Pokémon GO Fest is set to return this summer as a two-day global event, developer Niantic has announced.
An annual affair, GO Fest offers players the chance to take part in large, community-focused events and serves as the game's biggest yearly celebration. Last year's event debuted a brand new format that saw players from around the globe working together to complete challenges, unlock rewards, and defeat Team GO Rocket.
This year's event will run from 17th - 18th July, but Niantic is keeping quiet about what it has in store. In a press release, the company says, "2021 marks both the twenty-fifth anniversary of Pokémon and the fifth anniversary of Pokémon GO, so trust us when we say you won’t want to miss Pokémon GO Fest 2021! We can’t wait to celebrate another summer together. Stay tuned for more details!"
Anyone else notice how they stressed 'tuned'? Hmm.
Those details will no doubt be with us fairly soon what with the event only being three months away, so we'll keep an eye out for more info as it comes.

It'll probably just be another event that costs a bunch of money up front, so you can take part in busywork for a couple of days that fills your storage with effortlessly gained shinies and make you question why you did all this to begin with.
I took part in last years event, and have barely played since, so why not?
I had a blast with the Kanto event and it had some very nice rewards.
But Niantic has a bad history of not being able to handle the player surge of large events. For an anniversary event, I will be concerned.
@Heavyarms55 My thoughts exactly! I do enjoy these special events, but they almost always have moderate to severe technical issues that come with them and end up rolling out "make up days" after the fact. We'll see if they can get this one right.
