I'm gonna get this game; I think it could be great fun. But that's probably only because I can get it $40 from Amazon. I really want to experience the HD rumble, and this game seems perfect for it.
As a huge fan of the top down Zelda, I'm glad to hear this. Not that the "3D" Zelda isn't good, but my favorites in the series are mostly top down "2D" Zeldas.
I plan on getting it eventually, probably when the Holidays role around. I just can't justify paying that now for the content we're getting. I'm already looking at getting 6 games for the Switch before Spring is up. But I'm not really annoyed about it, since the game should already be complete without said DLC. I mean I want the amiibo for it too, but I'll need to wait on that as well.
I'll probably hold off until the summer or holiday packs go live to get this. I still want to know what the Breath of the Wild amiibo do, before I jump the gun in this stuff.
I'm just glad that Nintendo continues to fund the Squid Research Lab. It proves to be an invaluable source of these mysterious creatures known as the Inklings. If a war breaks out, we need all the Intel we can get.
I'm loving the new specials. Hopefully there'll be more than in the previous game.
I've been slowly going through these games, on Swap Force at the moment, but how much does the vehicles and traps add? I have both Trap Team and Superchargers but haven't had a chance to play them. I'm just wondering wether I should pick this up for the Wii U or Switch. I understand there's no racing mode, but was it fun?
I really wanted a physical cartridge for "Rare's" return to form. I feel it'll get one if I'm patient enough. If not, I can always pick up digital on a sale.
@Yasume It does look like more of the same, but can't say that's a terrible thing. They'll probably reveal more though, as the launch draws closer.
I bought a 64GB SDXC card Black Friday for my $99 N3DS, not realizing it wouldn't work. So I plan on using that for the Switch when it comes in. I'll probably want to upgrade, but at the moment that'll do.
I've definitely been a fence sitter with the New Nintendo 3DS. I wanted the smaller size and would have jumped at it when it launched in 2015. Then the first bundles were more expensive than the XL. And now this close to the Switch makes me hesitate still. But I do love that $100 price.
@rjejr If Twilight Princess is any indication, Nintendo will release Breath of the Wild on NX a few weeks before the Wii U, to try and get people to buy their new console.
I subscribe to the belief of tyranny of choice, especially when it comes to playing games. While I love the illusion of freedom in games, when I'm just dropped into a world with no general direction and endless possibilities, I usually don't do anything. So no, not all choice is bad, but too much can be overwhelming.
I had thought of a solution like this to help Nintendo bridge the hardware gap. Like a Nintendo 64 expansion pack. But of course I don't have any experience in this field - save for plugging the expansion pack in - so I didn't know how realizable it was.
When I was a kid, we used a Game Genie in order to get infinite lives, moon jumps, what not. It allowed us to develop the motor skills needed to play the game without them. I don't see this as any different than that.
When those tech demos were revealed, I cared more about Project Robo than Guard. It reminded me of Rockem Sockem Robots, with the exception that you get to build your own. Honestly it looked rather unwieldy, but that seemed to be part of the charm of giant robots.
I like the look of the Link, save the stenotic arm, but it was sad we didn't see any forest or soilders. Also the lantern seemed to be stuck at a permanent 15 degree angle, with the occasional (and for no reason) jerks.
It's nice, but as one poster said above the problem with these HD remakes is art direction. It makes everything seem disjointed.
@Peach64 I don't understand why they would click on the link that was marked spoilers if they didn't want anything spoiled.
Also to me, this direct wasn't an announcement of the the games (let's be honest, who didn't know a new Pokemon game was in the works?), but more to celebrate the anniversary and promote the virtual console titles. The news that Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow are now forward compatible is a pretty major announcement.
@PlywoodStick I have to agree with your point. You lose part of the experience going from interactive media to a static one. I came here to post those sentiments.
That said, it wouldn't hurt Nintendo to push it's IPs into new territories. If only to give them more brand recognition with younger audiences. As to how they should accomplish that, well that's beyond me. I personally wouldn't be opposed to watching a new movie or tv show based of their IPs, but I guess we'll have to see what the future holds.
Am I the only one who has been inspired to purchase this game? And not for the amiibo functionality (sorry Alex). The puzzles look interesting, and I love me some word search.
I have to wonder how much it would cost companies to translate and put these games on the eShop in the west. I assume there is a market for it. Or at least it would interest me.
Technically is you don't count rereleases, than it should be th same for both companies. Nintendo having Chain of Memories, 358/2 Days, and Dream Drop Distance, and Sony with 1, 2, and Birth by Sleep. Coded was originally released as phone games if memory serves.
On topic though, it's a very lovely ring, but I honestly can't see the oathkeeper.
@diwdiws Well considering Nintendo's other new IP, Codename S.T.E.A.M. flopped, I think you could still call it a hit.
I dislike multiplayer games that only have online multiplayer, since I'm more of a couch multiplayer person. That doesn't mean I don't enjoy online multiplayer, since it makes it easier to game with my brothers since I moved.
@DoctorWily Phantom Hourglass is the direct sequel if Windwaker - continuing right after the events of the game. And Spirit Tracks is Phantom Hourglass's direct sequel - although it does take place about 100 years later.
I enjoyed this game. Not my favorite Zelda by any means, but like it's predecessor it was still a fun game. Also you gotta love that train music.
I loved this peripheral growing up. It just felt good to weild this bazooka. Also it is sad only a handful of titles for it. We just had Super Scope 6, Yoshi's Safari, and Metal Combat. But both Yoshi and Metal Combat wear a blast to play, since both offered an asymmetric two player mode.
Gen V is probably my favorite. It did take me back to the original. And with the climax happening at the elite 4, I'd have to say the story is one of the best in the series.

Re: Guide: How To Beat Zelda: Breath Of The Wild's Hardest Shrine Quest, Eventide Island
What? This was the hardest? I beat this one last night, and thoroughly loved it. I was hoping for more like it.
Re: Poll: Nintendo Switch Countdown - Less Than a Week to Go, Is the Hype Building?
Woah now, I voted for Imaginators, but it still says 0%. I guess it must round down.
But that won't be at launch. Just Zelda, Bomberman, and 1-2 Switch there.
Re: Lego City Undercover Makes The Jump To The Nintendo Switch On 4th April
What? Co-op? This is my favorite Lego game, but I was always upset this feature was left out. There goes another game I'll buy again.

On topic, I'm excited to hear this. I love David Wise's compositions. This news has put this game on my radar.

Will you even need an extra pair of Joy Cons until Arms comes out? I guess Bomberman and Mario Kart, but for me I'm holding off until then.

Sold! Especially with Amazon Prime reducing it to $40.

@6ch6ris6 I completely agree. Spla2oon would be read like Spla-two-oon. I much prefer the Splatwon, as that makes much more grammatical sense.
