Of course people will stick to what they're familiar with. If you want us to "take risks" with our own money, how about bringing in more demos without glorifying them with stupid events like "Nindies@Home"?
@Uberchu Not on the main NNID, no, but the second one that can access the games would be able to in the promo period. We'd be paying in foreign currency but we'd still have a discount.
A fair few more have been shown off. Personally I think they're tacky-looking; if they gave Yoshi Mario's hat, etc then I'd be more interested in using them: http://youtu.be/IFPgRob9Xfc
@PrincePeach92 Check the link out, Peach is the last one shown.
I'm bummed about the Toad light. I'd switch my Majora light (which isn't even due to arrive 'til July for me...) for that in a heartbeat. And that Luigi statue, I thought they were completely gone. Oh well. I'm hoping to at least get that coin, but I guess if I really want the stuff later then there's eBay.
If (and it's a big if) I was to get an Xbox One, I'd totally buy Shovel Knight again for them. Battletoads was awesome fun with my brother back when we were kids.
@Samurairu Well, yeah, kinda. I wouldn't judge a fan of something based on age or financial status, nor do I see it as acceptable practice for someone to take things people line up for to make a profit. Shutting down a kid like that is awful and suggesting that he may have deserved to miss out is just as bad.
I attended one queue when wave 3 launched in Australia, and there was a mother and son waiting alongside maybe another 5 of us. The staff had the amiibos behind the counter, and a line formed. The first guy asked for 2 of each (making a few of us groan — there were literally only 2 of Shulk). I walked out and found them elsewhere, but I saw the mum dragging her son around the wrong section in the media department, looking frantically. I asked if they were after amiibos and she confirmed. The boys eyes were wide and excited, but given the line, I told them to get out of there and go to the nearby Target before the others did. I don't know if they did, but I was right in leaving — there was only one other person in Target and plenty of stock to go around.
I really do hope stores start enforcing stricter rules. That Target manager is just corrupt.
I don't particularly care for these, but I'll be disappointed if they unlock things that regular Mario wouldn't. I'm already spending too much on Amiibos as it is to think about these variations.
I used my third and final code to get me some Shantae action. Another code got me the Pikmin HD vids and I think the first was used mostly for those 30 cent VC games. Thanks for the freebies Nintendo!
@MadAdam81 Well, that shut me up. That's interesting to think that DK has different generations adventuring with the gang. I guess it's plausible that Baby DK is like a retcon of DK Jr., or (more likely) grew up to become the current DK's father. Either way I'm totally confused now haha.
@3DSLUIGI An argument on your side is that both Mario and Baby Mario were featured in the same game too.
I'm not saying it is and I'm not saying it isn't, because Nintendo themselves never discuss it. But if there's a 3rd generation DK now (as suggested earlier) with Baby DK, and that 3rd generation DK is the star of the new DKC games, then what happened to Diddy and Dixie and Funky from the original DKC games? Surely the "aging" rule wouldn't be limited to just DK, and they wouldn't just vanish.
And I have a hard time believing Baby DK is Cranky Kong. Apart from the baby appearing in that baseball game with DK and not Cranky (and the rest of the babies having their adult selves too), Nintendo would want to be showing off Baby DK as the young version of the current one, since that's the one kids know and love. So where does that leave Junior?
@MadAdam81 I looked at the relevant trophies on both Brawl and Melee, and there's nothing there about Cranky being a father or grandfather to, or even being the original DK. As for Wiki sites, I'll believe them when they add official sources. To think any Wiki has relevancy to an argument without a source is a joke.
All I'm saying is, there are people who are so certain that DK isn't the one from the arcade, when it was pretty much something hinted at decades ago by a company that had creative freedom over the series. We won't know for certain until someone asks Miyamoto.
@MadAdam81 Source? It's just that if we have a ghost of Wrinkly Kong who is the supposed original DK's wife and we're up to DK the Third, wouldn't the supposed original Cranky have a ghost by now too? Rare shouldn't even have a say in DK lore since they left Nintendo.
I don't see DK Jr. as the current DK, despite what Cranky alluded to back then. The whole thing's a big mess really, with Baby DK being brought into the franchise. Would that make him the baby version of Cranky? I can't imagine Nintendo prioritising Cranky's background over the "current" DK. Would be nice to hear from Miyamoto about it, like how he stated the Koopalings weren't Bowser's kids.
