Some nice retro games for sure with Double Dragon II and Phantasy Star. Don't see much else for me this week.
I was saving some $ for the now-delayed Battle Princess Madelyn, so I may just put that toward Gris instead and buy BPM whenever it's finished.
I may give firewatch another try. Played it on Xbox one and though I enjoyed it I never got around to completing it. Something about the portability of the switch brings new life to games for me
Just Phantasy Star and Everspace for me this week. Money is tight due to Christmas and kids, etc. Traded in some games tho, and got a $50 card. Woooo! Christmas for Dad!
I see a bunch of Not Smash on there
But yeah, I'm done till after the new year. Everspace is certainly on my list, though.
Adventures of Lolo & Ninja Gaiden for me I never played any of the Ninja Gaidens, so I expect to be killed over and over. Adventures of Lolo I never played either, but I always enjoy a good puzzle game. Not only that, but it was a game my wife used to play on the NES, so it'll be a nice surprise to her
Phantasy Star is the only game on my radar, although I'm curious to see how Fitness Boxing plays. While I'm glad Switch has distanced itself from the casualized Wii era in such a big way, I still wouldn't mind a few of the fitness-themed games on the system.
Firewatch is going to be my last game of 2018. Might get GRIS. Might.
Money's right, but GRIS, Atari Flashback Classics, & Knights of Pen & Paper 1 + 2 are on my wishlist.
To those who haven't played it, Firewatch is a really great walking simulator. It had some very memorable moments.
Phantasy Star for me. I want to try this out in the Switch since it's a Sega Ages game (Not the remake that appeared in Phantasy Star Generations that sadly never left Japan, mind you.).
"In order to avenge lover, Billy and Jimmy will use their signature move "So-Setsu-Ken" to challenge the armed groups of the mystery. In this game, users can use a variety of skills than previous work "DOUBLE DRAGON", and enjoy scuffles that are power up."
Hahaha! That's fantastic.
I recommend to everyone Firewatch. That's an excellent game with a perfect narration.
Money's tight right now, but eventually I'll get Atari Flashback Classics and Phantasy Star.
Nothing for me, like most weeks without major retail games launching. But its not like I need anything else to play anyway
Phantasy Star, Twinkle Star Sprites, and Double Dragon II....are going to some of my last remaining spots on my wish list! Maybe if I perform some credit card magic tricks I might just pick them up this weekend.
Gonna try Firewatch sooner than later, but I'm swamped right now. I'll wait see if it gets a sale over my Christmas break.
I may have to pick up Firewatch again. Loved it on the Xbox One.
Twinkle Star Sprites and Double Dragon II are from last week (again), can anyone tell me what the real new ACA games are?
Gris for me this week. I also Snagged Desert Child too.
Eventually, the Atari collection, but for now I'm content with the Sega collection and Smash Ultimate!
Gris and Firewatch eventually....I’m still playing Smash and the new NES games that went up yesterday.
...let’s be real - I’m mostly just playing Ninja Gaiden for the hundredth time. Never gets old.
Got Atari and double dragon. My retro this year is complete.
How about having real Russian fun with all your heart?
Best line I'll read on the internet today.
NL should have a matching game quiz each week -
Guess the game from the description.
these game lists are getting very large, definitely seems we are getting more and more shovelware.
rain world just surprise dropped on switch
Nothing for me. Who has time to play anything besides SMASH?
Thinking about picking up Guacamelee 2 before the 10% off runs out. From this week, only Gris interests me, but I can wait
I’m DESPERATELY waiting on that V-Rally 4 in America. Didn’t know it was coming out in EU today! I haven’t played a rally racing game on a Nintendo system since... oh... Top Gear Rally 1 and 2?
Cannot wait.
I gotta hand it to Smash for being the o let game to truly peel me away from my slow grind in a Dark Souls. I’m so close to beating it!
Also, shoutout to Everspace for being utterly amazing and really nailing the controls (looking at you with the stink eye, Starlink) and scratching my space flight/rogue itch.
So many good games right now on Switch! I’m actually back to having a back catalogue again!
What shall I buy, backlog, rent, or pass on today...?
'n Verlore Verstand — Dream type setting, first-person setting... mm hmm, yep. Still not ahead of other games I have pegged. Backlogged.
Almightree: The Last Dreamer — This "looks" interesting, and I get a good feeling, but I would need a review on it. Pass for now.
