I like the videos but I was kinda hoping it was a video and written article to accompany it. Sometimes I'm in a place I can't listen to audio (like not paying attention in my college classes).
I wish there were more interesting rewards and not just coupons and pictures/videos. Stuff like that was maybe cool 10-15 years ago. If I really wanted a Mario mobile wallpaper there are plenty to chose from on google. Physical rewards would be really great, like what Club Nintendo offered. Though I don't really remember Club Nintendo too much because I always never had enough points to get any cool rewards and the points always expired when I was saving them up for one of the more expensive rewards...
I think emulation is okay if you own the games you're emulating. But that's not always the case with everybody else. Most people who emulate just download rom and iso files and play games for free on their cell phone or computer. I can garuantee that most people who are going to be playing Breath of the Wild on their computer won't actually be playing their own rips of the game. They just downloaded it online and play it for free. Also why did they take money for development? That's going too far.
I really wish this was being put on the Switch, my 3DS is just a Mario Kart DS machine now with no other purpose. Haha, but seriously I might pick it up if I remember it.
I'm going to pick it up, mainly because I want a game with solid content that really pushes the Joycon concept. I wonder how the regular controls will work, since you need to twist the Joycon in the direction you want the arms to punch. Maybe each analog stick will control that.
Since most people who use emulators use them to pirate games and not for their intended purpose of archiving video game software, I can see this barely being used.
I love the gameplay of classic Sonic games but I could never get behind the modern Sonic games. The gameplay is just kinda strange and not fun to me. It's really hard for me to explain but it just doesn't feel right.
I can't believe they had that poll for favorite characters, Ike won, and they didn't put him in the game. He's definitely one of the more interesting and popular heroes of the later Fire Emblem games so what's their hold up?
@SLIGEACH_EIRE I actually have something to look forward to when there's new articles here, your strange baseless negative remarks. They're kinda funny sometimes.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE I'm actually pretty happy about these ports because I've never played any of these games on their original systems. I think that's the audience they're going for. If you already own them, then don't buy them. It's as simple as that and far from a cash grab.
Personally I don't really care if the Switch ever gets anything else. I know it's not the situation for everybody, but I'm perfectly content if Zelda and Mario Kart were the only games I ever had to play hah. Well, if Half Life 3 were to ever exist on the Switch I would be interested, but that's just fantasy.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Oh I didn't know you actually used that "scamiibo" word of yours seriously. I thought just your little followers did that. I don't see the problem with them since they're really nice models of popular Nintendo characters that offer optional content in games. The Wolf Link amiibo alone is worth more than any $14.99 map pack for any generic third party first person shooter.
I saw Metal Slug updated last night and the sound is marginally better.. but still delayed by just a quarter of a second or so. It's not much of a big deal since Metal Slug is a crazy shoot em up game, firing bullets every second makes the issue seem nonexistent.
My only problem I have with taking mine portable is sometimes there's too much stuff to carry. I have a case that fits just my Switch but sometimes I take the grip and the charger and it can be kinda hard to bring around if I don't have my backpack. It's not a complaint, I just need to invest in a small bag that's easy to carry around.
When I was into the amiibo craze I didn't get the Link Smash Bros amiibo because I was focusing on getting all the rare ones first. Now that I hear it gives you Link's outfit from Twilight Princess I've frantically been searching for it and can't find one anywhere on store shelves. I've actually found all of the Breath of the Wild amiibo except for the Guardian but no Smash Bros Link. Oh well.
@JohnBlackstar Just looked that up and now I understand the scratching issue. When I get home I'll try this penny test, but I guess mine is alright since it's not too tight around my Switch as is. It's a shame that something could be overlooked like this, but I guess those on the assembly line don't have enough time to check for stuff like that.
I do think the Joycon issue exists. I don't think the screen scratching issue exists. People are being irresponsible and maybe dropping their Switch into the dock too hard or not pulling it out right. I've pulled mine in and out of the dock and don't really see how the screen could get scratched. It is plastic inside but I don't see any scraping going on. A handful of people are saying they're having a problem, then people spread it around and it makes it seem like everybody is having a problem. It's unfortunate for those who are having issues but Nintendo can easily fix/replace those few Joycons or Switches. People are so quick to complain or judge especially when it comes to video games.
Man this makes me all emotional. Losing someone can be detrimental to everybody, even outside of the friend/family/work group. I'm certain he was probably watching over them, making sure they knew what to do to make such a wonderful product. May you still rest in peace Iwata.
I love you Reggie but you gotta open up more sometimes. I know he's pretty much a puppet to NOA but can't they at least give him something to say that's at least new and interesting once in a while. Maybe answer some questions fans have been having for years.
