Re: Nintendo Tells Mobile Partners To Limit Microtransactions So That Players Don't Spend Too Much

OfNullAndVoid

Pokemon Picross had a good model. It's free to start, but you could buy picrites for some of the things in the game. However, there is a cap, in that you can only buy up to 5,000 picrites, after which you'll get free picrites. All in all, the max you can ever spend on it is about 30 dollars/pounds/euros.

It would be interesting to see that in other free to start/play games as well, though maybe on a monthly basis. Of course, I understand they need to make their money on those f2p games.

Re: Reminder: Warframe PC To Nintendo Switch Account Migration Ends 15th January

OfNullAndVoid

@Ludovsky Yeah, I only managed one on that successful try, and I haven't been back. There's only been a few areas so far where I had to try & try again. This one, the junction to Jupiter (before I just took Excalibur's summoned sword to quickly kill guardians, this one didn't quite work like that), and one of the story missions where you had to hack 3 terminals, all successfully, all of which you had to align all 7 grids. Except for the rush mission, I found tricks to get through them.

@Ludovsky @mazzel Are you guys talking about the one where you have to intercept the transport vessels, destroy the 2 drones protecting them, and then destroy them?

I kept on trying in a group until the group disbanded on that one, even though on the last run I had gotten close enough to destroy at least one drone. Of course, I got so close that I got determined to try one more time. If only the group hadn't disbanded, because I made it that run. Sooo frustrating though!

Adventures of Lolo & Ninja Gaiden for me I never played any of the Ninja Gaidens, so I expect to be killed over and over. Adventures of Lolo I never played either, but I always enjoy a good puzzle game. Not only that, but it was a game my wife used to play on the NES, so it'll be a nice surprise to her

Re: Reminder: Sega Mega Drive Classics Is Out On Switch Today, Here's The Launch Trailer

OfNullAndVoid

I remembered getting a few free Sega games on steam at one point. I opened up the Sega Genesis Collection through steam and noticed the 4 games I had were the only ones on the shelves. If all versions are build off the same code, that could mean that it's easy to add games, so I'm hoping that, if Sega ever gets the rights sorted out for some games, that they'll be able to add them through a simple update. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Ecco, Sonic 3, and Wonderboy.

Re: Reminder: Sega Mega Drive Classics Is Out On Switch Today, Here's The Launch Trailer

OfNullAndVoid

@MagnaRoader I don't think there's been a straight answer from Sega on this one, but supposedly it has to do with the (some?) of the music in Sonic 3 (& Knuckles) being credited to Michael Jackson. Due to that the estate is holding on the the rights of that music and Sega isn't able to offer it.

The only reason I can think of that it was included in previous collections is that perhaps MJ didn't keep Sega from including the game, despite holding rights to the music.

As far as I know this is speculation though, unless someone can find some official statements somewhere and post that here.

@Mountain_Man You can always get the C64 Mini. I do think it's a little on the pricey side ($80/£70). It comes with 64 games, but it's a rather mixed bag. As much as I love the C64, I think the NES and SNES mini are a much better deal. The one thing the C64 mini does have is the option to play more games from a flash drive.

Oh, and someone also recently announced the PC mini... No games have been announced for it yet since they have yet to start the fundraising and get licenses for games.

As far as this game is concerned, I enjoyed it, but there's plenty of C64 titles which I'd rather play with new levels.

Re: The Japanese Name For Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's World Of Light Mode Holds a Cool Easter Egg

OfNullAndVoid

@link3710 @Reigestugatensho I counted about 34 of them:
Rosalina, Charizard, Falco, Captain Falcon, Pikachu, Mewtwo, Princess Zelda, Kirby, Bowser, Mega Man, Samus, Mario, King K. Rool, Pit, Link, Shulk, Fox, Pokemon Trainer, Marth, Belmont, Palutena, Snake, Sonic, Inklings, King Dedede, Fit Trainer, Villager, Donkey Kong, Lucario, Greninja, Bayonetta, Dark Pit, Diddy Kong, Duck Hunt.

Admittedly, it would have been rather epic to see them all there and watching all of them get turned into spirits. I can imagine Luigi maybe try to use poltergust to capture a beam, and Jigglypuff trying to sing the beam to sleep.

Re: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Direct Announced For 1st November

OfNullAndVoid

They'll announce that Smash has been delayed due to quality control, with the rest of the video filled with apologies from the top of Nintendo.

