@sfb I certainly hope they pay attention to this and fine-tune it to be a little more forgiving. I totally agree that the RNG should be there to dictate pacing, not doom a playthrough outright. It's hard to get into a game where you can do everything right, yet still have zero chances of success is the RNG's aren't favorable.
I hope they get this sorted out, because the premise, visuals, and audio tracks are just begging me to pull the trigger.
@Preposterous Well I stand corrected on that front then, but I maintain that it’s still worth every dollar they’re asking. Lots of fun to be had for only a Jackson, and they’re not being dicks and “Switch-taxing” us like so many other devs.
@Swindla The price is high?! This was a $40 game when it first came out on PC, they're giving it away at half that now on Switch. Forget the fact that you can get it on sale for 5 bucks on PC, of course they run sales on games that have been out for a long time on a platform. Not sure how low you were expecting this to sell for, but they can't give it away for 5 bucks on Switch considering the development work that goes into porting it over. They don't just magically flip a switch in the code and say "Okay, it works on Nintendo Switch now." Honestly, the price is totally fair and justified for how much gameplay there is to be had here.
@SenseiDje Rad Rodgers is seriously disappointing, save your money. I bought the Switch version for the exact same reason, thinking I could get some passable Duke action. Alas, I spent 3 grueling hours with it and it proved to be a completely uninspired slog along with being a pretty messy Switch port.
“What we're most confused about in regards to ESO is why it's gone from being a storage issue to a power issue.”
I think you might be taking the statement of it not being a “fit” for the Switch too literally, it was likely always a power issue. Whether The Witcher 3 works or not is beside the point, MMO’s have always been a CPU-bound affair from my experience. There’s so much netcode that has to be processed client-side and reflected on the screen at once, it’s not surprising that the Tegra CPU cores just aren’t up to the task.
Only a company as crumby and arrogant as EA could spit in the faces of the fastest growing console community, all the while claiming to love and support Nintendo. “Service,” with a smile!
@commentlife Wait a minute, bear with me as I've yet to play either Hotline Miami game, but you're telling me there's a rape scene in HM2 that got no mention here while NL constantly goes on about "misogyny" and anime boobs? Yeah, that's not exactly staying consistent, but I honestly think the phony virtue signaling here is laughable at best.
The one SNES game I truly yearn to play again, not only because it was a FANTASTIC game but because I don't think it was ever released on another system... METAL WARRIORS!
@biglittlejake Speaking of revivals and sports games, I’d throw my money so fast at an honest to God NFL Blitz remake! Doubt that will ever happen though, who knows where the rights to that one ended up when Midway folded.
This may sound counter intuitive, but it actually delights me to hear that a game I’m interested in has been delayed. It means they’re likely not going to release a broken piece of trash that can only be made barely playable through patches. When a game releases in a broken state, they’ve usually lost me altogether, even if they do fix it later on.
Glad they’re fixing it, but my expectations are really low considering the poor initial state at release. Either way, they should have released it correctly the first time.
5 seconds into the trailer: "Gameplay captured directly on Nintendo Switch"
Take note, developers. THIS is how it should be done, quit baiting Switch users with bullshots. I was already considering picking this one up, but that seals the deal for me.
@Kalmaro @Mince There’s nothing particularly wrong with the game, I played it years ago and enjoyed it. But coming out now on Switch 6 years later when there’s far better offerings in the genre, it looks like shovelware in comparison.
If they’re able to patch up the issues that plague the Switch version, I’m happy to see it, but it’s going to take a lot of work. If they are able to improve the performance significantly and squash the bugs, it only proves the point... they didn’t do the job correctly the first time around. This crap needs to stop, release a stable game from the get go, even if it does take longer!
@Shigeru Haha, I'm just busting his chops a bit. Zion is fine, but it just doesn't feel like a NL video to me unless I'm greeted with "Heeeello there, lovely people!"
Going against the grain here, I think the opening CG is rather charming. I doubt this is a case of the devs not being talented animators, it looks to me to be a throwback to the CG of the 90's since the screen itself looks like a stylized version of a 90's Windows machine. The game itself looks like it's got some serious potential, I'm keeping an eye on this one.
@Edu23XWiiU If the port is handled well, I'd expect Alien Isolation to give Outlast 2 some serious competition. For fans of the franchise, it'll be a no brainer.
This game was pretty lousy back in 1985, I doubt it’s gotten better enough to justify a buy. That’s a no for me, but I’ll happily throw my money down for an M2 remake of Daytona USA, Sega Rally Championship, or SCUD Race.
RTS games tend to be horrible when ported to consoles and played with controllers, with few exceptions. They better make use or the touch screen in handheld mode if they want to make this even remotely playable.
Translation: “Our budget for this one was meager and we wanted to pump something out as quickly as possible, so we cut the roster and priced the game accordingly. If enough people buy this stripped down game, we MIGHT consider making another another more full fledged game.”
Wow, delayed for over a year and they still deliver a shoddy port that underperforms? Thanks, but no thanks. I'll stick with Fast RMX, this will surely be a letdown to play after Shin'en set the bar so high.
@kobashi100 I'm not advocating that it's probably a bad port with poor performance because of the frame-rate cap, there's far more to performance than target FPS. I couldn't care less if it's capped at 30 as long as it's a stable 30 and it doesn't look like a washed out mess due to super low resolution. I'm guessing it has frame-pacing issues, low resolution, blurry textures, missing effects, long loading times, etc... those are reasons to consider it a poor port, not the target FPS. Again, this obviously just me guessing, but this isn't exactly the first time we've seen this play out.
@kobashi100 I think you're missing the point, they only sent out review codes for PS4 because it's the best example of the game. Xbone will be on par, but with slightly lower resolution (vanilla PS4 vs. vanilla Xbone) so one one cares really. Not sending out ANY Switch codes is clear indication that they didn't want the review averages to slump based on poor reviews that point to poor performance. This isn't rocket science, think about it.
@patbacknitro18 You're right, other review outlets have gotten codes early, but point me to review outlets that have gotten Switch specific codes for review. Spoiler alert... there are none. Plenty of reviews to be had for every other platform, but none on the Switch specifically. NL is one of the biggest Nintendo review sites around, there's no way they just happened to not make the cut, they've kept review copies out of all Nintendo specific outfits. That doesn't sit well with me, shouldn't for you either.
I'm guessing they haven't provided NL with a review copy because it's already a mediocre game and it wasn't ported well to Switch. They're hoping to avoid having people cancel Switch pre-orders.

@NEStalgia Yeah, they don't actually make these "amazing flight sticks" you speak of, never have.
