I was able to try the CDi Mario and Zelda games at a video rental store where they had a demo unit set up, all I had to do was ask if I could try them out.
I loved Baldur's Gate and its related games back in the day, and Pillars of Eternity has been on my to-get list for a long time. Looks like I'll put this one on my to-get list for the Switch
I've tried it and it still has a way to go, but that's to be expected of a beta I guess. As far as the Switch version goes, I would love to have this so I can play my PC games handheld style, but I'm skeptical it will come to the Switch for reasons I've mentioned before.
It grabs whatever you have in your steam library, as well as other libraries (Blizzard's Battle.Net app, and I'm sure others as well), but the problem with steam is that you can import emulators into it. I tested the app and it actually picked it up, and with the right setup it's possible to play emulated games. Unless they can prevent that, I think Nintendo will slam the gate shut on them getting their app on the Switch.
If it doesn't come to the Switch I won't be to worried, since I like the idea of being able to play games through a browser. Of course, the lag I'm currently experiencing will need to be improved, but as I said, it's a beta, so I'm not expecting optimal performance.
@abbyhitter I got it from the Humble Bundle deal as well, and along with Shantae it's so far been one of my favorites. I still have to try some of the other games (backlog's a pain), but I'll probably play it again because of this update.
With regards to that Humble Bundle, I've yet to play Citizens of Earth, Nano Assault EX, Runbow, and Swords and Soldiers II. I started Darksiders II and Retro City Rampage, both which I enjoyed but haven't touched in quite a while. For some reason I couldn't much get into Super Street Fighter IV, and I'm not much of a fan of Rhythm games, so Rhythm Thief would probably be the last to be played.
Of course, I'm also looking forward to Freedom Planet 2!
@WiltonRoots Personally, I somewhat blame the advent of storage of consoles. PC users have had to deal with buggy games being patched long before consoles got their first hard drives. After consoles got their hard drives developers figured they could get away with what they were doing to PC users, and now the Switch has fallen victim as well.
I really ought to try the mega man series, but the difficulty of the series tends to put me down... Sooo... Any recommendations on the easiest to start with in the mainline, and also the X series?
I would still love for this to come to Switch, but I still remain skeptical. My main concern is that people would use it to stream (Nintendo) emulators to the Switch, something which would make Nintendo not allow this on the Switch. A workaround would be for them to have a library of allowed games, which would also work in Nintendo's favor of keeping games from being streamed to the Switch which are both on the Switch and PC, such as Doom and Skyrim.
Still, I'm hoping for the best and Nintendo will allow this on the Switch, as I would definitely use this to stream plenty of games to the Switch, from the comfort of my recliner.
Oh well, back to playing with my Trek Wars action figures. Just love the adventures of Han Sulu, Luke Kirk, Princess Uhura, and the United Federation of Jedi vs the Sithons.
Wrong sales pitch for me. No sleep sounds good. Throw in eating but without consequences and you're a step closer. Finally throw in unlimited gaming and ditch the no thinking (since you'd need to think for games) and I'll consider it.
I never owned Wild World, but didn't it have some kind of connectivity to the City Folk/Let's Go To The City? I did have the Gamecube/GBA Link Cable so I could connect the original Animal Crossing, and it would be nice to see that tradition continued. Maybe they could even do a small update to New Leaf to add connectivity to the Switch version?
@Kalmaro Same with the Dreamcast I guess. It may not have sold well, but I enjoyed many games on it. I tend to prefer to look at the games that a system has to offer, rather than how well it sells, otherwise I'd be missing out on many fun games.
What about the Animal Crossing (GameCube) Halloween event? Speaking of which, since I only got AC:NL this year, it'll be my first Halloween event in that version of the game. Can't wait to see what it's like this time.
It all depends on whether or not I can change my wife's mind about getting Odyssey and letting me play it. I just bought a new phone and because of that she thinks I ought to wait to get Odyssey for Christmas... I guess I'll have to butter her up good if I want to play it this weekend!
Or you can gather information on the company that would ruin them, and use it against them, unless they fork over enough of these cases for all of Nintendo Life's community.
While I'm eager to play this, I'll skip taking all these steps so I won't be cluttered with different accounts. Besides, I'm still playing AC:NL, so I can keep myself busy with that. I finally managed to get T&T Emporium, and am getting close to getting all the upgrades to my house. I also can't wait to see what the Halloween event will be like!
Speaking of which, I wonder if there'll be a Halloween event for AC:PC next Tuesday. If there is then those Australians lucked out!
