We love the Wii U, we defend it against many detractors, but it's also surprising when a new game is confirmed for the system in 2021. But it's happening, what a strange world this is.

The game in question, which lands on Wii U eShop some time this month, is SturmFront - The Mutant War: Übel Edition; it's a game that came out on Switch recently, and just like on the current-gen system it'll cost €9.99 / $9.99 / £8.99. It's also getting a digital release on PS Vita, so publisher Red Art Games and developer Andrade Games are clearly keen to get the throwback arcade-style title on varied platforms.

Though it's fun that the Wii U eShop will have a new game in the coming weeks, of more interest is the fact that pre-orders are now opening for a Switch physical edition; it'll cost €29,99 and be limited to 2900 copies, and you should head to the official site if you want to nab a copy.

We saw some of you asking for a physical edition in our previous coverage (around an interesting debate about the game's themes), so it seems the publisher is happy to oblige. And if you're a really big fan, you can fire it up the trusty old Wii U as well.

It might be worth a look just to revisit the sliding puzzle when the Wii U eShop loads...
