Re: Lunar Remastered Collection Scores "Limited-Edition" Collector's Boxset

Sindayl

This port is honestly terrible. Pixel shimmering everywhere, the font looks awful without integer scaling, battle backgrounds are blurred and AI-upscaled, scanlines are wrong…

People are going crazy because they can finally afford a physical copy after almost 3 decades but this is clearly a rushed port, and the data on the cartridge will forever be a downgraded experience. I resold my copy.

The best version is probably still the translated Japanese Saturn edition.

Re: "One Of The Slowest Modern LCDs I've Ever Seen" - Digital Foundry's John Linneman On Switch 2's Display

Sindayl

The HDR is fake and the screen’s response time is too slow for proper 120fps gaming… the blur ruins it. But then again, Nintendo fans aren’t exactly known for being picky about technical specs… or to complain about getting screwed by N 😏

I love my Switch 2 though (and nobody cares about my opinion anyway. Nobody reads messages lost in tons of replies 😏)

Re: Best Sonic Games Of All Time

Sindayl

Sonic CD isn’t even in the list… LOL

I played Sonic Frontier on Xbox One X and it was phenomenal with tons of great idea. One of my fav modern Sonic.

Re: Rumour: Final Fantasy Devs Supposedly Hint At Another Nintendo Release

Sindayl

The Xbox version is a full price, rushed and inferior port of an old game with a pretty bad reputation and it doesn’t even have a physical release. Most Xbox players who were genuinely interested in playing it had already found other ways to do so, especially since the developers kept implying it would never come to Xbox or the Switch 2. So honestly, the poor sales aren’t even surprising.

That said, it would definitely sell better on Switch 2 for several reasons… including the fact that we’re absolutely starving for real Switch 2 games right now haha…

Re: PS5 Hit 'Stellar Blade' Is Reportedly In Consideration For The Switch 2

Sindayl

@Serpenterror You’re comparing the Series S to a PS2 and the Series X to a PS4 and that alone tells me you don’t understand the architecture at all. Both Xbox Series consoles use the same devkit, same OS, and the same CPU architecture. Microsoft designed them to scale just like PC games have for decades.

Yes, the Series S has less RAM and a weaker GPU but it’s not like devs are writing two entirely different games. They’re adjusting resolution, texture quality and a few effects, not rebuilding from scratch. If your X game can’t run on the S, the issue probably isn’t the hardware, it’s your optimization pipeline.

Plenty of AAA titles run well on Series S. Like someone else said, it’s a well known fact that Sony locks everything they can to avoid many Xbox releases.

If no one wants to make a watered down «old gen » version then… good luck with the Switch 2, since except for some more ram it’s technically weaker than a Series S and… needs 2 versions for each game 😅

Re: PS5 Hit 'Stellar Blade' Is Reportedly In Consideration For The Switch 2

Sindayl

It’s a bit weird to see people focusing on how Street Fighter 6 looks better on Switch 2 than on Xbox Series S.

It’s a terrible comparison since that port is notoriously bad on the S. Games with much more demanding graphics like Mortal Kombat 1 or Tekken 8 run perfectly well on the Series S and no one knows why Capcom still refuses to fix the clearly broken Xbox Series S version (The Xbox Series X version looks stunning).

Also, it’s kind of crazy to see Sony potentially releasing (fake first party) games on Switch 2 while still skipping Xbox, especially when Xbox has already started bringing major Xbox franchises to PS5. (I know the reasons though).

Re: Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled Has Sold 10 Million Copies Since Launch

Sindayl

@Anti-Matter You can thank Sony and its ridiculous parity deals for that. There were leaks and Digital Foundry analyses showing that Activision wasn’t allowed to make the game look or run better than what was possible on the PS4/PS4 Pro on other systems. That’s why it was locked to 30fps and identical resolution on Xbox One X even though the console was clearly capable of much more. (I’m not crazy, look it up, Sony has a history of parity deals with third party developers.)

