Layton's Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires' Conspiracy is a welcome return for the classic series formula, albeit we have a new protagonist and a focus on light-hearted storytelling and a push to keep the focus on puzzles. Already confirmed for the Fall season in North America, Nintendo of Europe has now confirmed it'll arrive on the 3DS in its region on 6th October, with the big N taking on publishing duties.
Following on the trend from its predecessors, there'll be daily uploads of new puzzles for a whole year, which should certainly keep us busy. A press release summary is below.

The Nintendo 3DS version of the game includes more puzzles than any game in the Layton series thus far, and what’s more, bonus puzzles will be available to download daily for one year, starting from launch day*. With additional minigames to round out the package, puzzle fans will find plenty to keep their brains occupied as they explore the charming and visually rich world of LAYTON’S MYSTERY JOURNEY: Katrielle and the Millionaires’ Conspiracy.
The story this time begins with Katrielle setting up the Layton Detective Agency on Chancer Lane, determined to prove her worth and hoping that the exposure will help her to uncover clues regarding her missing father’s whereabouts. Whizzing around London on her trusty bicycle, solving case after unlikely case, Katrielle will become embroiled in a quizzical quest that eventually leads to her unwitting discovery of the Millionaires’ Conspiracy. But she’s not alone in her endeavours – a young Gressenheller student by the name of Ernest Greeves joins the agency as her assistant, and the team quickly grows to three when Sherl, a talking dog, becomes Katrielle’s first client and subsequently a trusty sidekick.
The game is already available on smart device in Europe, priced at £17.99 on the Google Play store in the UK, but no doubt some will happily wait to play it on 3DS.
Are you planning to pick this up?

While I have an interest, I'll hold off until there's a review from Nintendolife.
Terrible that once again the Irish aren't allowed enter the Pokemon GO Plus competition in the previous story. To be clear, I blame Nintendo UK for this. They're supposed to represent us as well as the UK but don't, only when it suits them. What competitions are us Irish supposed to enter?
@SLIGEACH_EIRE I thought it was odd, as well. Even if you don't want to ship prizes to other countries, at least let us leave a comment on the article.
@MonkiPlays ItIS getting a physical release, and I'm getting it!
Am I the only one wanting a Layton Switch game?
@SLIGEACH_EIRE I'm in the North of Ireland, so I can enter. Fully appreciate your frustration though :-/
OH MY GAWWWD! And I hear I thought Xenoblade 2 was my most anticipated game but I totally forgot about this! (Mostly because I forgot the 3DS ever existed since March)
Wait, I'm confused. Is it getting a physical release or what? Usually, I'd think it'd get one but after Sonic Mania I don't know what to believe anymore.
Playing it on mobile right now. It's fun. Not as good as previous Layton games, but I'll take what I can get.
Day one for me, happy we don't have to wait for too long Got all Layton games on 3ds (pretty much the only physical 3ds games I kept, sold everything else), this one will probably be last one, but essential to the collection Layton series is best, waiting for a Switch entry!
I personally don't really care, but my girlfriend loves the Layton series. I hope it gets a physical release, a physical box works much better as a present then a download code.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Don't feel bad. Here in Norway we are stuck with Nintendo Scandinavia being run by a third party company who only cares about making money in distribution and repair services. We don't have anything here organized by Nintendo.
@Jeronan As a Swedish person, I can relate to this.
so no physical release then? good thing I got it on iOS then (and the 3DS version doesn't even have 3D, so it pretty much only has disadvantages compared to the iOS version)
Are daily puzzles only available for a day each?
@nhSnork If I recall correctly, in the previous games they were permanently available once they'd been added
what, no 3D? no thanks
Day 1 purchase for me. It's been a while since I've been this excited for a new game.
@nhSnork Assuming that the daily puzzles work in the same way as the previous Layton games, then you can probably download all of the past daily puzzles at any time. So if you grabbed this game a year after launch, then you should be able to download all the puzzles at once.
Great news because i have been waiting this since last summer. And that dog is so adorable
E: So day one for me.
@heathenmagic You're going to pass up a great game because it doesn't have stereoscopic 3D? I guess I've heard stranger things happen...
Having just finished the first Layton trilogy, I absolutely can't wait for this one!
@Jeronan it's the same here in Mexico.
Nintendo should go worldwide, not just the usual 3 divisions
6th October, penned down! Hopefully we get the English voices too, but I guess we Dutch have to settle again with Dutch voices. But we'll see!
@manu0,
Did I miss something? I was thinking that the 3DS version comes on a card, at least in Europe? If its download only, that would be a bummer. Especially since it would be a big download, and my sd-card is slowly running out of memory.
@NicolausCamp
Its not strange at all. I have the other Layon 3DS games, the 3D effect is great and I wanted a similar experience. No excuse for them not to add it, some smaller developers add it into their games for the system.
@heathenmagic So basically you play the Layton games exlusively for the 3D effect and not the story and puzzles?
I know it will be great game, I have all the Layton games so far. I just enjoy the 3D effect, its the mean reason I got 3DS when it came out. If the other Layton games on 3DS didn't have it, I probably would have a different attitude. It might be I pick this up at some point, but maybe after a long time and when I have nothing else to play - which might be a long time as I have such a backlog of games to go through :-/
