Am I in the minority when I say I just toss broken controllers in the trash and buy new ones?
Ive had a switch pro since it came out and never had an issue. Bought a pro 2 and love it.
Only controller issues ive ever had were joycons and always the left joycon. Had to buy 3 of those over 8 years. Never lost an xbox or ps controller. Had a few older gen controllers die over the years, but always just bought new ones.
I mean, we get thousands of hours of use out of them. For $90 or whatever thats a good deal.
Like launches of old, not a lot of dedicated games yet. Ive spent most of my time on fantasy life switch 2 edition and survival kids with my daughter. Mixing in some mkw, sf6, and fast fusion when i can. Needless to say, I have things to play but nothing exclusive really pulls me in like odyssey did on switch. Fun games, but its lacking the killer title. Maybe dk? Time will tell.
Hard to say really. Ive enjoyed each iteration of the switch and currently am enjoying the switch 2. I expect future iterations will improve on the switch 2 weaknesses such as battery and screen, but the primary factor overall will likely come down to external factors. If economics makes the switch 2 $900 in the us someday, I cant imagine sales globally reaching 150million. Then there are the games, will nintendo land another 3d mario game or zelda? History says yes, but we shouldnt bank on it.
Im fine with it downloading all so I dont have to download everytime I get the itch to play one. That said, having an option to offload games within the app would be nice I guess. I have plenty of space, so its not really a concern for me.
Picked this up on day 1 with my switch 2 despite already owning a copy on the series x. Been a solid pickup, game looks and plays well in handheld and docked. Honestly unless I look for flaws, I cant tell the difference between the series x and switch 2 versions. (To be clear, there is a difference, but when playing you dont really notice)
No clue what an aespa is, outside of a cookie cutter kpop band. (My elder daughter(25) listens to kpop and informed me that Im an old fogey for having no clue)
If it keeps games affordable though by extracting revenue from fans, im 100% all in. They pay more so I can pay less.
@Geit_de Thats really odd sounding to me. I honestly cant fathom why people would play on a monitor in full hd over even a cheap 4k tv.
I dont even think I could find a non 4k tv these days. Monitors, yes, but consoles arent meant for monitors.
I can only imagine you must be very young.
@Geit_de Well, I bought all of these regardless, so not really paid for me. Also, who doesnt have atleast a 4k tv? They are like $100 for cheap large ones now. About the same as a game
Im ok with this game, it could use a couple of quality of life enhancements though.
The fact it locks me out if i start a mouse minigame by accident with the pro controller forcing me to get up and enable the joycon is aggravating. Not game breaking, but reminds me of the old days with wired controllers or multidisc titles. It breaks the experience.
I get what DF is saying, but even if its backed by data, its still up to perception.
I feel like the switch 2 screen is a significant improvement based on what I see. And Im coming off of the switch oled. I like oled tech better, but for playing games the larger screen is more important.
@sethfranum - Im at a point in my life where I have more money and less time. $600 isnt that much to me, so if it afforded me a better experience for the short amount of time I have to play games, absolutely. (I am planning on buying an xbox ally x to use as a gamepass machine)
@A_WINNER_IS_Mii - I personally love the virtual game cards. It has allowed me to only have to buy one copy of games to share between me and my daughter. I simply keep my account on her switch and she loads the gamecard on her profile. In the past, one would have to use the "log off trick" to allow this, which would limit any ability to play online or update. I wound up buying multiple copies of several games. Now I dont have to do that.
I realize I am probably not the normal customer(or maybe I am), but for me, this is infinitely better than the previous method.
OLED is a better technology, period. I dont think anyone will deny that.
Saying there is a giant gap between the Switch 2's LCD and the Switch OLEDs screen though is crazy. The OLED is definitely better but were not talking by large margins. While playing I don't even notice the difference to be honest unless I'm really looking for it and have them both on side by side. (which is silly)
I felt like Digital foundry, while not wrong in pointing it out, harped a bit too much on the differences so as to make the switch 2 screen sound terrible. Its not. Its actually pretty good. not as good as the portals in my opinion, but way better than Gen 1 switch and definitely good enough to game on.
The only publishers complaining are indie studios looking to drum up hype.
The option is there for any publisher to make full game or game key. Personally no interest in this debate since Ive been all digital for ages, but I am finding it amusing. So much so that I intentionally preordered physical madden to see what all the game card fuss was about.
@PharoneTheGnome I loved my c64, but i was 8 when we got one in 88 and honestly it had a lot to compete with. If i found myself in possession of one though id probably be very nostalgic. We had an old tandy game device around that time too which was good fun.
While I dont harbor the same kind of love for the gamecube(I was 22 when it came out and bought one for the student housing I was in, wound up actually giving it away a couple years later to a friends kid and never looked back), I do understand nostalgia.
It hits me with the genesis(and sega cd), snes, and tg-16. These got me through a horrific middle school period and will always hold a special place for me.
