I didn't know I'd miss the Mii characters representing players, and the flags on the player list until this game came out. It made it feel more personal and like they're actually people.
Please never list "AI image enhancement" as a pro . IMO it's always better to turn all the extra processing off to save input latency and get the image that the developer intended.
And Roku is getting pretty invasive with their ads, I enjoyed a budget TCL Roku for a while, but won't ever support them again, and regret updating it.
In fact, I will probably just go monitor for my next TV since even LG is annoying with constant updates and the ads on my C2's home screen.
Glad the mouse support is seemingly confirmed. Keyboards already work (at least on OG Switch), now just need a DOS emulator on NSO so we can get Mario Teaches Typing! That's how I learned to type as a lad.
As far as Mario Kart, the trailer looked OK, but the desert/sand tracks were always the most bland looking, to me. Still hoping for an adventure mode like DKR.
I read elsewhere that the update makes it so the game, rather than dipping erratically when it goes below 60, will instead lock to 30fps until it's able to achieve 60 again. This is a solution, but I'd really prefer Nintendo start including options in their games. I'd just cap it to 30 full-time if I could.
Going to wait for the inevitable cartridge revision now before I buy.
I still don't get how a game with 'input delays' and 'stuttering' can be called "not bad". To me, that's the definition of bad. Inputs and feel are the most important part of a game, in my opinion.
As others have said, I miss the days when a game was tailored to the console it released on. I get it, with games taking so much more time and manpower to develop, but maybe don't smear the reputation of your studio by putting out stuff that makes you look like amateurs.
May check this out on PC if it doesn't have denuvo though. Looks like a great game.
This is the best day of my life. I've been hoping for an online coop update for the recent ports (even though I play online pc via other ports all the time), since it would bring in some fresh players, at least for a time. Only thing I dislike so far is no item respawn in coop. Makes some maps a slog when many players are there.
Best part? I wasn't nagged to log in at all, even when downloading extras or playing online. Where do I mail a $100 bill?
when I saw this trailer, i was thinking "wasn't that game out years ago?". Could have sworn i played it on steam. But then i realized that was Fantasy Strike
Personally, I avoided the purchase because of Denuvo in PC version. I'll grab the switch physical when it's $30 or less. Already down to $40 at walmart.
Also, mania is better. I'd buy Mania 2 at full price, even if it was $60. Pixels for life!
And yea, how'd they expect to compete against Mario Wonder?
Hope the face buttons are better than the ultimate that i payed $70 for. They feel very 'XBox', but worse since they have friction if you hit them anywhere but dead center, and are hard to mash fast because of the slow response. Compare to the Pro 2, which has SNES style buttons, which you can tap and mash at high speed.
This is tempting as a replacement for the stock pro controller. I do love everything about 8bitdo except their recent face buttons.
Yea, glad to see 8bitdo Pro 2 in the poll. It's perfect. I have the gameboy themed one. Nice low input lag (better that a lot of 3rd party controllers), perfect D-Pad, and perfect face buttons.
I do have the 8bitdo ultimate bluetooth, but find the face buttons awful. The buttons seem to get hung up on the casing if you try to press one while holding another one, and they have that inferior XBox face button size and feel. DPad is OK though.
I'm a convert. I love the little guys. I genuinely laugh maybe once every few months or less, so I felt a lot of joy when one made me do it, and then had a grin for the next few minutes.
Looks amazing, I played the demo at Target and I liked the design and gameplay, and sound. What I hated was the huge amount of input latency, and I hope that's just the display being set up wrong, or just low quality. If it's as responsive as other Mario games, it stands a chance of being an all-time classic.
@SwitchForce I was able to place an order just now at Noon EST, October 5. It kept saying I had to delete the items because i don't have an online account (I do), but let me check out anyway despite the error.
You guys seriously gave a 9/10 to a game that crashes when trying to use one of it's major modes? This is what's wrong with the industry. Either wait til it's fixed to review it, or slam it for being broken.
That being said, I love Wargroove so I sure hope a fully functional version comes out on cart to go alongside my copy of the first!
@PinderSchloss I sometimes choose to play on switch instead of Steam to avoid partially complete achievement lists. At least if performance is comparable. I did this with Binding of Isaac because I realized I'd never get all the achievements on Steam. It's less OCD and more that I'll put a game down for a year or two, then want to start completely fresh. So I used to use SAM to delete my Steam achievements and start over.
I appreciate that there is a system where the focus is on the game itself and not tasks that tempt me to complete, but I'm not doing just for the fun of it.
I realize I'm in the minority though and if the masses want trophies / achievements on Nintendo, I'll live!
@Zuljaras
RE: Ahh, can you imagine the Microsoft DRM and anti-consumer practices reaching Nintendo's shore?
I love me some Nintendo, but their DRM seems worse. My online accounts from previous systems don't let me carry games forward. That's digital rights management for sure. And I recently wanted to refund the terrible Horizon Chase 2, and found that Nintendo doesn't allow refunds.
Not to mention the ancient online system with no voice chat or decent connections. And denying the problem with the controller drift and not even changing the design to fix it, while still charging $80 for them.
Nintendo is my favorite 1st party developer, and switch is my favorite console since the SNES, but their practices are anything but consumer friendly, at least compared to the other guys.
I love how this turned out. I also really like the online implementation. I can see others and help them out, without them messing up my platforming! And I'll take easy mode characters over those helper blocks that appeared in NSMB after you died a few times.
"You have to do a factory reset in order to play a physical game in 1.0 (if it was previously patched and played on a higher one). There's no other way, welcome to Nintendo world. It's fun in here!"
Didn't know that, thanks.
I previously thought it was tied to the save file. For example, I played an updated Azure striker Gunvolt, then couldn't load the earlier version from cartridge without update. Though I thought once i removed my save i was able to load the cart again. It may have been after I switched to OLED though. (So new system comparable to a factory reset)
This game is awesome. Been playing it on Steam since i can use Reshade to blend those pixels with a CRT filter. Bought it on switch to play with the girlfriend though. Now she loves it despite hating pixelated games.
I do hope someday consoles have CRT filters built-in, especially since they all have retro games available.
Once I get bored, I'll play it on game pass for the achievements.
Diablo III is a fantastic port, and local coop is awesome. The game plays great on a controller, much to my PC-loving surprise.
The real reason I'm commenting is to recommend (with all the force of the universe) Quake II. It's a shockingly well done package, and shows a great respect for the game and it's fans. I have it on Steam, switch digital, and await the physical when LR decides to ship it.
It's also the best controls I've ever felt in an FPS, when it comes to the analog stick. I've hated aiming with the right stick since that became a thing, but I can actually do it in this one. (I preferred walking with c-buttons and aiming with left stick in 007 for example).
Rockstar should be embarrassed by the effort they put into their port of RDR, comparably. Especially considering Quake II is ten bucks. That being said, I am happy to have it on Switch. I'll just wait for a sale.

At least it'd look clean, and would even fit the style, IMO. Would run smoother too.

Re: Internal Xbox Email Details Desire To Acquire Nintendo
@Zuljaras Pretty much all of the major corporations suck in their own ways I guess.
I do remember MS trying to shaft customers during the One era, and the whole Sony meme "This is how you share your game".
Thankfully I skipped the XBox One, but did get a series S eventually and was happy to see at least most of my games from 360 were there.
