Re: Darksiders: Warmastered Edition Now Coming to Wii U "At a Later Stage", Delaying eShop Release

Llamageton

Well it just makes sense. Consoles with bigger audiences and sales potential get priority while dead consoles are afterthoughts. Wii U owners who intend on getting this should still be grateful they're getting a physical copy at least. Vita owners are at the mercy of publishers who choose digital only, which makes it more difficult to buy games sometimes because Vita memory cards are ridiculously expensive and the Vita's massive library of great games can cause one to fill even a 64 GB card very, VERY quickly. And basically, data tetris can be a pain in the ass, but necessary.

Re: NVIDIA CEO Talks Up 'Incredible' Nintendo Switch

@Kuhang
My comment is due to how NVIDIA themselves tends to over-embellish a bit on their mobile SoCs' performance when they're actively talking about them. Their chips tend to be pretty good, even when they're not the best, however NVIDIA does have a tendency to make their current Tegra chip look better than it actually is.
Though, I guess they kind of have to considering they have very few customers in the mobile sector nowadays. They've been putting less focus on the actual mobile aspect of their mobile SoCs nowadays and they've been heading into mostly powering cars instead.

Re: NVIDIA CEO Talks Up 'Incredible' Nintendo Switch

@CrazedCavalier
Except the "X2" does NOT exist in anything other than NX rumors and the Nintendo fandom. Tegra Parker, the successor to the X1, still does not have a formal name and at the moment it's designed for use in just cars.
As NVIDIA has said, at the moment we only know that NX is using a custom Tegra chip. We have no real data on how it will really perform and there is no real way to compare it to anything else. Same goes for Parker, we have DO have a spec sheet for Parker when used in an automobile, but no real comparison with other devices and SoCs.

Re: NVIDIA CEO Talks Up 'Incredible' Nintendo Switch

Llamageton

Typical NVIDIA malarkey. Switch will be cool, but NVIDIA ALWAYS embellishes on their Tegra SoCs' performance and capabilities. Not saying they're bad chips, however expectations should be kept very low when dealing with NVIDIA mobile efforts.

Re: Deals: A Guide To The Finest Pokémon Sun And Moon Preorders

Llamageton

Did Amazon change Moon to digital-only? I cancelled my order from Toys R Us after seeing that Amazon has it at the same price and after reading some Toys R Us game preorder horror stories, but now I see they only have it digitally? I was going to get Moon for my little bro, but now I'm uncertain if he'll be okay with digital.

Re: Budget New Nintendo 3DS Models Announced for North America

@Alshain01
As previous owner of the OG Zelda 3DS, and current owner of a Murican 2DS and Japanese black New 3DS, I can say there's definitely an advantage to upgrading, if bought at this low price.
The Standard New 3DS has the best build quality and engineering of all the 3DS models and the New 3DSes in general are just more pleasant to use. I personally don't care much for 3D and I don't actually feel the "better" 3D is that much better at doing its job, so my perspective is from a general gamer's point of view. Navigating the OS is faster so it's less annoying to use (still pretty annoying by today's standards) and games that use ALL of the 3DS's power like the MH games, Pokemon Sun and Moon, Smash Bros, and Hyrule Warriors run better and load faster. So if it's at this cheap price, I would say that this is definitely insta-buy territory.
It's just too bad that this seems to be Black Friday only and will likely be in very short supply (I assume 5-10 units per store).

Re: Check out the Retro-Bit Generations Launch Trailer

Llamageton

Design-wise, kinda ugly, but as a product it's much more attractive than Nintendo's offering.
Still, my Pandora and Shield both emulate everything these consoles emulate perfectly (and more) and can connect to TV with external controller support, so I'm good.

Re: Pokémon Sun and Moon Pre-Load Now Available on the 3DS eShop

@JudgeMethos
In a "normal" month, my family only uses about 700-800 GB (still dangerously close), but when it's summer and winter break and we end up babysitting relatives' and neighbor's kids, we go up to around 1.5 TB. So yeah, gonna have to do some heavy data use management because I have little to no other freaking choice for ISP in my area.
And...I don't know anything about a rollover. Comcast seems hellbent on screwing me over at any possible corner though, so even if a rollover exists, I doubt I have any data to "roll over". Though thinking about it realistically, I think Comcast had a 250 or so GB data cap before this 1 TB one (before they just throttle you if you go over, now they're making you pay), so if you indeed got some kind of rollover it's probably because you've never gone over the 250 GB cap.

@KTT
Aye, seems to be a big problem with Nintendo's "account system". Wish they would modernize NNID or whatever it's called nowadays. At the very least it seems that at least Switch will allow for cloud saves (though they need to allow people to transfer saves to PC like Sony does with Vita).
I wish the best of luck to you :/

Re: Pokémon Sun and Moon Pre-Load Now Available on the 3DS eShop

Llamageton

I actually do kinda want to get the digital version this time for convenience even though the account system is still crap, but I wish there was at least a $5 discount to help make buying multiple copies more appealing. I might end up just getting it from Toys R Us so I can get 2 copies cheaper (one for me and one for lil bro). It actually also might be better to get physical considering Comcrap now has a much stricter data cap. Go over a terabyte and you pay more money on top of their already extremely, ridiculously high prices. I'm going to save my bandwidth for FF15, as I have no choice but to get the digital copy for that since my PS4 disk drive died.