Arcade Archives DOUBLE DRAGON II The Revenge — Until only about 10 years ago, I didn't even know Double Dragon had arcade games past the first one. Now I get to experience it for myself. This means there's hope for
Double Dragon 3: The Rosetta Stone now. Bless your Arcade Archives. Buy!
Atari Flashback Classics — Hmm, includes homebrews eh? I only have like, 1 or 2 Atari classics I ever played, and the only one I ever loved was Pitfall. It's a bit of a curio for me really, but I'd still like to have this for retro purposes. Hopefully it gets a review and reviews decent. Backlog for now.
Firewatch — Perhaps similar to Kona, but either way, this narrative hooked me. Apparently people liked it on other platforms, so I will backlog this for now.
GRIS — I saw it from a distance, saw what the gameplay was, and was going to pass (Not because I though it was bad, just knowing I wouldn't likely have time for it). But from time to time I need to scratch that artform-videogame itch, and according to the review, this game can scratch it. Won't buy it for now, but I'll backlog it for sure.
Lazy Galaxy: Rebel Story — At first I thought it was a silly looking shmup, but it looks to be a little deeper than I thought as I delved into it. Backlogged.
Omensight: Definitive Edition — I like the action/mystery premise, but I'm a tad picky on which humanoid animal character games I play lol. Pass unless I learn I simply cannot be without this in my backlog (at least).
Quarantine Circular — Played Subsurface Circular, liked it-- Cool game to play on the bus ride home. I'm satisfied with the style of game it was for now, and at least I know what I'm getting into. Backlog for now.
SEGA AGES Phantasy Star — This will likely be a buy, and I've been waiting for this one. I'm hoping for a review as I need more details on the QoL adjustments as this one was too time consuming for me when I played it on the Wii/Wii U. I need to know if it's worth it. Backlogged, but will be a buy if it reviews good enough for me.
EDIT:
I'm going to download the Fitness Boxing demo too so I can see if that's worth my time as I await a Wii Fit U successor. Also, I'll finally get to sample Adventures of Lolo, relive Ninja Gaiden 1 again, and give Wario's Woods another go with my homeboy Toad (Hopefully this fresh look will be worth it like it was for Yoshi with me lol)
2 Atari games are the retail releases for a Nintendo console this week. I really can’t figure out this world.
Got Capcom collections, Namco, Sega, SNK, Atari, select ACA titles, and NES online. When am I getting my Midway arcade games?
Rain World for me this week.
Another sad Thursday for the 3DS. The forgotten system
Going back to finish everything in BOTW and finishing World of light. In between trying to get that shiny Mewtwo in Let's Go. Not buying anything for a while
As to that Atari Collection. aren't Activision games like the GoldenEye of 2600?
(from what I heard, Activision doesn't care much to release them themselves but charges up the noise to license them to people who do care)
@KingMike
Do you mean Goldeneye as in like great 3rd party games. Atari themselves made a lot of decent games for 2600. Yars revenge was always my favorite and that was made by Atari proper
Phantasy Star was really kicking my butt. I forgot that at the beginning you to need run from most fights, recover and save after each fight until you level up and afford better equipment. This is what 'the feeling of getting stronger' is and it's wonderful.
You get a new piece of equipment and maybe now you can kill a scorpion, just 1 though, if there are two in the battle you better run and so it goes with each enemy.
Good stuff.
I remember hearing some very good things about Firewatch when it released on PC a couple years back. Meant to pick it up then but life distracted me. Happy I waited, because in my biased mind, basically everything is better on Switch!
@Megal0maniac OK, got it. The real ACA releases instead of last week's Double Dragon II and Twinkle Star Stripes are: METAL SLUG 5 and.. Arcade Archives ATHENA!
@Gravitron It's that, in when people mention 2600 games, it seems Activision games are often mentioned as some of the better/more desired games, but it seems that licensing is unlikely to happen in these compilation releases.
Getting Switch for Christmas. Wanted to pick up couple of digital games on sale in eshop, but I get an error message that I need to register Switch first. What the heck, should be allowed to purchase games regardless.
Gris and Firewatch are on the radar.
A Greasy Journey this weekend.
Atari Collection!!!!
$40????
It's $10 on Steam with 100 games :/
Does the Atari collection have E.T.?
@Illusion that would be awesome!! We’re waiting on Warner Bros. to get a classic midway Collection going!! Here’s hoping!
Atari Collection for sure! 150 games...all 3 volumes and 5200 games?? I’m in!!
