Re: Nintendo Download: 19th May (Europe)

It's not a huge deal but I'm glad they're making the FE theme available outside of pre-orders/eShop purchases. It's annoying that themes like the Famicom and Hyrule Warriors Legends ones are tied to the games/eShop purchases.

More pics in the link below — by my count, there were 41 skins including a couple of surprises in Petey Piranha (let's face it, he isn't getting the attention he did in the GameCube days) and Super Mario World's Rex! (He's hidden in the background of the image of Bowser and company in his castle.)

But whether or not all the generic enemies will be playable or were just well-posed enemies, I don't know.

Re: Reminder: Six Wii U Games Are Now Discounted to Nintendo Selects Prices in the European eShop

@themightyboost That's exactly how it works. However you'll need to make a second profile with a European NNID. For example, my main account is Australian, and I have a second one set to the UK. You won't get Gold Coins for your Australian My Nintendo account, but if you create another one linking your second account, that will receive 30 Gold Coins. The only extra thing you'll need to keep in mind is the money conversion fee — my bank charges 3% for overseas purchases, which is next to nothing but something to keep in mind.

And this is actually a good idea for vice versa too. UK players pay £6.29 (AU$11.57) for Fire Emblem on the eShop Virtual Console, as an example. Australians pay $9.10 for the same thing, or £4.95. We pay less for our Wii-to-Wii U upgrades too — AU$1.30 (£0.71) as opposed to £0.99 for NES upgrades.

@AyeHaley I got codes for the Super Famicom game and theme when I downloaded it in Australia just hours ago. It actually says in the update trailer in this article you will get codes for the both from the eShop too. If you couldn't see the offer in the eShop description, it's hidden by one of the arrows you need to press to extend information (a different arrow from the one hiding the description of the game).

@McGruber Yeah, through the eShop purchase of the 3DS game is the only way nowadays, but I'm only speaking for Europe/Australia. But tbh the Famicom game is pretty reliant on knowledge of Japanese; I didn't expect cutscenes to go for very long. Even the buttons they added on the bottom screen (to restart the game or check the also-untranslated control scheme) are in Japanese. I thought at least that stuff would have been changed.

I think I'll still grab this if only because I want to see all the references to the books (the Beast from the East was a neat addition), buuuuut there's no way I'm paying AU$49.95 for it. Even the PlayStation Store has it for less than half that price.

Re: Review: Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3 (Wii U eShop / GBA)

@DarthNocturnal I just had a look at my own copy with the yellow switch scanned compared to a file without, and although Luigi does have his trademark kicky-jump in both, he stays in the air longer with the yellow switch involved. Nothing major, but the option for all the switch changes and feather/boomerang items would have been the cherry on top.

Re: Here's a Breakdown of the Extra e-Reader Levels in Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3 on the Wii U

Mario_maniac

@Lizuka Coro Coro Castle was renamed to Treacherous Halls.

The only one I never got a chance to play was the second-to-last level, No Time to Dawdle. From what I've read, there was a very limited supply of those cards in Japan and they were meant to be kept by retailers who would scan the level into a customer's game. Nobody ever got the chance to decode the card since those who knew how to never got their hands on one.

Re: Random: Check Out the Most Expensive Super Mario Watch in the World

Mario_maniac

It'd be nice to say my "No thanks" meant something meaningful to them, but some sucker will buy it and return an obscene profit to them regardless. It looks disgusting. From the gross button-like corners of the watch to the handles pointing out the time, I don't see how this could be worth as much as they're touting. At least make it look like more than some claw machine prize before pricing it so highly.

Re: Dry Bowser and Bowser Jr. will be in Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash

Mario_maniac

I hate to say it but I'm skipping this one. Nothing's beaten the N64 one for me, and tbh I don't really see how they could beat it anyway. It's tennis. At the end of the day it's all the same, mega mushroom or special shot or otherwise.

(Also I've always hated Dry Bowser ever since MKWii. As a boss, great. But to me, I'd rather play as Petey Piranha. If my avatar doesn't suggest so already. )
