Re: Where To Pre-Order Bayonetta 3 On Switch

Octane_st1m

Looks like this is gonna be the first Platinum hack n slash I play in a long time. I haven't really dived back into the genre since the PS2 and only got a little taste of the Metal Gear spinoff on Xbox 360 as a free game on a Gold sub. I was thinking of getting Nier first but the Switch release is so close to this one and with Bayo 3 obviously the fresher experience in this genre. Planning on getting Astral Chain for quite a while now as well. I heard they are all short games so maybe I can play a couple of them this year.

Re: Splatoon 3 Introduces New Multiplayer Map 'Mincemeat Metalworks'

Octane_st1m

@Ventus I'm with you on this! Only wanted to replay the Splatfest levels with my daughter via private play but we don't have 6 other people to start a private lobby. Its nearly impossible to do a private lobby in Splatoon 2. Maybe just make it so that 2 players are the minimum then you can add bots or something.

Re: Nintendo Direct Mini To Air Tomorrow, June 28

Octane_st1m

Actually I'm glad its focused on 3rd party announcements. The 1st party lineup for the year is already pretty hefty. Really hoping for Persona 3 Portable as its the only game missing in my collection. I wonder if we get some RE Revelations 3 news as well.

Re: No Man's Sky For Nintendo Switch Gets A Firm Release Date

Octane_st1m

Honestly I don't care how it runs at launch. I am confident with these guys knowing how much they love their product. Been wanting to play this game for a while now but its perfect on handheld so I will wait for the Switch version. Day one physical for me given the massive content it has already.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Direct To Take Place Later This Month

Octane_st1m

I will be excited for a new direct but I don't need one cause I'm broke. There's Xenoblade 3 and Splatoon 3 coming up soon so that's my gaming budget for the next few months. If they do announce the Persona ports, which is still up in the air, I am only interested in getting P3 Portable since I already have the other ones in Steam and PS4. Don't have any more money to double dip.

Re: Marvel's Midnight Suns Coming In October, Switch Logo Missing From New Trailer

Octane_st1m

@Severus_Snape Haven't played the remaster but I had Mass Effect 3 on a budget PC I had some 15 years ago. I saw some footage of the remaster and I think it's not too demanding on hardware so I agree with you here. I am playing the Crysis 3 remaster on my Switch and Switch Lite right now and its so damn good. If games like this could look and run well on the Switch then its not impossible for the hardware given that a dev/publisher is interested and motivated enough.

Re: Marvel's Midnight Suns Coming In October, Switch Logo Missing From New Trailer

Octane_st1m

@PhantomD @JasmineDragon Every other publication mentions the Switch version to come at a later date. Not sure if this is official PR but one site quotes it as such. I'm not too worried about it being cancelled. Its just a case of Doom Eternal and Life is Strange that it needs more time in the oven. Probably they are working with a 3rd party porting company like Panic or Saber.

Re: Retro-Styled RPG Eastward Gets Physical Edition, Vinyl Soundtrack, And TWO Board Games

Octane_st1m

@twztid13 LOL just saw your comment. I don't think it will go lower than 10%off anytime soon. I highly recommend it though since I think the price is reasonable. Not really a fan of classic Zelda but I liked the gameplay on this one. There are some great boss fights and the environments+soundtrack is really really good. Combat is simple and snappy. Check out the SwitchUp review as it might convince you Its extremely linear though and there is no backtracking which might turn away some ppl.

Re: Soapbox: Leaving The Comfort Zone - A Quest To Find My New Favourite Games

Octane_st1m

I have RPG fatigue as of the moment. Bought I am Setsuna and started it then I have to drag myself to get any progress done. Before this I took a pause on XCDE as I got stuck on a boss in chapter 10 due to an underlevelled team despite grinding a bunch of sidequests. Also got DQ11s on a deep sale, progressed up to acquiring Sylvando's ship and then lost interest shortly after.

Last year I finished SMT III and V, then also got close to both Persona 4 and 5 endgame dungeons. I also finished FFXII Zodiac on the Switch after taking a year long break. I will probably go back to the Persona games and finish it soon. The story, characters and gameplay loop of the SMT related stuff is what I want from RPGs now.

For casual everyday gaming I think what I need right now is a good single player shooter or action game. Really enjoyed Halo and RE games on the previous console gen. On the Switch I played a lot of Immortals FR when it came out because its really easy to pick up and play. Might try Crysis 3 since its on sale right now. I'm getting burned out with RPGs. My daughter is also getting into Ace Atty and Danganronpa which I find interesting too. Might play those games in the evening during my wind down. I also have a collection of indies I bought from eshop sales that I'm looking to get back into.

Re: The Aya Neo Air Is An OLED-Packing Handheld That Can Run Cyberpunk 2077 And GTA V

Octane_st1m

I might consider this if it is indeed sold where I am at the promised price point and given that I can connect it to a monitor for PC functionality. Its about the price of a decent laptop and Valve likely can't/won't expand to our region with the Steam Deck so it won't have any competition. I've seen sellers here locally carrying Aya Neo products so I am hopeful this becomes available.

