Re: Rumour: Nintendo's Next Generation Handheld Is Codenamed "MH"

@TheWPCTraveler
Nope, it's Shouzo Kaga whose making his own game called Vestaria Saga. I've sadly no clue whatsoever on what Kaneda is currently doing in or out of Nintendo :/
But yeah, the long awaited sequel to Radiant Dawn with Kaneda as director, Senri Kita as artist, and Yuka Tsujioka for music would be GOLDEN.

Re: Poll: Do You Want The Rumoured 'MH' Next Generation Portable to be Separate from NX?

Yes I want a dedicated handheld and separate systems but I want a unified platform as well.
As in, different systems with different specs and form factors but with one OS and one store and an unified development API that allows for easy porting between 2 or more 9th gen and beyond Nintendo systems, similar to Android where there hundreds and hundreds of device configurations yet games can at least work on many of them.

I believe this rumor has already been dispelled. Anyway I do hope they make a new handheld as after the Wii U debacle I won't be buying another Nintendo home console. Unless IS makes another console FE WITH TAEKO KANEDA AS DIRECTOR that is. Kouhei Maeda should have no involvement whatsoever aside from being the lead scenario writer like he used to do. I do not like Maeda's games, but he was a pretty good scenario writer back in the day.

I honestly think Sony is bowing out of the handheld race. Actually it feels like Sony is intent on eventually turning Playstation into a game streaming platform in the future, but I digress. I don't think Sony will make another handheld, which leaves Nintendo mostly alone in this field with no competition whatsoever.
Pretty depressing, but if the still-germinating Windows/Linux gaming UMPC market (GPD Win, Dragonbox Pyra, PGS-if this is real,........PocketCHIP?)can eventually grow to be popular, that'll give a great alternative for handheld gamers, especially if Microsoft looks into making their own OR licensing their tech to another company making one. A gaming handheld PC that can also do general purpose computer things seems to already be a popular idea with the Japanese at least...

Dayum, P3rd still going undefeated.

You got this far Capcom, now let's take this series to the next level and go multiplatform. Make an MH game for all current gen HD platforms, including Vita and Wii U. Vita version is guaranteed to be a success due to being a portable and PS4 version should do very well overall worldwide. Xbone version....not the platform MH would do well on UNLESS the west really wants to play it. And finally the Wii U. I figure this might be worst selling platform for a new HD MH, or second worst after XBone, especially if other platforms are available for this game, but Capcom's relationship with Nintendo and its fans could make a Wii U version. And of course there is a MAAAAAAASSIVE chance that the new MH will be an NX launch title due to Capcom's suggested release window of March 2017 is exactly the same as the NX.
I truly hope it won't be an NX-exclusive and that it'll be allowed to spread its wings by being multiplatform. Better yet, if it allowed cross-platform multiplayer across ALL platforms, especially since it seems Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo are all open to the idea of multiplayer between their consoles. MH could be the game to do that and foster friendship between all the fanbases, being a purely co-op game and all.

EDIT: P.S. If Tecmo Koei can go and make each version of Toukiden shine on each of its respective platforms, Capcom should be able to do the same with making each version of a potential multi plat MH look and play beautifully no matter which system it's on (sans 3DS).

Re: Rumour: Sources Go to Battle Again Over Nintendo NX Power

@rjejr
So, where exactly did I say power was the most important thing? All I said was that being the weakest system doesn't guarantee the system being the best selling console of its generation, which a lot of people seem to think. Success depends on many factors.
And honestly, the Vita could've sold extremely well if Sony had put in the effort to actually sell it. The launch of the Vita was very well done, much better than the 3DS's, yet right afterwards they allowed it to drop off and couldn't be bothered to help it. Nintendo on the other hand, rushed back to the drawing board as quickly as they possibly can in order to save their ailing handheld.
To me, I feel both companies motivations for their current gen handhelds were largely influenced by the last generation.
Nintendo had gotten used to huge profits, no matter what they bring out, and needed to please investors more than anyone. The Wii had really great sales, but sales dropped off HARSHLY in its final years and I think the DS was in decline as well (but not as bad as Wii I believe) so Nintendo really needed their newest money maker to actually do its job. When it didn't they needed to fix the situation as quickly and effectively as possible. The things they did are many, though many people LOVE to point out that the games supposedly saved the system. I honestly don't agree with that, as that whole concept did jack squat for the Wii U AND the Vita and I honestly feel the level of game quality on 3DS DOES NOT surpass the Vita's. Again, many factors somehow managed to save the 3DS (though I DO believe it is Nintendo's worst selling handheld ever, not counting Virtual Boy).
On Sony's side, the PSP and PS3 both ended up selling quite well and unlike Nintendo's products they both continued selling rather steadily even after their supposed expiry dates. Of course there were caveats such as PS3 taking forever to become a profit and PSP only really continuing to be a good success in Japan, but they continued selling and continued getting games. I think what I'm trying to say is that Sony wasn't quite as desperate as Nintendo to get their newest product flying off store shelves, which is partially why they left the Vita to die a slow, not-actually-lonely death (I say "not-actually" because JP is quite supportive of the Vita).

Re: Poll: Nintendo Has Laid Out Its Legend of Zelda E3 Plans - Are They Enough?

While I DO think they SHOULD have something else to show, I'm not entirely sure if it's really a good idea.
What I mean is, if it'll just be like last year, then that could just do more harm than good to their public image.
Now if they were going to show all those so-call "unannounced games" THEN GO AHEAD AND DO IT.
Nintendo is not gaining anything by hiding all the stuff that they supposedly have.
Nintendo is an old-as-hell company and even in video game industry they're pretty damn old, but why the hell does it feel like lately (lately being the last half decade, at least) they've just been fumbling around like a newborn deer?

What I'm "trying to prove", which I really not as I've no time to type out proof, is that they have NOT "maintained (and are perceived) a consistent level of quality". Quality is still good in some ways, but I find it difficult to say that the quality of current games is as high as previous games.

Re: Talking Point: Retro-Focused, Innovative and Inexpensive Portables Should Be Part of Nintendo's Future

Llamageton

Didn't Nintendo refer to NX generally as a platform at some point and allude to more and more devices in the future?
I have absolutely no interest in Nintendo home consoles anymore after the Wii U, but it'd so freaking cool for them to release a bunch of different handhelds of varying specs and usages and have them all capable of sharing at least 80% of all games. An environment similar to Android, but much more secure and distinctly Nintendo. That should be Nintendo's future, not GIMMICK GIMMICK GIMMICK.
