In early May The Pokemon Company launched a campaign with three single-week distributions in X / Y / Omega Ruby / Alpha Sapphire in order to promote the current series of the anime. In case you've missed it so far, it's worth noting that the final distribution in this promotion is running now, and will disappear on 26th May.
This time around it's a Shiny Yveltal up for grabs in the 'Mystery Gift' area of the game; you can see its details below.

Will Europe be getting a Shiny Yveltal and Xerneas distribution via Internet 'Mystery Gift'?

I don't think so - Yveltal's been given out as a serial code at an event in Spain, and Xerneas is currently being given out, as a serial code, at Gamestop stores in Sweden, Norway and Finland (they get Darkrai at BR Stores) - if they're going through the effort of having them as serial codes for some countries, they'd probably end up being serial codes in ~all~ of Europe.
I wish there'd be confirmation about whether Europe is going to get this event.

I'm from the UK but on holiday in America how can I get these US Pokemon while I am fortunately here during the distribution event?

The events are region locked, so you'd need an American 3DS and copy/ies of the game
I got slack and missed Xerneas, but I was able to snag the other two.
all caught up on my distributions, reset my yveltal yesterday so now its on to finishing breeding my shellder. then i can EV train and level up 11 pokémons to add to my battle boxes and have nothing to do until the manaphy event. thank goodness for those enigma berries, it's gotten me back into breeding

Already got all 3, I have to say my favorite shiny versions out of the two would be Yveltal, but Xerneas looks nice too.

Grabbed Yveltal in both Omega Ruby and Y yesterday!
Missed zygarde but I got xerneas and yveltal for both my x and ruby. I just wish they weren't level 100, I like being able to raise my pokemon, and at 100 I won't use them for any battles in game. I wish they'd go back to level 50.
Well, I really hope Shiny Xerneas and Shiny Yveltal spread through Europe eventually, would be rather sad if I had to wait until they can be encountered as Shiny in a new game :/ (which would also be much more frustrating even with the Shiny Charm).
I got all three for both of my cartridges! Pokemon Company has been quite liberal with their Mystery Gift Legendaries this year.
I completely forgot about getting non-Shiny tapeworm and sparkly Bambi, but I definitely won't forget Shiny Yveltal.
I was playing Pokemon, but then I started playing Yo-kai Watch and completely forgot the legendary giveaways.
I love it neglected again. thanks nintendo you are really making me want to keep supporting you.
