Re: EA Confirms Vancouver Team Will Produce FIFA 18 on Nintendo Switch

Rumncoke25

@idrawrobots
And this one gets it. I don't care whose graphics it is better than, or any of that. I love FIFA, millions love FIFA, portable FIFA is a win. The modes matter. Ultimate is a must if you want to compete, and story mode is important too.

Get the Switch a comparable game mode wise and it will sell believe me.

Re: Review: Fire Emblem Heroes (Mobile)

Rumncoke25

ITs a fun bite size game that happens to use characters we know and love. Game would still be fun without FE at all. I hate freemium but they have given out lots of orbs and stamina potions. Also I have only spent 20 orbs on characters and I have 2 5 star and 2 4 star. The gacha element actually gives you decent characters.

The game is a bit more simplistic battle wise, I would love to have 5-6 character battles, but oh well. I think the pvp will soon have people that are uber op, but really unless you stare trying to get an alll 5 star team or just want a team made of certain characters, you don't have to pay a cent.

Re: You Can Play ARMS With One Joy-Con, But It's Not Recommended

Rumncoke25

@Nintendoer
As a person jay wasn't hyped, I don't think it looked bad, but to me personally it looked a prettier Wii boxing. Hearing that there are. Ore people than the ones shown, and more modes makes me open to it a bit more, but full price open?

I think I would need to demo it to see how fun it is, and would need to know there is a deep single player campaign to consider it. I love boxing games, and if it's a boxing meets dmc sort of insanity it could be lots of fun.

Re: Nintendo Switch Version Of For Honor Out Of The Question Right Now

Rumncoke25

Can't say I have cared about For Honor at all. But some people do. And not getting 3rd party support will hurt the Switch. This game has been ages in development, so of course it was never going to come out for the Switch. In the next several months, stories have to come out saying what games are coming instead of what isn't

Re: Editorial: No, Nintendo Switch Isn't Having a 'Soft Launch', But The Perception is a Problem

Rumncoke25

@aaronsullivan
Correct. I know a lot of Wii U owners feel betrayed. Maybe they should, idk because I had no interest in the Wii U. And I had the Switch preordered morning after the presentation. I don't like Zelda, I have never finished a Zelda game, never played wind water or majoras mask or ocarina of time( titles my roomie swears are essential) but I have preordered the switch and BOTW.

I can understand why Wii U owners don't take the plunge. But ninitendo is trying to get those of us who hadn't bought in yet. I think it's smart to ride your Wii U out until you feel there is a reason to switch- but I feel pretty ok with the switch to complement my PS4

Re: Feature: Nintendo Switch Countdown - Considering the Joy-Con

Rumncoke25

I will say the joy cons will make or break this system. Because developers being able to use them correctly will to an extent determine what third party support the NS gets and how good the ports will be.

I'm fairly excited to see how HD rumble is used, but the lack of a d pad for this PlayStation lifer is distressing. Hopefully the joy cons are easy to get used to.

Re: Super Mario Odyssey, Breath of the Wild and Splatoon 2 Lead Switch Reveal Trailer Views

Rumncoke25

@impurekind
That's fair enough. I'm from America, Miami Florida to be exact. I have a pal in brentford england, I go to London every couple years, and it is firm Sony country from what I saw. I'm a Sony guy, I have been since the PS2. I haven't bought a ninty system EXCEPT the 3ds, for the portability and the rpg love.

I think you get an unfair rap from some posters. I actually think you want Nintendo to succeed. I don't think they have done a great job with the Switch so far. I do think the releasing 1st party games over time is a good tactic. I think having STRONG 3rd party support is a better tactic.

I'm not a typical Ninty fan. I often looked at the games when others played and said not for me. I know he average John Q. Public is going to compare the Switch price to what's in the stores now, not to the launch prices years ago. That does concern me, but I think the best way to battle that is to release bundles, say a Mario bundle with the game downloaded for 299 over the holidays. Then maybe throw out a "switch master" edition with another color, plus Mario and Zelda for 400.

I just don't see where the big N would realistically cut prices to compete with pricing now. Must have games wil capture the public, and special editions and/or options will get some of the true believers to double dip.

Re: Super Mario Odyssey, Breath of the Wild and Splatoon 2 Lead Switch Reveal Trailer Views

Rumncoke25

I think BOTW is going to be a contender for GOTY, that's from a guy that is hyped to play it, same guy who watched my roomie play wind waker for 5 minutes and left bored. I'm so not into Zelda, and I think his game looks really fun. Like link got brought into the skyrim era.

But it's going to be tough for it to get people as excited as Mario, because, it's Mario. I thought Super Mario 3 was great, and I liked watching my nephew play Sunshine because of the music and visuals. I've never bought a Mario game, but I anticipate buying that over he holidays.

The drip drop method of releasing games i think is the perfect strategy for the big N. All they need is to get some third party support to throw in between the big hitters and I smell a winner.

