Re: Guide: Getting Started in Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle

Ratchet916

@Ichiban I'm normally not a fan of turn-based battles either, but something about this game just clicks with me. It's incredibly polished and the gameplay is very approachable for those unfamiliar with the genre. The difficulty certainly ramps up, but I think the game does a good job at preparing you for it. Also, as much as I hate to admit it, I'm really taking a liking to these ridiculous Rabbids...

Re: Video: See the Big Difference Between Monster Hunter XX on Switch and 3DS

Ratchet916

@SLIGEACH_EIRE As you stated, the graphical overhaul and engine are already done, and even though XX for 3DS never came out West there is something to remember... XX is just and expanded version of Generations, which would seem to imply that a LOT of localization is already done, minus the expanded content. So that means that all Capcom would have to do is localize half (obviously a guess) of a game and slap it onto a finished engine for the West? I don't know how that wouldn't happen, seems like they're just stalling to make us all salivate. Jokes on them, all it's doing is pissing people off and turning them off of the Capcom brand.

Re: R.B.I. Baseball 17 Steps Up To The Plate On Switch This September

Ratchet916

@amishpyrate Most of the review knocks seem to be about the outdated graphics and the fact that the game has been little more than a roster update for the last few years. If that's the case, I suspect Switch owners looking for baseball game action really won't mind at all since there's nothing else on the platform to compare it to.

Re: Video: Learn How to Access and Use the NicoNico App on Nintendo Switch

Ratchet916

@Moon @Flowerlark This is true, it's fully capable of supporting these services, I just think at this point it's a first world problem, like Flowerlark said. As far as a new iPhone not supporting streaming services, of coarse I would be pissed, but that's not something that will ever happen at this point. Anyway, Reggie has hinted a few times that the reason they're not in a hurry is because they're focusing all of their attention on games for the time being, pulling resources from games to focus on apps isn't a priority. Assuming that statement isn't without merit, I'm totally cool with that is all I'm really getting at. Either way, I'm sure these services will eventually come, but considering the Switch has only been in the wild for 4 months now, I'm actually pretty happy with the pace at which we're moving along.

I don't get why everyone is so sour about not having Netflix and YouTube on Switch yet. Just off the stop of my head, here are the devices I currently have that already support them:

iPhone
iPad
PC(x3)
PS4 Pro
LG Smart TV
New 3DS XL
Wii U
PS Vita
Nvidia Shield Tablet
Google Pixel C

Is anyone seriously going to be put off without ANOTHER streaming capable device?

Re: The Nintendo Switch Update for NBA Playgrounds is Now Live

Ratchet916

@Switch99 It appears to be very slightly upgraded resolution in handheld mode, but it's nowhere near native 720p. This is truly disappointing and points to just how horribly this game is optimized. They went as far as removing shadows, lowering texture resolution, and reducing lighting affects from other versions and they still can't get a measly 720p at 60fps in handheld mode?! Sorry, but I'm not buying into the whole "Switch is underpowred" crap on this one, plenty of other games manage to pull off far superior visuals along with high resolution and framerate, this is just lazy programming.

Having said that, the balance improvements to the game make it play a lot better, IMO, and the shot meter is a welcome addition. However, why on Earth would you have the meter pop up all the way down in the lower right corner? It would have made a lot more sense to have it pop up over the shooter when making a shot since that's where your eyes are already focused.

Re: The Nintendo Switch Update for NBA Playgrounds is Now Live

Ratchet916

@DrkBndr Okay, so my memory is ever so SLIGHTLY off, close to native, not native. Either way, I'm just assuming they took that off the table since they no longer mention it in the patch notes. I'll find out for sure when I get home later and play, I took lots of screenshots in handheld mode for the express purpose of comparing them once the patch was released. I'll report what I find later.

Re: The Nintendo Switch Update for NBA Playgrounds is Now Live

Ratchet916

Troubling, there's no mention in the patch notes about increasing resolution in handheld mode. Saber said on Twitter a while back that they would be increasing the handheld resolution from 540p to native 720p, I sure hope that made the cut, but I'm guessing not if they didn't mention it.

Re: Video: Let's See What Star Fox 2 Might Offer on the Super NES Classic Edition

Ratchet916

I might be on the fringe here, but I actually think the visuals and mechanics hold up surprisingly well. It's not just nostalgia for me, I recently finished another play through of Star Fox on my SNES last week, and I still find it to be an amazing game today.

Also, I think it's totally cool that a game that was supposed to be released 22 years ago is FINALLY going to be properly played for the first time and reviewed by modern reviewers.
