The Switch eShop already has a number of retro games available through the HAMSTER Neo Geo and arcade ports, while a number of titles can certainly be described as having a retro style. Hyper Sentinel will eventually add to the latter list, with its goal of bringing its own 'Neo Retro' approach to the shoot 'em up genre.
Publisher Huey Games has now released a video showcasing the game running on the Switch hardware itself, also demonstrating the control schemes and different visual filters that can be applied.
For those of you in the UK, it's worth noting that it'll be playable on Switch at this weekend's PLAY Expo event in Manchester.
So, are you interested in this one?

Gimme, gimme, gimme!
I'm starting to get a little burned out on all these retro inspired indie games. The Switch eShop is starting to look like a Super Nintendo catalog.
@thesilverbrick But if we didn't have them, how else would people play them?

That's good news and something to be praised. Yes there may be 16 bit fatigue eventually but so far the vast majority have been quality releases. I say keep them coming!
I love the Sperctrum and C64 options.
I had Iridium back in the day and it was INSANELY hard for me. Still liked it but I hope they are a little kinder on this version.
That's... Uridium, isn't it? Did it have a different name in other countries?
@Mr_Horizon Huey have connections to Hewson ^^
I AM SO SOLD! Plug this in to my veins
@JHDK Don't get me wrong. I love a good retro game as much as anyone else, and the Super Nintendo will go down in history as my favorite console of all time, but I really would like some more visual variety when I browse the shop. Everything looks the same.
Nice! I'm one of the Kickstarters, and I ordered the tape cassette USB drive, 2 steam keys and a Switch code for this game! I can't wait to get my hands on it!
The CRT screen curving is a clever touch
@Mr_Horizon Yup, Uridium. Had it, and I remember dying a lot. In retrospect, maybe I should have poke'd it a little
Isn't that Uridium with a new coat of paint for it? Got that on a loaded CD of games on my original PC Christmas of 1990. It was the first in computer drive, had its own caddy for discs, ran at 1/2 the speed of a noted single speed CD rom drive. I know it was also on stuff like european computers, etc.
It's made by the same guys who made uridium , did the kickstarter for the switch port.
Looking forward to this one , looks ace
I had Uridium back on the C64 and I downloaded it (along with Paradroid) on the Wii Virtual Console.
Yes, this looks a lot like the old shmup classic.
Did you know Hyper Sentinel is not the only Uridium-inspired shooter coming to the Switch? There's another one called Promethium coming:

Loved Uridium on C64.
@SKTTR
oh man Paradroid, an all-time favourite
@Mr_Horizon It IS Uridium! I thought the exact same thing the moment I saw this. There are some differences - this has added power-ups and options, but at its core, it's the same thing.
Heh, I'd Blame the developers and the retro revival bit.
Signed up for the beta months ago. It's great on Android! Been waiting for an update...
Wow this looks really awful. Is this the work of a 5-year-old?Someone please make good games for the Switch!
