The Nintendo Switch has a solid number of driving games, although at times the system's limitations (in terms of performance and a lack of analogue triggers) can be a downside. Nacon and the team behind KT Racing has previous form on the system, most recently with WRC 9 The Official Game, and it's now confirmed that Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown will speed onto the hybrid system as well.
Test Drive as a series is making a comeback of sorts, with the press release describing Solar Crown as the "first of many chapters". It sounds a little Forza Horizon-esque, as you can drive around a large area with "the freedom to progress however you like... Live your best life. Race, cruise, and hang out with your friends until the sun goes down and even after!"
More details are promised in July. Is this a title you're interested in for Nintendo Switch?

So, uh we can't see the game? Cars exist and all, but I'd have to see the gameplay and graphics to form an opinion.
Not played Test Drive since the Amiga haha. Um, that trailer does nothing for Nintendo fans. I can imagine the spec heads will be drooling at the shiny cgi cars though. Will wait for gameplay (but lol, I don't have any expectations this will be great on Switch.)
Always loved Test Drive in all its incarnations. It's been a long time I didn't played one.
Test Drive Unlimited was a great game on PS2(and PSP), racing around the real roads of Hawaii. Hopefully they'll take inspiration from that game.
Sounds interesting, but also like it could be disappointing as a fan of the first two TDU titles. What made those games so special was how you could drive around and explore a real island with all the real roads true to scale.
Game trailers without game footage are a deceptive waste of time, terrible practice.... that's how it feels as a gamer, anyway. It hurts the relationship with the customer.
@WoomyNNYes Yeah that is why I usually never bother with game trailers, it seems like over 90% of the time it's just some cinematics, hype, and critic scores/comments. If you want to see what a game is like you gotta check out a stream or gameplay video. Trailers like this are utterly pointless and useless.
@nmanifold PS2 version was incredible. I need to get hold of it again.
It is from Nacon this time though.
Based on WRC 9 engine snd gameplay.
At least that is what some random dude on Reddit said.
I remember playing test drive unlimited 2 on the Xbox 360 was really fun just cruising around & looking for secret cars & locations
Like I'd ever say no to more open world driving games on Switch. Too bad Dangerous Driving 2 has kinda gone off the radars lately, but between this one and the still ploughed Burnout Paradise, the itch is well-scratched anyway.
I've written it off already. What a waste of time and money that trailer was.
If Nintendo won't make a proper Mario Kart for the Switch, why can't they do an open world Mario Kart? Bc its so different, it wouldn't kill the golden goose that is Mk8d.
I don't remember the details, but wasn't this leaked a year or two ago?
I wish someone would remake Test Drive III with today's graphics.
Oh yes, yes, yes, i missed this franchise and now soon a new version for Switch!!!
Now, still i can wish for Test Drive 2 in NSO?, Please?!
@rockodoodle
Hmmm...let’s save that brilliant idea for F-Zero. Imagine, being able to freely cruise around futuristic cities, taking on missions, challenges and even side-quests (Travis-style, where the genre, even graphics, shifts) as Cap...or perhaps a custom-built character. GTA-like in Zero Gravity; let’s see Falcon use that pistol! C’mon, Nintendo, (continue to) make my dreams come true.!!
@CodyDogg at this point, I just want games from Nintendo that interest me. Since Luigi in October 2019, only ACNH. 51 games is alright, but certainly not anything to hang your hat on as a major release. I liked the added content in 3D World, but still, mostly an old game.. Finally golf in June.