Re: Soapbox: Think of 1-2-Switch as Less of a "Video Game" and Suddenly It Gets Better

Rumncoke25

Yea video game, game, experience, call it what you will. I call it too expensive, I mean for $10 more, I get the full open world experience of BOTW. How do you sell that as value?

I think it is an ok party game, but I would really say 4+ is needed to really enjoy. 2 to play and an audience to watch and cheer and be able to switch up who is playing. I don't think my girlfriend and I would get the a lot of use just between the two of us.

To each their own I guess, but $20-$25 would make this look more appealing to the masses.

Re: Video: A Good Look at Why the Nintendo Switch Isn't Comparable to the Wii U GamePad

Rumncoke25

Wow that's a lot more...hi tech than I thought. I mean it looks like a premium piece of tech. And the size it's so much smaller than I first thought. This should be a lot more comfortable to game with than some here have griped.

This bodes well for portability. It might not be in your front pocket( neither was my 3ds) but I usually have my backpack between school and work, so no problem at all.

No slight intended, but that gamepad looks a huge mess. They could have streamlined that and made it smaller by a third.

Re: Fire Emblem Heroes Starts Strongly in Japan as Nintendo's Share Value Soars

Rumncoke25

I like the game. A lot more than I thought. But I have stated the gacha mechanic is one I despise and one that will actually make big N the most money.

The lesson here is forget charging premium prices for a premium game. Get it out free, and have a concept like gacha that will get a hundred thousand to drop $5, and investors all the sudden are in love. It's the sad state of mobile gaming.

Re: Guide: Starting the Battle in Fire Emblem Heroes

Rumncoke25

After a day of playing, it's supper shallow but that's to be expected. It's fine in bite size chunks at work, I got get my 4 star tiki as well as a 4 star sully and two other 3 star that I didn't know to start. Usually most freemium games give you crap 2 star characters.

I can see the gacha becoming the main source of income for this game

Re: Tatsumi Kimishima Expects Nintendo Switch To Sell "About As Well" As The Wii

Rumncoke25

I think I have a better shot at hitting the lottery than the Switch hitting 100 mill. With that said, there would need to be a focus on the switch( no successor). A price drop and/or a few diff skus, a KILLER announcement at E3(I mean like a Pokémon coming exclusive in 2018 sort of announcement) and a marketing blitz to get casuals into wanting the Switch.

I think 50 mill is much more achievable, but shoot for the stars...

Re: Tatsumi Kimishima Talks About a Potential 3DS Successor

Rumncoke25

It was worrisome to me at first but after reading and thinking, I guess it's a concept rather than a "we are working on the successor". They need to consolidate the devs on the switch, and if it fails then I guess work on a successor. But the quickest way to ensure it to fail is not to pool resources on it.

Logically, I understand diversification. But...I'm a big fan of kitchen nightmares, and Gordon Ramsey once said" the business owner who has several interests is a business owner doomed to fail. I want an owner who is focused and hungry, who runs his business as it must succeed or I've lost everything."

Nintendo would do well to treat the Switch as if it's all they have and put their all into it, rather than looking for an "out" before they are even in.

Re: 3DS Titles Pushed Down by New Releases in Japanese Charts

Rumncoke25

I have re7 on my PS4, took me about 4 days to come around from ehh to good game. I wasn't enamored with the 1st hour or so of gameplay at all.

Anyway...

While the switch needs to get a fps to really garner mainstream attention, I was more wishing kingdom hearts would make its way to the switch instead. But hopefully there is some major third party love coming at e3

I was pretty astounded at the 2ds numbers. I have never really seen anyone in Florida where I live playing one.

Re: Nintendo Outlines Pricing Range for Switch Online Service

Rumncoke25

I do hope there is a direct on this soon. The discount especially, if this is a deep discount(30-40%) I can see a lot of naysayers getting a year just to buy several games. And that's profit for Nintendo, in game sales, and in the subscription for people that won't play much and therefor don't tax the system.

Let's not forget what that buys them in goodwill. Many people are already swung from how dare they charge to that's not bad. A good discount on games with this is a win-win.

Re: Video: Nintendo Pushes The Social Play Angle With Switch Super Bowl Commercial

Rumncoke25

Bravo Nintendo! There are several events that I think the big N needs to hit. Super Bowl. Maybe sponsorship on a few premier league or champions league games. Get some ads in the airports.

Only way this would be better? If there was a madden to advertise. You got the football audience seeing football...on the go. Timing wouldn't work obviously. I'm hoping they continue the ads leading up to E3, keep the buzz up leading to the holidays.

Re: Nintendo Outlines Pricing Range for Switch Online Service

Rumncoke25

I am glad to hear the pricing is low, if for no other reason than to allay the fears of some that I have read here. I'm not sure if I will pay, I have a few months to see. I have literally never played online on my PS4 on anything other than FIFA. And not often on that. So we will see, I have been recommended Splatoon by many here, even though I have frowned at every online shooter I have seen my roomie play.

Is it weird that I actually am more interested in the Nes/Snes loans? I always wanted to play super Mario 3, and I played a bit of river city ransom on a friends ds, and would also like to play it on the switch.

