I love this, and hope they amount to new titles or solid remasters. However, I still don't see phantasy star here. Id kill for an hd-2d or hd remaster of any of the ps games. I personally have a special love for ps3, which I know many disliked, but for me it was way ahead of its time and an all around masterpiece that is always overlooked.
Aside from that, there are so many great sega games out there. I was always on the sega side over nintendo in the old days. So their IPs were better for me. Eternal Champions CD could also use a nice remaster.
I think the review is spot on from the limited time Ive spent with it. I got it on gamepass for my ally xbox x but I cant imagine its any different on any platform.(you could probably put it on the sega saturn with a little effort)
Needless to say, its a fun little title with some repetition. Not great, but surprisingly not nearly as bad as it looks.
@Contes Those kinda sound like you problems. Ive never once detached the joycons by accident in any scenario, the screen is actually quite nice, and the button makes chat easy.
@Bolt_Strike Ill just say, grass is always greener.
I lived abroad (Japan, China, etc) for the better part of 2 decades, and while there were certainly great things there and I recommend everyone who can take a stab at living outside of your home country, I still found my way back stateside for reasons other than politics. There are some things that are just nicer here depending on your own situation. My wife and I will probably move back to asia when we retire, but for now the US is a good place so long as you ignore politics. (And yes, thats easily done)
Also, Ill say this now, dont let money be a factor in choosing whether or not to live abroad. As long as you have a degree, you have a way. In my case, i moved abroad with nothing but a backpack and a few hundred dollars.(and a job lined up) if you dont have a degree its a bit harder, but not impossible.
Hmm, As someone who doesnt like the gba zelda games and doesnt like any metroid game, I can only agree with the rest of the top 10. Id probably place the golden sun games higher than ffvi, but aside from that, the overarching list is a good reminder that there were some amazing games on that little device.
I dont say this enough, but as an american, Thankyou Europe. First you give us universal type c, now replaceable batteries. Sadly thatll never happen in the us, were too busy finding new ways to pry money out of peoples hands.
@KingMike I personally loved WDs translations. Not because they were accurate so to say, but rather because they were more of a localization than a translation. Popful Mail was brilliant, and The lunar sega cd versions were easily my favorite. The new ones seem kinda mundane by comparison.
As a native english speaker who also speaks/reads chinese and japanese, Im gonna say meh to his opinion that english is simple.
There are parts of any language that are more complicated than other languages. General grammar is probably harder in japanese, but english has its own complexities for nuance.
Also, there is the sheer size of english vs Japanese.
English words - 1,000,000+ Japanese words - ~200,000
I read this as "were making a pc that plays old xbox games" as opposed to being a new xbox.
I mean, there is no reason for devs to make xbox exclusive games when they can make pc games that will automatically run. Xbox itself will become one of many digital storefronts and the console will need to be sold at profit else it doesnt make fiscal sense.
This is MS getting out of the console business without leaving pc, nothing more.
Bought mine in either late 06 or early 07 when I was living in japan. Used it for the japanese to english dictionary software you could get.
Never really played many games until the mew 3ds came out. That said, here I am 19 or so years later and it still runs fine. (Though Its more of a closet piece)
So its basically minecraft with pokemon. Ill pass, no time for builder games. I may pick it up for my 10 year old daughter though, she likes Pokémon and Minecraft.
I still have my new 3ds xl and its in near perfect condition due to the case and screen protectors i hot for it.
Its been through hell too. 4 years of daily commutes on a bus and then i passed it to my then 3 year old daughter until the switch oled came out and she got my old switch.
Great games, built like a tank, and to this day just a fun little device
Id have to disagree with all of this list. I didnt like the n64 or gcn mario tennis games at all.
I enjoyed aces a lot, and 3 hours into fever and liking it a lot too. The vb tennis game is solid, as is the 3ds one.
Wii one was meh, never played the wiiu or gbc releases but cant imagine the gbc was any good since its a gbc and all games were kinda meh on that platform.
I stopped playing this game about 5 hours in when it was new. Too blurry for me. So when I saw this in the eshop today I jumped at it.
And Im so happy I did because the game is crisp now. And while I dont really notice the frame rate bump, I absolutely notice the smoothing out of dips. Where it would almost pause in certain scenarios its now buttery smooth.
Normally Id balk at a simple $5 upgrade with no new content, this one was well worth it. Im 2 hours in today and am likely to finish it.
I was a day 1 adopter in 95, thought it was fun but it definitely gave me a headache and made me hunch over. Mario tennis is one of my favorite tennis games ever made. Only thing I really miss since selling my vb some 15+ years ago.
Preordered the full unit here day 1, looking forward to it.My only disappointment was finding out it didnt come with the controller. I want the vb controller too!
I downloaded the demo on S2, but have not gotten to playing it yet. From the video and pics, seems like the S2 looks nicer than the Series S but performs worse. It looks ok compared to the PS5 as well. I wonder if there is an option to drop it to 30fps.
Not bad. I see a lot of whining on other sites about the lack of exclusive titles, but were pretty much past the exclusive third party era(thankfully) so its just a bunch of bitter old people who cant accept change.
I personally love the opportunity to now play a few of these titles on s2.
I enjoyed the game so far, but I have run into a wall where I can’t seem to beat a boss and the save point is like 30 min before. (I’m playing on the easiest setting too)
Not sure I’ll ever get around to playing it again.
I was avoiding playing this because earlier games were always annoyingly hard. If this one is easier, Ill have to give it a go since ive loved the FE games since the 3ds releases in the early 10s. (I always skipped the series prior since Im not a fan of challenging titles)
I tbink I completely forgot to comment on the game. Got it yesterday after reading this article. As a yellow lab owner and fishing hobbyist, this is an absolutely spectacular title. Only issue i have is that i got a fancy boat and wanted to save, but hit new game and it wiped everything. No biggie, but i didnt think of it like a roguelike
@StorminNorman that was a hyperbole, but I dont disagree. Mearly saying that it seems akward to use those acronyms.
One of these days Im going to feel truly old when articles are loaded with words my 10 year old daughter uses like rizz, low-key(in a specific context), and slay.
I miss the good old days of rad, spiffy, dude, and all the other retired lingo from the tmnt era....
Switch 2 for me, but the fps is irrelevant on this type of game so its really just because its the better of the two. (Ive been 100% digital for as long as its been feasible, but did buy 2 keycards just because people were whining about them. (NBA2k26 and Madden)
That said, excited about this one as DQ7 is my favorite in the series.
Im essentially the same age, very similar traditions(I tend to play Phantasy Star 3, Secret of Mana, Lunar, or OG Sonic on xmas, but SF2 was a life changer along with MK)
One thing I dont get is Mr Blobby. Is that a UK thing? Because I dont remember ever hearing about that until today. We had Barney which was horrifying, but not Me. Blobby.
@HingryHuppo I have to say I agree. The color seems off in the s2 video, always too dark or too light, details seem to get washed out or hidden as a result, resulting in a poorer quality shot.
I dont care at all about 60fps, makes no difference to me in how it plays. Ill take a stable 30 and a better appearance/resolution/textures anyday of the week.
As for this particular release, ill have to pass. I bought the og on switch(as well as numerous other editions on various platforms) and have never gotten more than 10 hours in. If Im going to play it, itll be on my xbox ally x via the pc anniversary edition on gamepass.
A solid 8 for me. I say this while being unable to find any real faults. Its an extremely polished game as far as I can tell(5+ hours in on s2 version)
It just lacks that special "it" factor to raise it higher for me. I am enjoying it a lot and do recommend it to anyone who likes fps games.
I really enjoyed the first 2 in this series. Sure they were not the prettiest, nor the best controlling titles. However, they filled a space on the switch that needed filling.
Would I get them if forza or forza horizon were on the switch 2? Not likely. But id pick it up if those are not on the platform yet.
@BBBBBBBBBBB Experts leveraging it is "learning how to use it" though.
Additionally, the time it saves for work related tasks(have it make a deck based on notes from the past year for example) is not insignificant in many ways.
There are absolutely ways to leverage AI in a way that removes mundane work from offices, allowing people to focus on more engaging work.
We will see what happens, but AI is here to stay. As for the coca cola commercial, I never understood the internet uproar on it. Looked fine to me.
@BBBBBBBBBBB While I have nothing against AI and its use in games, I am one of those who fully agrees that AI will and is currently impacting creativity in the younger generations.
I saw this at work nearly every day where people were using AI to generate reports loaded with emojis and such, without fact checking the content. Let's just say it was a disaster since AI is about 90% accurate at this point. Sometimes it will nail things perfectly, but it will drop key points on a regular basis.
Like anything else, we will need to work with it to improve efficiency. Fighting it is not the way though. We should embrace it, but learn how to best implement it. Its gonna be a nightmare in the short term for sure.
Im GenX and I dont really care about AI used in games. Back in the early days we were lucky to even get fingers in games, now we may get 8 per hand, which is an upgrade.
In all seriousness, for 99% of it, I dont really get the uproar. I get people are worried about there jobs, and rightfully so, but as a consumer my primary concern is only what I am consuming. And if AI and non-AI are so similar that I cant really tell the difference, than to me, its of no concern.
There will always be a need for real artists because AI is derivative. Then again, people are usually derivative at this point as well.....
Not really a problem other than it being slow as usual for nintendo.i have a 2gb connection but never get above 200mb wired, i get 300ish wifi so i just use that. (I get way better from my pspro and series x, my iphone gets 1.2-1.5gb due to wifi7 6ghz compat(although its only 120hz so its half baked)

