Following its launch last week, Nintendo has detailed the sort of post-launch content we can expect for Fire Emblem Heroes.
Speaking with IGN, game director Kouhei Maeda said the following: "We plan to add new stories continually after release, at a pace of about two a month or one every two weeks." As well as that, further support includes new characters, skills and new game modes that differ from the current offering.
The promise of more content down the line for Fire Emblem Heroes signifies the eagerness of Nintendo and partners to ramp up support for its mobile apps. The company's previous mobile title, Super Mario Run, was slow to receive support on that scale - by mobile standards - following its release last December, but events are popping up in-game and a recent update added an 'Easy Mode'.
This gives us hope that Nintendo's future mobile games, such as the untitled Animal Crossing game, will see interesting - and regular - updates and additions after launch.

Good, I've already seen all there is to see in FE: Heroes and I liked what I saw. I want more.
Hoping for some Gaiden characters so we can learn about some them before the next 3DS game comes out. And new levels that don't require a ton of stamina....already wondering where to get orbs after the story is beat...getting close to beating it on Normal and about half done with Hard.
I've already seen everything in the game and was hardly impressed. And given how quickly the stamina requirements ramped up I doubt I'll keep the app for long.
I'm waiting for the community to rip the art assets, though. I'd like some of the images to use as avatars or backgrounds on my phone.
I really hope that either the Tellius or Magvel characters are added next.
I hope they do crossover DLC such as:
Fire Emblem Heroes X Zelda, Kid Icarus, Xenoblade, etc.
@Browny they give you a ton of stamina potion in the mission completion menu. I got nearly 20. And the stamina replenishes fairly fast.
@Firelork I want Link. Lol
Also does anybody know why Lara Bailey's namis just a blank line under Lucina where voice actors go? I'm just curious. Lol
There are lots of characters left to include so I hope the updates come steadily.
That said I'm enjoying the game a lot!
2 weeks a month sounds great. There is nothing that makes me uninstall a game faster than no developer support. FE Heroes is a solid and simple foundation and more updates will only make it better.
@NIN10DOXD Something to do with the voice actor's strike.
PLEASE GOD JUST LET ME SUMMON ROBIN ALREADY!!!!
That's the only thing I will ask you as of now!
PLZ!!!!!!!
Magvel and Valencia characters should be a priority, but I'd really like to see Micaiah from Radiant Dawn show up, eventually. Also, Erk, Legault, Leila, Kent, Sain, Dorcas and Ninian/Nils from "Blazing Blade/Sword of Flame" would be awesome.
Yea 2 a month sounds pretty good compared to most apps. It will be interesting to see what other characters are added, and if crossovers will happen.
@NIN10DOXD
Potions aren't limitless. I used all mine up to finish the campaign in a single sitting. But it's not like I want to keep playing, it got boring half way through the campaign.
Now I'm watching people on my Twitter feed dump cash into the game just to get their favorites on their teams. It's rather sad to see, but to each their own.
I'm glad I like the game, if only to have something to buy with my otherwise worthless platinum points.
@Browny You just burned through a game meant to be played over several sessions, no wonder you're burned out.
@Kalmaro
I'm not burned out. Burning out would require more than 2 hours of gaming content, which Heroes lacked. It just wasn't particularly fun.
I wonder if we'll ever find out who the masked man is?
And will the main characters ever find that missing friend of theirs?
And is the answer to both my questions possibly related?
@Mega_Yarn_Poochy makes sense.
@Browny I felt the story was lame but, it's a mobile game and arleast it was more coherent than Conquest (great game with nice gameplay of course). I agree that the people are becoming too addicted to spending money on it which I personally don't think is necessary.
I wonder if there are going to be diffrent versions of each character. For example we have, Camilla: Bewitching Beauty. So I wonder if we will get another version of her like, Camilla: Traitorous terror, well you know what I mean. Similar to Dragonballz Dokkan battle.
As far as cross over characters I think we can expect characters from Legend Of Zelda, or Kid Icarus(Mainly due to the artstyle of it though)
@Browny You're kinda supposed to pace yourself on these games. I don't think anyone was expecting anything more than an fire emblem:Lite.
Nevermind that they are still adding content. If you want to rush through it you aren't really doing anything r wrong, but it's kinda like scarfing down a meal instead of savoring it. Part of the fun of gacha games is collecting everything and beating all the difficulties. If that's not your thing you probably aren't going to enjoy this game much.
Eh, the gold standard of mobile/gatcha is perpetual weekly content drops, not biweekly. Gotta keep you on the habit; can't have you stop playing for a few days and remembering what life is supposed to be like.
Speaking as someone deeply addicted right now to a different gatcha, I'm not even joking. These things aren't games. They're monetization farms, and you're just a cow with suction tubes hooked to your... wallet.
I love Nintendo, but if you're not hooked to this "game" yet, get out while you still can, and if you haven't tried it (as I thankfully have had the sense not to), don't start.
More is always good
Gud game, glad they're bringing in more regular content. I see no point in spending any money on a 'casual game' if you want a bit more of a FE challenge I thoroughly recommend getting the games on the 3DS as they're much more in depth and more rewarding.
@Nin_Myski I'd give you my 3 star Robin If I could
Well even though I obviously am still lacking bunch of characters I'd really like (Jeigan, Tiki, Gunter), I think I'm going to start saving orbs for the future. I already have enough characters that I can make a team of 4 consisting of only characters I like.
Nice hopefully they're free updates.
How many characters are in the game so far? I know the series proper has 500 or so, but from what I've seen so far, it's seemingly just the 3DS games, Achanea, and the GBA games. So do they still have hundreds of characters to add?
@Salnax There's about a hundred playable characters as of now.
@Kalmaro
The meal analogy is good, except Heroes was more of a bag of chips than a full meal. While it might seem like I rushed through it, all I did was play for a couple hours, which for my day off was par for the course. There simply wasn't much meat here.
And I didn't expect there to be, of course. I'm not knocking the game for length but for quality of content, and I really felt the restrictive screen size maps and limit of 4 units was to the detriment of the experience. The goal was to ease newcomers into FE, but at times it felt more condescending than that.
That's nothing compared to the disgusting gacha practice on display here. But it is what makes cash for mobile games so I'm not surprised it's how they went about it. On the plus side it helps expand the west on the franchise, especially for the Japan only games. Just hard to ignore the scummy element.
I'm personally loving Fire Emblem Heroes, especially since my Xbox One is in use by my daughter most of the day so I am limited in what consoles I can use. This is just the ticket!
"Great news everyone" - futurama
Enjoying this game so much and desperately waiting for more.
I hope they'll add friend or local duels!
And price reduction for orbs would be very welcome
great i all for it, the more chances at getting the heroes i want (Hana) im all for
But they don't fix it for those who still can't play...
@Browny Fair enough, my biggest hope is that they lesson the IAP's for the game.
@Browny I wish there were more gacha games to refer to you just as an example of how the bad the depths of gacha and in-game currency to cash micro-transaction can get but FE Heroes is relatively tame compared to them even the big FFBE. I am sure someone will bring up those idol gacha titles at one point or another but FE Heroes is off to a fantastic start considering this mobile app game will probably be their flagship product in the mobile foray.
Let's give it a month and see what happens down the road, I am anticipating some gameplay option with friends, new game modes, definitely new allies, acquirable skills, and more. The map is catered to the mobile audience and I feel it works fine, plus there are new maps on the horizon most definitely. Nintendo won't let such an iconic title like Fire Emblem be riddled with ONLY a short story or a handful of characters.
