@FrenchVaniIIuxe exactly this, let's be realistic, this game was highly offensive to the Japanese. It's actually quite a shoddy game besides that, rightly responsible for sinking the studio behind it.
Lets just be clear here, Sony cannot even support their own hone console, the PS5 has less than 10 games available on it that you cannot play on the PS4 or a PC.
Why would i buy anything Sony makes if i can just play most their games on a PC and have a better experience?
Sony are just mad that Nintendo essentially pushed them out of Asia.
@Mocznik I don't think Nintendo are on exactly the same path that Microsoft was on, but I do think Nintendo has taken a very questionable route here, they seem to be overestimating how much people will be willing to put up with their various anti consumer policies.
It will be interesting to see what happens going forward because Nintendo will get a hardcore base of 10-15 million who will swallow ANYTHING Nintendo spew out and they'll be absolutely happy about it.
But this isn't the majority of their consumer base and I believe the initial success they are getting won't last long. People seem to easily forget that the Wii U actually sold very well for it's first 3 months before it fell off a cliff really fast.
@jsty3105 other manufacturers are not bricking your system if you homebrew their systems, that's the point of this, you can buy a PS4 or PS5 and hack the console to homebrew same with Xbox. They lock you out of their ecosystem and online services if you do that but they won't brick your system.
Nintendo are the only ones doing that and they need to be challenged for it, what I do with my system when I buy it is entirely up to me. It's MY product, I can do whatever I want with MY product because I PAID for it.
Good news but I'm in no rush to get one just yet. Not really entirely keen on the idea of paying £60+ on something I won't really own and can easily be taken away. Plenty of physical Switch games I can play, I have a very large back catalogue of games that will keep me occupied for a good couple of years and I still have more I can buy too.
@Kiyata the issue is how do you know what the demand will be? They thought demand for the Wii U would be huge, but it wasn't and the Wii U was their biggest failure.
It's too risky to invest huge sums of money in ensuring extra stock is available, because Nintendo just doesn't know how well the console will do. It's a bad idea to make a decision based on information you simply do not know.
I want to say the Switch 2 will do well but I don't actually know many of my friends who currently own a Switch, with plans to buy a Switch 2. Most people, including myself, are holding off for at least a year, possibly longer.
My Switch 1 is perfectly okay and with the state of the global economy right now, I'd be more inclined to purchase a gaming PC because I can use it for many more games and it'll have better value for money.
Also I'm in no rush to go all digital for my games, I don't trust Nintendo with that kind of responsibility but I do trust Valve, so definitely PC for me before a Switch 2. I'm sure many many others feel the same so Nintendo needs to plan accordingly.
They can't just make tons of consoles hoping that it sells well, so far the wider gaming community isn't really digging the Switch 2, only Nintendo hardcore fans are hyped for this.
@ArcadeRacingCENTRAL totally agree, I have NEVER been able to keep any of my PowerA controllers for more than a year at most. My PDP ones are still going strong nearly 3 years in and even if they break today, for the price I paid and the time I got to use them, would DEFINITELY recommend people buy them.
Yeah looks good I'll give it a go, it was my one of my biggest gripes with the Switch and it's probably why we never got GTA V on there (A game developed for the Xbox 360).
Unfortunately it was Warmer Brothers that started doing this practice, other companies like Nintendo followed suit after, which actually ended up costing WB more money in the long term
To be fair the Witcher 3 upgrade really isn't that significant that it'll warrant a replay if you've already played the original on any hardware. There's a few upgrades here and there and some extra side missions but nothing worth getting excited over if you've already played the OG.
Also I actually don't trust CDPR anymore, it wasn't just that Cyberpunk was broken on release and wasn't in a playable state until mid 2023, over 2 years after it's initial release, it's the fact that CDPR intentionally went out of their way to manipulate the narrative around that so that pre-orders wouldn't get cancelled.
Cyberpunk 2077 was the most anticipated game of the previous decade and what we got was a generic open world shooter, albeit a very good open world shooter after 2.5 years of trying to fix it, it's still just that though, a generic open world shooter.
I am a LOT more interested in what Rebel Wolves studio is doing with Dawnwalker. This looks MUCH better to me.
Every single day the more I hear about Nintendo's new pricing policy, the sadder I get, because it's becoming more and more obvious that Nintendo are walking themselves into another failure here and that is sad to see after the success of the Switch.
Everything that Nintendo are doing gets harder and harder to defend by the day.
I'm not moaning and complaining about price because I know how Inflation works and I know that games take longer to make and cost more resources than ever before, while largely remaining at a fairly static price since 1995.
Technically just based on inflation alone, games are supposed to cost around $100, this doesn't factor in additional time and resources to make the game.
