It was mentioned in the European Nintendo Download Update at the start of the week, but five days is a long time in the modern world. Nintendo of Europe has released six 'Selects' budget titles for Wii U in stores, but pleasingly the discounts are also available on the eShop; there's even an extra download-only permanent price drop on the console's store.
The new prices are live on the following games:
New Super Mario Bros. U + New Super Luigi U (Nintendo, €24.99/ £19.99)
New Super Luigi U (Nintendo, €9.99/ £8.99)
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD (Nintendo, €24.99/ £19.99)
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze (Nintendo, €24.99/ £19.99)
LEGO City: Undercover (Nintendo, €24.99/ £19.99)
Nintendo Land (Nintendo, €24.99/ £19.99)
Wii Party U (Nintendo, €24.99/ £19.99)
Are you planning to pick any of these up at their new prices? Let us know in the comments.

Dang! 😀
If lego city was a select in US I'd double dip and get it digitally.....game is great and it would save me from having to put the disk in 2 or 3 times a day for the boys
Nope. Already got all of them.
I got Lego and Wind Waker,I already own the others.
Getting DKC on disc sooner or later. Especially happy about the reduction on the Luigi DLC.
When this comes to the States, I'm getting Lego City Undercover. I own all the others (besides Wii Party U).
Can't see Luigi on eshop anywhere
Never picked up Donkey Kong and my son wanted Lego City for his birthday, so onto a winner.
No animal crossing? Bummer
I would've like a Nintendo Selects Wii Part U physical copy.
@Spin You CAN buy it in stores at £20.
There's nothing stopping you from doing that.
@neyoung8 Luigi U is listed as DLC for NSMB, so you will find it attached to that game.
I own all bar Wii U Party but, I don't know, the price still seems steep.
Good prices for very good games, although I'm with the majority here in that I haven't played Wii Party U either. I'd say Lego City and Wind Waker are the best of that bunch, and absolutely essential if you haven't played either before.
I don't understand why "Nintendo Selects" has different games in different regions, either the games are "Select" or they aren't. I suppose they'll make there way over eventually, but why not just do them all the same in the west? Japan is different I get that. Oh well.
The US got -
SM3DW
DKC:TF
Pikmin 3
NES Remix Pack
and some Wii and 3DS games.

