@AlexSora89 Not sure if you knew about that but Flipnote Studio 3D came out in the West like a year ago (well, we had waited for few years, but it's here now). And it's available to download from My Nintendo again.
@Anti-Matter Of course not. You keep your account and games purchased even if you don't pay for a year or two. It isn't required for you to play games - but if you want online multiplayer (say, Splatoon) then you ought to pay. There shouldn't be a problem getting the online features back too. Just pay again and now you can play your Splatoon with friends.
@Anti-Matter AFAIK the price was not announced, but I guess it will be few bucks per month. If you don't pay, they will cut off the online features mentioned in the link posted by @Lord I'm guessing the free VC games you get each month will become unplayable (unless you buy them) and you will miss the discounts.
Sounds more like an advert for me. I mean, isn't it obvious they will do a pokemon game for Switch? And that would be a lazy half-port of a pokemon game, I belive...
@jaxrogers2 I own GB Tetris on VC, but it would be a bummer if my 3DS kicked the bucked before the system transfer. This is my favourite version of the game, as I dislike the colors (same goes with Dr Mario, haha) on other versions and releases.
I do have a game that I purchased and cannot download it since the introduction of NNID, Link's Awakening, German version. I know it is available in eShop, but NNID locked me in just one country, a country which doesn't even get any localisation so all the games are in English anyway... Sigh. Money wasted.
But I don't think I would have a need to use any exploits to re-download or re-purchase those games. I have Zelda in English on 3DS and... Brick Games for BW Tetris xD The rest don't interest me and... I think I may have 4 swords on DSi?
Edit: Oh, and by obscure and old games I meant something like Crazy Frog Collectables: Art School or Bölz!.
@123akis I often try games before purchasing them. If there's no demo around, how else I can know if it is worth my time? If I don't like it, I just delete it. If it is good, I buy it.
I think most of the entertainment have some kind of preview - music, movies and books... and games should have them especially (as demos). Buying something blindly because a review said it is good, often ended in regret.
I keep only obscure or old games which you cannot buy anymore. They aren't sold anymore, you may not even find them at second hand shops/pawn shops.
But I understand the controversy around the topic. I do not approve piracy, personaly.
@Anti-Matter I think those could be some bootleged hacked Chinase games... And they usually are indeed not worth playing (maybe for lulz and gigglez). Those are the worst and I've been experiencing them them from my child age... What's worse, they are intended to be sold and gain profit - ripping off the original and/or ruining the mark. ...And I'm not a fan of romhacks and mods, most of the time, unless it's official. Even if it's like the only way to play a game in physical form, that has not left Japan (Telefang for example). Yet, just to point this out, some fan made hacks can deliver greater experience than the original game. And I guess that's the point why fans are doing these: to provide even more experience to fans.
@jimi Making a backup is no pirating. Sharing the backup, however, is piracy. That's the difference.
Also, I guess I'm one of the 0,01% who use emulation as a way to preserve the ancient games on discontinued hardwares, even though I do own some of the old cards and more modern CDs myself.
Because you do know that someday, all of your systems will break, along with all the physical media you have your originaly purchased games on, right? Unless someone officialy release it digitaly, you gonna loose all the abandonware that were once working.
Btw, pirating Pokemon Crystal is not equal to pirating Pokemon Red. By that logic, people who pirates SuMo pirates every other pokemon game ever released... Heck, you may as well add all the pokemon spin offs to the batch, or any other turn based top view jRPG because it's the same idea. How did you even come up with this?
I mean, obviously when you make a free fan game, using a ROM and someone's IP, you can expect lawsuits sooner or later, depending on the owner attitude towards such actions; and trying to monetize the game will bring a disaster on you for sure.
But sir! What you are saying is clutching at straws to win an argument.
Looks like an uncomfortable piece of plastic that flashes... Reminds me of those weird bootleg-like, also flashy, Beyblade's discs, with all that expensive outside, but cheap insides.
