Got this recently on a steam sale. Don't really get the hate. Star wars fans are hard to please I think. Agree with the writer here, its a chill game that doesn't pressure you to do stuff and freely roaming around the open world is satisfying. Its my go to game to unwind after a tiring day.
Playing through Yakuza 0 on my PC and Yakuza 6 on the PS4. Glad I held off on Kiwami on a Steam sale as it will be perfect for some late night sessions on the Switch before going to bed. Quite a surprising announcement and I wonder how much of the series will be coming to the console moving forward.
@MH4 Got back into Fortnite last season since I kinda grew tired of same ol' Apex Legends. Really like the fact that they're not afraid to shake up the meta. Last season it was Nitro Fists all the way, with vehicles being extremely overpowered too. Took a few games to get used to the new gimmicks for this season but it started to click and I seem to be enjoying it. There's more variety in terms of playstyles and speedbuilding in tight end rings is relevant again.
Probably the stupidest update that ruined twitter or x for me was when they restricted browser accessibility when not logged into the platform. Obviously these tech giants want you to stay logged in every time and with all permissions from your phone apps enabled. I miss those days when you can freely browse twitter or reddit without using an account.
Finally we get some real news! I've been tempted to get a steam deck 64gb model or a windows handheld within that price range but I think I'm gonna hold back wait for details regarding the new Switch.
@Poco_Lypso @Sculptor On the same boat here. I kinda stopped buying games with the exception of splurging on the occasional sale since I can't find the time to finish them. Binged a lot during covid times though but the last long game I was able to finish was Xenoblade 3. Really want to get this definitive SMTV but its likely gonna get buried in my backlog anyway.
Bought the OG as a preorder back then and I really enjoyed it. Was pretty excited to see this on the Direct as I thought Switch owners could get it as a DLC. No point in buying it again full price. I'll wait for a deep sale on Steam instead also for better resolution and framerates.
@burninmylight I'm not sure how they'll implement the limited time trial but I got this on a sale from a while back. Spent a total of maybe about 10 hours or so already but I feel like I'm so far away from experiencing all the cool updates and content from the expansions. It makes me lazy to get back into it as a result so this Omega content I highly doubt that a new player will get access to it in a span of a few days.
I'm gonna buy it and give it a go this weekend. I have a feeling I'll have a better time with this than Pokemon Violet, about 70% cheaper too. By the way, popular Poketubers that my daughter follow have covered this in the past and I assumed it was a game for kicks. Despite some of the creature designs looking like ripoffs, I think this has a place and provides a healthy alternative and competiton.
@5th313ment @Highlar Thanks for the heads up. I use standby/sleep mode a lot so this is very important to me. Sounds like its a great port though and I'll definitely get this sometime in the future. Really glad I skipped on the older Borderlands titles as I already have them on Steam. Almost bought them on a recent sale cause it really goes cheap these days.
I completely regret buying this game as the 2nd pick from my NSO vouchers after getting Splatoon 3. Really enjoyed Arceus and my daughter played Gen 8 to death with the DLC so I thought it would be a good buy. Hard pass on the DLC.
I currently play all the 3 games on my Switch (2nd playthrough for P4G and P5R coming from other platforms). I'm interested in the Persona 4 physical but maybe I'm better off getting some merch instead. I'm sure these will run out very quickly since there are a lot of SMT/Persona collectors.
@DogDetective That would be impossible. I assume that 6.6GB gets you to launch the title screen and you will be prompted to install all the content there like a mobile game lol
Looking forward to the Eastward DLC, TTYD and maybe the Side Order DLC. Need to see more details on that one. It seems like a roguelike type of gameplay similar to Risk of Rain?
@calbeau still using my 3 year old Daemon X Machina edition everyday with no issues. I never use motion controls and I hate vibrating controllers regardless of console so the split pad is my favorite way to game. I kinda want the form factor of the compact but have yet to justify the purchase since the old one still serves me well.
RIP. Rayman Legends was one of my favorite games in my old Xbox 360. This guy is about the same age as me. Very tragic and prayers to his family and loved ones.
Are they selling these individually or packaged only? Not sure what I want to play as I've only got limited gaming time nowadays. As with graphics and performance not that worried since I'm not picky. Currently enjoying Cyberpunk on my PS4 slim and I think it looks decent despite all the hate it gets.
You can basically do the same thing with your phone using the remoteplay app and a good dual band wifi router. I've used a cheap Dualshock phone holder to stream games from my PS4 with some success and if I had a PS5, I would prefer to play in a beautiful 4k big a** screen.
@Sir_Axeman Would be content on having a portable device as powerful as a PS4. Haven't tried any of the PC handhelds but based on what I've seen on Youtube with devices such as Steam Deck and AYANEO, games on it look and run similarly to a base PS4. Nintendo would have to use similar chips to make the next console reasonably priced so I think this is a good prediction.
