I actually have never been in a GAME store. I walked past a few but my mate warned me against even going down that path. I can't say whether they are bad but I never have been warned against another store from my mate, not even GameStop.
As for the Switch, every person and company that has faith in it is great. For me, everything I hear are empty platitudes. Nothing and I mean NOTHING matters to me anymore except concrete games announcements and E3. I love the Switch, it still gets more play than Mass Effect(which im not sure whether I really like or not yet), but I am focused on E3.
Nothing will get consumers to have confidence and buy in like big announcements of concrete games.
I guess I'm the only one that thought building this cardboard Switch for his younger brother was sweet. I have a younger sister, and I could t have been bothered to spend a hour of my day trying to make her happy.
lol the infamous stability update. Every time I see an update for "stability" I roll my eyes and I haven't updated about 18 apps for that very reason. I'm sure I'll update my Switch, but how hard would it be to just say what an update does?
I'm not sure what games to ask for. I don't play a ton of Ubisoft/ far cry was ok I guess, but honestly I don't want a port of something several years old. I don't think South Park is coming because they said it isn't. Assassins creed I guess if it's a new one.
Basically they should bring over multiplat games. If you have a big one that is multiplat, design for the Switch as well. Apparently they got burned with the Wii U, so I doubt that is going to happen. Seems to me the best way to sell is to sell concurrently, not months later .
I do think Switch owners would like some fps love. If the switch is to really take off with mainstream players, they need mainstream options. I'm. It saying every fps, but there's needs to be a coupe quality fps options just like there needs to be quality sports options.
YES. I actually played secret of mana on the iPhone, and from therrr looked into the series. It looks like a series I would enjoy. Hopefully this is a western release.
I'm a PS4 gamer who hasn't played any of the dark souls game. I was mildly interested but reading about them, I got a lot of condescending" git good" vibes when people talked about the game.
Anyway, I doubt this is a confirmation or denial since it was just a "yeah". Not sure what else the company has made besides dark souls and bloood born though, so I say it's 50-50.
@cfgk24 I'm sure you aren't alone. I have a PS4 that wasn't my go to gaming console, my girlfriend bought me a Xbox one in January and I had 2 games for it. No disrespect to any fans, I just bought all my games on the PS4, it's what I was used to.
Anyway I got excited for the portability of the Switch and I have never had a Nintendo console EXCEPT for my original 3ds. So I traded my Xbox one and 3ds for a Switch(special at game stop, I actually paid for the entire Switch and a portion of breath of the wild with that credit). But weird thing is I play in the dock about 35-40% of the time.
It's worrying to me that the resources that I feel should go to the Switch might go to the 3ds, but it is a great machine, so I definitely understand you rolling with that as your portable.
It's almost like the Switch lets you choose how you want to game 😏
Another +1. In fact +10. I think the biggest misstep Ninty can make is not going all in on the Switch. And no 3ds owners I'm. It saying "no soup for you". I'm saying that if they push this as a joke console and 3ds as a portable, they shoot themselves in the foot.
Are 3ds owners going to run out and buy a Switch for home gaming? Probably not. Will Switch owners buy a 3ds for portable fun? Definitely not. Nintendo has to get the big hitters to release on the Switch. Pokémon, monster hunter, animal crossing, yokai watch. It feels like they expect people to double dip and consumers aren't going to do that.
I expect Nintendo brass to realize that sooner than later.
@wiggleronacid +1 I've been relatively ho hum on E3 the last 2 years, to the point hat I didn't even watch coverage. Part of that was due to having both school and work admittedly, but even when at home I didn't watch. It was easier to just look over highlight online.
This is the first E3 I intend to be watching as much as I can, and 75% of that is looking forward to Nintendo actually dropojgna few hype bombs for my Switch. If there was ever a time to let some cats out of the bag, this will be it.
My cuz had a genesis. I was too young(hence too broke lol) to have one, but I remember too games from being at is house. Altered beast, and sonic. I thought it was so cool to move so fast.
Now, I'm not sure I would love what was basically an ahead of its time runner. Color me curious, I'll wait to see how this plays before I say I'm intrigued. I get tired of platformers unless they bring really interesting power ups, or it is polished to perfection.
Thanks to all for the replies. It's great news that slop play is an option. All my info came from older monster hunter, and of course I've not played since. Really looking forward to a Switch version( no Wii U).
