I also bought starfield on the genesis back in the day as a 13 year old who mowed lawns and babysat to get it.
I get what hes saying and agree that if your a fan youll pay.
Problem with that logic though is that most potential buyers are not hardcore fans.
I like borderlands, but im definately a casual fan and given options id go with an alternative at $80 in many cases.
Then you have the new audience who will see the game and get sticker shock.
Needless to say, if it comes in at $80 or higher 2 things will happen.
1. Sales numbers (ie.not dollar value per say, but qty sold) will be down over 3. 2. The game will be heavily discounted once the "true fans" have had their fill.
Personally, not at all. I block all communications on all platforms as it is and while I do play some MP games, I always treat them as solo. Every experiment I have had with online gaming chat has been bad at best.
That said, I did preorder the hori camera shaped like a plant thing. I did so for my daughter who will likely play with her friends online and it will work great for her. (Thankfully Nintendo allows decent parental controls around chat)
@sanderev I am constantly recharging my phone regardless of the level of battery simply because I hate low battery. I burn out most phones in about 18 months.(currently iphone 16pro)
I eventually got tired of buying new phones annually and just bought the plan that covers an annual replacement with a newer model.
Point is, I can 100% confirm if you want to kill a battery, constantly charging is a good way to do it.
@Elitepatriot Site lists cuts, not waste or fraud though. One could very easily argue that giving billions in food aid to starving africans was neither fraud nor waste, but it was cut.
Getting rid of bloat is good, but what is bloat? For me its our military. For others it may be something else. One thing for sure is its not the broad swathes being chopped now.
As for gaming, it runs pretty bloat free. Consumers just got used to paying so little because volume of sales went up along with budgets. Now volume is stagnant but costs are increasing. Simple math dictates prices had to increase.
To my 9 year old daughter there is no competition. MK is 100% more valuable since she cant play (and doesnt want to play) gta vi.
Honestly, i didnt really care for gta 1-4, 5 was good fun but even then it wanst any different to me than any other action rpg. I played online a bit, but dont really like online gaming.
So for me, as a value perspective, mk is more valuable as well than gta vi. Is it worth $80? Most likely, but i cant see myself putting in more time on gta vi than mario kart world.
@NeonPizza i was only able to beat the original doom (new version) on the switch, despite owning it on xbox as well. It felt the same to me on both lol. (Though it certainly did not look the same)
It looks fine to me, not overly concerned with the format so long as its not bulky and clunky like the steamdeck. Had one of those feom launch until recently when I sold it off.(just didnt use it)
All I want is a portable gamepass handlheld like the portal(which is amazing). So as long as the grips make it easier to hold and the interface easier to play gamepass, im sold.(even if its $1000)
@NeonPizza Yeah, its weird but I cant tell the difference. (I have 3 lg g series oleds in my home) Only time I notice framerates is either when its below 15 or there are large spikes.(ie it goes from 60 to 30 to 60.)
Same applies to resolution. I cant tell the difference in motion between 1440 and 4k, or 720/1080 upscaled to 4k. In screen shots its very hard for me too. (Note, i can tell 720 and 4k outputs ofcourse. Its the upscaling that i dont really see.)
Supporting outlets you like is a time honored tradition. Ive always supported outlets like eurogamer and gameinformer. So I agree with the headline in principle since once they are gone, they are gone and you will miss them. (RIP gamepro, nintendo power, EGM, etc...)
That said, I have no love lost for Polygon. I got banned from them years ago for simply disagreeing with one of their writers on a game. Always felt they were way too engrained in the "woke" movement. Im liberal in most ways, but they represented the extreme. So not really upset personally at their fall, if anything itll be a better outlet. I do feel bad for those who wanted that type of outlet though as that option is now likely gone. (I just stopped going there altogether)
@Nintendo4Sonic I have 2 original pro controllers, and personally never play docked, but my daughter and her friends do so i wanted a couple extra pro controllers. Made no sense to not get pro 2
I can get $175 on fb marketplace if i wanted for my launch switch, Why would i trade it in for less? I will either sell my two switches(oled for me and launch i passed to my daughter) when they are replaced with switch 2s or keep them for my daughters friends to play together with then they are all over.
And who keeps there boxes? I keep my switch in great condition, but the boxes go straight into the trash. Im not in the business if storing empty boxes. (Ie. while I have lots of space, I really hate clutter and throw everything I can away....the anti hoarder)
I may still pick this up. I loved the original, always buy 100% digital, and seem to be in the minority in loving random encounters over world map enemies.
Big thing for me is what here is new enough to make me want to replay it? A small visual update and a couple of mini games likely wont be enough. Thats more of the question I am facing.
Yeah, Ebay makes money on preorders. So despite it being against their own policies, they have incentive to keep them listed.
If its any consolation, when you factor in shipping and seller fees, the scalpers are making a lot less than it seems. Though I guess that might even make it worse since they are ruining things for people for even less profit.
Wish noone would pay over retail at launch for a console. Scalpers would decrease and while there would be people without one, patience is a virtue.
I love my Madden, and portable madden has been...maddening... for a while now, only recently seeing a little love with the portal and steam deck.
I originally wanted to post on how dumb it was to charge $79.99 for an iterative annual sports game, but thankfully as others have pointed out that was an error. (Id be ok if it was a full game on physical media priced at $80 because the media is expensive, though eshop should still be cheaper)
I was able to add the non bundle to my cart from walmart, but its "unavailable" to buy so its just sitting there. Which is fine.
Im fairly confident in my ability to get one via nintendo direct given the timing of my request(within 2 minutes of opening the link on april 2) and the criteria for selection.
Its odd that amazon didnt participate in preorders this round.
I had the steam deck and switch(and switch oled) all at launch.
I tried for a while to get into the steam deck, but finally sold it off a week or two ago. Its just to bulky for me. I dont need the power, i prefer comfort.
Id say keep it where it makes sense and eliminate it if it doesnt.
Its one of those things like underwater levels needing air that is annoying at times, but better immerses you and makes you think a little.
I love easy games more than most(always play on easiest setting), but even I dont want things as simple as removing minute things such as fall damage would give.
@StyrofoamCup I have had every console since the nes at launch, only console to ever have drift was the switch(4 joycons and counting)
None of my xbox or ps analogs have ever had drift and I play those more.
While its certainly not just a nintendo problem, im willing to say its definitely more profound with the switch than other consoles. (Anecdotal I know, but id also argue that other platforms are irrelevant as well. A problem is a problem)
Back in the day I had multiple copies of the sega ce versions(cds had different covers) as well as the ps versions. Sold them off when i moved to asia in the mid 00s.
Id love to buy a working sega cd again for the originals, but the cost to procure along with the games just isnt worth the nostolgia factor for me.
Wish they sold this press kit to be honest, but ill be happy just being able to play them again.(still irked at the lack of sega cd remasters though. Stronger story....)
@bobrocks95 Personally I loved WDs renditions. A bit nervous about these versions.
I never got all the huff n puff around "accurate" translations. I read and speak Japanese(and chinese for that matter) and not once cared about the differences in any translation. The WD script was great and is packed with nostalgia for me.(as someone who was a teenager when I bought the sega cd version on launch day back in the early 90s)
Im a little disappointed in the lack of a sega cd version of tsss though. The plot had substantive tweaks that altered the mood of the game significantly. SCD was darker and made you feel more tied to the consequences of the world.
Never understood the love for the gamecube. Probably my second least favorite nintendo console ever behind only the n64.
I was there on day one as i usually am, picked one up for my college dorm. Roommates loved it, but I never got into it. Games were meh and the controller was god awful. (Only the n64 controller was worse)
So not super excited for this aspect of the switch 2
I would have paid $450 for the switch oled, so 450 for a switch 2 is fine.(ill get the $500 bundle at launch ofcourse)
Now the price of games on the otherhand, $80+ is a bit steep for a nintendo digital game. I understand physical as the memory card is expensive, but digital should be 69.99
Ive played all the xeno games aside from this one over the years and have a huge fondness for them. However, this one just isnt sticking with me. The characters seem blander, the mechanics are just ok, the story isnt landing, and in general its just not up to snuff with the series.
Its not bad by any means, and im early so it may pick up drastically, but as of now its an easy last place in the xeno games. (And im going back to even the unrelated ones from the 90s-early 00s)
@HeadPirate Too much work, and what If I have 3 switches?
Also, there is a thing called intended use. I have no desire to circumvent intended use to benefit myself. This option is much easier to implement and understand than having to work through turning off your internet each time you play as well as setup.
So Id disagree that it benefits noone. My consoles are always online. The idea of having them offline is a non starter as well since I strictly regulate my childs online access and playtime.
@Member_the_game or lose it, as my daughter has done to countless games.(I stopped buying her physical because i always wound up getting more than 1 after she lost them)
@raphsolo I have 2 switches, but in order for my daughter to play any digital game I bought, she has to log into my account on her switch, something I dont like.
This eliminates the need for that by allowing me to loan her a game she can play on her account without having to buy it twice.(something ive done many times)
Im going to love this. So many games my daughter wants to play on her account, but cant because its tied to mine. Now ill be able to share. Only concern I have is can i lend it multiple times back to back. (i.e. 2 weeks them another 2 weeks then another 2 weeks to the same person)
I much prefer the sega cd version of the first lunar over the ps1 version due to the substantive plot changes, but, Im very happy this is getting the remaster treatment at all so Ill live. (L2 was great on ps1 so all good there)
Im intrigued by the va choices and hoping they remain faithful to the originals. Dubs have come a very long way, and while i loved the original cast, there was a lot of room for improvement. (Nall comes to mind)
Pink tails......i spent literal hundreds of hours walking in circles in a tiny room in the early 90s(hour clock stopped at 99 i recall.) Never got one.
In the pixel remaster though i had a lot more luck, getting a couple in the first 70 hours.