Still playing my Switch and Lite daily just to tackle backlog but for me I'm good with 1st party games after getting Splatoon 3 back in December except for maybe the XC3 DLC. Definitely my fave console of all time but I really think its time for a successor. I've been less excited every year and I think I already have all the games I want on this system (Persona ports were icing on the cake). Even though I still lurk and buy on the occasional eshop sale, I also find myself booting up my PS4 more often as of late to play games like Yakuza, Destiny and Cyberpunk 2077.
@Nintendo4Sonic Haven't played since last month due to taking a break from paying NSO sub but I feel that the difficulty of online matches especially during Splatfests has increased significantly since 2. I wanted to introduce my wife to the game but there's just too many sweats in lobbies for a beginner player. There should be SBMM in my opinion to calibrate skill level more optimally thus making matches more enjoyable. A big reason I'm losing interest is that matches are too sweaty that trying different weapons, abilities and playstyles become too discouraging. I can only find success in maybe 2 types of loadouts and it gets boring not being able to mix it up.
This is one of the better f2p shooters out there but sadly it didn't become as popular as other offerings from bigger AAA studios. I have a lot of memories playing this game during the pandemic and even met people online that led to gaming sessions on other games as well. Sad to see it leave the Switch but totally understandable as the playerbase continues to dwindle by the minute. Good thing I have cross save on my Steam and PS4 accounts so I get to keep the Rogues and skins I've earned.
My daughter would be all over this 3-4 years ago. Saw some gameplay footage of this and I thought it was quite decent. Might as well get it for myself on a deep sale then
It's quite expensive just to get the standard physical ed. but when I looked at Steam and Google Play, it seems that the price is more or less the same when you buy them all individually. I'm only interested in getting FFVI so I will wait for it to go on a reasonably priced sale as there are loads of other stuff to play anyway. P3P and P4G coming on January as well and it's pretty cheap compared to this.
@kalosn for some reason FFXII and Halo 4 comes to mind as these games came late into the PS2 and XBOX360 lifecycle. They were ambitious and pushed the respective consoles to the limit. I enjoyed them a lot and I think this is how games turn out when there is a certain level of mastery when developers get used to a certain piece of hardware/platform. Good games with enjoyable gameplay but has potential to be better on a device with improved specs. Same could probably be said about Xenoblade for the Wii tho I never experienced that myself.
Really looking forward to this after Nier, P5R, Splatoon 3 I will buy NMS. No more extra funds and time right now but I am pleased with all these great releases. I will never run out of games to play! 😂
@Snatcher @WallyWest I have it on my PS4 but been playing on mobile about 90% of the time. I would say its beautiful and smooth (maybe a few dips here and there) in Playstation but the load times are horrible. I probably do some difficult boss fights there for more precision but the daily grind and RPG stuff in general I prefer to do it handheld. Love this game btw and co-op with my 10yo daughter whose in PC for at least an hour every day. A Switch port would be most welcome but not really necessary for me. It would be great for more people to experience the game though.
Compare it to Apex Legends and the unlock system here is brutal. Given that OW players were used to the premium model already then this one is hard to stomach.
@TDRsuperstar2 It was like that for me the previous days and only got in once. Today I was instantly put into a lobby though. Sadly none of my OW1 stuff are present. I assume you've got more stuff than me since I didn't really spend a lot of time playing it. Hoping this is a temporary problem.
Without reading the numbers specifically, it seems that this Switch version runs better than the OW1. Haven't played it since late last year I think but seems like I was able to link a battle.net account back then. Sad to say none of my progression/skins etc. has carried over yet. I am hoping this will be resolved since they said OW1 players would be able to keep some stuff at least. What I like about them applying the F2P model is that getting into matches is sooo much easier this time around.
@Chocobo_Shepherd Same with me. All I've been playing recently is Genshin on my phone and XC3. So many games I want to get and play with so little time on my hands. I would probably wait for a sale on this one. Want to see more towns before committing.
@anoyonmus I give props to EA as well. They gave us proper ports of Lost in Random, NFS, PvZ and Apex Legends. I supported and spent money on those titles and will be doing the same with this game but will wait for a small discount on the eshop.
@DTfeartheBEARD Not sure about this but I think the friend's pass will allow local wireless option without needing a 2nd purchase. I am buying it for the first time to co-op with my wife on her lite if that is the case. Has potential to be our next Overcooked!