Re: Kimishima on the Role of the 3DS After the Switch Launch

Rumncoke25

@Timppis
This so much this. I don't want to take anything away from 3ds owners. I have one myself it's the only ninty product I have ever bought before the Switch. But developers are going to make cheaper games for the 3ds and not put the backing behind the switch.

No one is saying to kill the 3ds off now. But splitting the development and is going to handicap the switch. There has to be some major work for the Switch this year to release games in 2018, if those games go to the 3ds instead, it will cripple The switch.

Re: Fire Emblem Heroes Microtransaction Prices and Early Impressions Emerge

Rumncoke25

This is shameless predation of the highest(aka normal iOS) order. Paying to get energy to play. Random hero collecting that will give the common 1-3 star over and over and is impossible to get a good character. Probably a steep ramp of difficulty punishing those that won't spend.

.....

And with that said I'll play it, I love FE. I won't spend a cent for a "random" character. I won't pay for stamina. If it's a good game, and you can buy a specific character for a REASONABLE fee, say $5, then I have no problem spending 5-10 on a good game. But these type of games rarely are good, I downloaded and deleted the kingdom heart and final fantasy ftp games without ever spending a cent for that very reason.

Re: NieR: Automata Designer is Open to the Idea of a Switch Port

Rumncoke25

I was looking to get this for my PS4, not at release, but in the next few months. I will hold off to see if there is news for the Switch, I would rather have the ability to play any game in the go. Unless it becomes gimped beyond all recognition that is.

With that said, I would rather have kingdom hearts than bayonetta or automata.

Re: Feature: The Rollercoaster Ride of Nintendo's Financial Reports

Rumncoke25

I won't say I understand the nikkei, nor do I understand the rationale behind half of the investors moves. I will say that Pokémon and the 3ds made the lions share of profit for the big N. now that's worrisome to some, but I counter- the Wii U looks to have contributed next to nothing. Do we expect the Switch to only contribute the same amount he Wii U did?

E3 needs to bring out the big guns. There needs to be at least one bundle for the holidays( Mario?) and I think Ninty goes into 2018 in a good position. Of course a 2018 Pokémon switch announcement would be a 🎤 dropper.

Re: 3DS Enjoys Bumper End To 2016 With Hardware And Software Sales Both Up

Rumncoke25

The 3ds has been a great machine. I have been very loyal to Sony, and jumped on the vita bandwagon, but bought a 3ds a year later and willl admit, I played it more in a year than I played the vita period.

I'm torn, I love the rpgs and niche games on the 3ds, but I worry that the success of the 3ds will lead to games going there instead of the Switch. And I personally want as much rpg goodness to play on my switch as possible. Is it possible for both consoles to succeed and developers to make games for both?

Re: Zelda-Inspired RPG Oceanhorn Re-Confirmed for Switch

Rumncoke25

It's a good game, I have it on my iPhone, and yes it's a blatant rip off. But it is really well done. I doubt I double dip for the switch, but it's a good option for those that haven't played it to be able to get it.

Now I will say that there is no reason for this to be anywhere near a full price game. 14.99 tops and I think it could sell.

Re: Review: Pokémon Duel (Mobile)

Rumncoke25

I downloaded this game, thinking it would be a goood time waster. I played two matches and deleted it. Too random, and I don't like what looks to be pay to get a decent Pokémon. I didn't give it much of a chance but there didn't seem much here.

I kinda feel like if they took off the Pokémon skins, this game probably would be considered blasé.

Re: Yooka-Laylee Formally Confirmed for Switch Along With Wii U Backer Options

Rumncoke25

@Not_Soos
Very new lol. I had a friend as a kid that has goldeneye, we would make sleepovers with friends and sneak and play all night. Once I got old enough, I bought a ps2, then a PS3, now a PS4. Never really played on the big N, but he Switch got my attention and preorder.

Anyway, sorry for the life story, I'll try not to annoy with too many questions.

Re: Poll: What Are Your Nintendo Switch Pre-Order and Launch Day Plans?

Rumncoke25

Neon switch and BOTW Master Edition preordered. Case comes with, so that saves a day one purchase. I have a large external battery pack and 64gb card already, so that's all I need to preorder.

I'm actually ok with just Zelda. I have a PS4, and horizon, andromeda, and P5 will be taking some of the Switch play time once they come out, so one game is perfect for me. I will have plenty to play to tide me over to E3

Re: Feature: Nindies and Nintendo Switch - Developers Reflect on the New Console

Rumncoke25

@roboshort
Just a guess from my social circle, I think awkward is the word used when people mean unfocused. One portion of the event seemed ultra slick, then it seemed..casual focused. Vital expected details that many of us expected were not mentioned at first, and most. It mentioned at all. Add in the weird slips in translation and it just...meandered? Is that what I'm looking for?

It's like when you order curry and expect heat and instead get a mild blast. It's probably not bad, but def not what you were expecting or looking for. I'm pretty new to the big N, maybe that's just how they roll? Hopefully E3 they stick to games
