Re: Nintendo Unveils Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Switch OLED Bundle, Out This Month

RobynAlecksys

@Dragonite89 There's no reason to bundle a brand new game like this for the holidays when you already know the MK8 bundle will sell out every year, AND you'll still get the additional Wonder sale. Otherwise, you'd just get the bundle, or a regular Switch + Wonder. I'm going to guess you've never purchased a console for a child before? If the bundle comes with the latest and greatest, you stop buying right there. If it doesn't, you look for a deal (MK8 bundle) and get the new game too so the child feels extra special. Both parties win at Christmas.

Re: Random: Sakurai Reckons Both Mario Wonder And Spider-Man 2 Are Masterpieces

RobynAlecksys

@The-Chosen-one I always hate these assumptions 🤣, "a friend of mine", so basically nobody just random forum users complaining most likely. If your friend really did beat it in 13 hours, then he was speedrunning it. I'm at 27 hours with a total completion of 79%, I'm actually playing the game, not rushing to beat everyone else and brag or try to say something bad about the game. You can beat BotW in 30 minutes, hell, you can beat nearly any game in under 10 hours if you know how. Don't take anyone's word when they beat a brand new game that quickly, they likely skipped the majority of the content and are giving you a very poor representation of the game.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (October 28th)

RobynAlecksys

@LikelySatan Careful with LM3, I haven't checked recently but as far as I know they still haven't patched in the correct camera. With no invert Y axis option (which should always be the default and if not, included in every game) the game is near impossible to play. They think gyro controls compensates for that, they don't. I had to buy a ***** 8bitdo controller (all their products suck) just to get the correct camera control, but the controller itself was so bad it still ruined my experience.

If you're one of the few that doesn't play scientifically/biologically correct, you'll enjoy the game. If you're like most gamers, this will make you pizza when you should've french fried and you're gonna have a bad time. NextLevelGames needs to fix their anti-consumer title.

Getting the platinum for Spider-Man 2 tonight, finishing Mario Wonder with my son tomorrow (maybe).

Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting Super Mario Bros. Wonder?

RobynAlecksys

@NinjaNicky Unless you found a rare prelaunch offer, they're usually the same at launch with digital always ending up cheaper down the line. As for resell value... I'm not buying games to sell them. If you are you should find a different hobby. Lending to a friend? It's my game, they can buy their own copy, but for those who break the ToU, digital owners can gameshare and between the two of them they're only paying half the cost of the game upfront making it again, cheaper than what you just paid.

No matter how you slice it, digital is better, cheaper, more convenient, and absolutely no different in ownership than a physical copy.

Re: Xbox Boss Wants Nintendo Fans To Feel "100% Part Of The Call Of Duty Nation"

RobynAlecksys

@HeadPirate You're incredibly incorrect. Support for Wii U was incredibly high before launch, everyone wanted one... Until Nintendo realized what EA was going to do with their online system and cancelled that contract. When that happened, the industry followed EA because when you see the king (at the time) walk away, from a business perspective you walk away too. This was when ports started to get cancelled, or rushed if they were too far along. If you actually look at the ports where effort was applied, they were generally on par if not better than their counterparts. You drank the Kool aid like so many others did regarding Wii U, and it's a shame. Wii U was a fantastic system, and gave rise to the Switch, but because of idiots who didn't pay attention in the beginning and watch everything unfold, we have people like you who believe Nintendo sabotaged themselves. No, the unfortunate failure that was Wii U is entirely EAs fault. Do some research and your entire argument will fall apart.

Re: Xbox Boss Wants Nintendo Fans To Feel "100% Part Of The Call Of Duty Nation"

RobynAlecksys

@GrailUK Nothing will remain exclusive to Xbox, he stated this way back in 2017 when he officially took Xbox 3rd party on stage at E3. Don't forget the last Xbox exclusive was released in 2015 too. It amazes me how people don't know these facts.

Phil just wants a monopoly over the industry, that's why he's doing this. It's to grow the Xbox brand to be the number 1 publisher and thereby holding all the cards moving forward to make deals and whoever doesn't sign on the dotted line will miss out. Again, don't forget Sony and Nintendo had to sing a contract to get CoD on their platforms, not because Phil is being pro-consumer, but because he wants a monopoly. Anyone who doesn't believe that is incredibly naive and a danger to gaming.