@TheFancySquid Or rather: oversaturation of pokemon games on 3DS and also Pokemon GO success and the anniversary thing with its own advertisements, forced them to scrap Z entirely and move to a new gen. New gen generates bigger hype, and goes well with 20th anniversary with Alolan forms.
@NintendoVideoGa Yeah, I don't think the animators have any decision when it comes to the pokemon choice. Games are the force here, and the source of money, while anime is the advertisement (that became a separate product). What I meant is, either the game & 'mons designers think ahead about the upcoming movies (and make the movie crew's work easier) or not (and the movie crew makes up their own random plot, upon TPC approval). I hope I explained the two options better now.
Btw, just to clear it up, the IP is owned by GF, Creatures and Nintendo. TPC (made by the three in 1998) just manages the brand and merchendises it, this includes the anime. TV Tokyo is responsible for screening the episodes, and Toho is responsible for distributing the movies (fun fact: some pokemon use their kaijū cries ). AFAIK, studio that produces ep/movies is OLM. That of course doesn't change your reasoning of the ep/movie producers getting the same short end of the stick, being under TPC jurisdiction. There's a lot of money flowing and everyone wants to bite some ;]
The Ho-Oh dilemma you mentioned is interesting. Is it possible to find the article somewhere?
Ah yes! I have strong belive that what we got is a badly made port of a Switch game (the rumoured Stars), a future Switch game that is downgraded because you have to make some cuts if you want a game to run on different platforms.
6th gen has shown us bad optimization already (well! The first gen isn't a gem either with its messy code!) but 7th's battle lags and FPS drops, no 3D, removed features, no camera movement etc etc just screams "we didn't optimize it!". Prettier or not, I'm not impressed with SuMo, especially when comparing to games like Monster Hunter, which even o3DS can handle.
Yes, that's what I talked about, but I didn't want to spoil it to you (unsure what you have seen so far in game). Just lose 16 fights and done (unless you have lv 50 'mons already, then try to win!).
On the 3rd island, there is a path with bird pokemon attacking you from the trees (also, the stupiest, besides Stoutlant guy, reason to block you by a NPC). There, randomly & once per day, berries will spawn. Gather them, each day, until you have all 6 (SR berries may work tho!). In the meantime plant them at Pelago. Pelago may look like a cheap mobile app test (there's no IAP yet, hehe), but it is actually useful if you develop it fully. Hope that helps!
@Rei Wait what? Was you replying to me? What memory problem?
EV can be adjusted with some facilities at Festival Plaza (each facility is given to you by random), you can also remove your EVs with those facilities and, like usual, use berries. Poke Pelago supposely can EV train your pokemon but... I used it to hatch eggs and hoard berries and evo stones only :U
Early in the game you get an opportunity to grind for a EV ehancing item (bands, lenses...).
@Kalmaro The Zoroark one was one of the better movies, but I don't place it very high on my personal list I found Lucario and Lati@s movies very nice though, Volcanion movie has some nice animation and I liked the character of the pokemon with kinda Beauty and the Beast vibe.
@XxYoshiGamerxX I think that's the most original thing they made in movie department in a while...
I mean how your typical pokemon movie looks like?
A talking legendary/cool pokemon and a bad guy trying to steal/use/kill it or do that to whatever else that is related to the said legendary, in a sci-fi, or fantasy, or medieval, or steampunk settings that has nothing to do with the games, nor with the existing world within the anime canon itself, also featuring side, usualy bland and predictable, characters that we will never see nor hear about ever again (bare the credits, if we are lucky), and which also has no revelance to the games and anime world what so ever.
Add to this exposition times, because they think the audience isn't too bright to realise the reasons behind the characters, some goofy scenes because kids, and pokemon tears deus ex once in a while.
Now, multiply this by 20 years and you get like 19 movies that each one is more ridiculous than the pevious one, most of the time...
Seriously, I would rather watch that scrapped T. rex ressurection idea with real animals living in the world, or that pokemon riot against human kind, with Pikachu fighting Ash... As odd as those two sounds, those are original ideas in this context...
