We don't have these big gaming launch/event things where I'm from. It would be nice to experience it personally so imma add it to my bucket list. I'm sure they do these launch/special events in Japan so that would be my best bet.
Backlog is so huge that I've declared a no game purchase policy for the next month. Hoping to get some new announcements for things to look forward to for the next half of the year though!
I was planning to buy it anyway somewhere down the line but I just went ahead and placed an order today to get it on launch day. Pretty surprised it's reviewing this good considering the first few reveals had a lot of us worried. Also perfect timing as my 9yo just finished her Sword playthrough. I'm a latecomer to the series as Sword is currently my first game (not counting New Pokemon Snap) with only 1 gym badge to my name. Will be juggling my time with this, Sword and Xenoblade DE which should keep me very busy for the next couple months.
This could potentially be the best Nintendo game this year. You can tell by the trailer that its gonna be loaded with fun gameplay and content. The areas all look unique and varied. Seems like a lot of love was put into this. Looking forward to get it on March!
The only AC game I've ever played was Rouge as a free game on GWG for Xbox 360. I enjoyed it for a few good hours but for some reason stopped playing it. I want to give the series another go this time (obviously on the Switch) and I am not sure what game would get me back to it. I've heard some good things about this from a good friend/classmate when we worked on a company together sometime during the early PS3/X360 era. Maybe I'll check this one out.
@JasmineDragon Totally agree with you on that. I was suffering from anxiety and insomnia during these past holiday gatherings fearing the worst for my family. Needed a good laugh or two and stuff like these actually get your mind to clear up a bit. I hope you and your loved ones recover soon!
Looking forward to a challenging and meaty story mode, something like when you combine Splatoon 2 main story and the Octo DLC. Aside from that just stable multiplayer servers and I'm good. Ready to sink it hundreds of hours on this game.
@WallyWest SMT V deserves a 90 in my book. I wonder how much of these reviews weighed down the ratings because it was trying hard to compare it to Persona.
Big fan of Shaq as a kid. Always seemed like a nice guy who really cared. Doesn't try to hide his imperfections in public either unlike most public figures nowadays in the social media conscious era.
The Megaman design is just too good but this one's fine too. Just a heads up, this thing ain't immune to drifting as mine has developed a slight issue on the right stick. But thats after many hundreds of hours playing intense shooters and it still works fine by realigning the stick to center if you get what I mean.
I cannot believe this game got a sequel. The first one was so terrible that even at $2 is waste of money. And they had the guts to do a 2nd game which seems to be equally bad. I don't understand it...
@GannonBanned Late reply but you know what, I bought it and I am liking it right now! I never liked any games in the GTA mold but this one is enjoyable.
I didn't read much gaming media when the Switch was released. Actually thought it was a pretty cool idea and perfect for my needs. My kid was getting started into gaming at that time and I had trouble finishing games on the X360 due to lack of tv time. The hybrid concept was everything I wanted on a console. Co-op anytime, handheld anytime or play on the tv if you wish. Only doubts I had is how it would actually work.
I bought it for $20 after the price drop and on a sale back in Sept. I think. I haven't really played much but it was ok for the short while that me and my daughter played it. It needed more time in the oven that's for sure. Had potential to serve a very niche audience but it is what it is.
I was really tempted to get it at that price browsing the eshop earlier but not quite sure that it's my type of game. Maybe I should just buy and stash so it wouldn't take up space. I might get to playing it sometime.
I like watching videos on my switch news feed and their show was one that I looked forward to. My daughter also likes them and we were kinda sad hearing its their last episode. Only got a switch late 2019 so I never saw any of their earlier vids. I thought they did a good job given the bounds of Nintendo PR and their chemistry was pretty good too.
My daughter and niece was watching a really popular youtuber playing this and they couldn't stop talking about it for a day. I believe that played a huge part in their marketing efforts. Seems like a nice and relaxing game but I have too much organizing in real life to do already 😂
Ahh shoot I thought it was gonna be a non cloud game. I tried it on Steam bec I got it real cheap and worth the risk of not running on my potato laptop. Unfortunately the game is poorly optimized despite the simple graphics so I guess cloud makes sense for this small studio.
@JaxonH I was about to mention this review as well. They really nailed the technical stuff on this one and confirmed that the Switch version had a lot of rework to suit the hardware. I am convinced to get this one since it looks amazing on handheld and thats all that matters to me really.
@Krambo42 Yup, no harm in trying this one. The new footage actually looks much better compared to the brief showcase on the apple event a while back. Its not AAA but it could be fun in short spurts. Besides, F2P shooters are usually better than full priced shooters these days when it comes to online play. Much larger playerbase, contionous support/updates/content and game balancing usually results to a better gameplay experience.
