This is the only Mario and Luigi game I've finished, besides Brothership. I never got the hate for the game since it was one of my favourites to play. It's surprisingly rare nowadays, to. I see copies of Bowser's Inside story pretty often (which I still need to finally play) but almost never any copies of Partners in Time...
@SuntannedDuck2 The game used to run alright on the Switch but the performance has gotten worse and worse over time.
First there was the dedicated console edition in 2017 that ran fantasticaly, then Bedrock in 2018 which still ran alright. The performance kinda tanked though starting from the update Aquatics and only got worse during Caves and Cliffs where they cut the max render distance.
Currently on Switch 1, the game runs smoothly until you start building or destroying things. It gets really bad especially in Creative mode and servers. If you move even at a moderate speed you'll move faster than the game renders chunks so there are a lot of instances where you can be stuck on things you can't see, too.
Render distance is locked to 12 chuncks I believe, and the Switch version doesn't have the vibrant visuals they added recently.
Currently there are no enhancements on Switch 2. The framerate is a little smoother but every other issue is still on full display.
I still enjoyed it, but I don't want to touch it until it gets propper Switch 2 support. I have a Steam Deck and Laptop that runs the game way better but I feel more comfortable playing games on Switch in general.
I found the controls of Air Riders pretty strange so I haven't picked it up yet. Thinking of waiting till my friends have Switch 2s so I can play multiplayer, but if the game has a strong single player I might grab it early. How are you all finding the game?
I'm liking the goofy video they made revealing the date. As for Minecraft itself, I'm still holding out for a Switch 2 edition of the game since it's still pretty subpar on the console. There'll be a lot to look forward to when I get back though!
@Dom_31 I thought the side characters were a little interesting, but they all look to bland for me to recognise them all too much. In Calamity we got to play as the Great Fairies, a guardian, the champions we got to know in BOTW, King Rhoam (who really surprised me), and litterally Calamity Ganon. The only characters that only come close to that level of crazy is Calamo and the Kngiht construct
I reckon it's only like this since they wanted to stay true to the promise of the game being canon and didn't want to make newbies that could disrupt the lore. Let's just hope that we get some non-canon additions later down the line
@Dom_31 I totally agree with you. Age of Calamity had such a diverse cast of playable characters, so I was pretty disappointed by the pretty bland cast by comparision in Imprisonment.
This game seems like it'd be the most fun to play with friends, like Mario Party or Smash Bros. Right now though not many people among my friends other than me have a Switch 2, so it feels like a waste to buy the game right now. Next year, maybe!
I think high quality games should hold their value, to an extent... charging £33 ($40) for a port of a 15 year old game though is excessive, especially considering the fact they were half that price on Wii U. If I'm itching to play these games again MAYBE I'll get them on sale, but I can get an experience nearly as good on my Steam Deck.
Either way, I'm very happy these games are back! They've aged beautifully
