Re: Nintendo Wants To Be An Entertainment Company, Rather Than A Gaming One

RazorThin

You guys are taking this waaay the wrong way. Think of it like Disney or Universal. Both are huge entertainment companies which started with film but expanded to other forms of entertainment such as theme parks, TV shows, merchandise, etc. Nintendo wants to expand in such ways, to strengthen the value of their IP. If someone lets say is a big Mario fan, they not only will buy Mario games but will go to a theme park with Mario rides and etc. They are a business and want people to love their IP. Y’all are dumb to even think they would stop making video games x3

Re: Nintendo "Looking At" VR Technology, But It "Has To Be Fun" Before Being Implemented

RazorThin

I have no intentions to try VR, so Switch having VR or not isn’t important to me. Its easy for a developer to throw together a series of mini games like Valve does and just do that but I think Nintendo is above the level that Valve has stooped to. Yeah there’s other VR ports of preexisting games like Skyrim and Fallout 4 but I think a lot of developers aren’t even sure what to do with VR. Imo I think VR will either exist as a slightly popular niche as it does now, or will fade away.

Re: Despite The Recent Bankruptcy and Layoffs, Retailer Toys 'R' Us Might Be Making A Comeback

RazorThin

Maybe open select stores but with a warehouse style layout. Keep everything in big quantities above the shelves like Cotco but on a more consumer friendly layout similar to Home Depot/Lowe’s. Have only a few stores but the stores can act also as a warehouse with parcel shipping within the store’s area. On days like Black Friday the extra space above shelves will be very useful. Keeps things fast since toys that are in demand won’t have to go to a DC but to the store itself. Also their presense should be more online, but with pick up at store options as well if customers want product sooner. I dunno just a random idea.

Re: Vivendi Set To Sell All Shares In Ubisoft By March 2019

RazorThin

To investors all they see are those expensive IPs, Vivendi probably wanted to get their hands on that and push them to be some mobile game studio. Some companies it makes sense to go public, but for a game studio where your IPs are your driving force for income I find that to me risky.

Re: Random: Fans Ask For A Philips CD-i Classic, Philips Says "We Will Try Our Best"

RazorThin

@Orwellianson I wouldn’t say its bad to be a fan of the CD-I, as I personally have quite a bit of interest in it based on its strange history. Of course if people think the console was successful and amazing then yeah they may be wrong in the head. The console was garbage but still fascinating in a time where there were many different formats battling for superiority at the time.

Re: Illegal Game Sharing Site Mocks Nintendo's Recent Legal Actions With Trolling Video

RazorThin

I’ll admit I have downloaded a lot of roms, I try to only get roms I have physical copies of. But as others have mentioned it is an odd “gray area” when it comes to legal stuff. I have had quite a few friends which pirate games, also download roms because they can’t afford games. I do think that is wrong as things cost money for a reason. But if someone is downloading roms for other productive reasons such as historical preservation, studying, or game development I think that is fine. But as I said in a previous comment if a company wants to limit the amount of games they release they have every right to. And people will find a way to download them for free which I have no issue with. But once people start trying to say they have some god given right to download those games for free then I think that isn’t right. Everybody steals something in their life, but you don’t hear people saying how they have the right to rob houses or steal cars. Anyways that’s my 2 cents

Re: Nintendo Enforces Takedown Of Fan-Made Game Creator Pokémon Essentials

RazorThin

I noticed something someone said in the comments on one of the articles pertaining to the ROM site takedowns. Not only were many of the sites giving away games for free, they were using many character IPs to represent their sites and downloads. There’s a difference between being a fan of Nintendo games and ripping their characters off to represent your own product. If you’re a budding game designer try to make something original, it may be impossible to get noticed if you don’t have Mario or Pikachu as star of your game but it’ll payoff more in the long run.

Re: Cult RPG Hit Undertale Arrives In North America And Europe On 18th September

RazorThin

@Heavyarms55 It’s one of those super highly rated indie games that kinda fades away on its own. The fanbase and media blew it out of proportions (had like a 99 on metacritic after being released) and then suddenly just fell behind. I started playing it after launch because a friend gifted it to me, I thoroughly enjoyed it but after an hour or so I felt no desire to go back and finish. Maybe I should go about that now hah.

Re: Feature: What Does Nintendo's Shutdown Of ROM-Sharing Sites Mean For Video Game Preservation?

RazorThin

If you search deep enough you’ll find some private rom storage sites for historical purposes, I found one that I use to download roms to test emulators and what not. Or get some rare/overpriced games I can’t get. I would happily pay for said games on the Switch or another platform I use if it was offered but I have to resort to downloading online for now. Places like emuparadise and coolroom etc may try to say they are preserving history when we all know what those sites have been used for. I just wish there was a way people could appreciate games without worry of people using it to steal to save a couple bucks. Maybe there should be come controlled archive online, maybe people can pay a subscription (you know like paying for a ticket to a museum)

Re: Talking Point: Switch's Blazing First Year Means Fewer Games In 2018 Shouldn't Be A Concern

RazorThin

I really have no issues with how they’ve been doing things, unfortunately I don’t make enough money to buy games when they come out so I usually end up picking up games after a good paycheck. Recently I just got Mario and Rabbids and that game is really fun, I plan on picking up Octopath this week as well. Of course the only thing I wish for is more third party but I play a lot of games on my PC as well.
EDIT: Also I really want more racing games!

Re: Just How Is Nintendo Making All The Cardboard Kits For Nintendo Labo?

RazorThin

Don’t really understand the negative attention towards this, I quite enjoy the idea and always made cardboard crafts when i was a kid. The garage mode is what sells it for me, already plan on making the guitar and a few other instruments. But of course people have to think the development of this is taking away from games like Prime 4 and Smash 5, ah well.

Re: ARMS Version 4.0 Arrives on 16th November

RazorThin

@Bengals76 But what they’re doing keeps the game relevant far after its release. They built a solid game, and after the game comes out the devs decided to make more characters for free. I don’t see the problem here.

Re: Microsoft Wants To Reach Gamers On Rival Systems, Says Xbox Chief Phil Spencer

RazorThin

This is what I take it as. Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, pretty much every AAA game company has been using mobile devices as a way to put out their IP to gain interest in their products. I think Microsoft wants to use that idea but open it up, putting games on other devices that aren’t their own to gain interest in their products. No Halo 6 or Forza 7 likely won’t be on your Nintendo Switch. But what I do see is a Forza, Halo, or even a Rare game “spin off” put onto the Switch or PS4. Maybe a small arcade-sim version of Forza 7 with limited features but still has the taste of Forza. That’ll get people to want to be interested in Microsoft’s product and maybe want to buy a PC or Xbox One X as a new console rather than one from Sony.

Re: ARMS Version 3.1.0 Is Now Available

RazorThin

I bought Arms day one thinking I’d play it more but... I really haven’t found the want to play the game. I tend to find most fighting games come across as rather bland to me.
Though I am glad to see that it’s still getting regular updates.
