Re: Review: DC's Justice League: Cosmic Chaos - Surprisingly Super, But Not Without Performance Woes

Ratchet916

@sixrings Perhaps, and I'm sure that's well in the works at this point, but it still doesn't excuse poorly optimized ports at this point. This game has simple, although charming graphics, the Switch should play this one easily without a hitch. Obviously first-party titles are a high bar since Nintendo has intimate knowledge on the strengths and weaknesses of the hardware, but we've seen countless examples of games that are visually far more complex and still run beautifully. Stop giving developers a pass for putting such little effort into their games.

Re: Virtua Racing-Inspired 'Formula Retro Racing World Tour' Speeds Onto Switch

Ratchet916

I'm not getting my hopes up until someone who's familiar with what made the arcade racers of the past so amazing gives it a review. I realize a lot of developers have been trying to cash in on the arcade racing nostalgia left by the likes of Virtua Racing, Daytona USA, Scud Race (Sega GT), etc., but none of them so far have realized that it's going to take more than low poly/low color pallet graphics and chiptune music to recapture that feeling. While a lot of these revivals look and sound wonderful, not a single one have nailed the handling characteristics that made the greats of old so damned good.

Re: No Man's Sky's New Endurance Update Confirmed For The Ever-Expanding Switch Port

Ratchet916

@nimnio LOL, that's an interesting "vibe" to be getting based on how little I said. I'm fully aware what the Switch is and is not capable of, and I certainly don't expect it churn out 60 fps top tier graphics for me to be pleased. However, they've posted a bunch of screenshots in the article that were clearly taken on a PC, so I'm hoping people temper their expectations and don't expect it to look anything like those do. It's a very big, complex game engine, it's not likely to look very nice on the humble Switch.

Re: Arcade Racer 'Sunrise GP' Coming To Switch This Year

Ratchet916

This looks terrible, like an already low-budget mobile port that's taken "inspiration" from lots of other, more recognizable games and implemented NONE of it well. The horrible trailer certainly isn't helping it any, from bad narration to wonky looking handling characteristics, this just looks all bad.

Re: Sam & Max: Beyond Time And Space Remastered Is Heading To Switch

Ratchet916

@kobashi100 I think you need to reread my comment for clarity, I clearly stated that I was opposed to any and all erasures of history. Also, I clearly stated that people against censorship stand on both sides of the political spectrum and neglected to mention where I stand in that spectrum myself, why did you feel it necessary to speak for "people on the left?" I'm simply speaking on the issue in front of us, changing the dialogue of a game. Unfortunately, the issue of censorship should be a non-partisan issue, but it continually gets hijacked in the world of politics.

Re: Sam & Max: Beyond Time And Space Remastered Is Heading To Switch

Ratchet916

@nessisonett I personally don't think the issue of censorship should be bound to any political affiliation, many people who oppose censorship stand on opposite sides of the spectrum. Either way, the only reason it matters to me is I don't buy the idea of erasing things from the past. If anything, we can look back on it as a window into what once was and see just how much we've changed.

Re: Get Ready To Race As Speed 3: Grand Prix Whizzes Onto Switch Soon

Ratchet916

NL: "If you're in the market for a realistic racing game, then you might want to check out Speed 3: Grand Prix."

Game Trailer: No less than a dozen explosions, F1 style cars racing on city streets and highways, and self described as "explosive arcade action."

Yes, NL, clearly this is the REALISTIC racing sim we've all been waiting for.

Re: Legal Documents Show That Monster Energy Opposed Ubisoft's Gods & Monsters Game Title

Ratchet916

@Mion18 I wouldn't let this come in the way of your purchasing decision. If they really did change the name due to legal pressure from Monster Energy, it's also quite likely that the settlement they reached with them to drop the case included not being able to publicly disclose the reason. Blame the lawyers and the legal system for allowing silly things like this to happen, not Ubisoft.

Re: Award-Winning Puzzler The Almost Gone Brings Emotional Storytelling To Switch

Ratchet916

Looks interesting, I do enjoy a good puzzler. A search of the Apple App Store shows it's releasing there on the same day, but for $3.99. Seeing as how puzzlers usually work quite well with touchscreens, I think I'll save myself 11 bucks and play it on my iPhone instead, I just don't see the need to spend more than 3 times the price to play it on Switch.
