OMG!! I love Shantae so much ❤️❤️❤️ I really hope Jake Kaufman returns for the soundtrack, because his music is such a huge part of the franchise’s identity. His absence in Seven Sirens is one of the reasons it’s probably my least favorite entry (though I still love it!).
Wilds feels like a mobile game with a AAA coating. You don’t even have to control your mount to reach monsters… it’s all automatic. What’s next for the franchise? Auto battle ?
They’ve lost the soul of Monster Hunter with this one sadly, imo.
OMG, I was afraid it would be a bland sequel! Apart from the remasters, the last Katamari I played was Beautiful Katamari on Xbox 360 (and it’s still my favorite). It’s just a shame there are slight loading times when the world expands, since those didn’t exist in the Xbox 360 game and the Switch 1 is much more powerful!
@SBandy1 because you were talking about Microsoft now buying third party studios as a bad thing but Sony did the exact same thing for decades, just not all at once. But they actually bought much better studios.
Yes, Don Mattrick was the worst thing that ever happened to the brand. Phil Spencer had cool ideas but not aggressive enough to fight against Sony’s third party exclusivity deals. I had high hopes for the Xbox Series X, which is an incredible device (I wish the Switch 2 had a Quick Resume feature and game sharing that lets friends play the same digital licence/game at the same time, just like I used to on Xbox).
LOL WTF? Even back in the day it was considered rubbish. It’s totally unplayable (I sometimes play the Saturn version with friends just because it’s SO bad and clunky). I honestly don’t even get why it’s going to take them years to release that emulated crap, haha…
I would’ve expected Bloody Roar to make a comeback before… this.
(Btw Toshinden 4 seems to be skipped from that collection?)
@SBandy1 Sony had absolutely no first-party studios when they entered the video game console market and had to rely entirely on buying successful developers and blocking third-party games from being released on SEGA and Nintendo systems. But they were still smarter than Microsoft, who’s now trying to catch up with Sony by buying (way too many) studios and often not as talented as the ones bought by Sony in the past.
Keep in mind that the people working at Xbox back in the day weren’t the same clowns running Xbox now, doing total BS… and Nadella has always disliked the Xbox anyway.
I consider the Switch 2 my main system now, finally powerful enough for third-party HDR AAA games, because Xbox has been really pissing me off lately.
@SBandy1 Learning what? Mistakes came much later. The very first Xbox was also a great and powerful system with a lot of amazing exclusives and features. The Xbox 360 was excellent throughout its entire lifespan, even though the first half was probably the best, with Mass Effect, BioShock, Dead or Alive 4 or Halo 3 being exclusives at the time.
Sometimes it feels like the way people talk about Microsoft makes it seem like they’re an intruder in the video game market… even though they’ve been building operating systems dedicated to gaming since the 80’s. Ironically, Sony was actually less relevant to enter that market, yet people treat them as untouchable.
Ppl are also much more forgiving when it comes to Nintendo for some reason. Nintendo is a lot smarter than Microsoft though…
@SBandy1 tell this to the Xbox 360 which was a success on par with the PS3 and even to the first Kinect who earned a Guinness World Record as the fastest selling consumer electronics device in history at the time
——————-
The problems started later when Sony returned to it’s ps1 / ps2 strategy with agressive third party AAA locks and when the communication at Xbox started to become a huge WTF with the release of Xbox One.
Xbox Series X is a really great system with a great OS… once you learn how to use it
Anyway, Microsoft used to be a very strong competitor, but now it’s turning into a huge mess and refuses to admit that it no longer wants to be a video game console brand. I’ve been an Xbox fan since the very beginning, but now I’m jumping off that sinking ship. It’s a shame, because now Sony will be able to do whatever it wants…
Exclusives are important, that’s how every successful system became successful.
OMG… We owe him one of my fav fighting game franchises (which went downhill once he had to leave Team Ninja).
There’s no doubt that without him, the very first Xbox wouldn’t have been that great. Along with SEGA, he gave that « Dreamcast 2 » vibe to the OG Xbox.
@Sonicka Team Sonic Racing didn’t run at a smooth 60fps on PS4 and Xbox One. It was pretty unstable unless you were playing on an Xbox One X or a PS4 Pro (and even the Pro wasn’t perfect in that regard).
I hope CrossWorlds is gonna be at least 60fps on Switch 2… but considering that it runs at 30fps on PS4 pro, I’m a bit scared.