Now I can't wait to see a news report about someone playing their Switch, not watching where they're going, and falling in a fountain, to be the antithesis of these videos. And of course to entertain my schadenfreude, though I'd feel sorry... for the Switch...
@rjejr I actually had a Windows phone until recently. After some poor decisions on Microsoft's part, I finally jumped ship last weekend. I guess I couldn't have done it at a better time, seeing how much I enjoy Animal Crossing.
From first impressions the micro transactions don't look to intrusive, and more like the old "speed up this process" affair, which I've been able to live with on quite a number of mobile games.
One thing I hope is that this will familiarize people with AC who've never played it, and attract them to get the main entries in the series. And hopefully, if there's going to be a Switch version, they'll include some kind of connectivity feature between it and AC: Pocket Camp.
Wow, just wow. While I only ever played Turrican 1 & 2 on the C64, they are 2 of my most favorite games on that system. Unfortunately I don't think I'd get this system for this game (and Super Turrican 2), but it's very tempting.
Can't wait to see what they've got in store for Animal Crossing on mobiles, I've been waiting for some kind of announcement for a long time. I was kind of disappointed though to see the "No Switch or 3DS news", as I'm eagerly awaiting the Switch game. I do hope there'll be some kind of connectivity between the mobile game and the Switch game.
Also, I just ditched my Windows Phone (you know, like Microsoft has been doing) to get a new iPhone, so it looks like I'm just in time to get into it Of course, I have a lot of catching up to do with Nintendo's offerings, but also Sega Forever (though I'll need some kind of gamepad for those, since I dislike the touch controls).
Graphics aren't my problem, having enough time/money to play all of the games I wish I could be playing is. Mostly time really due to work, but if I didn't work I wouldn't have the money so I couldn't buy the games but then I don't have time to play the games so I wish I could just not work to play the games which in turn leads me back into this rant...
I already have it on the 3DS thanks to the Humble Bundle. Would love for Nintendo to team up again with them, it was a nice bundle. I actually have some of those 3d glasses. They can mess up the colors, but they're fun regardless.
Well, I had 30 gold coins expire September 30, so I hope I spend it wisely on Super Little Acorns 3D Turbo. From the review it looks like my kind of game where the difficulty comes from trying to collect/achieve everything, but at it's core it's not to difficult.
What? No 4k 120fps? Guess I'll go back to playing my C64 games...
But seriously, it's nice that they're more concerned with hitting 60fps. On the PC I regularly sacrifice resolution/visual effects so I can play 60fps, and I don't regret that loss.
Now as far as the release date is concerned, I wish it were here sooner... My gift cards are burning a hole in my pocket just waiting to be spent on this...
The only game on the snes classic I haven't played is super punch out. Most of the other games I played on the original SNES, with the console borrowed from a friend's brother-in-law, and renting a ton of games. I actually went the route of C64 to Sega Master System to Sega Megadrive to N64. I chose this route to complement the systems my friends had, so we could enjoy all the games on all the systems. It definitely was a fun-filled experience.
I initially got the Dreamcast after playing Crazy Taxi on a ferry to London, but it didn't last long before I got plenty of other games as well. Crazy Taxi, Sonic Adventure 1 & 2 (bring back the Chao!), Soul Calibur, Shenmue, Jet Grind (Set) Radio, Skies of Arcadia (come on, give us a sequel!), Power Stone 1 & 2, Chu Chu Rocket, Ooga Booga, Typing of the Dead, Bangai-O, Marvel vs Capcom, Metropolis Street Racer, NBA 2K2... I would love to see these games on the Switch one way or another...
@Dpishere @BustedUpBiker, @Pj1, @electrolite77 Have you tried Streets of Rage Remake? I recently saw a video about it on YouTube, and it looks very interesting. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm planning to give it a shot this weekend. If it is good, Sega ought to get the team that did that remake to do a new Streets of Rage.

Nooo! Not the Sonic 3 bonus stages! I always did well on the bonus stages from 1 & 2, but for some reason the ones on 3 posed more of a challenge for me. I still managed to tackle them though, so I'm willing to tackle these as well.
That said, what's the difference between the gold ring bonus stages and the checkpoint bonus stages? Gold rings used to be where you'd get the chaos emeralds, and checkpoints power-ups, if I remember right. Been so long since I played any of them, so maybe someone else can help me remember.
@Filth_Element @MetalKingShield Thanks for the info. The final dungeon felt rather disappointing to me due to the sudden jump in difficulty. Fortunately it wasn't to long, so memorization was easy, and I was able to make it through.
I'll definitely put this one on my wish list. I'll also have to consider Shantae (the original) and Risky's revenge, since I haven't played those either.
