Nintendo has revealed a brand new Switch console bundle set to arrive at retail next month featuring Fortnite as its cover star. The bundle will contain extra goodies to help players get started in the game.
That's right, on 5th October, this bundle arrives in stores including a Nintendo Switch system, 1,000 V-bucks (in-game Fortnite currency) and the Double Helix Set - a cosmetic collection consisting of a unique Character Outfit, Back Bling, Glider, and Pickaxe.
Of course, these V-Bucks are just enough to purchase a Battle Pass, which can unlock an entire season's worth of additional in-game content, or can alternatively be used to purchase other in-game items. The bundle comes with a suggested retail price of $299.99 - essentially meaning that the in-game currency and items are included as a free bonus for new Switch buyers. The game itself can already be downloaded free of charge for all users from the Nintendo eShop.
What do you think of this new bundle? Do you expect countless buyers to be sucked in by the Fortnite branding? Let us know your thoughts below.

Nice move.
This is a smart business decision, even if the game is free in the first place.
It's unbelievable how different Nintendo are now compared to the Wii U days. This could be an effective bundle for the holiday season. It's nice to see them thinking outside of their norms.
@Nintendofan83 I think Nintendo only released one WiiU bundle with a 3rd party game its entire time on the market.
I'm not a fan.
I know Sony has done similar bundles in the past, and I know Fortnite is hot, but bundling a system w/ a free-to-play game, even NO isn't required, just seems like they are marketing it as a tablet.
I suppose any publicity is good publicity, and it's better than nothing for people who want it, but it just seems defeatist to me bundling a free-to-play game.
I like the SSBU bundle, and the Pokemon bundles - though I like SSBU at $359 better than Pokemon Go at $399 - but this, even at $299, just seems odd. I'd rather see a Diablo 3 bundle. Or Super Mario Party. Or a Doom & Wolfenstein bundle for $359. Just not this.
@faint And how many have we had on Switch so far? I remember seeing a Sonic Forces bundle and a Mario + Rabbids one.
If it shifts system in Europe, it will benefit us all.
Nothing for day one players of fortnite on switch or people that already owned the Switch in general when PS players get multiple skins and items for free? That sucks pretty bad for me as I was hoping for a Switch exclusive skin but there’s nothing wrong with my day one switch and no reason to pay for a new one.
That is random. Not sure why not give the slot to a 3rd party to sell games instead.
Still amazed they didn't do a FIFA bundle for EU like everyone else.
GUYS THIS IS FAKE. SERIOSLY IT WAS TWEETED OUT BY A FAKE NINTENDO OF AMERICA. SOS NOT REAL
vomit
@ButterCup Erm, the above tweet is from Nintendo Europe
@faint two. Zombi u and Lego city undercover
@SmaggTheSmug I think this will be the first one well in Europe at least
Fifa bundle when?
Yawn. I've been waiting for a cool SNES or N64 themed Switch or something, I guess I'll just have to keep waiting.
I guess is part of why Nintendo was so keen to stop the game from running like crap.
@Bunkerneath @ButterCup
Not only that, it's also on their US twitter account and already listed on their website.

In any case this is a real smart move for Nintendo as others have pointed out, but not an original one. Sony already have Fortnite PS4 bundles.
For those that like Fortnite... it'll be great! While I'm more of a Splatoon 2 player, I definitely appreciate the sharp business move of pushing the Switch to the Fortnite community.
Hopefully this means more Switch's sold & therefore more players in Nintendo game online matches!
Well this might move units. Same price as a regular unit, but essentially a season pass for free, right at the start of a new season. Pretty good idea
Smart move.
Even though I despise Fortnite, I can say that this makes sense from a business standpoint
Well that explains why Epic is trying to optimize the game so quickly...
Wow, this could make a huge difference in terms of the console wars. More Switches out there means more people to sell 1st party Nintendo to. Can’t argue with this one
Okay, now we have some new formulas to make Switch Boost sales.
Add Smash Bros Ultimate + Splatoon 2 + Mario Kart Deluxe + Zelda BOTW + Pokemon Let's Go + Animal Crossing Switch + Metroid Prime 4 + Fortnite = NUCLEAR BLAST BOOST !!!
Nice bundle. My kids would have loved this.
sony tried to do the same thing with ps4 too.
RIP Splatoon 2.
@Anti-Matter How do you mention fortnite but not Mario Party, Mario Odyssey, Luigis mansiok, Yoshi or Fire Emblem.
Cool, but if they released a limited edition FORTNITE console/joy-cons, that would be way cooler.
@Nintendofan83 Yup. Add in the Pokemon Let's Go and Smash Ultimate bundles and I'm seeing a monster holiday season for Switch sales.
They will have no problem hitting that 20 million.
Why Can't This Be A Free Download Without The Bundle
@EpicGamenator Fortnite is free-to-start.
DO YOU GUYS WANT 1000 V-BUCKS SCRUBSCIBE TO MY CHANEL LOL
@BensonUii I forgot about just dance 😂
@EpicGamenator it is
@Trajan the Japanese kids are gonna pay up to keep playing it. 😂
Great marketing movr. I wish they would have released a JoyCon set that matched the costume.
I Meant The Skin And Glider
Great marketing move, so October is the Fortnight console bundle, November Pokemon x 2 and December Smash.
With everyone who's gets a Switch for Christmas having New Super Mario Bro's U Deluxe to spend the Christmas money on in January. Well played Nintendo.
The article's missing the value of the 1.000 V-Bucks and the Double Helix Bundle in €/$. To judge this bundle's value this should be added.
1.000 V-Bucks cost € 9,99, it seems. This Double Helix bundle consists of upcoming ingame items if I'm correct. What do those items normally cost?
Sell outs!
I hope it does 😊
Pretty smart bundle to have for the holidays. Gonna be huge among the casual mainstream audience.
@BensonUii Skylanders too
why why why the same as the PS4 bundle with a free play game giving you nothing just some digital garbage.
lol a bundle featuring a game that was barely functional a week ago.
Jesus ******* Christ I hate this game with a passion
@Agramonte
???
Epic is a third party.
Pretty sure Sony has the FIFA marketing rights, so Nintendo and Microsoft aren't allowed to bundle FIFA with their hardware even if they wanted to.
@Peterjr1 That is exactly how I feel it's just being rude why can't we get that stuff If we already play on switch
Fortnite is such a kiddy game. Real man play Blackout.
why no skin for online members
If it makes Nintendo some money, cool. It’s still overhyped, flavor of the whatever trash. Virtually every online multiplayer title on the Switch is better than Fortnite. I can’t wait for the battle royale fad to fizz out.
@Ambermoon
I buy off mighty ape, and their prices for nintendo switch are 525$(NZD) they discounted the already released switches to 498(NZD) but the fortnite nintendo bundle is 525(NZD) so basically paying the exact same price for 1,000 V-bucks and a skin + cosmetics. The glider would be about 1,500 the skin about 2,000 in NZD this blows a hole in your wallet very quickly. the NZD price worth is about 60$(NZD) to buy those skins so it'd be worth 585$(NZD) which is 15 dollars less than the 1TB Playstation bundle. Just use a calculator to convert NZD to whatever currency you use. btw 1 USD=1.50 NZD To top this off, i could buy about 4,000 V-bucks in new-zealand. Edit: I'm just gonna calculate the cost for you 33$ extra if your buying off mighty ape instead of 60(NZD) oof this is too long, just use this calculator: https://www.westpac.co.nz/fx-travel-migrant/foreign-exchange-and-international/currency-converter/
@faint I Meant The Exclusive Skin