Re: Koei Tecmo's Touken Ranbu Warriors Gets Free Demo On Switch Today

Octane_st1m

@ModdedInkling @nilcam Persona 5 Strikers is a bit different than the typical warriors game and one of my fave games on the Switch. If you like JRPGs then it might be worth a try since its like a hybrid of the two genres. I tried Age of Calamity demo but not really a Zelda guy so it didn't really click with me. For some reason I'm kinda interested in this one though and will try out the demo. Doubt that I'll be hooked enough to buy it especially at full price.

Re: Fall Guys Is Going Free-To-Play, Comes To Switch This Summer With Cross-Play And A Huge Update

Octane_st1m

I got the game on PS Plus during a rare time I subscribed to the service during the pandemic. So if I resubscribe for a month and open the game on my PS4, does that mean I can get the legacy pack? Then I can link my Switch account and get the goodies via cross-save? Anyway I am happy with this announcement and for sure will enjoy playing this with my family as we all have our own Switches.

Re: Feature: Games That Got Us Through Tough Times

Octane_st1m

Reading the comments section making me tear up. Prayers and well wishes to all those going through tough times. As some may have already mentioned, its also wise to be mindful of your playtime as too much escapism can also affect you negatively. Been rough past couple of months for my mental health but these are some of the games that I've been playing:

1. Pokemon Legends Arceus - Perfect for a quick escape from reality.
2. Apex Legends - To take out anger and frustration. Too much can lead to anxiety and confusion so I try to control my playtime here.
3. Xenoblade Chronicles DE - Big world to get lost into and some of the cast members and story can make you feel inspired/motivated.
4. Dreamscaper - Very relatable but hard to progress if you suck at roguelikes.
5. Persona 4G and 5R - The best game(s) that I happened to stumble upon during these lockdowns. So many relatable characters and situations to make you reflect on past experiences.
6. Spiritfarer - Again relatable characters and story perfect for self-reflection.
7. I am Setsuna - Just bought recently and so far the story driven experience along with the charming cast of characters and somehow calm setting despite the hostilities makes me relaxed playing it at night.
8. Eastward - Beat it last year but I find its a similar experience to Setsuna.
9. Animal Crossing - Great source of good vibes. If only I can live in my ACNH island in real life then I'm content and at peace.

Re: Meet The Switch Controller That Promises 'No Drifting, Ever'

Octane_st1m

@RubyCarbuncle My Xbox 360 controllers still work fine to this day. I've played hundreds of hours with it on shooter games such as Halo and it never suffered from analog stick problems.

@tka060681 Dualshock 4 controllers, in my experience, are the worst. 3 out of 4 that I own suffer from analog problems, either drifting or responsiveness issues.

Re: Meet The Switch Controller That Promises 'No Drifting, Ever'

Octane_st1m

I've successfully replaced the left analog stick from my 2+ yrs old Switch lite with a Gulikit Elves branded one. Its been working nicely for the past couple months. The original left stick weren't suffering from drift but its become unresponsive to forward movement after about a year of heavy use and got worse by the day. I am not sure how long this replacement will work flawlessly but the company does claim it has reinforced components so time will tell if this is indeed true.

Re: EA's Live Service Battle Royale Game Has Now Generated $2 Billion In Earnings

Octane_st1m

@Sunsy Didn't know the box had an actual disc! Now I want a copy even though the game would probably be a very outdated version which is probably pointless but still! Got a Lifeline edition for the PS4 back on season 4 I think during a half priced sale. Bought Octane ed. on launch day for the Switch which I kinda regret since the Pathfinder ed. is so much better, but I'm obviously an Octane main lol. Never spent any money on the limited time skins since you can craft them with materials earned from battle passes and events so you'd have enough for at least one or two if you save them up.

Re: Live A Live Switch Remake Took "Three Years" To Make, Says Original Director

Octane_st1m

@SteamEngenius on the same boat with regards to the Triangle Strategy demo. I don't really mind the gameplay but the story is a yawnfest. Not sure if you've tried the Octopath demo but it should be long enough to find out if its to your liking. Live A Live though might be the first HD-2D game that I buy though since it looks varied enough that I don't lose interest mid game.

Re: Feature: 11 Switch Games To Play During Mental Health Awareness Month

Octane_st1m

@RendoFonzarelli I just realized this recently myself. Been limiting my screen time as of late due to the terrible habits I've developed over these lockdowns. I play on shorter sessions now and avoid gaming/phones before bedtime to improve my sleep hygiene. They aren't the main culprits of insomnia and anxiety but poor gaming/screentime habits can definitely contribute.

Re: Feature: 11 Switch Games To Play During Mental Health Awareness Month

Octane_st1m

Just the list I needed as I've been going through my own struggles as of late. Definitely will check out To The Moon as it looks like something I can relate to these days. I would recommend Spiritfarer if you're looking for some sort of healing and life insights etc. Haven and Dreamscaper (though I suck at rogue-likes and finding it hard to progress) are also nice for calming the mind. Persona 5 Royal with its extra content adds a some mental health themes would be nice but its not on the Switch lol.

Re: Don't Worry, Genshin Impact Is "Still In Development" For Nintendo Switch

Octane_st1m

@UltimateOtaku91 I don't play that much but I've had my account since launch day on PS4 and when the wife got me a new/capable phone this year I started playing it again. I agree with you and for me its the best f2p mobile game hands down. Can't find anything else worthy of my time on mobile. Cross progression also works great and should the Switch version get a release sometime I would definitely play it for easier controls in handheld. Very demanding on the phone specs though so I understand why the port is taking longer than expected