But seriously, I'm hoping for that one reveal I've been waiting for all this time: Story mode! I have a feeling some of the character reveal videos are related to that and the story as a whole. Hopefully they won't reveal to much about the story if they're going to talk about that though.

Other things I'd like to see:

stage builder. Hopefully we'll see another "basketball" stage build. Of course, I expect to see new features.

Trophy Rush/Coin Launcher. I preferred Coin Launcher, but both were fun. I wouldn't be surprised to see some trophy hunting mini game.

Event Match. Completed the one on Wii, but not Wii U, but I enjoy these challenges a lot.

Break the targets. I'd really like to see the old style running around trying to break the targets, as opposed to target blast.

OfNullAndVoid

@MattFox I only played the demo and enjoyed it, but you're right in that they shot themselves in the foot by doing that, as I decided to wait for the sequel. If the sequel had been further out, I probably would have gotten it.

Of course, I'm eagerly awaiting the demo for this game. Let's just hope that when they release this one they won't announce DQB3

Re: Switch Is Getting A Nintendogs-Style Game Called Little Friends: Dogs & Cats

OfNullAndVoid

Nintendogs & Cats for the 3DS is one of many games on my to-get list for the 3DS, but if Nintendo releases that for the Switch I'd likely get that.

@Silly_G Kinda hoping they would release Art Academy for the Switch, though you'd either be painting with the joy-cons in docked mode, or with a finger/stylus in portable mode. If that happens I'd probably use a stylus, seeing as I'm used to using a stylus with the Wii U/3DS versions.

Re: Random: Bowsette Is Now A Thing Thanks To A Near-Endless Supply Of Nintendo Fan Art

OfNullAndVoid

@Anti-Matter Unless you're going with the -ette suffix, then yes. But shouldn't the female characters then turn male, and perhaps have male sounding names?

In fact, why stop there:
Everyone should have opposite gender, opposite alignment (good to evil, evil to good), and opposite gender + alignment.

So Mario would have Mariette, and already has Wario, but would still need Wariette.

Bowser would be Bowsette (female, still evil), Wabowser (good version), and Wabowsette (good version, female)

Re: Assassin's Creed Odyssey Is Coming To Nintendo Switch, But There's A Catch

OfNullAndVoid

I've actually been using GeForce Now Beta to play some of my games this way, and I'm surprised to say that it actually runs well. Granted, I have a 300/10mbit connection, but it shows it's a possibility to do the same for Switch. What would be interesting to know if nVidia is working together with them to make this happen.

That said, I still prefer physical copies

Re: Rainway App Is Apparently Still In Development For Nintendo Switch

OfNullAndVoid

I keep on trying it, but it remains laggy for me unfortunately. It's possible that this has to do with network settings, but out-of-the-box it's not playable for me. Also, while I would love to see this on the Switch, I think they'd have to make sure people couldn't run emulators. While the service taps into several launchers it can find (Steam, Uplay, Blizzard, Origin, etc), it's easy to add custom applications to steam, which would allow emulators to be run, something Nintendo would definitely not allow.

Also, I have been using another streaming service which has actually been working quite well for me. I've been able to stream games from my home computer to my computer at work. While there is some lag, to me the games are playable, so it is possible.

Also, I was able to make it into nVidia's streaming service for PC, GeForce Now, which has been working great for me so far. I've tried multiple games at max settings, and only twice so far did I have such bad lag that I couldn't play. For example, I was able to play Quake Champions with no lag, and I actually won the one match I played. Personally, I would love to see nVidia bring that service to the Switch, since they already worked with Nintendo on the hardware for the Switch.

Re: Did Luigi's 'Death' In Smash Bros. Ultimate Secretly Hint At A New Single-Player Campaign?

OfNullAndVoid

@rjejr The "deaths" of Luigi, Mario, and Mega Man felt a lot like the "deaths" of characters in SSBB. The cutscenes also have a very story like element to it, much like the ones from subspace emissary. Also, there's a similarity between the 2 since in both we see villains taking out heroes. Maybe they're taking the souls (spirits?), only to have some evil entity take over the bodies of the heroes, and the only way to free them is to beat them and restore their souls?

All speculation of course, and it does feel a bit darker than the SSBB version, but then again we haven't seen them be turned into "trophies", so that may still happen.
