Re: Goodboy Galaxy Developer Dramatically Cuts Ties With Physical Distributor

Pipulitoch

@GOmar My take on (some) of these companies
Limited Run: great to absolutely not great. Whale chasers. Inconsistant as f, but they have always honoured orders. I don't like that they're getting bigger and bigger. At all.
Strictly limited games: a mess, but they aren't thieves.
Superrare: very good policy of selling games in hand instead of promises. Good Customer Service. A few foam practices here and there.
1 print games: they are still alive, apparently. Nice editions. But takes too long to manufacture.
1st print game: absolutely nothing positive to say about them
B-side: good while it lasted.
Game Fairy: re-born, one of those selling goodies that no one asked instead of standard copies, like Abylight from Spain.
Pix'N Love: their graphic designers are top tier. the rest is very questionable.
NGDEV: had an issue solved in a very unpractical way. Nice games.
Fangamer: they don't belong here. I have nothing but praise for them. Lovely editions, they print on demand; no FOMO. Great. plus, they opened an EU store
on the other hand..
Iam8bit: awful practices, awful shipping policies. Game lost; get lost.
Hypergun store (Nicalis): can't say nice things about TR.
Premium Edition: I only buy from VGP. On the "takes too much time" side, but they make nice editions
Ultracollectors: OKish
Pixelheart: good. Some good vintage stuff sold as well.
VBlank: had no issues with them.
Special reserve games: gorgeous editions.
RedArt games: great, but they release one game per minute; Lost track.
Dispatch Games: Next!
Warned collectors: I hope you had diarrhoea with the contaminated Margarita you hopefully had with my money.

probably missing a few.

Re: Talking Point: With 'Switch 2' Coming, Will Switch Get A Price Cut?

Pipulitoch

@splatoonaddict Well, 3ds was a different product, but the 2ds remained as an affordable option with an impressive library of games for those who couldn't afford the new and expensive Switch. I'm a father, if my son wants a nintendo, I will not buy a Switch 2, I will probably buy a lite. Handhelds are great for kids. Lite should stay several years to supple that demand. But that could only work with a price drop.

Re: Talking Point: With 'Switch 2' Coming, Will Switch Get A Price Cut?

Pipulitoch

It will, IMO, after Switch 2's announcement that might occur in January.
I believe Switch and Switch 2 will coexist for a couple of years. Switch will remain as a viable and affordable option for parents and some 2nd world countries for which Switch is still a luxury item (since it never got a real price cut)
Some first party will probably come out for both consoles, like ps4-5.
Switch should be sold at 180, LITE at 99. That price cut will make Switch 2 look more appetising.

Re: My Nintendo Store Reveals Donkey Kong Country Returns HD Pre-Order Bonuses & Bundle (UK)

Pipulitoch

@FlyingDunsparce The games you're referring to, they do cost 45 EUR on release day. At least in FR, you can find these prices sold by shops that generally offer no preorder bonus. Other sites, or shops, like Micromania, Nintendo or fnac, price is 59 sold with "free" preorder bonuses. and "free" shipping I don't know where you live, but in FR you have these options. I used to live in DE, and 3 days after launch date, for some 1st party games, price dropped already from 59 to 49 or 44.

Re: Yakuza Kiwami Dev Confirms Physical Switch Release, Limited Run Distributing

Pipulitoch

I'm tired of paying international shipping and Import tax for stuff that I would buy in a regular and normal shop.
At least, this pretty much confirms they will pay for the big carts, and put the full game in it. Otherwise, business will collapse. The only thing we can expect from them is having the full game on cart. I know that Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP might need a patch, and not I'm not entirely sure all games are 100% complete, but we would have never, ever got a game like Doom Eternal physically (the proper way) if it hadn't been sold by them.
That's the ONLY good side.

Re: New TMNT: Shredder's Revenge Collector's Edition Comes Bundled With DLC, Figures & More

Pipulitoch

@Daniel36 Yeah...no. First world problems is something else. I have too much money, games backlog is getting bigger and I have no time to play. That's a first world problem. This is greed, because you know collectors will buy version after version. 2 versions is understandable, since DLC usually comes after the game's launch. 3 different versions, sold through LRG is something different.
I skipped sale 1 aaaand 2, so to me this is great. But I understand that some people care for game preservation. The complete version is always the better one. Some people might have sold their first purchase to buy game 2, and now there is a more complete version. Sell at any cost. This is greed.

