Re: Review: Pokémon Legends: Arceus - One Of The Greatest Pokémon Games Ever Made

I was planning to buy it anyway somewhere down the line but I just went ahead and placed an order today to get it on launch day. Pretty surprised it's reviewing this good considering the first few reveals had a lot of us worried. Also perfect timing as my 9yo just finished her Sword playthrough. I'm a latecomer to the series as Sword is currently my first game (not counting New Pokemon Snap) with only 1 gym badge to my name. Will be juggling my time with this, Sword and Xenoblade DE which should keep me very busy for the next couple months.

The only AC game I've ever played was Rouge as a free game on GWG for Xbox 360. I enjoyed it for a few good hours but for some reason stopped playing it. I want to give the series another go this time (obviously on the Switch) and I am not sure what game would get me back to it. I've heard some good things about this from a good friend/classmate when we worked on a company together sometime during the early PS3/X360 era. Maybe I'll check this one out.

Re: Best Of 2021: Remember When People Thought Switch Would Fail?

I didn't read much gaming media when the Switch was released. Actually thought it was a pretty cool idea and perfect for my needs. My kid was getting started into gaming at that time and I had trouble finishing games on the X360 due to lack of tv time. The hybrid concept was everything I wanted on a console. Co-op anytime, handheld anytime or play on the tv if you wish. Only doubts I had is how it would actually work.

Re: Nintendo Minute's Kit And Krysta Say Goodbye In Their "Final Episode"

I like watching videos on my switch news feed and their show was one that I looked forward to. My daughter also likes them and we were kinda sad hearing its their last episode. Only got a switch late 2019 so I never saw any of their earlier vids. I thought they did a good job given the bounds of Nintendo PR and their chemistry was pretty good too.

@Krambo42 Yup, no harm in trying this one. The new footage actually looks much better compared to the brief showcase on the apple event a while back. Its not AAA but it could be fun in short spurts. Besides, F2P shooters are usually better than full priced shooters these days when it comes to online play. Much larger playerbase, contionous support/updates/content and game balancing usually results to a better gameplay experience.

Re: Talking Point: Great Game, Poor Performance - When Does A Bad Frame Rate Not Really Matter?

Honestly I couldn't tell the difference between 30 and 60 fps most of the time. All the while I thought Splatoon 2 was 60fps and I thought it ran 60fps smooth even on intense turf war gameplay. Its only because I read a lot of gaming media in recent times, which started during the pandemic, that I tend to consider these things now when buying games. Ultimately doesn't affect my enjoyment in any way. More importantly, I make sure that games don't suffer from crashing and glitches before I buy them.

I wonder what kind of options are being added to the menu. Haven't really tinkered with it. Hopeful that this becomes successful enough that they do a SMTV sequel or DLC expansion. I do think its possible since IV had Apocalypse. I'm probably thinking way ahead though as the game just launched but I am pretty sure I will want more after finishing the game.

Re: Sega Trademarks The Name 'Sonic Frontiers'

@andykara2003 no worries. Actually I see where you are coming from. I think that gameplay was never really Sonic's strong suit. There's this Netflix documentary about gaming history that explains how Sega conceptualized Sonic to combat Mario & Nintendo. It was built heavily on character design marketability and eye candy action-oriented gameplay.

@andykara2003 I'm not really sure because I liked Sonic 2 and Sonic and Knuckles when I was a kid but it could be because everyone else in school did. I also remember I enjoyed the isometric spinoff game very much (forgot the title). The recent ones I am hesitant to try since the core Sonic gameplay is not really my thing and, in my opinion, has not aged very well. Strangely the one I remember that I enjoyed the most is Sonic 4 EP1 on the iPhone 3GS. For some reason I can't seem to explain, its really hard to hate on Sonic maybe because the character is just so likable.
