Re: Pokémon Pokopia Is Seemingly Nintendo's First Game-Key Card Release

Pipulitoch

That’s really concerning.
What’s most troubling is that users are turning on each other — exactly what corporations want. Post after post, it’s “lol, I don’t care about carts” versus the “boycott boys.”
It’s honestly just sad.

I understand the full digital mentality, how convenient it is but people with room temperature IQ and above know this will not end well.

Re: Supply Of Switch Hardware Will Continue If Enough Demand Persists

Pipulitoch

Make a TV-only version of the Switch — no screen, no Joy-Cons, no battery — just a small box that plays games on the TV. Sell it for under $100. We already have the handheld-only model, so why not offer the opposite for markets where the Switch is still a luxury, like South America? Use the remaining Tegra X1 chips to expand the brand’s reach. I’d definitely buy one as a cheap backup system — I rarely play in handheld mode anyway.

Re: Switch Is Poised To Be Nintendo's Best-Selling Console Of All Time

Pipulitoch

The Switch will never, ever surpass the PS2. It’s just not going to happen. There’s no way Sony doesn’t know exactly how many units they’ve manufactured and shipped — they have to report precise numbers to the Japanese tax authorities. Of course they know the exact figure. But they’ll cling to that record, from now until eternity.
Nintendo, on the other hand, couldn’t care less about that record. If they did, they would’ve dropped the price of the original Switch ages ago. A $100 Switch Lite in 2024, and we’d already be looking at 160+ million units sold. But Nintendo doesn’t care — and that’s exactly the point.
It’s kind of like the Messi vs. Ronaldo debate: one is obsessed with stats and records, convincing himself he’s still the best; the other just plays and moves on.
The PS2 is, and will remain, the ultimate champion. Nothing can change that.

If only the Switch had come with a DVD player… sigh.

Re: Poll: Do You Think Nintendo's New Animated Short 'Close To You' Is Pikmin Related?

Pipulitoch

It can be Pikmin-related, but to be honest, even if it has to do with pikmin, to me, it looks like a promo vid for the upcoming baby nintendo mech. They already announced some wood baby toys amiibo and some other products. The Rosalina storybook is another example. I saw yesterday that the EU my nintendo store is selling a cute Mario blanket, clearly aimed for babies (size-wise).

To me, it might be a new set of short videos to promote baby merch. Next one might have some Mario hints. That's it.

Re: Switch Is Now Within Touching Distance Of The DS' Lifetime Sales

Pipulitoch

A nice price drop to place Switch at half the price of a S2.
Lite even lower.
Nintendo will have, by far, the most affordable console in the market. Excellent entry level console for new gamers, perfect for kids. Impressive library.

I personally will keep buying S1 versions if the other option are key cards. Something I believe many will follow. S1's collecting scene is big. That will keep the S1 market alive a little longer. Unless nintendo pulls the plug.

They can manufacture that console for years and still sell. It only depends on how much it costs to manufacture it, profit, etc. OG S1 at 170, OLED at 199; LITE at 130 would be great.

The only thing is that lots of people are now selling their S1 to get a S2. Market will be flooded with crazy cheap used consoles. So there isn't a major reason to buy a new one, unless it's crazy cheap.

But I don't think nintendo will ever drop the S1 price. I believe they are very happy, and I think they will discontinue S1 support quite soon. Why discontinue the console with decent sales? Because of key cards and tu push S2 sales numbers. I'm still in shock by the key card r/ full cart ratio. Nintendo is definitely pushing towards full control.

Re: 'Azure Striker Gunvolt Trilogy Enhanced' Announced For Switch

Pipulitoch

step 1: buy from LRG separately, pay import fees and international shipping

step 2: 1,5 years later, so 2 weeks later you received your LRG games, Asian version is confirmed containing all 3 games. You might sell your LRG games and go for the one that contains all 3 games. You spent 120 on the LRG versions; this one costs 50+ import fees and shipping

step 3: 1 year after, US and EU version is released. 39.99. No import fees, and eventually free shipping

step 4: 8 months later; ASIA announces the super duper version ultra complete. That would be the one. You might sell everything and go fo that one. or not.

step 5: 1 month later, super duper version is announced for Switch 2. But cannot cancel your playasia order.