Re: The Original Switch Reveal Trailer Has Been Removed From Nintendo's YouTube Channel

RobynAlecksys

@ItsOKToBeOK Wii U "debacle". Sorry, let's stop giving idiots an excuse to continue being idiots. If anyone took 10 seconds to look at the box, read the box, Google the system, pay attention at any gaming store, etc, nobody would have been confused. You don't see anyone confused about 2 different Xbox models, or 4 different PS3 models, or the last gen Pro models, and all of those ended up in the same generations with confusing names. Wii U was always advertised as their next gen system, with full Wii backwards compatibility. There was no debacle, it was always very clear from the start.

For most of my life my grandmother called every game a Nintendo, why? Because she didn't care what it really was. If someone took the time to care, they wouldn't have confused anything. If you go back to that time period you'll find a lot of hype around Wii U until Nintendo cancelled their plans with EA to allow them to run their online components, only then did the entire industry turn on Nintendo and fabricate an issue. Nobody since has had an issue understanding what Wii U was because it was never confusing.

Re: Bethesda Veteran Pete Hines Announces Retirement After 24 Years

RobynAlecksys

@Poodlestargenerica Facts. PlayStation sold because cheaper and faster development time, which led to quicker turnaround and cheaper games. PS2 sold based entirely off being the cheapest DVD player on the market! That's it! As for it having the best library, not even close. It's got a great library, definitely near the top, but not the best. PS3 sold using the same tactics with Blu-ray, but just like PS2 gained traction over time with a great Library.

Edit: the GameCube mini discs didn't limit the games, this is a myth that's exaggerated.

Re: Bethesda Veteran Pete Hines Announces Retirement After 24 Years

RobynAlecksys

@johnvboy Sony never had a monopoly, this is a fact. Phil Spencer has gone on record making it clear he took Xbox 3rd party to gain more screens. He's buying big developers to have more popular IPs for what reason? A MONOPOLY! Once Xbox is on PlayStation it'll officially be on EVERY PLATFORM, and he continues to look for developers to buy. Only a fool would believe Phil has done any of this for the gamers.

Re: Bethesda Veteran Pete Hines Announces Retirement After 24 Years

RobynAlecksys

Lmao "incredible launch" 🤣. Starfield is just the next anti-consumer-pass failure, predicted by every intelligent gamer. No, he's doing exactly what every other high profile employee has done shortly after joining Microsoft. If you know, you know. If you argue this fact, you have zero knowledge of the truth. This was to be expected, he doesn't want to be attached to any more failures.

Re: Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 Taps Out Of Prior Release Date As Devs Announce Minor Delay

RobynAlecksys

@SoIDecidedTo You're applying 30 year old logic to modern games though. None of your discs or carts will be working in 30 years the way they are today, I promise you. Backwards compatibility has long been proven to be a fraction of the gaming community, so you still playing your SNES titles, whether through legacy hardware or emulators, is still irrelevant. This was further proven by Xbox, and the reason why they stopped game preservation (on top of not being able to for their meager 20yr library compared to other gaming giants) because they found it was like, 5% of all Xbox users who actually played BC games.

Digital storefronts will disappear, or be migrated, or what have you, but your purchases remain forever. Read that again.... YPUR PURCHASES REMAIN FOREVER. I can still turn on my Wii U or 3DS and play my digital games, why? Because my purchases will always be there. And guess what? If they're not? I'll likely never know. Why? Because most gamers don't care!

You know the last time I turned on my Wii U? A few days before Switch came out. My 3DS? When Samus Returns came out. My Xbox 1? Halfway through last gen. My PS4 games? Not since I got a PS5. I'm playing games today, I already played those games yesterday. Even my favorites will go untouched for years before I break them out again, and by that time a remaster on new hardware will likely be out. Super Mario RPG for instance. Haven't played it since the N64 came out, playing it this November on Switch.

Re: The Mario Movie Had No Influence On Wonder's New Character Designs, Says Developers

RobynAlecksys

@Frogspree Because most "gamers" don't have a clue about the hobby they claim to love. They just play a game here and there, spread misinformation on Instagram comment threads, and get all their friends to believe them. Are you old enough to remember school playground game discussions? 90% of those conversations was based on "idk how but I pulled this off!" Or, "I got to an unreleased stage by doing this!". That's most gamers, and by today's standards, most gaming journalists.