I'm excited for the console also but I cannot buy one on launch, more than likely I'll be waiting a year or so before I jump on the wagon.
In terms of price and everything else, I totally understand.
Consumers are actually mostly inept and have no real idea how business works, they'll complain about the price, while also complaining that Devs work in bad conditions and get paid peanuts or get paid off...
Like these morons don't understand that you can't have both, if you want Devs to be properly compensated, then you need to swallow the price, if you want cheap games then you need to let sweat shops exist and you need to swallow your pride.
Either way you're swallowing something so everyone seriously needs to pipe down 😂.
@Jarl76 eventually the costs will trickle down to PC too for new game releases, it doesn't matter what platform you play games on, within 2-3 years on EVERY platform including PC, you'll be paying $70+ for all your new game releases.
Special sales will still occur, you will be able to get deals and whatever else, but new games will start costing $70+ on every platform, including PC, they'll follow on too.
Now there is another factor that can keep some PC game prices low and that when you get them on PC, which can sometimes be nearly 2 years after the game initially released.
But generally every industry will soon follow suit for new game releases, even PC. Inflation effects EVERY market.
@WilloftheFans my above statement applies to you too.
You want to talk about "a fair price*... Okay let's talk about that shall we, in 1995, $40-$50 for a video game was considered a fair price.
$50 in 1995 is worth around $100 today and this is just for inflation. But you wanna talk about fair prices right?
Okay how about the cost for making games? The resources needed, the additional time needed? In 1995 an average AAA video game would take 18 months to 2 years to make and had about 50-80 people working on them.
Today your average AAA video game takes 4-6 years to make and requires around 200-400 people working on the project.
What do you think the fair price would be now? Better experts than me actually value a fair game price today should be around $150-180 😂.
You know what the hypocrisy here is though? If you heard that the Devs had to work in modern slavery conditions, getting paid peanuts and the studio still laying off staff, you would be up in arms about it, you'd be mad about it, but you're not willing to pay more than $50 and you best believe there better be no microtransactions.... Right?
@BongoBongo this is factually incorrect, StarLink isn't anything special, but it's not a bad game at all, it does have a few things going for it, albeit a bit repetitive.
It's not a 10 out of 10 game, it's not even 8 out of 10. But it's isn't a 2 or 3 either.
The game is a solid 6-7 and while that isn't the best, it's still worth a look for 10-15 bucks.
I don't think they'll ever be able to live up to the expectations they've made here. They announced this game far too early, built up far too much anticipation and now i just don't believe they'll be able to deliver on that, they know it so they're dragging their feet now, rinsing the franchise for as much as possible.
NGL if Microsoft decides to sell a handheld gaming PC like the many on the market, but sell it at a similar price to whatever Nintendo do for the Switch 2 (because Microsoft can afford to sell at a loss)... This will absolutely cannibalise Nintendo's market share 😂.
@Koda1000 Sony already mentioned they're working on the PS6 a while ago so to be fair they're probably planning for a end of 2026 release giving the PS5 around 6 years on the market which is about what they gave the PS4.
Unfortunately Nintendo taking their sweet time with the Switch 2 is basically putting them back in direction competition, at least in terms of release window, with Sony and Microsoft again.
Probably one of the best traditional JRPGS of all time tbh, a very good deal for anyone who hasn't played, I think the only downside to the game is how formulaic it is, it really doesn't do anything new or groundbreaking for the genre but aside from that, it's one of the best JRPGS games ever made simply because it nails every single traditional tropes we're use to seeing, down to a tee.
Nope I wouldn't even entertain this idea, in fact I'm waiting for there to be a price cut on the Switch, hopefully when the second one comes out, so I can just buy it and keep it in storage, wrapped up and brand new, an OLED one.
Then in 30-40 years I can put it on auction and probably make 100× it's value 😂.
@Bizaster "best" is a matter of opinion, but if you mean by the majority of fans and critics', then nah the highest rated ones are actually gold and silver.
@Rykdrew I think Bayonetta and Astral Chain are slightly longer tbh, I know Bayonetta is a 30-40 hour game just to go through the main story and you got other content too, Astral Chain isn't too bad either but yeah Metroid Dread is a short game, I don't even think it's 10 hours of content, essentially you can beat the game same day you buy it.
Take Hollow Knight for example, it's cheaper than both Metroid Dread and Astro Bot, it's MUCH longer than both games combined and it's a LOT better than either game. All cover the same genre.
The issue with the Virtual Console is that when you purchased anything, it was locked to the console you purchased it on, so if you create a library of games on the VC for your Switch 2, it probably isn't going to be available on any future hardware you buy.