So while I may not think highly of the gamecube(third worst nintendo console to me ahead of only the n64 and wiiu), hats off to anyone who loves it and has that emotional connection to it the way i do the 16 bit gen.
I picked up a few third party games. Part of the issue with the 3rd party titles though was the fact most were older games on other platforms.
I bought sf6 again despite owning it on xbox. Picked up a few upgrades to switch 1 games as well. Survival kids is a great game if you have kids. (Which I do and am having a blast with it)
Overall though, everything else is kinda meh. Waiting on next round of titles.
I bought this and its essentially a nice decoration. Ive tested a bit more and it is sufficient for handheld mode, but utterly useless for tv mode. And yet, I dont feel like it was a waste of money. The thing is just too....adorable.
So....I got the piranha plant camera first and when it arrived on the 11th the resolution I thought wouldnt be an issue was an issue. Literally couldnt tell it was a person.
So i figured id use that for handheld mode and bought the nintendo camera.
While better, my media room is apparently too big(or more likely the camera just isnt great) because it still is blurry as anything. You can atleast tell its a human, but thats about as far as it goes. Needless to say, $115 in and I have a cute plant and a cabinet accessory.
I got the one from nintendo. The case is exactly as expected, but the included screen protector was rubbish. I replaced it almost instantly with a proper tempered glass protector.
@hiptanaka I picked up survival kids and have been playing with my daughter(shes 9). Its actually a lot of fun. I also am interested in what the reviews say, but id expect 7-8 range scores.
I dont mind the price given all the weirdness in the markets these days.
The game is interesting, but id hesitate to call it good. Its more like a virtual tech manual than a game. Luckily I like tech manuals, but I certainly can see the average consumer shunning this one. I also definitely prefer astrobot to this as a feature rundown title.
I was playing fantasy life i(switch 2 version) and got under 2 hours.
Im used to getting quite a bit more with my oled, but its really just managing things i think. Ill tweak the brightness and adjust things till I get 2.5.
Honestly a non issue for me since i rarely(as in once a year) have the time to play more than 1.5 hours in a session. I made exceptions for the launch, but generally i play in blocks of 30min to an hour at most. If it doesnt last an hour, then we have issues.
This game is brilliant. $15 and fully packed with everything youd expect from an AAA game. I like how its not frustrating as well. They ease you into things.
I bought this game on Series X and then bought it again here. Sure it looks a little worse here, but it's on handheld and plays great. I'm quite happy with the results of this and was happy to spend the money on another copy I can now play with me on the go.
I play my switch on the tv maybe once a year. My daughter plays with her friends a bit more than that. So id say no, i dont need a pro 2 controller, but i bought one to go along with the 3 other pro 1 controllers I have and dont use. The reason? The same reason I got the camera even though i rarely if ever play online. I want an optimal experience when I do play that once a year without having to go to the store and buy it at the time.
Wonder if they redirected some of GAMEs allotment to Costco to try and get things in the US during a Tariff gap. (and staples apparently, which is a very odd place to buy consoles. They are an office supply store)
I picked this one up on a whim since its not my normal type of game. Im loving it, so much to do and no pressure to keep moving forward.
I have my switch 2 coming next week and will get the $3 update because...well, its $3. Thats cheaper than the price of a 20oz bottle of soda in my area so not really much to think about. (I bought horse armor for oblivion on x360 when it came out for more)
Also, at my age, time is the most valuable resource I have. So saving small amounts of time over dozens of hours of play amounts to a real tangible savings. Even 30 minutes of total time saved by loading would equate to a huge benefit and savings for me. I also like the cleaner look, though on a portable its not as important.
I preordered the piranha because it looks cool. I have no concern about the resolution since at most itll be used for chat, at least itll be a decoration.
I bought a hd camera for ps5 at launch and never once used it and wound up giving it away after a few years.
Having cleared the main game and dlc, I'm trying to figure out what more people wanted from a single numbered game.
Its a very complete game with an abundance of characters and loads of content to run through. Overall, I was very happy with it. Its significantly more than we were ever offered with early MK games. (I remember buying MK 1 and MK2 when they came out for more and we got way less out of those)
People today are quite spoiled with the plethora of content.
Im not a huge fan of physical media, but id absolutely not want it to go away.
That said, making physical releases for very niche games really doesnt help. What id like to see is one of these companies making deals with major publishers to print physical editions of titles where it wouldnt require much, if any extra effort. People would pay a premium and both parties get there cut. (Example would be something like madden which fits on a cart but at an extra cost. Let the small company print physical copies and charge $100. Games that are too big and would require work to segment would likely need to be bypassed. Also, they could delay the release and include any day 1 patches)