And remaking a first ep may be also the freshest movie idea in a while. And a good cash in. If they do it right, of course.
Edit: Not saying that all of the poke movies are plain bad but... Tentacle Groudon engulfing monster that came to life because someone drew the pokemon on the ground and used some cosmic energy from a comet enchanced by Jirachi...? May that becomes mother to a pokemon in her mind...? flying Ash in a water-laser-beam tentacle, or Ash in space...? I have seen better reasonings in Godzilla movies :U
@Slaz Aww, that's sad to hear :/ DS had horrible connectivity settings...
Yes, it was called Dream World. And if you didn't experience it, here's a short summary: You put a pokemon asleep in the game and you could see it on PGL. If I remember correctly, depending of the Type of the pokemon you sent there, you could encounter/befriend different monsters. Later you caught them in-game (100% capture chance with any ball). Some areas you could visit were also event only. The little houses (few to choose, upgrade-able, and some were special), decorations and dolls (including event dolls like Mew, BWKyurem!) were really fun. And there was a social aspect in the whole thing (visiting the houses, trading items, watering berries or just showing off your doll collection), and sense of progress as you could unlock new things here and there. More minigames were keep being added (at higher pace than in gen 6 and all were playable). It worked really slow and had that cheap Flash quality, but it was okay at that time, if you ask me.
Sadly, every medal you got in gen 6 was lost now. And you cannot get all the medals in 5 gen anymore as well... And I think you need them if you want to upgrade your Trainer Card? Well, getting rid of the medals is a bummer for me, because with a little work the medal system could work similar to trophies or Steam achievements. I mean, obviously they wouldn't be THAT popular, but that's a nice thing to have regardless.
@SebTheGuy The game is poorly programmed, unfortunately, and would lag with the old Online System. They had to move it to a separate menu (Festival Plaza), otherwise 3DS would cried.
@Slaz Complain time: gen 5 PGL was the best iteration of it imo. You had those tiny secred bases-like homes with nice decorations and dolls and people were visiting you and keep watering your berries. You could catch some HA pokemon there and even Arceuses. The minigames were actual games that time. Unlike gen 6 where they removed the houses, added weak FB wannabe dashboard and the minigames were just RNG you could leave in idle and still win top notch prize at lowest score. Of course they had to include in-game achievements on the service as well - who does that? Keep them in game, otherwise they will be lost in few years. Or make one common account to show off those medals. But hey, at least we could upload our photos in gen 6 (like anyone cared, yeah)... But now? It's a barebones website that works as slow as in 2011. And in gen 7 the Game Sync is mandatory each time you connect online. That's enough hassle for me.
@Yorumi Just wanted to contribute here that I wholehearthly agree. Too much cringy worthly, baddly written and cheesy cutscenes. The story is better than an average pokemon game... But it lost all the potential with those stiff scenes and missed opportunites. I even think it could look better as a plain text, just like it was in the past - at least your imagination could add some spice to the characters, similary to reading a book... And you wouldn't have to look at your uncanny valley, always smiling Player Character.
Oh, don't forget hand holding! They put everything they got to make sure the player won't step anywhere outside the predefined path this time. Forcing player to "claim" each landmark flag and moving to a next island, just to explore freely the island you just left, left a bad taste. Also, there's no suspense nor suprise because you know what will happen when you reach the flag: another cutscene and/or battle.
And yeah, I wish you luck with the ending cutscenes & credits too
@nab1 [insert various suprised sounds], and the day has come? How did I miss it, how no one talked about it? The app is apparently not compatible with my device (that may have deceive me), but since it is available here, instaling an apk should be no problem, knowing it will recognize my region. Thanks for the info.
I still prefer hordes. 5 battles and all EVs maxed to 250 on one stat. Waiting for a poke to call for help is quite boring and not always works.
@MarcelRguez I wouldn't call it EV training back then and the formula was different but you are right. Pokemon training exists from the very beginning of the series. I find it weird that people get angry at some extra depth in poke-care. I mean, no one is forcing people to EV train their pokes.