This was my problem with the VC before, I was one of the MANY people who complained that we had to keep buying the same games again and again.
Also Nintendo out here charging $5 for SNES games and $10 for N64 games, buy 5 or 6 of each and that's a 4 year BSO subscription 😂.
@SplatRay001 it definitely is still worth it, the game is still very active. In fact even Monsters Hunter Generation Ultimate on the Switch still has players you can easily find.
Monster hunter games ALWAYS have a solid core of players who play each games for YEARS. It'll still be active after Wilds.
Same with World too, in fact both will still be worth it even long after Wilds release.
Monster Hunter Rise is legitimately one of my favourite games on the Switch, put close to 400 hours on the game and I still need to finish Sunbreak at some stage.
It's a great game, well worth full price even, let alone a discount.
For me the cost of the system and if I'm willing to pay that price hinges entirely on how well or if the Switch 2 will enhance Switch 1 games, because if there is no enhancements to existing titles, particularly with frame rates, then I'd be hard pressed to justify any purchase straight away when I have a perfectly fine OLED Switch with a very very large backlog of games.
Maybe when more games are available I could justify it then, but I doubt I'd be able to justify a purchase early on without a good enhancement to existing Switch 1 games.
@JohnnyMind the fact is that for Nintendo more than any other hardware manufacturer, need to guard their IPs closely because their IPs are what drives their hardware sales, nobody is buying Nintendo hardware to play the next Madden game or Call Of Duty, people buy Nintendo hardware for Nintendo's own software, so for Nintendo, it's more important for them to guard their IPs closely.
They have much more at stake than Sega and Capcom does, you can hate it as much as you like but it is what it is, Nintendo are different to Sony and Microsoft in that for Nintendo, nobody buys their hardware for the latest 3rd party games, for Nintendo everyone buys their hardware to play their software and if you can play their software elsewhere on better hardware, why buy Nintendo hardware?
Same for fan made projects like this, if Nintendo wants to sell tickets for you to watch their version of Zelda, having this exist alongside that is just going to take attention away from what you're doing, Nintendo doesn't need exposure from fan projects, this is Nintendo we're talking about, if their working on a film, you can bet money everyone already knows and no exposure from giddy fans stealing IPs isn't needed 😂.
@JohnnyMind pointing at Sega and Capcom to make your point about Nintendo not allowing fan projects is kinda of immature.
We're talking about different businesses and different strikes for different folkes.
If you don't like it, then build your own business and do it differently, you can't point at Nintendo with tears in your eyes and get mad at them for not doing what you want them to do.
I agree that fan projects should be allowed but I also know that it's more important for Nintendo to maintain a strict control over their IPs than any other business, for quality control because for Nintendo specifically, their IPs are the reason they exist as a business.
If fan projects can effect that, then it's understandable they wouldn't allow it.
We really need some of the N64 wrestling games on here, WWF No Mercy is still to this day considered the best wrestling game ever made, even by today's higher standards, the game still beats newer wrestling games. No organisation has been able to emulate those THQ wrestling games on the N64.
If the NSO service got those games, we would be set.
The funny thing is that Ubisoft knows what it has to do to claw it's way back but they refuse to do it because they refuse to bend to the will of the same customers they have been insulting for the better part of 5 years now.
@moreDKplz I'm sure you do miss those days but from a business perspective, Nintendo needs hardcore gamers to adopt their hardware otherwise they'll end up in another Wii U situation.
Nintendo makes 2-3 games themselves aimed at that crowd, the rest of their games are aimed at a younger audience or an older more casual audience. 2-3 games isn't enough to warrant a purchase so Nintendo NEEDS certain 3rd party Devs to make games on their platform.
I miss those simpler times too but I do NOT miss the Wii U dark ages and I know if Nintendo wants to stay away from that time period, they NEED most of those games I listed and many more too.
This is fine by me, Microsoft now essentially own the rights to:
Elder Scrolls
Fallout
Doom
Call of Duty
Diablo
And a whole bunch of other games that quite frankly, Nintendo needs at least 4-5 mainline games from these franchises to stay relevant to the wider gaming market and not just their hardcore fanbase+kids.
The Switch had these games and because of that, you could make a solid argument for owning a Switch as your primary gaming console. If the Switch 2 doesn't repeat that same thing, making that case would be difficult without being called a casual gamer or a little kid.

Right?
You genuinely think this is fair? 😂

Re: "DROP THE PRICE!!!" Scream Nintendo Fans During Nintendo's Treehouse Live Broadcast
@Jarl76 here let me tell you something about inflation.
In 1995 AAA video games cost £50 to purchase, they normally took 18 months - 2 Years to make and they would take about 50-80 people to work on them.
