Same number of sales with a tenfold larger instal base, given how the first game sold and second was received, won't be what the ubi execs predicted. Its had some deep sales too! I liked the demo for sparks of hope but there is always something I want to play ahead of it.
Banger year, no doubt. TOTK is probably my favourite game of all time, metroid prime remastered was so good and some banger games like Dave the diver and blasphemous 2 feel made for handheld. If its the switch's last full year of support, what a year!
I liked the dlc but I didn't love it the way I did the base game. The base game has one of the best final sequences and conclusions of any game, enjoy!
I mean if it means the odd xbox game came to Nintendo platforms, then cool. HI-FI rush and pentiment would probably work great on a switch, just like the Ori games.
I played a little bit on series x, the problem for me was the skill threshold is actually very high and the tutorial wasn't amazing. So as a new player, you just hit a murderers row of experienced players and got wiped. If the player base has dwindled, then I bet the people left are going to be awesome at the game and are going to love the noob harvest from switch.
It's my bday!! Hope someone gets me the standard switch edition! I've been wanting to play this game and handheld trumps performance for this title (for me).
Looks lovely but can't justify the upgrade. Now if with that shiny new oled screen you add hdr patches for existing titles and new 1st party releases, I'd maybe be tempted
Have to say, for me mario golf was dreadful. As someone who has much love for aces, I'm surprised Camelot didn't launch with an online tournament mode. Support will likely come but after the player base dwindles and adding extra modes just exacerbates the issue. Already traded my copy in. Its selling plenty whatever so nintendo clearly don't care but if any other publisher put that game out they would be slayed
Nostalgia will always hold back people from comparing what we have now with what we had in the past. Our memories of playing games are tied in to our experiences at the time in our lives when we played them. I remember, vividly still how much of a big deal getting a 70 quid Street fighter 2 and same again for an essential 6 button controller was as a kid at Christmas, or the ps1 with the change to polygons, the n64 with my first experience of a multiplayer fps (goldeneye) and mariokart and the endless games of pes3 at uni so favourably because a) they were novel experiences that were so radically different to anything that had gone before and b) they were at a time of my life where there was time and space to appreciate them. Objectively, what we have now in terms of quality available on all three platforms not only from the big AAA studios but from indie publishers is truly amazing and has no parallel. It's just a shame that there are also no parallels for all the live service, loot box, mtx filled garbage either.
I used to log in with my daughter every week or two after the initial burst of getting the island set up. Things have very much slowed down though, to the point my young daughter said "isabelle never says there is anything new anymore". I've had my value from it but it could be so much more. Hell, even if you could have multiple islands on a switch it would be a huge step.
People don't want a switch pro, when you really boil it down people are either fine with the current sku for a bit longer, or want a switch 2 with backwards compatibility. I love nintendo 1st party output but it's unlikely botw 2 or something that big locks out the og switch install base. No upgrade for me. Tbh, since I've got my series x and ps5, the amount of playtime on my switch has dropped dramatically. What happened to consolidation of handheld and home gaming increasing software output?! Where is bayonetta 3 or metroid? Never mind hardware, get on the case with software!
I preordered and will stash aside for my daughters Christmas, she loves odyssey and some of my best gaming memories ever are playing coop with her. Letsa go!
@Octane exactly!!the queue of folk saying "strange but ill buy this is" extremely large. Must have been exactly what the sales team hoped for, nintendo fomo 😂😂 I might join the queue tho.....
I just payid 7 quid for doom 2016 on ps4. My preference would have been for gyro aiming but these deals aren't really deals. Feels like indie game prices between the two platforms get much closer than AAA games. Asking for 50 quid for doom in 2020 is madness.
I get so fed up of the comparison to Mario aces! Mario aces launched with a clear 12 month support window from the get go. There has never been any mention ever of post launch support for Mario Party. Unless you preordered you knew there was only 4 boards. Also the game just isn't that good to warrant it!! Played it with both family and friends, neither felt it. First and probably last mario party game.
