Re: Nintendo Confirms Switch Save Data Is Tied To The Console And Cannot Be Transferred

RTT

@shani to add to your reply to @Exy
I will just remind that Swapnote (Nintendo Letter Box in Eu) service was ultimately cancelled because of some nasty stuff people were sending. Every 3DS user was punished. Instead of banning the accounts in question (and send police where the law was broken).
Though the acts there were much worse than save editing - it basicaly sums up Nintendo's mentality.

Re: Nintendo Switch eShop Purchases Will Be Tied To Your Nintendo Account

RTT

@Blizzia @deKay
Another remote transfer experienced user, from usupported country. Long story short: we got faulty N3DS which broke after the guarantee expired. And we wanted get the purchases back. And here's how it looked like.
First, we contacted our local distributor. We were told that we should go the shop which sold that 3DS instead. Yeah, surely calling a shop, with no guarantee, will help.
Next step was Nintendo. A call (another country) obviously would cost money (at the time we were short of it), so we chose to use the support email. They never responded to our email in the past, but what else we could do?
After few days, we got the reply, which stated that we should contact the local distributor because they don't support our country.
So we emailed the distributor (again!) and waited about a week with no reply. After that time, I wrote a message via Facebook (!). And FINALLY someone responded... The Facebook guy told us, that they didn't get the email (great job guys), and asked to send it again.
So we did. And then, the distributor called Nintendo, to ask for the remote NNID transfer. And THEN, we could get the account back. All of this, it took about 3 weeks.
The cherry on the top was getting another reply to our initial email from Nintendo support, few days after the hassle. They asked for the account details. Because they somehow changed their mind and decided to help us, despite what they said in their first reply. Thanks, guys, but you are 3 weeks late.

I'm telling you, it was the most customer unfriendly experience I have ever had. 3 weeks of waiting and nerves, for what should take 5 days at max. And what I found even more insulting, is that USA Nintendo webpage has a survey where you can type the details for the remote NNID transfer. It's hidden and criptic, but it was there. Meanwhile, Europe doesn't get that privilege. Not to mention the countries where Nintendo isn't popular - there is no adequate support webpage at all.
Seriously, the reason why there aren't many complaints from those countries (aside from tiny Nintendo base), is that it's much easier and simplier to buy another system and forget about the broken one.

And yeah, all saves are gone too (obviously), so be aware if you have a big retail/rpg game downloaded.
Streetpass Plaza (keep in mind that getting a streetpass here is a miracle) with every puzzle and Mii, Badges from Badge Arcade (not only you wasted money on a low jpg quality badge, but now you lost it), Friend List, and various software that you cannot download anymore - all gone.

Re: Brace Yourself, The Biggest Pokémon GO Update Yet Is Coming This Week

RTT

@DanteSolablood I live in a city with ~750k citizents, with tons of architectural and ancient monuments, quite a cultural centre filled with universities. The farest I have to go, is the city centre. Going anywhere in the oposite direction equals less and less spawns and spots. Unless I travel to the capital (which is about 300km from here), I have no other equaly large and dense city near me.
Central Europe isn't exactly the most supported region, being it Pokemon GO or Nintendo
Thanks for you concern, though!

Re: Brace Yourself, The Biggest Pokémon GO Update Yet Is Coming This Week

RTT

Though, I'm a bit worried. Still haven't finished Kanto dex yet (like seriously, Grimer, Vulpix, does not exist here, not to mention the pokes that need 150 candies to evolve).

How the spawn rate will be influenced? How hatchlings will be generated? Will they reduce Pidgeys in favor of gen 2, or worse, will they make everything harder to find and catch (more 'mons = less chance to find/hatch something worthy)?

And with those changes, how much longer will I need to play, just to complete Kanto?

Re: Review: Picross e7 (3DS eShop)

RTT

Well, you pay for what you get. It's Picross.

I wouldn't expect fancy paper and amazing print quality with pop-out objects from a crossword you can buy in shops. The same way I don't expect creative approach from Picross.