(That said, I'm not denying that was the concept Rare was going for back then. Just that I think Nintendo dumped the idea.)
@Kolma You actually get asked the same question about Wifi with the Miis, before the Wifi question. Might save you some time later if you need another transfer.
@ToxieDogg You can create a new NNID and set that to Australia, I do the same to access the UK Wii Shop Channel and it's how I transferred a few Europe-only WiiWare titles over — even after the new NNID rules came into place.
Just remember that when you select the Australian NNID you also have to set the region of the console in Settings to Australia as well, otherwise you'll just get error codes when you try to go online. Hope this helps you get Axelay on your Wii U!
Edit: And yes, you can switch the regions back again after, no worries. Make sure you have no credit on your Wii Shop Channel account before doing all this though, or you'll lose it during the change. The Wii U eShop is unaffected by the process, but I'm unsure if it will be affected if you try to access it before you change the region back.
Like @Sonic_Phantom, I've downloaded the update but still can't do the transfer. LostWinds shows up in the list of software that can't be brought over and sends me back to the Wii Menu, since there's apparently nothing I can bring over at all.
I'm in Australia, btw, but since I downloaded the update and everything I don't see why I'd be having an issue with it.
Having looked at an unboxing video, they're undeniably pretty. But I'm not spending 2000 stars on them when Nintendo Australia has been kinda promising with CN lately, and I already have the Mario Party 8 playing cards. I'm still annoyed that I got the Paper Mario notepads before the Luigi statue was announced.
@Katzii @Platypus101 Actually, I think @DarkNinja9 was referring to the game case in this instance. They weren't specific but there was no need to jump down their throat like that.
Anyhoo, there's something about the Yoshi games I don't like that much. I'll wait a while before getting this one.
I already have Mario, Luigi, Wario, Waluigi, and Toad plush hats. Even though this one looks a bit nicer, I'm not interested.
Kinda wish I didn't get all the crap I did from CN back when I thought we'd never get anything decent, and waited for the diorama. At least I got the medallion, that'll be a collector's item for sure.
Aren't these new sprites following the trend of the PSP remakes? Or has there been some stylistic change from those remakes that I can't spot? (Legit question, I haven't played the others in yonks.)
Nobody complained about the sprites on the other remakes, most people loved them. Rose-tinted glasses for VI, I think.
I caved in a month ago and switched my region from Australia to England to get it through WiiWare. This is still great news for Aussies though, cheers!
Ugh, I just redeemed most of my points on those Hanafuda cards since I didn't expect the diorama, and then I read this. Sorry to ask, but what's your source on Australia getting it?
@WYLD-WOO I don't think I understand what you're saying. Are you saying that it's a SNES title so they need to put the logo there? I knew that already. I'm saying they went out of their way to make a template featuring the SNES logo superimposed over the 3DS. The "Wii U" in the bottom right does complicate it but it seems silly to make a template like that if SNES games weren't coming.
I don't see it being a mistake. They've even gone out of their way to superimpose the SNES logo over the 3DS, they'd have no reason to do that if SNES games weren't coming.
@Manfred Sweet, look forward to downloading it. I'm glad developers are supporting the Aussie eShop a lot more than they were the Aussie DSiWare service.
@WiiLovePeace: Still not on the Australian eShop. This doesn't bode well for us when you add that Nintendo wants to stop us from switching eShop regions with the December update.
@SKTTR Australians could buy the two-in-one disc separately in addition to the bundle #21 mentioned. Off the top of my head I think it was already $49 AUS. Wii Sports could also be bought by itself for $29.95.
Other regions, I'm unsure, but the Aus copy would work on any PAL console.
@clubmini, if you want to access the app in Australia, change your region settings to somewhere in Europe (personally, I stick with England): you don't lose your funds like on the Wii; you just lose access to them until you switch back to Australia.

Re: Super Mario Maker Will Allow You to Unlock amiibo Mystery Suits for Figures You Don't Own
This is amiibo use done right. Restricting content like the MK8 Mii outfits is unfair to those unable to access them.

Re: Australia’s Classification Laws Have Prevented An Immediate Local Release Of The Nindies@Home Promotion
Eh, I'll just change my console's region to England with a second NNID. No problemo.
Edit: Forgot to mention that I was literally just looking for them on the Aus eShop. But I'm downloading them now, region swapping works fine.