Really liking the demo so far. Too many games I want to buy though with Persona (which could probably wait since I have it on PS4), Splatoon 3, No Mans Sky, Nier, Sonic Frontiers and now this. Like many others I found the protagonist choices weird at first but then playing a lot of Genshin recently actually made me think they are just poorly done versions of Aether and Lumine. I don't care about it since I found the gameplay, art style and music clicking with me so far. I think it has that older gen Final Fantasy charm but its farming first and rpg second. Ain't complaining about graphics as well and I think the quality is just a couple notches below DQXIS. What bothers me is the lack of voice acting though.
Never played any Fire Emblem games and I'm not familiar with much of its history, but when I saw the trailer I thought it was a spinoff game, not mainline. It got me a little interested though as the new motif suits my taste better. I would get why longtime fans would be upset though. Still interested in playing Three Houses sometime in the future as I've heard nothing but great things bout it!
@thehoppypoppy on the same boat as you. Not a lot of income to spare as of late so I'll probably be getting this later this year if not the next. I have XC3 and lots of games on my backlog which I hoarded from steep eshop discounts to keep me busy. I would've gotten this at launch though if I had the money since I played Splatoon 2 for close to 200 hrs and it was one of my fave games. No point in waiting for a discount though cause it almost never happens on 1st party stuff!
Love the Xenoblade icons. I'm getting most of the characters but a lot of the heroes I don't know them yet and don't wanna spoil the story by looking them up!
I would say its a remake the same way the new RE2 and RE3 were remakes.
I dunno much about the FF7 remakes cause I only played it for an hour when I subbed to a 1 month trial of PS Plus. However, based on the comments here and feedback in general, there were so much changes from the original FF7 that it's difficult to consider it a remake since its almost entirely different. The short time I played I don't even know what it was since it reminded me very little of the original FF7. I'd say it's more of an Advent Children prequel perhaps?
I hope XC3 keeps the momentum and exceeds company expectations. A masterpiece of a game which I think is the culmination of all things that makes this series so good. With the 15 hours I've spent so far, I think that this will go down as the best game on the Switch system for me. It also addresses my main complaint about its predecessors which is the plot, characters and worldbuilding. This game is Persona 5 and Final Fantasy X levels when it comes to that regard. Also the freedom in combat/builds, as well as a much improved and coherent battle system puts the icing on the cake.
Can't wait for launch day! The story, cast and emotional feel as well as its relatable themes during these present times. I'm looking forward to an epic journey. This game couldn't have come at a better time IMO.
Fun game. Honestly I have not played BotW so I cannot compare. Found the combat in Immortals FR is one of its highlights. Also liked the humor which is probably a hit or miss depending on one's taste. I will probably get BotW sometime in the future but there's just so many games keeping me busy.
Persona, Nier, Bayonetta and this. I won't have enough money to buy all of them so I'd have to choose two and the rest will follow when my wallet gets a refill!
Really looking forward to this one. I've been watching a lot of car camping and day in the life Youtube videos in rural Japan as of late and this is just the life sim that I need now. I love everything they've shown so far and it looks like a passion project that I would gladly support.
@calbeau nice meeting a fellow countryman here! For some reason Nintendo home console presence here was kinda weak IMO after the SNES. The Switch is my first Nintendo home console after the SNES since Playstation basically took over with the PS1 era onwards. Really glad to see Nintendo making a comeback here and in this gen I just realized how much I missed their first party games.

Re: Review: Xenoblade Chronicles 3 - An Epic, Emotionally-Charged Masterpiece
Can't wait for launch day! The story, cast and emotional feel as well as its relatable themes during these present times. I'm looking forward to an epic journey. This game couldn't have come at a better time IMO.
Re: Rumour: Immortals Fenyx Rising Spin-Off Will Be "Less Of A Copy Of Breath Of The Wild"
Fun game. Honestly I have not played BotW so I cannot compare. Found the combat in Immortals FR is one of its highlights. Also liked the humor which is probably a hit or miss depending on one's taste. I will probably get BotW sometime in the future but there's just so many games keeping me busy.
Re: No Man's Sky's New Endurance Update Confirmed For The Ever-Expanding Switch Port
Persona, Nier, Bayonetta and this. I won't have enough money to buy all of them so I'd have to choose two and the rest will follow when my wallet gets a refill!
Re: Exclusive: "The Farming Genre Is A Bit Tired" - How SunnySide Aims To Refresh The Farm Sim
Really looking forward to this one. I've been watching a lot of car camping and day in the life Youtube videos in rural Japan as of late and this is just the life sim that I need now. I love everything they've shown so far and it looks like a passion project that I would gladly support.
Re: Video: What Was Your First Video Game Ever?
@calbeau nice meeting a fellow countryman here! For some reason Nintendo home console presence here was kinda weak IMO after the SNES. The Switch is my first Nintendo home console after the SNES since Playstation basically took over with the PS1 era onwards. Really glad to see Nintendo making a comeback here and in this gen I just realized how much I missed their first party games.