This pretty much sums the current game collecting reality.

Re: Furukawa's Defence Of Game-Key Cards Ain't All That Convincing

Pipulitoch

@MrGawain Not about confidence, IMO, it's about highlighting their product. They have this high value mentality for their IPs. New, BOTW game costs the same today as in 201. Using carts for all their first party; whereas third party publishers use download codes on empty carts just adds that "crème de la crème" quality to their games.

To me, they are testing. People will eventually give up. I'm curious about hoy long will nintendo maintain Switch, and Switch carts. Publishers will start putting S1 carts on S2 boxes, if nintendo allows this.

Re: "One Of The Slowest Modern LCDs I've Ever Seen" - Digital Foundry's John Linneman On Switch 2's Display

Pipulitoch

Let's be optimistic and say S2 will sell 120 million units.
From those 120 million, maybe 1,5 million will notice this and will not care since they don't expect much from a nintendo device, including those who are aware of this before buying. Similar specs with a great screen and battery life cost (if available) probably 300 to 400 more.
I don't see a problem.

Re: Limited Run's Switch 2 Numbered Releases Will Reportedly Include The "Full Game On The Cartridge"

Pipulitoch

So a 64GB cart that might cost 10 or 15 bucks plus a increasingly expensive shipping + import fees and any Trump extra tariffs retaliation applied to the EU.
A SEGA game, like Yakuza Kiwami, 35 bucks for Switch, might end up costing 45 to 50 bucks for a Switch 2 version. + 15 shipping + 12 bucks import fees = 72 to 77 bucks, delivered to a non US collector 5import fees include shipping).
Valkyria Chronicles 4 complete was 60 for Switch, 85 delivered. An S2 copy might end up costing 74,99, 108 delivered.

I remember LRS's infamous email about the EU operation, to have an EU base to get rid of EU import fees. That was 6 years ago.

90-100 bucks games are becoming the standard.

Dark times lie ahead

Re: Limited Run's Atlus Switch 2 Collector's Edition Is A 'Game-Key Card' Release

Pipulitoch

I'm kind of relieved. Imagine validating LRG, praising the idea of being the only ones to sell the complete Switch 2 version ONLY through a 250 bucks limited and Collector's Edition.
I know, I know, you will say "why not selling also the standard edition full on cart? Because we already know the deal was this. Thew would be the only to sell the CE. That was the deal.
The idea of having to buy sticker sheets, certificates of authenticity and a crappy plushie for 200 bucks just to have a game full on cart would be the ultimate FOMO.
The future is definitely not bright.

Re: Lunar Remastered Dev Apologises For Stock Issues After Rocky Physical Launch

Pipulitoch

@EVIL-C Here's another POV. Why on earth everyone is freaking out about this release? And not any other releases? Game has been released for 5 days, everyone has gone beserk. It was stated that it wasn't a limited run...however, no one believes that and publishers keep telling people that is not limited? Because LRG is behind and their words mean utterly 0. Nothing. Nada. No one trust them. That's great for everyone making money. GungHo, Clear River, NOT limited run...because everyone timidly interested will buy the game. Will not wait for a price drop. Great for publishers. Don't mind me, I just hate that, I hate FOMO.

Re: Lunar Remastered Dev Apologises For Stock Issues After Rocky Physical Launch

Pipulitoch

@EVIL-C It is related to Limited Run and Josh. Do you think they only got rights to distribute the game in EU only?
It's the same crap everywhere. People thanking Clear River and Gungho for NOT making this a limited run...but they are releasing 2 copies a day to keep demand high. How naive are you dude?
Same outcome everywhere, and people thanking them. FOMO meets Stockholm's syndrome. Nice

Re: Lunar Remastered Dev Apologises For Stock Issues After Rocky Physical Launch

Pipulitoch

@Andee what are you talking about? Limited Run 101. They cannot release a game without any kind of fomo. There is NO reason why a game like this should have stock issues, at release date, unless...
Then you see Limited Run is behind. In FR it is Amazon exclusive, though Clear River games and then it all makes sense.
They said for weeks and weeks this is not a limited release. However, there is no stock. Why then? To sell copies at full price, and not consider any price drops for the..