Re: Video: How Does Switch 2 Look On A CRT TV? Glorious
Having grown up with crt, including old knobbed black and white tvs, I can say 100% that I do not miss them nor have any nostalgia towards them.
Happy some still like them, but those 800lb blurry death boxes belong in a museum.

Re: Of Course Mario Kart World Is Being Review Bombed
Highly suggest people dont put value in user review scores. Trust videos, quality critic reviews, and most importantly, yourself.
Review bombing is dumb, its nice that it allows people to express anger but it should hold no value in our decision making process
Re: Bandai Namco's Summer Showcase Promises Plenty Of Switch News Later This Week
Tekken 8 switch 2 edition would be fun.

Re: Review: Nintendo Switch Online GameCube Controller - The Return Of The King
I cant be the only one who hated the gamecube controller. The analog was useless, the feel was always small and it often cramped my hands up.
Its better than the n64 controller, but not what id call a good controller. I much prefer duke or even the og playstation controller.
Doesnt mean i wont pick this up because nintendo makes games that work perfectly with there controllers.
Re: "One Of The Slowest Modern LCDs I've Ever Seen" - Digital Foundry's John Linneman On Switch 2's Display

Also, sonic 3 and sonic and knuckles are both kinda meh to me. My rank would go
1. Sonic Origins(because it contains all the others)

3. Sonic 2
4. Sonic
5. Sonic Mania
6+ everything else, not worth ranking

And yes, Im liking it a lot. Its good simple fun.

Re: Review: Survival Kids (Switch 2) - Konami's NS2 Debut Is Cosy, Competent, Kid-Friendly Co-op
Exactly what I expected the reviews to be.
I picked this game up to play with my 9 year old daughter and its been a blast. We play in small spurts, so the repetitiveness isnt an issue.
For its purpose, its way better than split fiction.
Would I buy it for only adults? no. Single player? Nope. But for fun with the family, absolutely. Its a casual game and people need to remember that.
Re: Review: Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour - Surprising, Delightful, And You Know Where It Belongs

Re: Review: Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour - Surprising, Delightful, And You Know Where It Belongs
@Suketoudara ive opened up all the areas and played a large number of demos. Its a virtual tech manual through and through.
Not saying thats a bad thing, just thats what it is. It goes into pixel counts, use of chips, how the rumble works, and so much more.
Re: Review: Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour - Surprising, Delightful, And You Know Where It Belongs