Not really sure why there's any point in complaining. Wasn't it even said a while ago that you could go straight to Ganon from the beginning? I think it was said to get people to do this. It's fun and fascinating to see how people play, there is no "right" way.
I'm super excited for the NEO GEO games that came out today (for us mericans, everybody else already has them). I don't want to blow all my money so I just bought Metal Slug, and it's as great as I remember it. I'm gonna try to buy the rest later but Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is looming in the distance so I may save for that. Also Master Blaster looks great, though I've never played the original.
Aw man nobody is gonna buy the classic Candy Hoarder? Seriously, why do games like this make it onto the Wii U especially after it's losing interest because of the Switch.
A wild guess but maybe since it was wrapped snug in the package maybe that bent the plastic ever so slightly to make the opening for the Switch tablet too tight? I dunno maybe a reason.
@Musashiden For that one I used the cryonis rune to make platforms leading to the tower. Man I did it fast as hell thought because the mages were trying to target me.
What I hope this means is that Nintendo is getting YouTube and Netflix to actually make decent apps for the Switch. The apps they made for Wii U weren't so great, not like it's a problem though because I just can watch everything on my Apple TV. Though yesterday I was thinking it would be nice if it had Netflix so I can just watch anything wherever I go, since my phone is small and I don't have a tablet.
Not saying the problem doesn't exist but, my joycons have given me zero problems. I performed the same test that GameXplain did like putting the left one behind your back or covering it while moving the joystick and no matter what it works perfectly fine for me and I couldn't replicate the issue. That does make it lean more towards hardware oriented but maybe it's only a few select consoles that are affected and Nintendo can simply do a recall on the models of left joycons that they figured out were affected. Its a problem for every new technology; computers, video game systems, TVs, the first iteration always has a few hiccups and then things start to even out later. The Xbox 360 had the red ring of death and ended up being incredibly successful. Even the PS3 had the yellow light of death which wasn't as apparent but still an issue. And a lot of problems with early disc based systems too from the 90s like the Sega CD/Mega CD. Anyways, my point is that it's definitely a shame for those who have the issue but not an end of Nintendo. They're only just getting started with the Switch and have a long ways to go.
I remember when the Wii U came out and Nintendo believed the console could live on word of mouth and the fact that it has "Wii" in the title. They also did minimal advertising on some TV channels, mainly family ones like Disney and Cartoon Network but after a few months they pulled all their advertising because of the lackluster interest in the new console. I really like the advertising approach this time around with the Switch and their Twitter/Facebook/YouTube pages are pretty nice too. What my worry is that they'll decide that advertising isn't worth it and just let the system try to survive on its own which will be the downfall of it. People need to know Nintendo has a new console, they really need to sell it. I still remember the "Wii would like to play" ads from 10 years ago, friends family and even people who didn't play video games were taking about the console because of their large amounts of advertising for it. I see a bright future for Nintendo if they can try to push this console as much as they can.
Remember a few years ago when Super Mario 3D Land was released and everybody was amazed at how a portable game could look so good? Well, today that is completely blown away by Zelda. Of course the game looks great but when I pull out my Switch and take it to go, it's truly incredible. To have a game of this caliber right in your hands anywhere blows my mind. I took it to work last night and played during my lunch and it was quite an experience. I know the Wii U version will be great too, but I think my Switch purchase is entirely worth it just for this game.
I noticed it here and there when I was playing last night but it didn't really bother me whatsoever. I guess I'm just used to a crappy frame rate from when I had a crappy PC when I was into that kinda gaming.
I remember with my 360 if I bumped the controller or accidentally dropped it, it would shut off and lose its connection. Aggravating yes, but I could deal with it. I feel the same towards this left Joycon issue, maybe a little annoying but I see it not really being a big problem for me as long as the controllers aren't obstructed.
Hey I've got a strange theory, maybe the friend codes are a temporary thing until they get the online service up and running. It was just not too long ago Reggie said no to friend codes on Switch, and the Wii U let you search by username. Either someone messed up at HQ or they'll change it later.
Maybe a bit off topic from the article but, a part of me kinda wants there to be a lot of references in BOTW to other favorite Zelda games. Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Switch Has Started Well - Now the Real Challenge Begins
I've got high hopes, mainly because I see a strong lineup of software. All the games that made their portable systems so popular they can make for the Switch. Imagine Pokémon on the big screen, then to take the Switch out and play on the go.
Also the loudest complaints I've been hearing about the Switch are mainly software related, and can easily be added or changed later. They've got enough time to get things in place before the holidays.
