Re: Nintendo Download: 30th June (Europe)

RTT

@gcunit In Eu it's download only. That's why I'm considering getting it on Steam. For now I'm waiting for reviews.

Shaun videos are discounted. I know that videos aren't exactly popular on 3DS, but those are good clips. I hope the discount will get some attention to them and creators get some support.

Re: Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Treble Heading to the North American eShop This Week

RTT

@Eisenbolan I think they will not release the game as DSiWare. Keep in mind that the 3DS has limited memory alocated for DSiWare tittles. I'm not sure how much space they left for DSiwares on the system and how much memory takes a DS MD game. If the game exceed the limit, emulating is the other way. But we all know that Nintendo did not release an emulator for DS tittles on 3DS.

Of course, they could release the game as a standalone retail tittle on eShop, but as far as I know, none of the DS retail tittles were released that way, while not being labelled as DSiWare.

Re: Crash Bandicoot Will Be Playable in the Wii U Port of Skylanders Imaginators

RTT

@AlexSora89 Hey, thanks! Unfortunately, I don't own Wii U and I can't play Mario Maker.

@Action51 The era was filled with cutesy mascots and I can't see anything wrong with it. Nowadays we have flood with gray and dirty manly soldiers, because that's what getting the most bites now.
But at least Crash's games used to be fantastic in gameplay and music, unlike the other more obnoxious character and his games. Btw, ND stood against the Universal marketing people - the very same kind you mentioned in the earlier post - and defended the name of their platformer.

Crash, Spyro and even Robbit are definitve icons for early 3D platformers, no matter how you dislike the Crash's design and the early 'trillogy'. Those provided a great alternative for action platformers and along with Croc, BK and even Mario did their job well done and delivered lots of joy, for all people with different platforming tastes. Each to their own.

@SLIGEACH_EIRE Thanks! Reverse search shown very little sites with the image, although all of them have other official artwork released for Crash. I hope the actual figure will maintan at least half of the quality of the preview.

@samuelvictor Keep in mind that the rights to Crash Bandicoot are holded by Activision, and this sure block the possible releases.
I would prefer play the remasters (and that only happened thanks to the "partnership between the company [Sony] and Activision") than play another ruined classic game with gimicky gimicks or better - playing a game with a childhood character who is not even being the main character anymore.
If it ain't Naughty Dog then there's no good Crash.

Re: Gallery: Take a Closer Look at the Pokémon Sun and Moon Legendary Pokémon, Rotom Pokédex and More

RTT

@Frank90 As for me gen 5 was the reboot that the series needed. And the games were also harder due to the changes in exp gaining formula.
Beating White left me with the feeling that I beat a game. A normal, compelling video game. There was an accomplishment. Beating other pokemon games is like: "meh. At least I can at last transfer my livedex now".
My guess is that they returned to the proven formula after fans backslashed gen 5.
...Aaaand they probably had to cut out lot of content from the games due to the time restrictions.

@SLIGEACH_EIRE I think after the website update they removed the price (and amount of free space on your device's storage nedeed) from their review pages. Just if you ever had a problem to find the price, click on the Overview tab

Re: Gallery: Take a Closer Look at the Pokémon Sun and Moon Legendary Pokémon, Rotom Pokédex and More

RTT

@Detective_TeeJay Pokemon was not always a full light heartheat and happy adventure. The monsters were killed for money, hunted and eaten, used as tools in wars, kept in cages and sold as prizes in gambling games. And don't forget about genetic experiments on pokemon foetuses. People also seemed to act more like a tamers, handling their pokemon with whips.
I'm not saying the games need such themes, but keep in mind the games had dark vibes from the beginning.

And also to @Frank90 I wouldn't mind the perfect happy world that much if the story would be more engaging. Give me all the sunshine and rainbows, just don't repeat the same plot for 20 years, don't make the story silly and make humans act like actual humans. Just because something is aimed to kids doesn't mean it have to be infantile. E/PG rated game is not an exuse for a dumb plot.

Re: Gallery: Take a Closer Look at the Pokémon Sun and Moon Legendary Pokémon, Rotom Pokédex and More

RTT

@Evenmoresteven I doubt it. GF still didn't fix the 3D issue and judging from the gameplay they edited the same engine (again). That's why I think the free camera movement will not be an option. We will get more "floating camera shots", but it won't be controlable - they have to hide the empty, non rendered stuff behind the camera. I just hope the battles won't lag anymore and that even multi battles will have 3D effect implemented (and the said 3D effect will finaly look good).

@Frank90 They are creating this utopia-like world for a while. With each game iteration it is harder to feel connected and immersed in the word where everyone is happy, everything is available, everything is so nice and cosy etc. The only real problem they have are random evil teams that keep appearing for some reason, wanting to destroy the region/world and only 10yo can stop them. Maybe that's the problem you have?

Re: Gallery: Take a Closer Look at the Pokémon Sun and Moon Legendary Pokémon, Rotom Pokédex and More

RTT

I devoured all the info and... It's okay.
A bit disapointed with Lunala's typing and Ability, Solgaleo gained appreciation in my eyes, I'm curious about that pokedex and I'm afraid the region may be a bit small. I'm curious if the pokedex QR codes will be the same as in Pokedex 3D pro. That cyan thing behind the HP/status bar in battle - I hope it is a placeholder... The game looks good for a pokemon game but I don't expect it to be revolutionary.