@BlackenedHalo I love this game but I am missing the tension in Nocturne. I also liked that they explored different ideologies in that game which in my opinion makes the main plot better and more engaging. Other than that everything else is great for me at least.
This is by far the best SPP design I've seen. My Daemon X Machina version has taken a lot of beating already and in case it breaks I'll get this one as a replacement. Maybe this means we'll get a Mega Man Legends remaster soon? Wishful thinking
Honestly I couldn't tell the difference between 30 and 60 fps most of the time. All the while I thought Splatoon 2 was 60fps and I thought it ran 60fps smooth even on intense turf war gameplay. Its only because I read a lot of gaming media in recent times, which started during the pandemic, that I tend to consider these things now when buying games. Ultimately doesn't affect my enjoyment in any way. More importantly, I make sure that games don't suffer from crashing and glitches before I buy them.
@Lando_ They gave Uncharted 1-3 for free on the PS store during the early days of the pandemic and I just couldn't get into any of the games. To each his own I guess.
@Spiders Would be great seeing that price but on the Japanese trailer it indicates the standard full price (which is the same with the PS4 west version) so it is doubtful. However, Atlus games regularly get good sales on the eshop shortly after release so I would probably get it then.
I wonder what kind of options are being added to the menu. Haven't really tinkered with it. Hopeful that this becomes successful enough that they do a SMTV sequel or DLC expansion. I do think its possible since IV had Apocalypse. I'm probably thinking way ahead though as the game just launched but I am pretty sure I will want more after finishing the game.
@anoyonmus Ah so it did make its way via the Epic store. I was actually looking for it on Steam as I wanted to see if I can get it cheaper on our regional storefront. I just don't see myself spending the $60 equivalent for this but I do understand that its an AAA release.
Honestly not surprised. I was looking to get this one but I wasn't satisfied with what I saw in the demo. They should've just released it to all platforms (incl. pc and xbox) if they wanted to sell more copies.
Only started following the different game awards these past couple years and I think its safe to say that only BAFTA takes these things seriously. Every other major award body is just marketing and fan service.
@KBuckley27 My thoughts exactly. Only played the Tales demo and watched first few parts of the story but I feel its a very generic JRPG with a nice coat of paint. Its likely going to win here though. Maybe its just not what I was expecting.
Fun game. Played a lot when it launched as a F2P title. I heard it was much better before but to be able to play a game of this quality for free is amazing. Planning to come back for Season 5 and I'm ready to suck again!
I'd love to get one of these at the $399 price tag (entry variant) but anything more than that I would just get a good laptop which basically does everything else for me. I doubt it would be easy to get one where I'm from anyways. The price will be heavily marked up here that's for sure.
@faint Really? In that case then more gaming for me. I'm paying for my family's sub and I barely even watch anything these days. Great that I will finally benefit from it!
Are they not gonna let us change resident reps at least? My wife and daughter have abandoned their villager accounts in my Switch lite. My daughter is resident rep and I just want to be able to play properly without the need to open her villager account just to do some things.
@thiz the game above actually made me check out their site. They have a bunch of interesting projects and they really have some serious worldbuilding going on. I don't play any MOBA and didn't like Valorant so maybe they want to expand their reach to other types of gamers.
Oh nice, I didn't know Riot was into making single player experiences like this one. Gotta admit it kinda looks neat. I'll keep my eyes on this one. Hopefully its not on the expensive side.
EDIT: Okay so its $10 on the pre-order page, that's not too bad. Hope it turns out good
I had my eye on this when I first saw the Japanese trailer although I didn't have any clue as to what the heck its about. This is a pretty good score and I will keep my eyes peeled for a future sale. I wanted to give Atelier a try but I prefer this style over that series.
@andykara2003 no worries. Actually I see where you are coming from. I think that gameplay was never really Sonic's strong suit. There's this Netflix documentary about gaming history that explains how Sega conceptualized Sonic to combat Mario & Nintendo. It was built heavily on character design marketability and eye candy action-oriented gameplay.
@andykara2003 I'm not really sure because I liked Sonic 2 and Sonic and Knuckles when I was a kid but it could be because everyone else in school did. I also remember I enjoyed the isometric spinoff game very much (forgot the title). The recent ones I am hesitant to try since the core Sonic gameplay is not really my thing and, in my opinion, has not aged very well. Strangely the one I remember that I enjoyed the most is Sonic 4 EP1 on the iPhone 3GS. For some reason I can't seem to explain, its really hard to hate on Sonic maybe because the character is just so likable.
On a previous thread I read a discussion speculating that it is possible that Nintendo does not implement backwards compatibility on their next gen console. If this is the case then just let the Switch live as long as possible. I have bought too many games for this system already.

I don't see anything wrong with it. Very satirical take on the very extreme spectrum of the pandemic conspiracies in my opinion.