Please north America. I want Lego undercover
@Sanicranfast Nsmbu (original not combo version) has been deleted off eshop
I've downloaded Lego Undercover I may get the physical version aswell.
Is Nintendo Land ever going to return to the NA eShop? And if not, why not?
@Danrenfroe2016 Right? I'd be buying it immediately if they did that. I have all the ones we got that I have any interest in.
The bad news is the price changes didn't affect Australia (and presumably NZ).
The good news is we can still use a European account to get the discount. ;p
It seems a bit redundant to mention this again since it was on the weekly eshop article.
I'm tempted with New Super Mario Bros. U + New Super Luigi U, but I'll hold off since there's far too many other games I want to play.
I'm thinking about piking up Lego City., it's about time that got reduced in price. Besides, my nephew's are into Lego games at the moment, so they'll love this for sure.
Also, I can't really complain about paying full price for Zelda and Mario U, I downloaded those during the WiiU premium promotion, so I got some money back as eShop credit.
@Gerbwmu
i own 5 copies, and will buy again. Just to be sure.
Still cheaper (20%) to buy physical - £15.95 at The Game Collection. Bagged myself Tropical Freeze.
@rjejr I don't understand the regional differences either. Seems daft to restrict the customer base.
I wish Lego City would come to NA as a selects title.
Tropical Freeze is awesome btw.
Man I really wish that they would discount Wind Waker to that price for us Americans! I would literally buy it instantly without hesitation.
My physical copy of Tropical Freeze arrived today. It's so entertaining I can't believe it. I'd say it's better than Lego City. So Wind Waker and Donkey are the best from this bunch to me. We still need 3D world as a Selects title and I'm good.
Lego City Undercover arrived yesterday from Base.com, £15.99, absolutely delighted. I haven't got to play it yet but my son is loving it. I ordered Nintendo Land from the Game Collection yesterday for my sons birthday next week, £10, and it arrived this morning, free delivery, when I was at work, brilliant.
Buy the way NSMBU is top quality 2D Mario platforming, and DKC: Tropical Freeze is even better. Fantastic games, go for it people!
@rjejr I can deal with getting different games than Europe. Getting Wii games added to the list displeases me greatly.
@ToniK I love DKC: TF. I feel like it was somewhat dismissed by people when it came out because it wasn't Metroid, but it's a great game.
The 6 games that will never die on the WiiU!
Amazon, Lego City, £18 with free delivery.
Mine came today !
Grabbed LEGO City Undercover for £16, delivered yesterday. Really enjoyable, I wasn't taken with previous LEGO games.
Thomas, thanks for writing prices in euro and pounds. I have to repeat my public recommendation: Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze! Is it the best platformer this generation? Yeah, probably, and much better than last gen Donkey Kong Country Returns, if you ask me.
Also, if you've never played The Wind Waker before, you can pick it up now for €24.99/ £19.99 and wait until Twilight Princess port is cheaper.
Where has Luigi U disappeared to on the Eshop? It's no where to be found
@The__Goomba You have to play the digital or physical version of New Super Mario Bros. U and then get New Super Luigi U as downloadable content.
"DK Tropical Freeze! Wind Waker HD! LEGO City!"
Funny thing is, these are probably my three favorite games in the entire Wii U library. Meaning: get to it, Europeans.
Is Ocarina a Time 3D a Select title for our European friends yet?
@The__Goomba @VanillaLake nsmbu is deleted so only way you can get it is by buying the combo. It is not available for 8.99 anywhere as described
Wish New Super Mario Bros U were in on the Nintendo Selects deal in the US. My dog literally chewed my disc up and I refuse to pay $60.00 for it again.
@neyoung8 @The__Goomba @VanillaLake Nintendo advertised that the Super Luigi DLC would be available at £8.99 so my thought is that they simply didn't realise that removing the standalond Super Mario would remove the option to buy the DLC.
@The__Goomba @VanillaLake @Bosh_Factory I have called Nintendo UK and they are looking into it for me
Hey guys quick question? I had a copy of new super Mario u and it was stolen. I had downloaded super luigi as dlc. If I download new super Mario again will my dlc work on my new downloaded version?
@Bosh_Factory @neyoung8 That would be definitely helpful, most people have already bought New Super Mario Bros. U, myself included. Let us know what Nintendo says. Yep, it's not properly explained on NL either.
@Captain_Gonru They're taunting me w/ LCU.
Took my kid to Target today to buy 3DS LoZ:OoT. None in stock. So it goes.
The choices are actually good laugh if you think about it, since DKC:TF, Lego, Nintendoland and Zelda were much cheaper than that.
I mean, you can already find TP HD brand new for 20-25 euro.
Can't wait to see how Airwing will crash - that will be glorious sight.
Just tried booting up NSMBU and clicking on the green icon on the file select to see if it would lead to a software page for the New Super Luigi U DLC and it said the software page was not available. Weird to see Nintendo goof like this.
I live in Australia and I just wanted to ask if a European version of wind waker HD would work on my Wii U. I'm pretty sure it would but I dont know for certain!
@LCM Australia is in the same region as EU (PAL) so you shouldn't have any problems booting it up.
@Dave24 Awesome! Thanks!
@hendie001 : Of course it will.
For someone that had his Wii U collection stolen, it would be nice to have Wind Waker, Lego City Undercover, Wii Party and New Mario U to come to the US at $20, especially since I buy retail (not download) and can't find them at all. I don't get why the US doesn't get the same games that are $20 (or any other country for that matter).
I am so proud that Lego City Undercover is in this
@Mario_maniac Can you just change your systems region, buy the game for cheap and then switch back? And while I'm dreaming do you get myNintendo points?
I suspect there's a whole Nintendo security force at play and its not that easy...
@Sanicranfast : No. Its completly removed from eShop.
The only way to get Luigi U now is to buy it with New Mario U.
That sucks, since i already own Mario and would like to get Luigi U DLC at the new price.
I hope Lego city gets a discount in the U.S. It's strange 3D World isn't included.
@themightyboost That's exactly how it works. However you'll need to make a second profile with a European NNID. For example, my main account is Australian, and I have a second one set to the UK. You won't get Gold Coins for your Australian My Nintendo account, but if you create another one linking your second account, that will receive 30 Gold Coins. The only extra thing you'll need to keep in mind is the money conversion fee — my bank charges 3% for overseas purchases, which is next to nothing but something to keep in mind.
And this is actually a good idea for vice versa too. UK players pay £6.29 (AU$11.57) for Fire Emblem on the eShop Virtual Console, as an example. Australians pay $9.10 for the same thing, or £4.95. We pay less for our Wii-to-Wii U upgrades too — AU$1.30 (£0.71) as opposed to £0.99 for NES upgrades.
@Mario_maniac good to note, thanks mate!
I may wait a little bit to see if the physical copies go down in price with any imports that may flood in, but this is great to keep in mind.
I really wish this sale applied to the US. I've been wanting to pick up New Super Mario Bros. U for quite some time now, but never felt the urge to spend $60 on another "New Super Mario" title. I'm also somewhat interested in Wii Party U as it's more like Mario Party than Mario Party 9 and 10... plus it seems like an amazing drinking game!

I own all these games already but it's nice for those that don't.
@Mario-Man-Child Hi buddy I did that too BUT you may have to start again. I have. The mario u disc is different to dual disc version data.
I'm not sure but the standalone Mario Bros U save data is not carried over to this new double pack (both games are on one disc now) it was the same for nsmb2 on 3ds too. The digital one did not recognise my card save data as the digital had course packs which made it differ.
Strange but still fun to play thru again
It works for all other selects games...just the new Mario double pack. It is SUCH a great price for the games tho I'm not too bothered.
Have a great weekend buddy
Lol. I got the physical copies of those games, both new and second hand, for a fraction of those prices.
For example I paid £14.00 for a brand new copy of DK:TP over a year ago. Undercover was even cheaper I think.
I got NintendoLand for £4.00 at GameXchange
BTW I got LoZ:WW free download with MK8, my only retail game not on disc.
Lego City Undercover is amazing. I have gotten some more recent Lego games when they went on sale but they are just disappointments in comparison.
@rjejr Unfortunately the Wii Mini still is popular enough that NoA believes they need to "support" it with games. I would have been all over the Lego City Undercover (even though I owned it) just to have it digitally at a decent price.
Just took advantage of the Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze discount. It was on my wishlist for way too long now.
I hope that Hyrule Warriors (Wii U) joins the Nintendo Selects range for all regions. That way, you can pay the price of Hyrule Warriors Legends to almost have all the content added in that game.
@Darknyht But of course you can't shop digitally on the severely gimped Wii Mini.
But man, everybody makes me want to play Lego City Undercover, but I can't do it for $50. Not now, not then.