Point is, I can 100% confirm if you want to kill a battery, constantly charging is a good way to do it.
Re: Nintendo Showcases Switch 2's Fancy New Battery Charge Settings
I have a v1 switch thats been played thousands of hours and still does fine with a charge. My oled does fine too after a few years.
Id much rather replace the console in 10 years(or 5, or even 3) than see a non full charge when I pick it up. (I almost exclusively play in handheld)
Give me an option to undercharge it to 100% as someone above mentioned. Make it a toggle and Id be good.

None here as of 5pm est. signed up within a min of reg opening on 4/2. Been an nso subscriber since day 1. Sharing turned on.
I do have a preorder with walmart I got on day 2 of preorders, but I dont trust them. (And a second switch 2 for my daughter would be ok too)
Time will tell if I qualify here

Re: PSA: You Can Still Play One Game Across Two Switches, But Not Online Anymore
Always thought it was weird that people felt entitled to be able to play one game on 2 consoles simultaneously.
I like this new approach because it treats digital games like physical games. One copy can be shared, but only used at one time.
If you need two people playing simultaneously you need two copies, be it digital or physical.

I picked up several items via preorder. Pretty much one of everything but an extra dock, gc controller, and extra joycons.
Was honestly looking for more, but figured id hold off. Maybe a 3rd pro controller?

I gave up at 1am stuck in line.
Its nice to see scalpers already out selling them for 699 though..../s