I'll make sure to look for some friends here to maybe team up with when the time comes.
Again, the key to gambling is knowing when you have a winning hand. You always double down when you do. Maximize your success. Right now it APPEARS the Switch is a winning hand, how can anyone criticize Nintendo doubling down? Win or lose, you bet o yourself.
Can I Say yes to both? It is optimistic and it is ambitious to double production, but that's what they need to do. I'm as new to Nintendo as you can be and I already feel that part of the problem is not going all in. They are still behind the 3ds, they haven't really pushed any games yet(I'm giving them until E3 to unleash), and they came out with a small number of units.
I get that you don't want to overplay your hand in business, but the consumers want to see confidence right now. If big N isn't all in on their baby, why should anyone want to go all in to the time of $400 approximately. The Switch is a great concept that has ha d a very good start. History remembers the daring.
Would be REALLY interesting if I owned anything Nintendo besides the Switch....
No surprise to any that have read my posts, but never played a Monster Hunter game. I was interested but all I heard is that you need to have a team, and I play mostly single player. Is this yet another franchise that punishes those who don't have a lot of friends that also game?
As much as I love permadeath in the real FE, it would be terrible for those that spent money to acquire characters to lose them. That smells of faulty mechanic to grab more money to me.
I do think a update is great. I stoped playing 2 weeks in and really just check in for orbs and do the new character missions. I might actually summon with the 50 some orbs I have and see if I can get more 5 stars for the update. I only had 3 so far
Umm not sure why anyone though a game that was announced in 2015 was ever coming to the Switch. The first games that will have a chance to be announced to come to Switch will be ones states this year.
However, I do t get why there are "game blank not comeong to switch " twice a week. If I didn't think Nintendolife liked Nintendo, I would think it was subliminally trolling. I get it, click sit. And there are several(you know who you are 😏) who love to see these articles.
It would be nice to know there are any developers that intend to release on my console du jour, but I've accepted not to know a thing until E3
@Donutman Idk if it's awesome that your son is killing it, or lame of me that he has completed 10 more shrines than me 🤔😉.
She takes the games too seriously, it's like if she isn't instant good she doesn't want to play. I died all the time, as a parameter to see what I couldn't and couldn't accomplish. For what it's worth, I have gotten her into picking out things to cook, and see what happens. She says it like elf cooking mama, which made me think of chef hat link amiibo that could give you recipe bonuses.
Thanks for the suggestions. You know that the most RPG like game that she seemed interested in? Animal crossing. She likes the whole change clothes, equip the house, run their life aspect. She actually plays the sims. She doesn't like quick twitch thing of combat. And doesn't really like fighting, or else I would say she might like ARMS.
Anyway, I trust Big N will bring the games, and that casuals like my girlfriend will be interested
This isn't going to be a trial, because I think most early adopters grabbed all the titles they wanted at once rather than a copy now and more later. Also most that wanted the Switch(or could find ok w after they decided they wanted one belatedly) already bought one.
I expect numbers to drive down weekly, Big N needs to get stock out asap. Honestly though, until Mario Kart, is there anything to bring in non gaming diehards? I love Zelda, but I have had moments of frustration, I have gamed since I was 9( 17 years). My girlfriend refuses to touch Zelda because she said it looks confusing, and hard. She will only play 1,2 Switch and she is excited about playing Mario kart.
It will be interesting to see if numbers can hold on until then.
First off, sorry for the L that Chelsea put on MU( Blue too I die lol).
I love to take my Switch on the go. Doctor appointments, trips to my girlfriends family's house, work, school. The only thing I haven't done yet is to take it on a long road trip. I always drive, so it isn't a situation that I see coming up much. Still it was informative to learn diff games use more or less power. Thinking about it, I guess that's common sense.
As a Sony fan, I loved the idea of what the Vita was SUPOSSED to be. Execution was terrible and Sony gave up on what I thought would be a revolutionary machine. Fast forward to my roomie telling me about this crazy machine called NX, some super secret thing Nintendo was making, a company that I always saw as a kiddie machine. And so my Nintendolife started. The Switch does everything I thought the Vita would do, but better. Personally I'm about 50% portable, 40% home console, 10% table top.
The Switch allows my gaming to adjust to what has become a pretty hectic life. Here's to what I hope to be a long gaming relationship.
