Re: Nintendo Expands Switch Online's SNES Library With Four More Titles

RudyC3

@HammerGalladeBro I believe he did play it on GameCenter CX actually, way back in the day.

Big Run is a game one of my friends had as an import back in the day, I have very fond memories of it for what it was at the time. The local travelling funfair had the sitdown arcade machine of it too, I'll never forget it.

Re: Review: Bakeru (Switch) - Good-Feel's Carefree Platformer For Goemon Lovers Makes It To The West

RudyC3

@the_beaver The demo they recently put up shows those framerate drops are still there, just as much as before.

Having played through the entire game though, I can say they really don't get in the way of the enjoyment. It stays at or close to 60 most of the time and really dips down to the 40s (i'm eyeballing it, not an accurate measure) when things get busier on screen.

Re: Talking Point: Would $499 Be Too Much For 'Switch 2'?

RudyC3

Depends on the specs. The extrapolated specs of the rumoured Tegra chip do not make me want to spend 500 on it though. If it's anything Ampere based as rumoured with low core count and downclocked further for battery life, then it won't be worth 500.

If it's anything fancier, like with a decent vapour chamber cooling system (these have been in smartphones long enough and deserve to be in portable consoles) and beefy battery to let the chip stretch its legs in portable mode and anything UFS 3.1 or above for internal storage (to ensure competent loading times), then yeah, that could be worth 500. But if they skimp on anything like Nintendo has done the past generations of consoles (like using eMMC for storage in the Switch) then 400 sounds more reasonable.

Re: Indie Sensation 'Stray' Meows Up Switch Release Date

RudyC3

Price has gone down on Steam over time. Seeing how rough it looks here, I think I'll get it on PC instead, cause if I did get it on Switch, it would be physical, and I'm not paying full price if the game looks so compromised. I don't really need it to be portable in this case.

Re: Nintendo Life's Switch Summer Survey 2024

RudyC3

Why can't I pick F-Zero for game series I want to see on Switch which is not on there yet ? Don't tell me it's because of Switch Online apps, Star Fox is on there and I can pick it anyway...

Also which franchise did you first play on Switch? Well... I picked Splatoon because the second game was the first I bought but then I remembered I had actually tried the Wii U demo of the first game before that so i guess the Switch didn't really make me try any new Nintendo game series... actually no that's a lie, I tried the demo of ARMS on Switch, that's the only NEW Nintendo franchise i can think of on Switch that I did try but... I don't think that was in the list of what you could pick ???

Re: Nintendo Of Europe Completes Plan To Merge Subsidiaries

RudyC3

@Vyacheslav333 Ok fair enough, I never buy digitally and thought you meant it never released in Europe at all. But you can easily create a US account and get it on the American eShop instead, there are no such restrictions. Why insist on getting something digital from one specific storefront? And then like I said the physical version exists (two different versions even).

I admit that it's still annoying. Just because it's banned in Germany shouldn't mean that the rest of Europe shouldn't be allowed to play it, I agree on that at least (even if the ban itself is a German decision, not Nintendo's).

Re: Nintendo Of Europe Completes Plan To Merge Subsidiaries

RudyC3

@Vyacheslav333 What are you taking about? I own Dying Light Platinum Edition physically, a PAL release no less. Maybe it was not released in Germany indeed, but the rest of Europe did get it.

EDIT: The version I personally own is the even more complete Definitive Edition even, although the cartridge label still says Platinum.

Re: Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP Cheerleader Physical Edition Pre-Orders Now Live

RudyC3

@fabiop I see you are from the UK. I don't know how it works for you in your country but in the EU, you pay no import fees for any order/invoice with a value inferior to €150. and Play-Asia offers free shipping if you spend usually over €115 or thereabouts.

So if you target a total value for your order that neatly falls in between those two, you get free shipping, and since Play-Asia is a registered IOSS seller, no customs fees, you simply pay the VAT applicable in your country directly to them.

I've been ordering from them in that way for a while now, saves quite a bit of money.

EDIT: And i have this Play-Asia release preordered as a matter of fact

Re: Capcom Currently Has No Plans To End Physical Game Support

RudyC3

@Yosher @JohnnyMind I have yet to see a single picture of the game's cover art with a PEGI rating on it. and everywhere I've looked online, it's listed either with none (asia release), a ESRB rating (North America) or a CERO rating (Japan), so all of those preorders were for imports.

I preordered through Play Asia, along with a few others so I get free shipping, so i'll still get it, but to see Capcom claiming proudly they'll continue suporting physical when Europe is getting so few (No Ghost Trick either for example, had to import that as well) just makes me think they're taking us for fools.

The Monster Hunter games are an outlier, we've been getting these in Europe pretty consistently.

Re: Capcom Currently Has No Plans To End Physical Game Support

RudyC3

I'll believe it when they actually release stuff physically here. Europe is getting practically NOTHING from them on Switch. I had to import all of the Ace Attorney games and pay through the nose for the privilege, Investigations included since that's also not coming to Europe.

Re: Beyond Good & Evil: 20th Anniversary Edition Finally Lands On Switch Next Week

RudyC3

@Clammy because they snatch the rights to release great games physically only in very small quantities and make you pay through the nose for the privilege, only you have to pay a year in advance and maybe someday your copy will arrive. Scummy way of doing business if you ask me...

Oh yeah and they only ship from America of course so if you're in Europe well good luck with that.

Re: Konami Promises To Continue Improving Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1

RudyC3

By all means the OG Switch has proven time and time again that it could surpass the performance levels of the PS360 era of consoles (not by a large margin, but it can do it), and these games (MGS2&3 HD) ran at 60FPS on those consoles at the same visual settings (which is to say they run natively at 720p in their latest release, just as they did back on PS360)

Just get Bluepoint to come back and optimise these games if that's what it takes to get it right.

Re: Poll: What Do You Think Of The Demo For Another Code: Recollection?

RudyC3

Missed opportunity to not have touch screen functionality in handheld mode for menu selections when this was a big element of the original Nintendo DS game.

I get that the game must be perfectly playable on TV, which it is, but having this little extra in handheld mode, which is where the first game originated anyway, would not have been a bad thing.

Re: Visions Of Mana Announced By Square Enix, But Not For Switch

RudyC3

If it's to come out on the new Switch sometime in 2024, but not the OG generation, I wouldn't be surprised that they wouldn't just announce it now.

that would probably be kept under wraps until the actual announcement of the new system (otherwise that would be like confirming the new Switch is coming in 2024, which we kinda know already anyway, but Nintendo wouldn't want anyone spilling the beans before they do)

Re: Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition Officially Announced

RudyC3

My one regret with the original was that it forced the game in this weird letterboxed widescreen format inside a 4:3 image, rendering it effectively only 640x360 (the Gamecube version I played did anyway, must have been the same on PS2 and not sure about OG Xbox). That doesn't play well on modern displays :/. The PS360 HD version was nice though but that was only digital afaik.

Gimme this anniversary version on a Switch cartridge dagnamit!

Re: Capcom Has A "Major" Unannounced Title Scheduled To Arrive Before March 2024

RudyC3

If it's anything modern day Capcom would consider "major", it's got to be something they know will sell millions. So Resident Evil, Monster Hunter or Street Fighter. Any of their other franchises would not be considered major by their modern standards.

We got RE4 not that long ago, so it wouldn't be another RE game, and SF6 released not that long ago either. With the MH anniversary coming... yeah it will be a MH game, guaranteed.

EDIT: Also bear in mind the article says nothing about the Switch, so don't get your hopes up for that.
