Fast Racing Neo has to rank as one of our favourite Wii U titles and has successfully scratched that "F-Zero" itch - which is good, because Nintendo has shown very little interest in resurrecting its legendary anti-grav racing series for the modern age.
If you've also enjoyed this superb title then you'll be pleased to know that more content is on the way, and developer Shin'en has been showing off new courses from the forthcoming Neo Future DLC pack at Gamescom 2016.
IGN was lucky enough to go hands-on and has captured around 13 minutes of footage, which you can view above. Let us know what you think by posting a comment.

Can we play the courses online? Not that I can ever get a match...
I'd love a Captain Falcon's Blue Falcon car as DLC if Nintendo ever permitted it.
Looks great. Will buy the physical release.
This looks amazing, and given how high the quality of the base game was, I'm sure Shin'en will be able to it justice with this DLC, not sure if I'm going to pick up the physical version, though, seems a bit redundant since I bought the game day-one. I wonder what the price will be?
I bought the game day 1, but i will buy the retail disc instead of the DLC.
Awesome hopefully the DLC will be on the physical version out next month.
How many new tracks will we get and at what price?
Gimme, gimme, gimme!
I havent played this game for weeks, cause it needed an update for some trackt. Is it already issued?
This cup looks really fun as well as the other cup shown in the eshop trailer (Zenshoh Habitat, Antartica, Kuiper Belt, The Haze).
I'm totally getting physical too despite getting it digitally at launch like I did with Shovel Knight.
Speaking of Shovel Knight, I wonder when King Knight and Specter Knight campaigns will be released.
i can already see where i'll be swearing out loud after i crash there, each and every single lap.
@Tsurii : Oh.. so the tracks is free. I want this game on shelve, but i will pay max 20 bucks for retail.
Free?? That's awesome. Tracks look great and seems like they added new music to an already incredible soundtrack.
Probably buy the disc too as shelf candy, but will only seriously race on the download so as not to have to re-establish some hard fought achievements.
BTW, the game (esp. with new tracks) is easily worth $40 to any racing game fan. Shin'en did a FANTASTIC job.
Who said this would be free?
I like the idea of releasing stuff like this for free.
Essentially, you're riding up buzz and anticipation again when adding new content, and you're helping make your package more enticing for people who never bought into the game for content related reasons.
I think these are worth more than only selling to a percentage of rou already established audience.
Still haven't gotten this game; I've been on the fence about it for a long time. Now with a physical release and DLC tracks though, I've finally decided I want this. Hopefully the physical copy will come out soon! And I hope the online will still be active...
Been wanting to play it, but I can't get it due to cash and garbage home internet. One of those tracks looks a lot like the old Big Blue pipe.
One of the best games on the eshop. Easily worth $40 or $50 with the DLC. This was an excellent effort by shinen. Can't wait for this DLC to release.
Erm, is it just me or is this just Wipeout from PSone but with better graphics for Wii U?
Sweeeeeet. I love this game. It'll be great to have an excuse to get sucked into it again.
@Tsurii awesome .
Does anyone know if the physical release has been confirmed for North American markets yet? This DLC looks hype! Will be getting this day one!
@Bunkerneath It's just you. FAST plays nothing like WipEout. It is also not a F-Zero clone. FAST is pretty much it's own thing and that's great.
I hope they are working on "FAST Racing 3" for NX already.
Sorry but can I just point out that Shin'en have not said it will be free.
If anyone can speak German, this interview will tell you the price. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SYe_gnYN0NE
Google's auto translation subtitles are iffy as hell, but I gathered the DLC will cost somewhere between 5-10 Euro. But we really need a German speaker to get an accurate translation.
@A01 Yes, the DLC will cost money but there was no price confirmed (Martin Sauter simply didn't know but said they will confirm via twitter) and the interviewer basically just speculated.
5-10 euro does seem reasonable though.
Besides that they just confirmed already announced facts: retail version includes DLC and will release september 30th for 24,99 euro.
Was also asked about games for NX but stressed that he was simply not allowed to talk about it. He did say they were very happy working with nintendo and that they want to release games on their platforms in the future too.
what is the release date for the retail version ?
I still haven't even played Fast Racing Neo despite downloading it months ago. I really need to give it a try.
I really liked this game, but ultimately the lack of a mini map bothered me to no end. No matter how far I thought I was out in front it seemed every time I made a minor mistake I was passed up by a car directly behind me. Felt like the game was cheating.
@getyourak They added a map in an update, it is turned off by default. I don't use myself, it's nigh impossible for me to concentrate on the race and also focus on a tiny map on the screen with everything moving so damn fast. This game sure delivers on its moniker. I love it but playing it for an hour straight really tires my brain, it's insanely demanding, a worthy heir to F-Zero GX.
Just sitting here waiting for news of a physical release for NA...
This is the first time I'm even hearing about a DLC pack. What's in it? When was it announced? Does it have a release date?
Really great game. I do miss the guitar licks and Rock Soundtrack F-Zero X used to have f. ex.
Looks good but I don't want to add dlc to my massive backlog right now.
DLC, seriously? How about they patch out those game-breaking bugs first? AFAIK, the 1.1 update didn't adress wrong finish positions, online lag, no lobbys or any way to choose with whom to play etc.
I won't pay a single cent for a content DLC as long as the game is buggy as hell.
@CanisWolfred 8 new tracks and is due to match the release of the retail version.
New Zendling in particular looks amazing.
@Samurai_Goroh - What retail version? This is the first time I've heard of that, too...I even checked the tags, none of that was reported on NLife...
@CanisWolfred https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2016/07/nindie_favourites_coming_to_wii_u_disc_under_nintendo_eshop_selects_label
Comes 30th September for 24.99 Euros and the 8 new tracks are included in the disc. The DLC will also be sold on the eShop for those who chose the digital version, but no price was revealed so far.
@Samurai_Goroh - That was barely a footnote on there, but whatever, Shin'en's website told me all the important details. I don't know why I suddenly expected this webite to be good at reporting video game news...I mean, how long have I frequented this place? I really should know better by now...
I didn't like this game, but it was a solid effort. i guess i might have a reason to try it again
This will make me cry out frustration again when I hit an obstacle a few turns before the end and get thrown back to last place.... but first day download of course!
I have a huge front log! Lol seriously thougjh this game looks great!