I mean I cannot even think how could you add more creativity here.
Any facy graphics and animations would get into the way. Backstory and plot is the least what I want from a Picross game. More modes could work, but you pay for Picross, not for ZombieModecross or Tetriscross. And if I wanted a creative approach, I would get the 3D version or buy a similar puzzle game featuring more twists.

It's exactly what you get - a Picross game.
Still, 7/10 is a solid score.

Re: Amazon UK Offers Nintendo Switch Downloads, Cost More Than Boxed Equivalents

RTT

I'm thinking. Maybe it's because N's stuff is so rare in some countries (like Holy Grail rare). The only way to get the games - if you don't know how to internet - is by going full digital.
And if that's your only option to get their games - why not overprice them a bit? I mean that part of the customre base doesn't have a choice, right?

Re: Amazon UK Offers Nintendo Switch Downloads, Cost More Than Boxed Equivalents

RTT

"We think that digital games have the same value as retail" - or something like that, was their reasoning back then.
Yea, digital software need no physical storage, no printing, no boxing, no shipping, no handling. All of these - gone. Meaning they save a lot of moolah if they keep the prices like that.

I mean, I don't understand. It's a digital game. They should make them more affordable for everyone. They should tempt you to buy these games - even if you may loose the saves or the whole game file someday.

That Nintendo Selects they have in their eShop? I can buy boxed new copies cheaper than that, thank you. And my saves and data will last longer in a card than on the system.
And I have the possibility to sell the games, if an emergency happen. Sometimes even with benefits, as some retails gain more value after some time.

Re: Nintendo Download: 9th February (Europe)

RTT

@Kimite Yeah, I'm just waiting for a My Nintendo Platinum Coin discount or something. I just want more ink, because as for now, it empties way to fast than it should. I don't feel like throwing my cash for a digital color in an app that may be as well not supported in a year.
Especially if I'm not sure if I can get the purchases back - Badge Arcade for example won't return the badges if your system is broke and you have to do the remote System Transfer.

Yes, last time when I saw it, each pack contains the basic colors. At least you can choose the cheapest option to get them.
They won't raise your note limit to 3000 though... Nor expand your ink limit.

Re: Nintendo Download: 9th February (Europe)

RTT

@Kimite There is a reason why they turned the free app into a microtransaction service.

People want an app working at its fullest. And by restricting the app, you make people annoyed. And hence, people are more eager to pay, to unlock all the features.
On top of that, if you spice that with your popular IPs, people will think it's a great deal.
Add to this badge usage, and now you have a small money making machine (your clients spends money in Badge Arcade as well).

Currently the app has hidden microtransactions in their DLC.
DLC are the tracing lessons and premium brushes. Microtransactions are the basic features, without which the app is quite barebones and limited.
Obviously, it would be easier and nicer if we just could buy the ink and the base colors for the smaller price (without the lessons). But then, clients who just want to enchance the app will not buy any DLC - after all, they got their elementar brush pack and ink already.

Combining both into one DLC pack was a smart move.
Why? Because if a client wants to expand the app, he will have to pay more for the digital colors. And if he just wants the lessons, he think that he's getting the basic features for free.
And what's even better, the client is more eager to pay for a pack with less features, if it has the popular IPs. Hence - you can charge even more for your popular packs.
Sure, some will turn away seeing this. But seeing how Nintendo doesn't discount the prices in this app, I guess people are still eagery buying those packs, regardless of the price and content.

Re: Nintendo Download: 9th February (Europe)

RTT

@Kimite I don't think they'll do that. Well, maybe after they stop supporting 3DS and turn off its online features.

I mean, they purposely put the basic -once available for free- features behind a DLC. Why would they retreat from that decision now?

Re: Nintendo Will Replace Your Dead Switch Battery, At A Cost

RTT

@Baker1000 as @hYdeks said, that's the difference. Purchasing a battery is easier and cheaper than calling for the service, sending the device somewhere else and wait untill you get it back.