The Minecraft track is really great but that DLC pass price… this is beyond madness.
Minecraft is fine in this game but the next DLC is turning this into Sonic & Nickelodeon All-Stars Racing and without voices that just makes it even worse.
The second model « tiny » looks terrible. It shows the same kind of artifacts as a deinterlacing filter from 2006 with moving objects. Since videogames are rarely static, it’s a poor choice (and of course, the one chosen by Ubisoft…).
For some reason, that weak DLSS has been obvious on Fast Fusion since day one, but it moves so fast that… it makes it a little less annoying.
So I guess that all these « 4k is gonna be a thing on Switch 2 thanks to AI » is just rubbish… because I’m not a big fan of this kind of filtered 4k…
Playing Switch 1 version on Switch 2 while waiting for the upgrade and it’s not as bad as some people make it out to be. Sure, if you’ve been grinding for hours on an Xbox Series X and then switch to the Switch 1 version, the downgrade is blatant. But for now, it runs at a pretty stable 30fps on Switch 2 and it’s totally fine until they drop the upgrade in two months.
However I don’t think the Switch 1 version runs bad on Switch 2. It’s a bit blurry but we are used to it with the first Switch… Can’t wait for the Switch 2 patch though.
Well… I went back to MK8 because Mario Kart World is giving me overpriced bland game energy. Those forced rides on straight soulless lanes… Ew…
I’ll just enjoy MK8 while I still can… before Nintendo shuts the servers down to push us into Mario Kart World and nothing else. The same way they refuse to let us choose to play looped tracks online…
@StewdaMegaManNerd The pleasure’s all mine. And for the record, only the very first unanswered question was actually aimed at you, not the whole (and very accurate) rant.
F U Nintendo. Seriously. They just keep MILKING us more and more AND MORE just to see HOW FAR they can push it. It’s insane. I wouldn’t even mind that much if it were a pricy first party Xbox or PlayStation port because at least those actually get cheaper over time. But Nintendo We ALL KNOW their first party games almost NEVER get discounted and when they finally do for a limited time, it’s at an almost insulting, downright ridiculous discount.
So gaming is gonna be stuck in an eternal loop with remake of remastered of reimaginated of remixed games? Wtf.
They used to crank out amazing scenarios with genuinely fun gameplay for a whole decade and now suddenly nobody’s talented enough to craft fresh, enjoyable stories? Sure, they still release new JRPGs, but they’re nowhere near the same pace or quality as the classics, both story wise and gameplay wise imo.
It looked gorgeous on Xbox Series X but the Switch 1 version on Switch 2 looked surprisingly good (30fps and a bit blurry though). Can’t wait for the Switch 2 upgrade.
Nintendo being pathetic as hell as usual… I cannot stand them but of course they’ve got me hooked because their games and consoles are absolute fire… Ugh…
Aspyr should have been in charge of this "remaster". What they did with Tomb Raider and Soul Reaver is mindblowing! They’re so good at enhancing old 3D games while modernizing them without betraying their original aesthetic.
Panzer Dragoon Zwei and Panzer Dragoon Orta are my favorite rail shooters of all time (and Orta is jaw dropping at 4K, 60fps and Auto HDR on Xbox Series X).
@Medic_alert When Sony fans and Sony itself turned this into a full on trend, claiming the base Xbox One was trash just because the base PS4 had slightly higher pixel count. That’s where the whole thing really kicked off.
I honestly didn’t think I would enjoy it this much! After being let down by Mario Kart World, this one actually has a real shot at becoming my next main kart racer. It’s polished, you can tell there’s way more budget behind it than the rather bad Team Sonic Racing and it seems to capture what made Transformed so damn good.
I tested it on both Switch (2) and Xbox Series X. Surprisingly, it runs and looks great for a Switch 1 game! The Series X version is stunning but I’ll stick with the Switch version for now and just grab the Switch 2 upgrade patch in a few months.
I cannot wait for Ulala to sashay her way into the roster with a couple of tracks.
Yeah, that’s why we couldn’t have Dead or Alive 2, 3 and 4 backward compatible on Xbox One and Series for so many years, until Tecmo / Team Ninja renewed their contract with Aerosmith (or whichever label). All because of one Aerosmith song in the intro and the main ending of DOA4 (iirc).

@Xansies I don’t even see them becoming Steam rivals since they release all their games on Steam too and Steam’s monopoly is almost untouchable anyway imo.
