I just can't see this one providing a whole lot more enjoyment beyond the initial novelty factor. Sure, it'll provide a few grins when mashing genres, but unless the actual "games" you make from the mashups are decent quality, this will grow stale quickly.
Hopefully this means the scumbags who are buying up stock right now to price gouge will be stuck with taking losses. People who pull that crap are soulless pieces of dirt, especially in times like these.
I personally don’t mind since I would likely play solo anyway, but it would be nice to at least have the option to play with others via online matchmaking. Still interested as dungeon crawlers/looters are my jam, but I’ll be waiting for reviews before pulling the trigger.
This game better run at a fixed 1080p/720p (docked/portable) resolution and a rock solid 60 fps, with such simplified graphics anything else would be inexcusable. If they can't manage that on Switch, I'll likely skip it or give it a go on PC if it reviews well.
Lesson learned? If someone offers you $1.2 million for an otherwise old piece of junk you found in your attic, you TAKE THE DAMN MONEY!!! I can't help but laugh at this guy for being so greedy.
@mesome713 So much salt, wow. Tencent didn’t buy them, they made a capital investment, Platinum is still very much it’s own private company. They also happen to make some of the finest action games available, so I’m not sure why you’d wish them to fail. Are you a disgruntled PS4 bro who’s still angry about Astral Chain and Bayonetta exclusivity?
@Samwise7 Actually, no woman has ever HAD to play as a man, just like no man has ever HAD to play as a woman. We have the right to choose whether we play a game or not based on our individual preferences and tolerances, just as @RightWingGamer has the right to decline to play based on his preferences, whether we agree with them or not.
Tough to say, considering DxM is being let into the wild only 6 months after release. If they do let this one hit other platforms quickly, it might be a sign that Nintendo is showing interest in shifting their business to the publishing side of the industry, not sure how I would feel about that.
@Ventilator You're confused... "I don't know why it's even called Sparkle anymore as the newer ones is different kind of games."
Two completely different game series by two completely different devs. The Sparkle series you're referring to is a match-3 game by 10tons, the Sparkle series they're talking about in the article (which includes Sparkle 2 Evo) is and has always been an evolution game by Forever Entertainment. The two are completely unrelated.
Why are we calling these “Pro Controllers” when they’re clearly anything but an actual Pro Controller? They’re just third party junkers, call then what they actually are.
@Mince "Should i skip dead cells, gris or many other mobile games?"
Both of those games were developed for consoles/PC first, then later ported to be playable on mobile devices. I think it's the games that were developed first for mobile and then ported for consoles/PC that irritate people since they rarely translate well as a full-fat gaming experience.
This is exactly what I was afraid of, sounds like it wasn’t revamped enough from the mobile F2P version. Honestly, developers need to stop making half-hearted attempts at taking a game designed around micro-transactions/mobile play work on the Switch. These games are designed from the ground up to encourage in-app purchases and they rarely translate well as a premium game. If anything, they could reuse assets and core gameplay mechanics, but they really need to redesign the gameplay loop and structure if they want it to seem like more than a lazy cash-grab.
Either way, I’ve kept the chain going for this long, I’m still going to download it and give it a spin. My expectations will be set awfully low.
@Shiryu Fair enough, I'll try to keep an open mind. Usually the transition from F2P mobile doesn't work out so well (I'm looking at you, Gear.Club), so I've learned to temper my expectations accordingly.
I'm intrigued, but I question the quality and playability of the actual game mash-ups beyond the novelty factor. Gonna keep an eye out for this, but definitely waiting for a review.
The way the camera jolts back and forth when the player changes directions in the video is really annoying, almost to the point of making me motion sick.
Glad to see someone finally giving these games the mediocre scores they deserve. This series is one of the most over-hyped lumps in gaming, not the glowing gems they're made out to be.
@Heavyarms55 I have to agree, since collecting Stardust is obviously the biggest grind in the game, this sucks! When you're on the hook for ~250k Stardust to fully level a single 'Mon, this just hurts.
North Koreans can rejoice as they play classics like:
"Shine the Supreme Leaders Shoes or Die in a Labor Camp" "Sell Your Soul for a Measly Bag of Rice" "The Supreme Leader Conquers All," a game in which you play as Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un, riding on a Unicorn, which is riding on an ICBM, which blows up America!
And just like that, Capcom will become the latest to put out laughably low effort releases then blame Switch owners for not supporting them, right before they pull out of supporting the platform. A shame, really.
I've got some pretty fond memories of Puzzle Quest, I poured a LOT of time into this one years ago. Sounds like it might not hold up quite as well as I remember, but I think I'll go ahead and spring for it again since the asking price is more than reasonable considering how many potential hours of fun there are to be had here. Hopefully the devs can iron out some of the kinks I've read about, but it doesn't sound like anything too game-breaking is holding it back.
@Muriustar I wouldn't use this game as a test for whether or not you'll like Zelda, you'll only be let down if you do. I would suggest buying a copy of BotW on the secondhand market, that way you're getting the real deal but not paying the full asking price.
Considering this game doesn't require physical controls and was actually designed for mobile touch-screens, I'd just buy it for $4.99 on the iPhone and play it there. Save yourself the money, you're not getting any better experience on the Switch for almost 3 times the price. Having said that, I've played it on mobile and confirm, it's a pretty good game.
Every update I read on the Switch version just solidifies for me that cancelling my physical pre-order was the right call. I played this for about an hour on a friend’s Switch a few months ago, the majority of Steam Early Access games I’ve played were more polished than this. Sadly, I think I’ll end up skipping this one altogether. I won’t be buying it on Switch or any other platform down the road, they don’t deserve to be rewarded with my money for screwing up this bad.
@Heavyarms55 If I had to guess, I'd say it's probably the older generation of gamers like myself (38) who grew up playing with inverted controls on early console FPS games or have logged countless hours in PC flight and space sims. I agree with you and AG_Awesome, a poll would be interesting, especially if it's more in depth than simply asking inverted vs. standard.
That’s a huge omission, lots of players (myself included) can’t cope without inverting the Y-axis. Probably stems from my roots in PC flight sims, but I simply can’t play without it.
@locky-mavo That’s true, but I’ve already put a couple hundred hours into BL2 on PC, so it’s not a necessity for me. I was interested in revisiting it again on Switch, until Randy started going full a**hole a couple years ago. Having said that, the game is so damned good I might end up putting my disdain aside and biting again if it happens.
There’s already an abundance of external monitors available for Switch, they’re called televisions. Seeing as how this is just as portable as a television, I think I’ll pass.
@SakuraHaruka The only thing this game has resembling NFS is cars. If you’ve never played one of these Gameloft mobile turds, you’re in for disappointment. They play like you’re nearly on rails and the timers make it so you’ll have to fork out some serious money to keep playing for longer sessions. Don’t expect any sort of fulfilling career mode either, it instantly becomes obvious that the races are tuned around quick play sessions to suit mobile gaming play style.
I would certainly expect them all to be on one card, DS games don’t exactly take up much space. I would have been more surprised if they hadn’t done it this way, don’t go and give Capcom too much credit on this one.