Today's equivalent would be "DLC is just cut content from the main game". No, it's planned after the main game has started development, and as members of the main team finish their role, they transition to the DLC team to start post game support. It's not all developed at once and then some CEO comes in and says holds arms wide open "this is what you should cut for future release". There have been only a handful of games where it's been proven to have happened (Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City is one such example) but anytime you hear someone shouting Cut Content!, it's usually just a casual hobbyist who knows nothing having a playground discussion. Ignore and don't feed.

Re: The First Review For Sonic Superstars Is Now In

RobynAlecksys

I'm hoping it's good but if anything, it'll be like every other Sonic game and step on it's own feet by trying to do speed instead of making a good game. Slow him down, use his speed in attacking and platforming, and craft a better game than the original Genesis trilogy (which is bad too).

I'll get this when it's $10, two exclusives releasing this month take priority over any 3rd party games.

Re: Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Tops Another 'Greatest Games' List

RobynAlecksys

At least the better of the 2 open world titles is at the top, but TotK still shouldn't be on there. Overall though a great list of games! Not a single GTA or CoD in sight, and, the ONLY good Halo title! Well, at least in the top 10. I'd hate to see The Witcher 3 or Skyrim on the list if I actually look because then all faith will be lost.

Re: Soapbox: TOTK's Ganondorf Is Great, But Zelda Needs To Do More With Its Villain

RobynAlecksys

@Namco TotK is generally weak from start to finish, easily the worst Zelda game in the mainline series. I do agree with the author's points to some extent. OoT had plenty of Ganondorf to go 'round, and WW's representation was just phenomenal. TP was a welcome change because you weren't expecting him for most of the game, and SS did wonders with Ghirahim and Demise. Even BotW gave him a great presentation even if the final battle was weak. When they revealed TotK Ganon, I was excited because it looked like they were finally going to give us another WW type of villain if not better. Instead, we got a weak game in every aspect.

Honestly, the next Zelda game needs to go back to a more traditional style and utilize a new villain.

Re: Former Switch Player Magazine Maker Announces Premium Publication 'Ninsight'

RobynAlecksys

@Princess_Lilly I'm trying to figure out where you're finding "10 second read sites". Nearly every single article I come across spends 4 - 5 large paragraphs to answer the question of the headline in paragraph 6. It may seem counterintuitive, but I no longer care about long reads. Too many articles give useless and vastly incorrect information before getting to the meat & potatoes.

This website for insurance just had a soapbox piece (which I understand is opinionated) regarding Switch 2 and does it need BC. The article should have opened up with "Yes, it absolutely does, end of discussion", and then skipped down to the authors own bias. Instead, it was an incredibly dreadful read that didn't answer with the obvious and only correct answer: yes.

Re: Soapbox: 'Switch 2' Doesn't Really Need Backwards Compatibility

RobynAlecksys

It absolutely does need BC, if for nothing more than to tow the status quo. Gone are the days where bringing your current library forward is a pipe dream, today it's required. Not only is it better and 9/10 times cheaper to buy digitally, doing so makes it that much easier to carry your entire library into the future. If you're still buying physically then you have your own problems and I don't personally think including old hardware into new systems is worth the effort, but to all of us in the modern age our digital libraries should most definitely be accessible on new hardware.

I'm of two minds though, as I don't ever play old games. There's far too many new ones to play. I personally don't care about BC, it's been proven gamers don't utilize it and the reason why Microsoft stopped aside from the severe issues with preservation (and they've only got a 20 year library they couldn't even successfully preserve), but every company moving forward has embraced preservation and there's not a single reason why Nintendo shouldn't. If anything, if they don't, they will end up losing marketshare and their good reputation they've built with Switch.

Re: Random: Making "Miyamoto Happy" Isn't The Goal Of Development, According To Pikmin 4's Creators

RobynAlecksys

@babel116 No, there hasn't. Anything ever written about Miyamoto within the games industry has been positive or insightful, with very few mentions of any sort of discourse, and those that were have been minor things that were irrelevant. Nobody with any authority, clout, or otherwise intimate knowledge of any projects or interactions with Miyamoto have ever once suggested such rumors. If anything, it's people like you perpetuating false news.

