I guess dumping these out to be ignored while everyone else is playing Zelda is one way for Nintendo to meet their obligation for extra content. They'll be fun to waste ten minutes on just to see the cosmetic changes at least.
Bayonetta I can almost forgive, since it's pretty much perfect at being what it is. But GTA V and Skyward Sword are both bloated and unenjoyable in numerous places. Different strokes for different folks I guess.
All the hype made me go mad and splurge on the Nintendo Vouchers offer so I could pick up both Tears of The Kingdom and Smash Ultimate (FINALLY). All of which means I'll mostly be playing Smash....for Wii U, this weekend. Still got loads to do there even though I did play a cheeky match of Ultimate before rolling back the clock. It looks suitably wonderful <3<3<3
Square is getting worryingly close to being the new Konami, these days. Honestly wouldn't surprise me if we hear an announcement saying they've scrapped finishing the FFVII remake off at this rate.
@Ristar24 One of the biggest surprises of revisiting Super Mario Land 2 is how much I found I didn't especially care for it all these years late given just how easy the game is. The original Mario Land on the other hand is arguably closer in spirit to the original NES Marios and something I'd love to play again on the big screen.
@TruthisRare This argument in particular always bugs me. Everyone has a right to not give their property to people if they don't wish to. You don't have the right to take it just because you think it should be available to you, no matter your views on Nintendo's policies.
Spent six hours or so of Saturday ignoring the coronation in favour of playing Paper Mario:The Thousand Year Door for the first time. Truly happy and glorious.
I played way more of Man of Medan than was healthy for a single person on the PS4 and 5. The Dark Pictures Anthology is definitely a marmite series, but if you buy into its hokey Choose-Your-Own-Adventure charms they're quality slices of entertainment.
@Ainze I remember having some really fun times with the game, and the problems it had are in fairness pretty much the same as most online TCGs. It also had a super generous reward track system that meant building a good collection was pretty easy from what I recall. A shame the replacement seems to be a big step backward by all accounts.
Enjoyed this for a fair while, but eventually it just descended into whoever got to play the most overpowered EX cards first. Don't know if that's just indicative of the state of the card game in general but it always felt wildly imbalanced.
@TheBigK Exactly this. Freeloaders gonna freeload, regardless of their reasons for doing it. It's not going to impact the box office or subsequent home release sales one bit I'd wager. If anything it's just more social media traction for the film.
Replaying the original Paper Mario ahead of finally, FINALLY, getting around to playing TTYD. Really looking forward to it, though it's got a lot to live up to since this has just reminded me how special the original game in the series is.
Jurassic Park on the Gameboy was one of the first video games I ever owned, but even with that heady hit of nostalgia there's not a lot here to get excited about. They were all, frankly, a bit rubbish-except that one on the Genesis where you could jump on people as a Raptor and go KYEEEEEEEEEEEEEARRRRGGGGGGGHHH. That one were alright.
Fun game, if a little bit creaky these days. Stellar atmosphere and voice work elevates it above some of the other forgettable FPSes of the era, and definitely worth checking out the trial if you've the space for it.
IV, being a child of the SNES era. And despite rating VI as the best entry of the series I'm one of those awful people who can't stand VII but adores XIII. Sorry (not sorry.)
Although technically it was Final Fantasy Adventure on the GB. Which still slaps to this day.
This is like peering back down an alternative timeline for your childhood and seeing what you could have been spending your Saturday mornings playing, and I'm all here for it.
I'm not sure Illumination have ever managed a follow up film that didn't massively underwhelm. One and done seems best for them. Though a silent Pikmin movie a la the first half of Wall-E would be sweet.
Honestly, I'm sad Battle Chip Challenge didn't make the cut for the Battle Network Collection. It would have been a nice little sideshow to the main games, and it really wasn't as terrible as some of the other titles on this list. Maybe they'll offer it as future DLC, but that seems like a pipe dream really.
It seems like it's just a well made, kid-friendly film in an era where cinema seems primarily interested in catering to teen audiences and up. Glad it's done well :3
The webseries he refers to in the quote is 'There Will Be Brawl', a fan project that adapted Super Smash Bros Brawl into an online live action series about a decade ago. It was incredibly well done and well worth a watch for anyone who's a fan of his work. Stoked he's now actually able to play the same character legitimately.
It's not the bizarre movepools that will kill you using rentals in the game, it's the level advantage the CPU frequently has since the Cup rules are all over the shop. Good luck to anyone taking the challenge, but for those who never played this before back in the day I can only say this: prepare to suffer. Hope they bring Stadium 2 on board at some point, my favourite cup was always the random one from that game.
The proportion of people who actively read or even care about credits is not exactly sizeable, and I'd imagine of those even less are going to be bothered about sticking around to read post-credit credits. Having said that if I was inside the industry maybe I'd have a different view on things. For all I know people could be getting screwed out of work today because they're not being correctly accredited for work they did yesterday. It's a pickle.
There's not a hope in heckins' they'll patch in an option to transfer Pokemon down the road. I'd genuinely be staggered if they added any of the mainline Pokemon games to NSO ever, except possibly for a major anniversary milestone. That said I totally can see them adding one of the Pokemon Pinballs after the TCG game, and I'm fully down for that. In the meantime I guess at least we have Magikarp Splash to make our subscription fee feel worthwhile.
Europe gets it, barely. All of them are pretty subpar to be fair, but the colouring in the EU one just about makes up for the lazy, cluttered, composition.
It's honestly hard to justify the price of these remakes in a world where Wargroove exists. It's a pity because they are, and no doubt will remain as of this release, exceptional SRPGs. I get that Nintendo has their price policies and I generally do agree with them, but in an instance like this their inflexibility is maddening and will in all likelihood kill any chance of further Advance Wars content. Boo.
Oh God. The Pika Cup is going to absolutely brutalize people. Pretty sure it's downright unwinnable with rentals. Won't stop me from bashing my skull repeatedly against the challenge for the next ten or so months, mind.
@abe_hikura I think we're all forgetting the riveting courtroom drama of Mario Sunshine. Trust me, Twelve Angry Marioes would have swept the board at Cannes.
If this genuinely turns out to be the highest grossing movie of the year then I guess cinema really is officially dead. That'd be an interesting accolade for the big N to hold.
I guess if you could make more money than actual voice artists without any discernable knack for the business you'd probably choose to do that, too. Go team.
Hard to believe the Badge Arcade didn't get a next-gen upgrade. I can only assume with all the controversy surrounding 'gambling' in gaming Nintendo might have thought twice about continuing to monetize the game. Still, nice as it is the current Switch icon system is a pale imitation of Badge Bunny and his shiny trinket horde.
Bought Wargroove after finishing Metroid Fusion. One of the rare occasions I've plumped for the Switch version over the Playstation, since the game just feels Nintendo.
Bayonetta Origins was never going to make waves outside the truly hardcore Bayonetta franchise, ie. the people who gave a fig about the lore and characters and weren't just in it for the 'splosions and sparkles. Presumably everyone on the development team was aware of this going into the project. Don't forget the mainline Bayonetta games took years to reach fruition while this was seemingly whipped up overnight to piggyback off the launch of the third game. I'm sure the numbers are just fine for what it is.
I finally made it to the last challenge in Odyssey (you'll know the one if you've played it), and I think it might just make me weep actual tears of frustration. It's Wario's Castle from Super Mario Land 2 all over again. Still an amazing game though, goodness knows how they'll follow it up.
Bub and Bob may have been dinosaurs once, but the screen directly above that line clearly identifies them as 'dragon children' nowadays. Let's not be misidentifying our cartoon lizards, Nintendo Life.