Note, that many countries don't have any official support. They have to ship it outside the country (and you pay for the international call, ofc). It wouldn't be that a deal if you could just walk to a store and get it replaced in no time.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Will Not Feature HD Rumble

RTT

@Baker1000 On my side, I don't feel the need for Swtich. I have better things on PS4 (which I don't have) to play, than Switch can offer. Hence, I'm choosing PS4 as my next system.
I don't mind waiting. Few months doesn't bother me at all. After all, I've been waiting for long years for a game or a system so often, that I don't see this as a negative.
And I don't feel the rush to buy BotW immediately either. I have other games that will keep me entertained for the next few months, if not years. Better finish those first.
The only thing that would convince me to get Switch faster, would be Pokemon games... Which won't appear that soon anyway. The rest, except for Zelda, doesn't look interesting.

Each to their own, I guess.

Re: Nintendo Download: 26th January (Europe)

RTT

@Rei It is the opposite. You can manipulate the EXP to get the deserved Nature. I did a quick search out of curiousity and found this guide: https://daily.pokecommunity.com/2017/01/25/pokemon-stats-red-blue-yellow-recalculated/
Seems like the two digit rumour was false. Instead, it is a formula to calculate, and to predict, the Nature of your 'mon. Either way, people are confirming that you can get whatever Nature you want.

Keep in mind that influencing the Stat Experience worked differently in 1-2 gen, EV training you are familiar with did not exist, and IVs (DVs) had maximum value 15 (instead of 31).
If you are interested in the topic, I recommend reading a Bulbapedia or Serebii articles about DV, IV, EV and Stat Experience

Re: Nintendo Download: 26th January (Europe)

RTT

@AlexSora89 Hey! In fact, I saw the log yesterday, almost live as you posted it Thanks for heads up.

@Rei I heard the last two digits of the experience influences the nature. Didn't checked it tho.
The EVs makes sense actually. The way how the Stat Experience in gen 1-2 worked, would produce a broken modern pokemon. To simplify, you could max out each stat. That would translate to around 1530 EVs total (all 6 stats maxed), nowadays (instead of 510).

You either cut this down/randomize (this would need additional calculations to be programmed) or just ignore the stat experience.

Since battling scene experienced huge changes during those 20 years, you most likely want the EV resetted anyway. Besides, it's way way easier and faster to EV train in modern games.

Re: Pokémon Bank Update Adds Support for Pokémon Sun & Moon

RTT

@NickOfTime90 Well it is a ride:
You need a 'phat' NDS for the first transfer (it has GBA slot). When you are far enough, you access Pal Park in gen 4, where you can move 6 pokes from GBA in a catching game.

Then, you need another DS/3DS system with BW. At the end of the game you find a lab which uses Poke Transfer. By using Download Play, you move 6 pokes from gen 4 to 5th. You re-obtain them in a shooting game.

Finally, you place your pokes to the first box in BW games. You put the cart into 3DS where you have Poke Transporter and Poke Bank downloaded. By using the Transporter you remove your pokes from BW into Transport Box.

And then, from Poke Bank, you can move them to your ORAS/XY/SuMo!

Re: Pokémon Bank Update Adds Support for Pokémon Sun & Moon

RTT

@nhSnork National Dex never needed Event pokemon to become completed. Pokemon Bank now serves as National Dex. I belive that Japanese event Mew and UK Mew will be transferable.

@RainbowGazelle I can hardly call spedning ~200bucks on a second system (and a some sort of trading device before Wireless became common) a free service.
Not to mention annoying minigames and a transfer limit.

Re: Pokémon Bank Update Adds Support for Pokémon Sun & Moon

RTT

@DanteSolablood Those games have a really convoluted and not so well written code (that's why RGBY are glitch infested games), written in assembly language. I bet no one even dared look inside (separately for every language version) because 1. it would be too costy and b. the game may as well break up.
Or... from marketing side: they wanted to provide the realistic experience
I'm fine with glitched Mew being banned, although I would like to get some kind of easter egg with MissingNo. xD

Re: Nintendo Download: 26th January (Europe)

RTT

@Rei @AlexSora89 The bank is released now (I guess you'll see that on the front page but whatever).
1-2 gen 'IVs' differs from the modern IV. I was curious how the thing will work but they went with easy way: random stats assigned to the Kanto 'mons. It's more like a recreating the pokemon rather transfering... But that GB mark is hot!