Let's just based on inflation that £50 you spent in 1995 is actually around £100 today.
This doesn't even factor in that modern AAA video games cost more resources to make, more time to make and requires more people.
If you want to actually get technical about this, your video game is supposed to cost around £180-£200 EACH if you want a real fair price.
You won't buy Nintendo anymore, that's okay, by next year EVERY video game company and AAA game studios will ALL be charging these prices and more.
You have to choose, either you pay these prices or you pay for loot boxes, you cannot have games for £50 anymore, the cost doesn't work anymore.
Re: "DROP THE PRICE!!!" Scream Nintendo Fans During Nintendo's Treehouse Live Broadcast
I will still buy it and I will still buy the games, it's just that instead of buying 2-3 games per month, I might buy 1 game and that's about it.

Re: Poll: Which Pokémon Game Really Deserves A Remake Next?
I just want a sequel to Pokémon Legends Arceus
Re: No Wins For Nintendo At DICE Awards, But Balatro Bags A Three Of A Kind
@Rykdrew oh yeah Bayo 1 was a short game, 2 and 3 have much more meat to them, especially in terms of side stuff you can do.
Imo Hollow Knight, Hades and Dead Cells are probably some of the best value for money games on the market.
Re: No Wins For Nintendo At DICE Awards, But Balatro Bags A Three Of A Kind
@Rykdrew I think Bayonetta and Astral Chain are slightly longer tbh, I know Bayonetta is a 30-40 hour game just to go through the main story and you got other content too, Astral Chain isn't too bad either but yeah Metroid Dread is a short game, I don't even think it's 10 hours of content, essentially you can beat the game same day you buy it.
Take Hollow Knight for example, it's cheaper than both Metroid Dread and Astro Bot, it's MUCH longer than both games combined and it's a LOT better than either game. All cover the same genre.
Re: Hideki Kamiya Wants Nintendo To Reboot Virtual Console For Switch 2
The issue with the Virtual Console is that when you purchased anything, it was locked to the console you purchased it on, so if you create a library of games on the VC for your Switch 2, it probably isn't going to be available on any future hardware you buy.
This was my problem with the VC before, I was one of the MANY people who complained that we had to keep buying the same games again and again.
Also Nintendo out here charging $5 for SNES games and $10 for N64 games, buy 5 or 6 of each and that's a 4 year BSO subscription 😂.
Re: No Wins For Nintendo At DICE Awards, But Balatro Bags A Three Of A Kind
Astro Bot is a great game but I just found it far too short to be worth the cost of a full AAA game.
If I'm going to spend $60 on a game I want it to last at least 20 hours, it's hard to justify $60 on a game you can beat in half a weekend 😂.
Re: Save On Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, Mega Man With Capcom's eShop Sale (US)
@SplatRay001 it definitely is still worth it, the game is still very active.
Re: Save On Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, Mega Man With Capcom's eShop Sale (US)
Monster Hunter Rise is legitimately one of my favourite games on the Switch, put close to 400 hours on the game and I still need to finish Sunbreak at some stage.
It's a great game, well worth full price even, let alone a discount.
Re: Don't Worry, Nintendo's Thinking About Affordability With Switch 2 Pricing
For me the cost of the system and if I'm
willing to pay that price hinges entirely on how well or if the Switch 2 will enhance Switch 1 games, because if there is no enhancements to existing titles, particularly with frame rates, then I'd be hard pressed to justify any purchase straight away when I have a perfectly fine OLED Switch with a very very large backlog of games.
Maybe when more games are available I could justify it then, but I doubt I'd be able to justify a purchase early on without a good enhancement to existing Switch 1 games.
Re: Nintendo Shuts Down Live-Action Zelda Fan Film, 'Lost In Hyrule'
Re: Nintendo Shuts Down Live-Action Zelda Fan Film, 'Lost In Hyrule'
Re: Every Nintendo Switch Online N64 Game Ranked
We really need some of the N64 wrestling games on here, WWF No Mercy is still to this day considered the best wrestling game ever made, even by today's higher standards, the game still beats newer wrestling games. No organisation has been able to emulate those THQ wrestling games on the N64.
If the NSO service got those games, we would be set.
Re: Ubisoft Confirms Another Wave Of Layoffs, With 185 Employees Affected
The funny thing is that Ubisoft knows what it has to do to claw it's way back but they refuse to do it because they refuse to bend to the will of the same customers they have been insulting for the better part of 5 years now.
Re: Xbox Is "Really Looking Forward" To Supporting Switch 2
Re: Xbox Is "Really Looking Forward" To Supporting Switch 2