Aaaand of course 7.8/10 - too much water

Re: Talking Point: The Online Reaction to Teddy Together Shows Why Nintendo Needs To Target Kids More Directly

RTT

Teddy looks like a really lovable game for little kids. But I'm afraid that in Europe, it won't sell well... Only 5 languages and kids often can't speak foregin language - parents will skip this one (not to mention it require not-so popular and also a bit expensive system just for the kid to have an interactive toy. Phones are much useful now!).
I can understand why people are joking about it but there are also younger players out there! I think it's a great app for younger audiences! But I admit it - kids prefer cell phones/tablets, older kids want CoD and Teddy... in current times it would be better for the bear to appear on mobiles...

Re: Nintendo Download: 26th May (Europe)

Do... Do I see discounts on EO games??? Permanent discounts? My godness, the day has come. Gotta tell people around here, I know someone who's been waiting for a long while for a discount to happen.

Re: Distribution Details Emerge for Mythical Pokémon Darkrai

RTT

Codes? Prepare for one month of delay in some countries and code hoarding with mass re-selling. If we get lucky, someone will make a normal social media giveaway that won't brick the code redeeming page on 3DS for 24h.
Okay, it's not that bad if you have connections and know where to search. But wouldn't it be better if they make all of the events available online?

Re: Feature: How One Man Saved Kyoto - And Video Games - From The Atomic Bomb

RTT

Gotta dig the comments later. But for me the article is a trivia. May not be the best written but it is informative. I don't find it offensive and insensitive, it's more like "what if" article, with the autor trying to "sell" the topic. This is a video game website afterall and it's obvious the articles here will be related to video games. The autor connected not bombing Kyoto with Nintendo and that's all. Delicate topic, sure, but you can't deny the things would be different if the bomb hit Kyoto and the text expands that idea a little bit.

Re: Nintendo Download: 14th April (Europe)

RTT

Rubik's Cube...? That's an... unique idea, I guess? Seems like there aren't any screens from the game yet, when searching through Cypronia's site and Google. I will eagerously wait for the review.

Re: Talking Point: My Nintendo's Pros, Cons and Areas for Improvement

RTT

@Kevlar44 I can see how you are dissapointed with the program's flaws you mentioned and I can agree with some of them. But please have in mind for some people, this is way better option than having NO loyality program. This is at least better than paying the full price for a game with points inside only to realise you can't get anything with the points (unless you know someone from UK and pay for the shipping).

The program isn't perfect, and I didn't expected it to be, but it is better than like half of Europe had (or rather didn't have) before.

Re: Nintendo Is Ending DS Phat Repairs In Japan

RTT

@LemonSlice Ah, thank you for the info, this expand the possibilities. I may get an used Lite someday, just in case my Phat break. Or any of those two to have a system in reserves.
They have removed the feature starting from DSi. I guess they were afraid that kids will keep breaking the screens? Or perhaps they were saving the battery power? Nevertheless they never advertised this feature and eventualy they got rid of it.

I find the pressure on my system satisfying. Lacking, but satisfying for a small portable digital art device. And DS works even better on sunny weather.

Re: Nintendo Is Ending DS Phat Repairs In Japan

RTT

Hope they will still be repairing them in the West for some time. Those systems have pressure sensitive screens, trully a gem in the whole DS family. (DS Lite may have the screen as well but as I never had one I cannot be 100% sure).

Re: Nintendo's Gold Coin Prices Point the Way to Freebies

RTT

There should be some kind of bonus for those who bought games between the both programmes... The system knows our activities and it's easy to do. Not to mention those who never had any loyality program and all those stars/coins/whatever ended in trash, ended as a collector's item or was sold on Ebay/Amazon to countries that could use it.

Re: The Nintendo DSi Shop Shuts Down Next Year

RTT

The points were as rare to find in shops as finding a shiny 6 IV Ditto in the tall grass. Whenever you found the card, hiden behind some obscure PSP games, you grabbed it immediately, regardless how much it costed. Not sure if I have few spare points on my DSi but I had some RPGs in mind to purchase. But as long as they are on 3DS's eshop I'm all fine.
The downside of having DSiWare on 3DS eshop only is that, that not all of the apps are there and some cannot be re-downloaded, if I decide to remove them from the system. The limited memory room on 3DS for DSiware is sometimes painful but thankfuly we can store the games on SD cards.

Re: Tsunekazu Ishihara on the Difficulty of Naming Pokémon for Different Regions

RTT

Some Japanese names sounds good and some are quite... uninspiring (or they sound like that for us, for them "Fire" may have the distant "orient" feeling). Same goes for localised names. English localisation is a hard task, and it was even required as many japanese names would be too long in characters for our games [back then]. But they should remember that even the most clever name they come up with may not be understood by a kid. Especially by a kid that lives in a country where the series isn't translated to their language. And that still won't prevent the kid to enjoy traveling with the pokemon, even if the name sounds gibberish, being it Pikachu, Charmander or Hinoarashi.

Meaning they could as well keep some more cool sounding Japanese names for western people, not just saving them for legendaries and other few mascots.