This is great news for a start. 2 mill should be a no brained for march. The question is when is stock going to be available, and how will Thai continue to sell at that point. If they can get product on shelves for April, and they advertise Mario Kart ahead of time so people(aka non Nintendo fans) are aware of a fun game that even casuals can play....yes momentum may carry over into the next month.
The real test is going to be this summer, as there will be months of data by then, and to see what type of buzz Big N can generate at E3.
I never have heard of this game until seeing it here. I love how it has the old school vibe with a modern art style. If this game is reasonably priced, I intend on giving it a try. I'm sure it won't be a physical release but I would dgital purchase if I had to.
I'm looking forward to see what the fuss is about with Splatoon. Many here have told me it's so much fun. The problem is my purchase will weigh heavily on how strong of a single player campaign there is. I don't play online much and avoid most of shooters on my PS4 for that reason. So the testfore won't affect my thoughts much if at all.
For me this will be more of a referendum on how the online play for the Switch works.
I've never played bomberman, but it looks like fun on Mp. Not sure there is enough there in single player for me . Still good to see that the fans got what they wanted
Hopefully they get stock in before April, or else this demand will cool. Having units to sell alongside Mariokart will only help. I wish they had come out with more color options, I got the neon more because I didn't want gray, by green and gold(zelda) or white and blue(glacial tones) would have both been preferable for me.
Of course they will release color bundles next year, so I guess I'll just have to buy more joy cons then.
Amen. Switch was designed for those with significant others in my opinion . I have lived on my Switch when we have prolonged visits to my girlfriends moms house. I break into some Switch action when my girlfriend decides to Netflix binge(previously it was frowned upon to go to the bedroom to play my PS4, because then we weren't getting quality time).
Nintendo-saving my sanity one replayed episode of orange is the new black at a time.
Interesting review. I'm a Civs fan, I have even purchased a Civs for my mobile that I played in class sometimes. I really would love a Civs type game for the Switch eventually. This sounds closer to a FarmVille based on what I read.
I love the Switch. It is in the running for my favorite console, though. the fact my PS4 has so many great exclusives means it will be tough to knock off. Just being able to take a game like Zelda with me when I'm forced to spend time at my girlfriends family's house(yes I'm a jerk, I've been told 😋) Is a game changer.
As I have said before I have dodged 95% of the issues everyone else has mentioned. The wifi connectivity is the bane of my existence though. All said, there is room for improvement, but what launch console doesn't? I am positive that the Switch will build on what has been a solid foundation .
lol I consider myself a decent gamer, and I bet I died more in the first day of BOTW than I did in all of 2016. Mostly from exploring and seeing what I could do, but still. How can being so frail be so much fun?
Before launch I was a bit nervous, mostly due to all the negative new stuff and non news coming out. A week later? Switch is my most used console. Admittedly I'm not home a lot so that helps. But even in the house I play BOTW while yakuza 0, re7, and legend or berseria languish.
To be fair some of that is "new car smell". Everyyhg is exciting when it's new. I haven't had any issues with my Switch, BOTW is the perfect game for a Zelda noob who loves open world games., and even the girlfriend forced purchase of 1,2 Switch has turned into several bouts of fun(albeit overpriced fun 😒).
Complaints? Wifi wifi wifi. The UI needs some additions. It's very barebones. For me that's really it. I think one AAA title a month with some others games sprinkled in for different tastes is a fine strategy for the first 3-5 months. Some disagree and that's ok too. I don't like switching games in the middle of playing them because diff games require diff button presses and it throws off my tintuitive play when muscle memory has to desync game to game on a daily basis.
Hopefully everyone has received their Switch, and stock gets replenished quickly. That plus making some additions(Netflix, VC, etc) will carry the momentum into E3
I get PR it's a class I take. I get spin, I get no comments. When your every interview is "well no word on that today", why even have an interview? I get in Nintendo new. Maybe this is just how business is done. Seems to me that it would be a lot easier to just talk when you have something to say, rather than talk and say nothing.
The charity gowns are awesome. I would actually contribute money to the cause to get one of those gowns. Very cool thing to do Nintendo.
