One of the many Square Enix titles on display at Nintendo's September Direct broadcast was the farming sim RPG Harvestella.
If you have been eager to try this one out, you're in luck. Ahead of its November release on the Switch, a demo has now been made available on the Switch eShop.
Some of the other games Square Enix showed off in the latest Direct broadcast included Various Daylife, Crisis Core and Octopath Traveler II. Will you be trying out Harvestella on Switch? Tell us below.

Yeap will give this one a try first thing this weekend right after I finish with the DioField Chronicle demo.
Its a really fun demo!
Playing the Harvestella demo right now. Very peaceful and pretty and it seems like it may have a good plot for a farming sim.
I hate it.
Only two models, but they are both girls but yet you can have a guy's grunt?? Bizarre. It felt more like an action rpg with a mini farm than a farming sim, the towns people don't even have a name, only the storyline people.
Though I'm only on day 5 so the next 10 days could get better for me.
Edit: I forgot to mention the time is SUPER fast hope in the full version there is difficulty option to change it, because right now has it stressful. Atleast 5-10 minutes could make one feel less stressed if they get lost or want to explore without feeling they did nothing the whole day.
Looking fwd to giving it a spin.
Enjoying it so far. Story is more out there than I expected.
I finished the demo last night, it's a very good game. It can be a bit difficult if you go exploring without some food in your inventory. And there is no real way (in the demo at least) to make food.
I might pick the game up on release, but it's releasing in a very crowded spot (Pokémon and Bayonetta also releasing around that time), so I might wait for a sale.
The game looks amazing, wow that second trailer! That's the one that should've been in the Direct!
I really want to try out the demo, but I'm scared that the farming part of the game will be too much, I'm not really into that stuff... As an RPG looks amazing, though.
Won't be trying it on Switch, but I'll try it on the PC.
Definitely checking it out.
From the newest trailer, seems like more of an action rpg than a farming sim, but that's ok with me. Tons of farming sims to choose from these days.
Imagine what Eric Barone could do with a farming sim game if he had this kind of resources at his disposal. Honestly, he'd probably struggle given how he likes to do most of the work himself. But, it's fun to consider how he might push the genre into new directions while having a AAA level of polish.
ooooh, maybe even just an HD-2D visual on top of his art style. THAT could be interesting and still keep with his design approach. Would you re-buy SDV if it was HD-2D? hmmm
Does anyone else think the music in the 2nd trailer feels like Nier? Is it just me? I need to find out who the composer is, because if it happens to be the same composer then it's an instant buy!
@Waka_the_Prophet Thank you. Stardew is good but nothing Bokumono fans haven’t seen before.
@Uska The differences are very subtle but the stance is what defines the male or female character. I think the top 4 are male and the bottom 4 female. Or vice versa.
I'm really enjoying the game. Time management is tricky but do-able. Plenty of food is given to you during the demo and fast travel helps. Can't wait for Nov 4!
@Ulysses
Yes the woman singing instantly reminded me of Nier. I googled the composers and they seem to be different people. But they both made music for the Tekken series. Maybe they became like colleagues or something and are in touch with each other or became friends, who knows.
Music is easily the best part of Square Enix games.
@Jhena That's a fascinating coincidence! Do you think they even could have been rivals in school? Regardless, you can definitely hear a faint relation between their compositional styles, when you listen to this vocal track and Nier's.
And I cannot agree more about Square Enix's music. Say what you want about their ability to write a good story depending on the franchise or game, but above all, Square Enix prides themselves in their artwork, and that includes their music. Few other publishers consistently generate such high quality music, let alone opening an entire branch dedicated to managing it.
Downloaded the demo and played through the Prologue last night. Definitely getting the 'generic plot' and 'lame dialog' vibes so far. Will probably play a bit of the farming, but really tired of JRPGs with pretty graphics and music but whose plot and dialogue seem to have been written by amateurs. And based on some other comments above, sounds like it could be a tedious grind as well. Will see how it reviews.
@k8sMum then thats the most lazy designs ever. Both models look afab, just different muscle masses.
@Uska
What you're saying is fair. This is a demo so I guess we can hope for some changes before release.
I was really excited because of the trailers but the demo cured me fast. Lets put aside the character creation which is terrible to the point some people on Reddit thought its bugged. But the game looks awful, sooo blurry. I suppose all the published trailers were captured on PC.
Really liking the demo so far. Too many games I want to buy though with Persona (which could probably wait since I have it on PS4), Splatoon 3, No Mans Sky, Nier, Sonic Frontiers and now this. Like many others I found the protagonist choices weird at first but then playing a lot of Genshin recently actually made me think they are just poorly done versions of Aether and Lumine. I don't care about it since I found the gameplay, art style and music clicking with me so far. I think it has that older gen Final Fantasy charm but its farming first and rpg second. Ain't complaining about graphics as well and I think the quality is just a couple notches below DQXIS. What bothers me is the lack of voice acting though.
@k8sMum Sorry if I came off to harsh, I get way too passionate over lifesim/farmsims and got fed up with the lack of familiarity of what I expected and thinking back I might of tossed aside being understanding...
What I actually did like was environment, love the unicorn, and the music was calming my anger. I had quit playing so I looked at the rest of the art and omg, immaculate food art.
And this game is probably hoping to be different from the others in this genre.
@Uska
Your post was fine, calling out a legitimate concern.
I've started another file and there are more differences between the characters. I'm playing it on a 55" tv and it doesn't look blurry to me as someone else said. I'm enjoying the game and have high hopes for the finished version.
