For me its the same pattern as always. I had a switch and bought an oled, so gave my old to my daughter. When the switch 2 comes out, ill pass on my oled to my daughter and she will give her switch to someone in need of one. Likely a friend she wants to play minecraft with who may not be able to afford one. Ive no need to sell it, thats a hassle and someone else will just mark it up and resell it. This way I know itll be used by someone who wants it.
I may take a little flak for this, but ive been gaming for 40 years, played every mario game, enjoyed most of them, but have only ever beaten 1. I always get frustrated at certain points and move on.
The one Ive beaten though i 100% completed. Odyssey. Something about it just clicked with me. (Note im not including mario rpg which i cleared back in the day 100% and am looking forward to again)
My 8 year old daughter has cleared 3 of them though, odyssey, bowsers fury, and sunshine. Shell start on wonder this xmas when santa brings it lol
Edit: I just recalled i also cleared galaxy on wii, not 100%, but pretty close.
If this was any other vendor(I preordered day 1 the playstation portal), I would say absolutely. However, this is nintendo and their digital rights system is at best horrible. I have 2 switches, one for me and one for my daughter. We have a family switch online account, but the inability to play non physical games across accounts is horrible. (ie. I cant play a digital game from my library while she plays a different digital game from my library, but we can do that with carts)
So Id have to research to see if they implement a solution that allows us to play games across family accounts. (but not the same game at the same time)
@SpoonySpoons Spot on with the lufia 1 description, pure feel good. Lufia 2 was even more obscure stateside than the first, I honestly think Im the only person I knew who even heard of it.
What Id give for a hd remake of lufia 1+2. Even a nso port would be great though.
They called out lufia 2(in a good way), noone calls out lufia 2. Both lufia titles are among my favorites of the snes era, right up there with chrono, secret of mana, and ffiv-ffvi. (And of course breath of fire 1 and 2) another highly underrated title is tecmos secret of the stars, but ill digress.
Point is, Now im even more excited for this one. Cant wait for the release.
@EarthboundBenjy - Honestly, at this point id likely just emulate it. For Lunar 1, the sega cd version is the best version, but the hardware load times and reliability are insanely bad. The working designs versions were also really good, especially given how bad most dub/translation work was at the time.
I have to say this is surprising. I loved popful mail on the sega cd when it launched. Working Designs did an amazing job as they always did with their ports.
In fact I turned it on just the other day for a quick play. Holds up very well.
I feel kinda bad, I bought it on launch, played a couple hours, loved it, and then got sucked into other games. I really want to start back into it, but other games keep eating my limited time.(curse you diablo 4 and baldurs gate 3)
I loved rdr, and cleared rdr2 when it came out a few years back, but no chance in me buying this on switch. Already playable on my series x and the idea of paying $50 for it is worse than paying $50 for gta5 again
I never got into pokemon games until my youngest daughter picked it up with shield, but as far as I can tell, scarlet and violet are the best. The reason is simple, multiplayer is way better.
So maybe those who liked the earlier systems are disenchanted, there are lots of new players who enjoy the changes.
Ill disagree with terranigma being better as well as saying the game hasnt aged well. Im very biased though as mana is my favorite game in existence, having beaten it over 100 times since 93(at least once a year) (i used to hum the music to my daughter when she was a baby to get her to sleep)
There just isnt a game out there like it anymore, and hasnt been since. Seiken 3 played differently, the pace was more sluggish. (Still a great game)
I love the article though, color is so important in this one and the author articulates that well.
@faint Nothing to do with antitrust, it’s pure isolationism. Japanese only like Japanese, and strongly guard any intrusion into the market.
I lived and worked in Japan for quite some time, even went through the arduous process of starting a business there. It was a nightmare from day 1. As an American trying to create a startup, it was just roadblock after roadblock.
The country is from the ground up designed to limit foreign influences. There is a reason 98% of the population is Japanese.
@Anti-Matter Subjective in both regards, but understandable. Personally I prefer the asymmetric analogues over the symmetric ones. Making the Xbox controllers superior, though the dual sense controller is really nice.
@Stocksy I’d completely disagree with this. ActiBlizz has not released nor is scheduled to release anything outside of cod for the near future. They were/are a dying company with 2 core products (wow and cod)
In this instance, it’s almost certain to expand on the diversity of games the acti/blizz division will put out. So no, not a reduction as you are saying.
I think we’re going to be fine, in fact, as a long time acti/blizz game supporter, I’m looking forward to this change. It’d be wonderful to see gamepass with cod/wow available on switch.
Note: I too am a gpu subscriber with a series x, series s, ps5, 2 switches, a gaming pc, and more. All of which is completely irrelevant to this entire conversation.
I completely agree with the author here. As a 40 year old executive with 2 kids, the days of ultra long gaming sessions are long gone.
I find that in the time available, its more efficient to play games on the easiest setting so as to not waste time, but to also enjoy the widest gamut of titles possible while being able to perform the other functions of life which are honestly far more important at an optimum level.
In short, easy modes mean I can have a gaming hobby. Otherwise id likely only be able to play 1 or two games a year. Additionally, as i manage teams of people at work, I find it soothing to cut through games on easy, which is enjoyable as opposed to throwing controllers and acting like a coke addict without a fix. Just me though lol
Honestly, Sonic Forces was an odd one for me. First time I played it was on the Switch, and I blew right through the game, enjoying every minute. Second time i started playing it was on my ps pro and it just didnt feel right.
I still think its a good game, but I think you really have to be in the right frame of mind for it. The same actually applied to me for Mania. First run on switch it was easily my favorite sonic to date. Tried it on my Xbox X and it just didnt feel as good.