@NoxAeturnus There is a fast way (probably fastest so far) to hatch an egg, but your thumb will get sore: call Tauros in that small area in front of the Nursery and dash in circles there. Hatched several Cyndaquils in suprisingly low time :U
@Megas Not sure if you are ironic or serious but... You do realise that with each new generation, people often have to breed and train the same pokemon again? As for me, I will just bring my max IV & EV & shiny teams and be happy with them in local battles. But if I wanted to participate in championships, I would find doing the same work again greatly redundant - especially with O-powers removed. This is one of the reasons why competetive people prefer to use online battle simluators to test their future teams. Regardless of what I said above, main story line of the pokemon is always incredible easy - and as of S&M it's a pinackle of hand holding. The game shine as a collectathon and it is great in competetive battling aspects tho.
@DragonEleven Out of curiousity, I searched some topics and it seems the status aliments greatly lowers the chance. Serebii says it should never happen while Asleep, however it happened to me and to few folks on the Internet with different conditions as well. I guess I'm just very unlucky...
@Joeynator3000 To not to being too spoilery... EV training works just like always but there are no 6-gen hordes, unfortunately. But... early in the game, wild pokemon start making horde-like replacement, which boosts EV gain and quality of IVs. You can also get EV-gaining items (bands) early in game (but they need some grinding)!
@MoonKnight7 @Luna_110 Got 9 Zubats here in a row. But I noticed they don't call for help that often if they are at full health. @DragonEleven In one battle a Wishiwashi called for help twice while being asleep before I managed to caught it.
@stegsaurus The software's electronic manual is underwhelming. Booklet always had this little story about your 10-or-so character, and it introduced some NPCs and items in a curious way.
@LeRaposa I still shall step in and remind about GSC being on different platforms. And I shall remind about 3DS bonuses in B2W2. Yet, I'm neutral on this topic.
@TeeJay A direct sequel is GSC. Bonus point as It was literaly called Pokemon 2 for a time. The second sequel is/are B2W2.
@Mopati It is all speculative. However, I should mention that Black & White were meant to get a Gray sequel. The story and fans curiousity made them overhaul the idea and create two different games. I call that the third version but released twice.
As for 6th gen 3rd version... I have a theory but it's not the time and place to talk about it. Either way, the existence of 7th gen's 3rd version is too speculative at this moment. It may be the usual enhanced 3rd version or something more overhauled and tweaked, worthly the double dip.
@Marakuto Yeah, I thought so. I own the dex and I see the models are quite the same in it and in the main games and in GO. No need for additional proof.
All of this i meaning that the hi-res model shown here is in fact their standard model "size" they work with, regardless in what game the model will appear.

Re: Nintendo Download: 26th January (Europe)
@AlexSora89 It costs 200 Platinum coins if I recall correctly. In European My Nintendo, that is.
Hey, I'm bitter and I like pokemon games. Combine those and you'll get some nice cynical comments
Edit: btw, Serebii says it has some info about Pokemon Bank. I know you are eager to transfer your Articuno so the wait may end soon.

Re: Nintendo Download: 19th January (Europe)
@AlexSora89 Knowing GF, it's still unfinished or quite buggy and I wouldn't be suprised if they delay it further :/
Edit: GTS needs an update as well, to follow the 7th gen poke variants.

I have waited waaay to long to post this comment...
Gen 2 baby we win yeah!
/so sorry not so sorry
Re: Nintendo Download: 15th December (Europe)
Demon's Crest... Maybe not this week but someday definitely.
Re: Here's the Magearna Pokémon Sun and Moon QR Code for North America
@Yorumi Good luck with your Dittos and battling then!
Re: Here's the Magearna Pokémon Sun and Moon QR Code for North America
And yeah, I wish you luck with the ending cutscenes & credits too
Re: Nintendo Is Looking For Hackers Who Can Discover 3DS Vulnerabilities
Sounds like a clever move. Fight hackers with hackers, aye?