Re: Nintendo Museum Is Limiting Select Merch Sales As Expensive Online Listings Arise

Pipulitoch

Hi Nintendo
here's another way of fighting scalpers. 3 ways:
End store exclusivities. End geographic limitations.
Make enough for everyone. That's it.

No everyone can go to Japan.

Region free Switch is a great start. Selling Nintendo JP store through My nintendo is a great continuation.
Just make stuff available to everyone. You have enough ressources to do that, and plenty of physical and online stores around. When I say everything; I mean games, soundtracks, everything. You win, we win, we all win. Spend little bit of the money you now have to make everyone happy. You will sell.

Re: Random: Limited Run CEO Visits Nintendo, Acknowledges "Great" Partnership

Pipulitoch

2018 at LRG was an amazing year for Switch. I remember there was a 15 usd flat-rate DDP shipping, which was absurd at that time, since it also applied to 2 games. You could ship 2 games to EU for 15 bucks, and they took care of customs fees. I "took advantage" of that offer big time, and purchased many games. I remember it was incredibly cheap. Shipping from the US was cheaper for me than shipping from another EU country. Plus, at that time, USD exchange rate was incredibly advantageous for EU customers. I remember that a 29 usd game like Saturday Morning RPG need up costing 32 euros, shipping and customs fees included.
Then, it got worse, and much worse. Now, shipping times are very good. Less than 10 days (not working days), and shipping is quite cheap. I believe some orders are now shipping from EU. Recently, I received an order that took 4 days to be delivered.
I have mixed feelings about LRG. I believe they sell great products, they exploited FOMO and some anti-consumer practices, but they distributed and published great games. It's already huge, and I believe it will become global in a few years.
I must confess they have always been great with me. Re-shipped lost items, re-shipped damaged items, no questions asked. Others weren't so lucky. But I assume it depends on the money you spend, which is quite unprofessional.

Re: Castlevania Dominus Collection Physical Pre-Orders Are Now Open

Pipulitoch

So In EU we have 2 options: Buy from a US shop or buy from a JP developper's/publisher's US shop that only ships to America (the real continent) and then, re-send it to EU.
I really hate the current state of physical media.
EDIT: need to expand this. For a Konami game, I have 4 cover variants 3 available with direct DDP shipping and 1 sending it to a friend, no other option available within a radius of 6000 km. Nice.

Re: Does Astro Bot's Super Mario 'Inspiration' Cross A Line? Fans Seem Divided

Pipulitoch

Haven't played the game, but it took me 3 seconds to feel that nintendo aura in this game. I've seen GameXplain's comparison and it takes SO much from nintendo it's incredibly obvious. In fact; I believe it pays tribute to Mario 64 very openly, when the robot falls asleep, the same way Mario does in M64. No one should care really, I believe this game is a celebration of that nintendo seal of fun.

Re: Rumour: Game Developers Supposedly Told Not To Expect Switch "Successor" In Current Financial Year

Pipulitoch

@LadyCharlie I need to disagree here . I don t think there is such thing as "momentum for a Switch 2 release". What kind of momentum are you thing to discerne when Switch had 7 incredibly succesful years, still outselling the next gen in some territories, and it is wow surrounded by similar consoles that weren't even in discussion 7 years ago, when the Industry concensus was that exclusive portable game systems were dying. It seems that Switch 2 will be a beefier Switch, so all the system needs is software and way better specs. First party launch titles might include a new Mario (last 3d Mario was released 7 years ago) and Mario Kart 9. Third party launch titles could also be great, since this is a new nintendo, way different from 2017. There is a lot of confidence in nintendo right now. It was rumored that Switch will be compatible with ils succesor; but we don't know if 1st party Switch 2 games will be retro-compatible. If Switch 2 launches with the new Mario Kart, it will sell like there is no tomorrow.

Re: Nintendo Switch Sales Hit 143 Million As Hardware And Software Figures Decline

Pipulitoch

@Pillowpants How can a Switch price drop negatively affect Switch 2 sales?
143 million units, but several people own more than one system, like myself and a lot of people around here. They will buy the upcoming console. regardless of a price drop. After 7 and a half years, the people that hasn't bought the system yet are the ones that were never interested, or the people that cannot afford the system. The people that own a Switch will buy Switch 2 with or without a price drop.
They might not want to drop the price yet just because sales are still good. Even if the expectations weren't met here, these numbers are amazing for a 7 year old system.