Ahh Tariffs, a useful tool in targeted instances and absolutely idiotic when applied in a global way.
I know as an American Ive fully enjoyed paying more for everything I like. Noodles, tea, electronics, car parts, and pretty much everything else.
Only 33 months to go....

Re: Fans Are Asking Nintendo To Refund Xenoblade Chronicles X's Switch 2 Upgrade
Ive got a couple hours into the s2 upgrade on handheld and havent noticed anything. Still gorgeous to me.
Not saying it doesnt have an issue somewhere, but these folks wanting refunds for a $5 update that likely works 95% of the time is a bit silly.

No switch 2 means no purchase. It is that simple. Though Ill probably hold off on any version unless they make some significant updates this year.

Re: Reminder: Virtual Boy For Switch And Switch 2 Are Available On The My Nintendo Store
Got mine preordered. Having had the original at launch and more than half the games listed, I am under no disillusion as to what I am getting.
This is likely to get played a few times and then relegated to being a display piece.
Also, the video at the top was pretty clear I thought in saying that games will be drip fed and not out all at once.
Either way, excited for this to join my collection of classic nintendo controllers I dont use but look nice on display.

Re: Video: Skyrim Still Isn't 60fps On Switch 2, But Here's How It Fares Against Switch 1
Nice that they have it on s2 now though.