Re: Nintendo Goes Christmas Crazy With Special Festive Miitomo Drop Stage
@nab1 [insert various suprised sounds], and the day has come? How did I miss it, how no one talked about it?
The app is apparently not compatible with my device (that may have deceive me), but since it is available here, instaling an apk should be no problem, knowing it will recognize my region. Thanks for the info.
Re: Rumour: Pokémon GO December Update Might Be A Gen 2 Monster Mash
@VIIIAxel A Pokemon GO article on NL without that person's comment about gen 1 would make the article incomplete ;]
Re: Guide: Getting To Grips With EV Training In Pokémon Sun And Moon
Re: The Race is on to Catch 100 Million Pokémon in Sun and Moon
@DragonEleven Out of curiousity, I searched some topics and it seems the status aliments greatly lowers the chance. Serebii says it should never happen while Asleep, however it happened to me and to few folks on the Internet with different conditions as well. I guess I'm just very unlucky...
Re: The Race is on to Catch 100 Million Pokémon in Sun and Moon
@Joeynator3000 To not to being too spoilery... EV training works just like always but there are no 6-gen hordes, unfortunately.
But... early in the game, wild pokemon start making horde-like replacement, which boosts EV gain and quality of IVs. You can also get EV-gaining items (bands) early in game (but they need some grinding)!
Re: The Race is on to Catch 100 Million Pokémon in Sun and Moon
@MoonKnight7 @Luna_110 Got 9 Zubats here in a row. But I noticed they don't call for help that often if they are at full health.
@DragonEleven In one battle a Wishiwashi called for help twice while being asleep before I managed to caught it.
Re: Guide: Getting Started In Pokémon Sun and Moon
@stegsaurus The software's electronic manual is underwhelming. Booklet always had this little story about your 10-or-so character, and it introduced some NPCs and items in a curious way.
Re: Guide: Getting Started In Pokémon Sun and Moon
How to get started in Soon/Moon: Be patient and try to survive to through the tutorials.
Re: Random: You Can High-Five Your Pokémon in Sun and Moon
@Sanangelo89 Europe gets the games on 23th November.
Re: Random: You Can High-Five Your Pokémon in Sun and Moon
@RealPoketendoNL Relax. This feature was implemented in gen 6th. It's nothing new or spoilery. And you can still try out the 800 'mons by yourself.
Re: A Single Pokémon Card Just Sold For Over $50,000 At Auction
Very nice. Although... I always wonder if the grade itself does not lie about the card.
Re: Random: You Can High-Five Your Pokémon in Sun and Moon
That was a feature in 6th gen as well. Few pokemon could do the high five.
Re: Niantic Says Thanks With Pokémon GO Double XP And Stardust Event
I have been saving my army of Pidgeys and Weedles just for that one single event.
They had to include it someday, it was a matter of time.
Re: Rumour: New Version of Pokémon Sun And Moon, Pokémon Stars, Is Coming to the Nintendo Switch
@LeRaposa I still shall step in and remind about GSC being on different platforms. And I shall remind about 3DS bonuses in B2W2. Yet, I'm neutral on this topic.
@HappyMaskedGuy I take it as an agreement.
Re: Rumour: New Version of Pokémon Sun And Moon, Pokémon Stars, Is Coming to the Nintendo Switch
Re: Rumour: New Version of Pokémon Sun And Moon, Pokémon Stars, Is Coming to the Nintendo Switch
@Marakuto Yeah, I thought so. I own the dex and I see the models are quite the same in it and in the main games and in GO. No need for additional proof.
All of this i meaning that the hi-res model shown here is in fact their standard model "size" they work with, regardless in what game the model will appear.
Re: Rumour: New Version of Pokémon Sun And Moon, Pokémon Stars, Is Coming to the Nintendo Switch
@LegendOfPokemon Pokemon Yellow and GSC are the examples for you. GB and GBC and only GBC support.