The my Nintendo stuff however... gosh when I read discount on Mario Kart, I thought it would be for preorders of the Switch version, I was all in. Then I saw it was Wii U 😔
I admit I usually like to learn on my own, but I'm getting nothing accomplished in this game. I have literally found 9 shrines. I have found the zora. Mostly I wander around fighting monsters and collections material. I have like 1400 rupees from selling monster material but haven't really found armor to buy except the Julian set.
Side note, on my monster hunts I have killed 3 hiko. The first one, I stumbled on, I still had original clothes, 3 hearts, and no arrows. I ran around throwing bombs, knocking trees over to hit this giant. It took literally 25 minutes, but I killed him when I had no right to do so. And I jumped up both doing my victory dance and crowing like a drunken fool.
Yes that sucks but I had no intention on getting more stuff at the moment. I've been lucky that my stuff doesn't have issues, I'm waiting on kinks to get ironed out before I buy any other accessories.
I was telling my girlfriend that GameStop will GameStop and that why I want to get away from them. She got me a powerup card for my bday, so I shop there and use it but I told her that when it's expired I'm out. If you play the system, you can get a decent deal. I only turn on a game I'm done with when there is a special to get like double credit towards a game I'm buying anyway, and I have no complaints.
But stuff like this is why I think GameStop is bad for gaming. They really prey on the masses that are uninformed. Some mom will come in wanting a Switch and they will push this bundle, which hey won't buy. They will go to their friends and say how the Switch costs so much, which will spread like wildfire. I have watched GameStop sell used games that cost $20 more than the new game that's on sale that week, with the sentence" the used copy is a savings" when it literally is not because of the sale that the customer isn't aware of.
How I miss having multiple game stores. As a kid part of he fun was going from bandages, to EB, to mom and pop shops and seeing what I could find.
I Vaguely remember the name wonder boy(never had a sets console, but a friend did). Of course it took me by surprise that this looks like fun. I wish wish wish it would get a physical copy. I hate digital downloads. With all the digital games coming to he Switch I think I'll end up breaking down and getting a couple.
I think that Nintendo heard the feedback and realized that they needed the apps for the public. I don't think I have ever watched any of Those things except on my phone, but I wouldn't be against having the apps on the switch. More importantly, I think the general public wants to have the apps.
I love the idea of Crunchyroll on the Switch, but is it a viable Netflix machine with its battery?
You aren't , not a thing here has happened born bothered me, knock on wood. I avoid 95% of launches for god reason. There will Ben bugs, there will be defaults. I'm lucky as nothing's has happened to me. Cost of early adopting I guess. I have never got a launch system until the Switch, because I want to let others have the problems. As long as Big N makes good on defects, that said as goodness as things get.
I will acknowledge the validity of a lot of the concerns for people. I'm not sure about the browser, seeing as the browser on my PS4 is god awful, but I guess it's easier to sell a tablet to the masses with a browser and Netflix than I thought I should with a game of the ages 😒.
Ditto. I haven't had any pixels die, no scratching, my joy cons work fine. But this console will not connect to wifi for anything. It usually takes several tries, and when it works takes minutes to connect. Mind you both laptops, my phone, my tv, my Roku, and my PS4 never had any issues. I assumed it was just me. It took me 2 day a to register my games to actually get points lol
Not being familiar with Nintendo, is there a reason they would want to delay this game coming out? You have a decent game who's developers seem to want to release on your system. What could be the problem?
This is better news than I expected. I had high hopes for America, less so for Japan, and no real thoughts of success initially in Europe. This is a stepping stone. It will take strategy to target Europe to keep it going. I can't wait to see concrete first week numbers all around.

Re: Feature: Bringing The Sega Classic Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap To A New Legion Of Fans
I never have heard of this game until seeing it here. I love how it has the old school vibe with a modern art style. If this game is reasonably priced, I intend on giving it a try. I'm sure it won't be a physical release but I would dgital purchase if I had to.
Re: You Can Now Download The Splatoon 2 Global Testfire On Your Switch, But There's A Catch
Re: Super Bomberman R's Japanese Sales Are The Best The Series Has Seen Since 1998
I've never played bomberman, but it looks like fun on Mp. Not sure there is enough there in single player for me . Still good to see that the fans got what they wanted
Re: UK Retailers Hail Fantastic Nintendo Switch Launch, But Stock Is Tight
Hopefully they get stock in before April, or else this demand will cool. Having units to sell alongside Mariokart will only help. I wish they had come out with more color options, I got the neon more because I didn't want gray, by green and gold(zelda) or white and blue(glacial tones) would have both been preferable for me.