You want to talk about poor leaders, mismanagement, and corrupt individuals? Bobby Kotick, Phil Spencer, Blizzard, Bungie, R*, Ubisoft, Rod Fergusson, but Miyamoto?? You're off your rocker.

Good on the devs focusing on making a great game and not catering to upper management, unlike the above mentioned examples...

Re: Soapbox: My Most-Played Game Of 2023 Isn't On Switch, But It Must Be On The Cards

RobynAlecksys

@Stocksy This website is for gaming, mobile "games" aren't such things no matter how addicted one person might be to them and try to defend them as legitimate games. They simply aren't. And yes, by mobile we gamers mean phones, since the argument can be made that the Switch and other dedicated handheld GAMING devices are in fact, mobile.

Let me state, it's perfectly fine that someone enjoys mobile interactive adverts, I prefer real gaming experiences myself, but advertising it on a gaming website is in poor taste, and honestly, probably against their terms of employment. After all, they're likely to be rewarded for recommendations and if this doesn't look like a paid/sponsored YouTube ad in the middle of your show that you can't skip despite paying for ad-free programming, then I don't know what is. Don't defend fake news.

Re: Japanese Charts: Pikmin 1+2 Join Pikmin 4 As The Top Pikmin

RobynAlecksys

More gamers buy digitally these days, and rightfully so since the myth of ownership has been debunked for nearly 20 years. It's also worth noting digital is cheaper in the long run and quite simply the best option for any gamer. Kind of like how nobody is walking around with cash in their pockets today or worse, writing checks.

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2 Switch Rating Surfaces Online

RobynAlecksys

@sleepinglion it actually isn't though. R* is the worst developer in the industry and I don't think anyone on their team has ever played a video game. Nothing they've made can be considered good under any circumstance, just because casual hobbyists buy it up like Madden or CoD doesn't make it good.

Re: Video: Luigi's Mansion 2 HD Side-By-Side Graphics Comparison (Switch & 3DS)

RobynAlecksys

Graphically it looks good but the most important question to ask is this: will they include the proper way to play with the ability to invert the Y axis? Luigi's Mansion 3 is unplayable even today because of this severe anti-consumer move. No game in the last 20 years aside from it that I can think of didn't include this basic function. How do you leave out the correct way to control the camera?! And no, gyro controls are not a good replacement, neither is buying a terrible 8bitdo controller to fix their mistake.

Re: Review: Mortal Kombat 1 - A Superb Fighter, But Severely Kompromised On Switch

RobynAlecksys

@JayJ Ehh, the problem with that is most reviewers don't have a clue what they're actually doing. I see so many "journalists" on various gaming websites who, for a lack of a better statement, have the same quality as the casual hobbyists in an Instagram comment asking why Spider-Man 2 isn't coming to Xbox.

If you don't know anything about gaming, and consistently prove it, you shouldn't be giving opinions about it at all when you have the ability to influence others. We still have people who think PS5/XSX are next gen FFS, when they've been current gen since launch day.

Re: Review: Mortal Kombat 1 - A Superb Fighter, But Severely Kompromised On Switch

RobynAlecksys

@9-Volt Games should absolutely live and die by how they're released, not how they'll be 2 years later. Case in point: fake gamers allowed Sean Murray to become rich after he blatantly lied and stole to support his anti-consumer title No Man's Sky. Look at it today, fake gamers gave it a second chance and now the controversy that SHOULD have ended development on the game and likely his career, is all but forgotten. Bungie with Destiny and locking players out of they didn't purchase the DLC, by all reasonable measures, D2 should have absolutely failed. Instead, fake gamers rushed to support a mediocre at best developer and get preyed on again.

A negative review needs to stand as it is if it is correct during the time when it's published, and it should not change. If NRS couldn't produce a quality product here, they shouldn't have made it and definitely Shouldn't have charged the same price as they did on much newer hardware.

Re: Super Mario RPG GameStop Pre-Order Revealed (North America)

RobynAlecksys

@NintendoWife The problem there are fake gamers paying the scalpers, and sites like eBay allowing illegal transactions. A rare item that's out of print, hard to come by, etc will command a higher price, that's natural. A brand new released item that is going for 3x more than what is available currently on store shelves is price gouging. Scalpers aren't the problem, it's the fakes who pay that price, eBay, and retailers not giving a damn.