This is also likely why MS didn’t enable FPS boost for the game on Xbox Series X even though they now own it.

Re: Nintendo Survey Asks Switch 2 Users About Their Experience So Far

Sindayl

I probably didn’t get it because they know I’d complain about a bunch of things:

The fake HDR screen that’s marketed as if it were true HDR.

The removal of docked VRR support which was initially advertised and an essential feature for gamers, especially on less powerful systems.

The continued inability to buy VC titles. We’re still stuck with subscription models.

The ridiculous key cards.

No option to run Switch 1 games with docked graphics in handheld Switch 2.

The fact that first party titles never drop in price even after several years. How do they expect the average person to pay 80 bucks for games that have been out forever? It’s absurd.

The poor response time of the screen which leads to some motion blur.

The fact that I can’t just use my original Switch or a friend’s in the Switch 2 dock, not even with a simple adapter.

And let’s not forget the home button on older controllers doesn’t wake the Switch 2. « It’s a new protocol » isn’t a valid excuse, it’s just greed. Microsoft has two different protocols on their last Xbox controllers and everything works just fine.

Other than that, it’s okay… I’m having fun with my Switch 2.

Re: Review: Mario Kart World (Switch 2) - The Perfect Introduction To A New Console Generation

Sindayl

Many tracks lack strong identity even when looped and the open world is boring as hell. The « missions » are mostly micro time trials that reward you with basically nothing.

There are other open world racing games that are miles ahead of this but when it’s Nintendo, fans tend to be very forgiving.

There are some innovations but because everything is set within a single open world the tracks feel a bit less mind blowing.

I know many people will disagree, especially on a Nintendo fan site but that’s just how I feel.

I would rate it 7/10.

Re: Best Nintendo Switch 2 Game Card Cases

Sindayl

I lost one of those cases while traveling. Losing half of my physical game collection all at once taught me a lesson: never use those game cases again. Now I just keep 4 or 5 games in my Switch pouch.

Re: 12 Free Switch 2 Game Upgrades Are Now Live, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

Sindayl

« Visuals: Optimized for the Nintendo Switch 2 display »

This is the first time we’re getting some clue about whether Switch 1 games will run natively in docked mode on the Switch 2’s handheld HD screen. And it seems that without a Switch 2 patch, they won’t. That SUXX so bad! Most Switch 1 games will just be stretched to fit the HD screen and look WORSE than on Switch 1. Nintendo… omg…

Re: PSA: Switch 2 Updates For Multiple First-Party Switch Games Are Now Available

Sindayl

It seems more like tweaks to the Switch 1 emulation mode… That’s not a good sign. If most games require small fixes like this to run properly on Switch 2, the majority of third party titles probably won’t get patched and will just end up running worse than on the original Switch… potentially forever.

And the fact that the backwards compatibility mode is locked until day one release combined with the review embargo doesn’t exactly inspire confidence…

Re: Feature: Farewell, Nintendo Switch - It's Finally Time To Bid Our Old Friend 'Adieu'

Sindayl

The early years of the Switch were pretty disappointing for Wii U owners. There were tons of ports, and aside from a handful of true exclusives, it wasn’t all that impressive. On top of that, it was frustrating to lose features like the stereoscopic screen, 3D audio and a well crafted Nintendo interface, the Switch feels incredibly barebones in comparison to the Wii U and 3DS to say the least…
.
However, once the Wii U library completely dried up, the Switch slowly turned into a very solid gaming system. It could have been a fantastic one if Nintendo hadn’t been so shady and had actually offered a Best Hits line outside Japan of first party titles at a reduced price. This generation, I just couldn’t afford to buy every major Nintendo title at full price and I’m not going to pay $60 for a three-year-old game!

Now I’m really looking forward to seeing how Switch 1 games will run on the HD screen of the Switch 2. But the fact that they haven’t shown anything yet… that’s not exactly a good sign.