Of course they will release color bundles next year, so I guess I'll just have to buy more joy cons then.
Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Switch Has Started Well - Now the Real Challenge Begins
@garthvader
Re: Review: New Frontier Days: Founding Pioneers (Switch eShop)
Interesting review. I'm a Civs fan, I have even purchased a Civs for my mobile that I played in class sometimes. I really would love a Civs type game for the Switch eventually. This sounds closer to a FarmVille based on what I read.
Re: Feature: Our Team Reflects on a Week With Nintendo Switch
I love the Switch. It is in the running for my favorite console, though. the fact my PS4 has so many great exclusives means it will be tough to knock off. Just being able to take a game like Zelda with me when I'm forced to spend time at my girlfriends family's house(yes I'm a jerk, I've been told 😋) Is a game changer.
As I have said before I have dodged 95% of the issues everyone else has mentioned. The wifi connectivity is the bane of my existence though. All said, there is room for improvement, but what launch console doesn't? I am positive that the Switch will build on what has been a solid foundation .
Re: Poll: One Week On - How Do You Feel About the Nintendo Switch?
@E_Blackadder
lol I consider myself a decent gamer, and I bet I died more in the first day of BOTW than I did in all of 2016. Mostly from exploring and seeing what I could do, but still. How can being so frail be so much fun?
Re: Poll: One Week On - How Do You Feel About the Nintendo Switch?
Re: Reggie Fils-Aime Says Nintendo is 'Fact-Finding' on Joy-Con Connection and Screen Scratching Issues
I also have not had an issue. That doesn't take away from those that have. As long as Big N takes care of the problem then it's all good.
Re: "Wouldn't That Be Wonderful?" - Reggie Fils-Aime on Cloud Services for Nintendo Switch
Re: Video: If You Want to Beat The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild in One Hour, This is How
I didn't watch the video, but why would you want to rush through his game?
Re: Nintendo Announces My Nintendo Discounts, Charitable Work and Facebook Features for MAR10 Day
The charity gowns are awesome.
Re: Guide: The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Clothing And Armour List
Those are the moment that make me love this game.
Re: Don't Buy Another Switch Dock Just Yet
Yes that sucks but I had no intention on getting more stuff at the moment. I've been lucky that my stuff doesn't have issues, I'm waiting on kinks to get ironed out before I buy any other accessories.
Re: Nintendo Switch Demand Prompts GameStop to Offer Ludicrous Bundle for Delivery by 16th April
Re: Nintendo Switch Demand Prompts GameStop to Offer Ludicrous Bundle for Delivery by 16th April
@TreasureFan
While you're right, a 20 for my soul is GameStop getting the short end...
Re: Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap Will Hit The Nintendo Switch On 18th April
I Vaguely remember the name wonder boy(never had a sets console, but a friend did). Of course it took me by surprise that this looks like fun. I wish wish wish it would get a physical copy. I hate digital downloads. With all the digital games coming to he Switch I think I'll end up breaking down and getting a couple.
Re: Video: 13 Things You Can Do in Zelda: Breath of the Wild that You Might Not Know About
#14 make you lose touch with your friends and loved ones. Because who needs those distractions when Zelda and Hyrule need you?
Re: You Can Now Use Your Switch Joy-Cons On Your NES Classic Mini
Unless the joy cons make the nes mini appear on shelves, then I'm not excited.
Re: Reggie Fils-Aime Says Services Like Netflix and Hulu "Will Come In Time" To Nintendo Switch
Re: Feature: We Grade the Various Nintendo Switch Launch Complaints from the Web
@8itmap_k1d
Re: Feature: We Grade the Various Nintendo Switch Launch Complaints from the Web
@rotorooter
Re: Axiom Verge Team Still Awaiting Approval for Nintendo Switch Release
Not being familiar with Nintendo, is there a reason they would want to delay this game coming out? You have a decent game who's developers seem to want to release on your system. What could be the problem?
Re: Nintendo Switch Was the Company's Biggest Selling European Hardware Launch, Ever
This is better news than I expected. I had high hopes for America, less so for Japan, and no real thoughts of success initially in Europe. This is a stepping stone. It will take strategy to target Europe to keep it going. I can't wait to see concrete first week numbers all around.