Switch would have probably been the only console I would have bought this on. I had great times on 1 and 2 back on the day but am I going to use my time on big screen in the house for this over the last of us 2 or ghosts of tsushima?? EA has really missed the point with the switch, people need to lean into second screen games, games you can play a bit while something else is on the tv.
I'm starting to think the matrix movies stating that human civilisation peaked at the turn of the 21st century, following which everything went downhill had a point.........
Hopefully some time for animal crossing! My first AC game and really enjoying the chill factor. Just upgraded resident services and have about 5 villagers. Never done any AC online so might try and give it a shot later and open the gates to the big, bad world!
Selling for £200 in uk, thought about buying one at 90 a couple of weeks ago whilst in lockdown for my daughter but couldn't justify it. Tricky for Nintendo as their capacity to manufacture is diminished but they could make a fair bit of cash if they could get stock out there. I bust out the wii fit board in the mean time and shes loving the yoga.
Its poor compared with plus, yes its cheaper but you dont get v much for your cash. Cloud saves dont even cover all first party games. N64 - wii games please as well as the odd decent indie.
@OorWullie cheers for the heads up but I thin I'm going to give it a bash anyway, got some eshop points and some low expectations but just in the mood of that mayhem!
I've only got one kid damo but this article captures most of the reasons why I bought a switch! My time on the big tv with ps4 is limited so switch is my indie and Nintendo first party go to. I couldn't care less about trophies, has no bearing on my choice. I picked switch versions of LA Noir, okami, skyrim and civ6 ahead of other platforms. I'll be picking Wolfenstein 2, dragon quest xi, maybe dragons dogma, call of juarez and unless it's a mess, outer worlds on switch. Also gyroscope aiming is amazing and should be an option on other consoles
I thought maybe 20-30 quid but console price for inanimate plastic?! I mean they are gorgeous and it's a brilliant game but if your buying that, it can only be because moneys no object to you.
Vast majority of comments suggest people dont want a switch pro, they want a switch 2. I dont think there will be a pro but I expect the switch 2 to be announced in 2021 to try keep up with ps5/next box
Gorogoa is very good, I played on phone but the touchscreen on the switch would be the way forward. Will have to try gone home, I enjoyed firewatch and edith finch.
I wait and if it is, cool, if it's a crap port it will be £20 on ps4 by then. I'm only playing portal, sleeping dogs and bastion for the first time just now, I think I'm patient enough to wait until 2020 for this!
@Agramonte agree that cross-save would be ideal! Have to say there is a shed load of ps3 owners last gen who wouldn't have played 2 with it being xbox360/pc only who would be in the same boat. Your remote play set up is great, my iPad is too old to support and waiting to test out the new android version from recent update. It's the only way I'm going to get through persona 5!
@Agramonte kotaku did a pretty decent catch up for those new to the series and things you might want to consider when selecting choices you made for witcher 2. I played on base ps4 without playin 1 or 2 and I enjoyed it. Though I thought Toussaint challenged it big time technically. Still to go to the continent while on the bus or while the missus watches the tv is surely a technical marvel?
I bought this from argos ages ago but havent started as I've been waiting to see if dlc was released. I don't know whether to be excited or scared, I played the civ 1 mobile version more than I ever would like to admit!!

Re: Talking Point: What Was The Best Switch Moment Of 2023?
Finding a sky island shrouded in cloud while exploring in totk and following the puzzle after. Amazing, I bloody love that game!!
Re: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Wins Another 'Game Of The Year' Award
Hell of a year for puzzle games!! 3 puzzle games on that list and Viewfinder or talos principle 2 didn't make it but are pretty well regarded.

Re: UK Charts: Bayonetta 3 Takes The Bronze In A Strong Week For Nintendo
@nathatruc it's not though, as you can sell your disc in a second hand market place but you can't sell your code in the box once you have used it.
Re: Game Boy-Inspired Metroidvania 'Haiku The Robot' Gets September Switch Date
Looks like a less polished version of hollow knight tbh.