(I wonder why I post my opinion, nobody cares anyway hahaha…)

Re: Random: Xenoblade Chronicles X Pops Up On Microsoft PC Game Page

Sindayl

@Wexter yes… Even if they already owned some prior to the first Xbox release, Microsoft should have bought tons of studios from the start just like Sony did.

Sony barely had any first party studios in the beginning and built their popularity through third-party deals and lots of strategic studio acquisitions.

Now Microsoft is trying to catch up but with PlayStation’s aggressive third party exclusivity tactics and exaggerated online narratives like « PlayStation = cool » vs « Xbox = evil » (seriously, wtf?), it feels like no matter what Microsoft does, it will always be too late.

In the end, Nintendo and SEGA are/were the only true big video game companies. They built their studios from the ground up with internal creative visions. They created entire worlds and unique identities. Rest in peace, SEGA…

Re: Review: SoulCalibur II (GameCube) - One Of The Best Fighters Ever, Playable Oh-So-Soon On Switch 2

Sindayl

Being excited to rent emulated iso 🌝

Anyway, there’s no mention of input lag in the review. The NSO N64 emulator is really bad in that regard compared to the original hardware. So I’m a bit scared about GC emulation.

For the average person playing SoulCalibur 2 on the toilet, input lag is not a big deal but for real fighting game fans, it matters a lot.

I still play SoulCalibur II HD on my Xbox Series X regularly so I’m wondering if it’s really worth upgrading my NSO sub just to rent the GameCube version.
(I don’t care about Link, I main Ivy anyway.)

Re: Anniversary: Perfect Dark, Another N64 Rare Classic, Turns 25

Sindayl

The Xbox 360 port is clearly the definitive version to play Perfect Dark (just like the 2 first Banjo Kazooie games). It runs at native widescreen 4k, 60fps and reworked controls on Xbox Series X and it’s simply amazing. If you are a big Perfect Dark fan, you REALLY should try the Xbox version.

Re: Nintendo Expands Switch Online's N64 Library With Another Game

Sindayl

Is the game at least playable? The NSO add a noticeable layer of input lag to several emulated N64 titles. For a fighting game it’s not acceptable.

I still play the original game on my N64 though. I love it even if that port has a bad reputation. The Xbox port of Gold is also good looking.

Re: Talking Point: Are You Ghosting Switch 1 To Save Yourself For Switch 2?

Sindayl

We don’t even know how Switch 1 games will run « emulated » on the Switch 2. If they run in handheld mode (720p) on the Switch 2’s screen instead of the docked graphics, it could actually look worse, with the image being stretched. And we also don’t know if this « emulation » will introduce any input lag, even a slight one. So honestly, I’d rather not wait. I prefer to finish most of my Switch 1 games on the original console. The fact that Nintendo hasn’t clearly communicated about all this is a bit suspicious.

Re: Review: Capcom Fighting Collection 2 (Switch) - A Cracking Collection Of Top-Class Arcade Fighters

Sindayl

« All the games included in Capcom Fighting Collection 2 are straight-up arcade ports, so you do lose any adventure modes, items shops, and other single-player content that was added to console ports. But listen, that's a good thing. The arcade versions, especially with the likes of the SNK and Street Fighter games, are superior and worth ditching stuff for. Less latency, faster, harder opponents and far better looks in terms of keeping it retro-for-real. »

Are you serious?

You know that the version of Plasma Sword used in this collection is an emulation of the Dreamcast version? The original arcade version ran on the ZN-2 hardware which was far inferior graphically to the version we have here.
The reason is simple: this collection is basically a « Capcom Fighting Dreamcast Collection » and emulating NAOMI and Dreamcast is essentially the same thing.

As for CvS1, CvS2, Power Stone 1, Power Stone 2 and Project Justice there are no differences between the NAOMI arcade versions and the Dreamcast ones since the Dreamcast is basically a NAOMI with half the RAM. The differences are nearly impossible to discern so the Dreamcast versions with all their extra mode are generally considered the superior ones.

So I don’t think it’s worth ditching stuff since technically it can’t really be superior.