Re: Visions Of Mana Announced By Square Enix, But Not For Switch
Secret of Mana is my favorite game ever, so this one really excites me. Stinks its not on switch yet, but maybe itll be on the oft rumored successor?
Ive all platforms so not too worried, but i love my switch for ease of gaming.

Re: Talking Point: What's The Most Difficult Mainline Mario Game?
@Banjo- oddly enough, im the complete opposite. I loved odyssey, but didnt click with smb64 or sunshine.

Re: Video: We Compare Super Mario RPG On Switch To The SNES Original
Im really excited about this one. It looks great. Better than I remember the original being and it sounds great too.
Im wondering though if they managed to keep the hidden ff boss in it though.

Re: Soapbox: 'Switch 2' Doesn't Really Need Backwards Compatibility
The way games are going, with the ability to play pretty much anything anywhere, id say it is essential.
I know I wouldnt buy it if its not bc, i have 2 switches. I dont want more consoles. (I sell or toss all my old ones)
Re: Feature: "I Don't Want To Copy" - Paying Homage To Childhood RPGs With Sea Of Stars
@CoastersPaul I skipped the demo when I read it was a slice of the middle of the game. I much prefer demos like octopath 2s where progression carries.

Re: Pokémon Company's COO Addresses Issue Between Release Schedule And Game Quality
Scarlet/violet are still the best in the series to me. Bugs do not lessen the fun of being able to actually play with your children.

Re: Video: Red Dead Redemption Side-By-Side Graphics Comparison (Switch & Xbox 360)
Honestly outside of the switch version looking brighter, I dont see much of a difference.
I mean, I think the switch ver does look better, but the difference is so minuscule that I can barely tell.
I also wonder how the 360 ver through the series x would compare.
Re: Talking Point: Will You Pay $50 For Red Dead Redemption On Switch?

Re: Memory Pak: Secret Of Mana's Dazzling World Of Colour Opened My Eyes
@whitemage Same, primarily the main theme. It lends itself well to lullaby use.

Re: Astral Chain Is Now Fully Owned By Nintendo, Says PlatinumGames
Well. Ive been holding out on this one for a big sale. Now that its nintendo owned, thats out the door.
I just cant justify paying more than $20 foe this one, but I really want to try it out.
Re: Platinum Celebrates The First Anniversary Of Its Switch Exclusive Astral Chain
How about s sale then lol.
Ive been wanting to try this out, but without a means to actually try(ie a demo), i cant justify more than $30.