Re: Monster Hunter Generations Has Sold 4.1 Million Units

Llamageton

@Joeynator3000
Oh really? I've been counting it as a "spinoff" in the same way that Frontier and Online are spinoffs, since it's not a numbered title, not directly tied to MH4 despite being considered a 4th generation MH game, and not being the center of its own "generation" like the original, Dos, Tri, and 4 were.

Re: Nintendo Switch to Reportedly Include 4GB of RAM

Llamageton

Not bad. They'll be up to date with mobile devices from this year, which isn't too bad considering there will be more RAM available for games on Switch than it would be on an Android device, unless Nintendo puts the Switch on another ridiculously heavy and infinitely craptastic OS like the Wii U's. Then, they would be equal to Android devices....
Still, I never expected Nintendo to put out a device that can match up to Sony's and MS's 3-4 year old consoles, nor do I expect them to match up to this year's Q4 and next year's devices.
However if they can sell Switch for $300 or less, they'd be in the perfect price point for their specs.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Switch Will Support Micro SDXC Cards Up To 128GB In Capacity

Llamageton

@Rect_Pola
The problem IS digital titles. They're getting bigger and if they Switch does indeed get third party support, many people won't be able to hold more than a few games on a tiny internal storage. External storage would help, but 128 GB would fill up almost instantly with how big games are these days.
Also, even cartridge games, their update data will be on the system storage (or external storage). Update data can also get pretty big these days.
My PS4 is a digital only machine since my disk drive is 100% dead and I've already burned through quite a bit of storage data while only having several games.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Switch Will Support Micro SDXC Cards Up To 128GB In Capacity

Llamageton

They need at least 256 GB support. Games are massive nowadays and now that Nintendo finally has a modern console, they're going to have to both have a huge internal storage (at least 128 GB for a mobile device, Xiaomi's already getting ready to release a phone with 256 GB INTERNAL, so there's still the option to put in 128 GB in Switch) and support all future TF card capacities. Would be nice if they could support UFS cards as well.

Re: Monster Hunter XX (Double Cross) Heading to 3DS in Japan

Llamageton

Pitchfork-chan and torch-kun are ready to go!

Well actually I should've seen this coming. At least they didn't announce MH5 for 3DS, I still have hope for that being released on MODERN PLATFORMS and being multiplatform with shared servers. Everyone should get a new modern Monster Hunter and everyone should be able to play together.

I still do see this coming west late 2017/2018 as this specific game and perhaps Sun and Moon's follow up (if they get one) are what Nintendo probably meant when they said they'll still have software coming to 3DS after Switch releases.

Re: Nintendo Will Continue To Develop 3DS Software After Switch Launch

Llamageton

@Oubie
"You can't abandon an userbase of 60+ million immediately"

They had absolutely no problem doing that with Wii and DS, both of which had way higher install bases than 3DS will ever achieve. Okay to be fair to DS, it did get a Pokemon game after 3DS launched, but I don't recall much else being released before or after that. For Wii though, Nintendo abandoned everyone before the Wii was even supposed to die, even forcing American fans to beg for table scraps (Operation Rainfall).

Re: Nintendo Will Continue To Develop 3DS Software After Switch Launch

Llamageton

Now where have I heard that before.....

In all seriousness though, there is a VERY small chance of this actually being true this time, since the Switch will likely be pretty expensive. However, if Nintendo honestly wants to position the 3DS family as a cheaper or child focused alternative to Switch, every single model needs to go through a huge price drop. Right now every 3DS is overpriced for what it is and won't be an attractive buy for much longer, unless people are more desperate for Nintendo devices than I thought.
And to keep the line fresh for a little while longer, they should release a "New 2DS" (these idiotic names are starting to give me a headache, thank goodness for Switch) with the same philosophy as the Standard New 3DS but without the 3D and without faceplates. Potentially smaller size as well, and with a hinge. Or maybe make it something like the GBM. It's been over a decade since Nintendo has made a console of any kind as beautiful and as impressively engineered as the GBM.

Re: Monster Hunter Nintendo Direct Airing In Japan This Week

Llamageton

I doubt it's yet another rerelease of the original since Japan already got a port of MHG on Wii last gen.
I do hope it's another game though considering it'd be weird to announce an entire Direct for just DLC, but I really hope it's not another 3DS game. Nintendo fans can harp on and on about how it's not about the graphics, but this series has been stuck in the 6th generation of consoles, graphics-wise for over 10 years now. It's a bit unfair for a series with a huuuuuge potential for visual majesty to continue to be bogged down by tech that's over decade old.
So even if Nintendo says the direct won't be about Switch, please let it be a Switch game. And not a 3DS game that later gets ported to Switch as it'll still look like a PS2 game, just with an added splash of paint.

Re: Gallery: Let's Take a Look at the Nintendo Switch

Llamageton

Another thing I'm worried about, I REALLY hope that whatever mechanism is holding the Joy-Con to the tablet is MEGA ULTRA durable, especially considering how it the JoyCon slides into the Switch. Whenever I do finally get one, I do want to play for a year only for the tablet to start slipping out, falling to the ground, and breaking. Considering all they're packing into this, I'm going to assume the tablet will have some heft to it.

Re: Nintendo Confirms List Of Third Party Supporters For Nintendo Switch

Llamageton

@ThanosReXXX
Pretty sure you're thinking of Crysis 3. The newer engine itself is or was supposed to have support for Wii U. I recall seeing the Wii U logo in the list of supported platforms when they revealed it. Either the newest one, or the version slightly before it (which didn't have a number, though it seems wikipedia refers to it as 4).

Re: Gallery: Let's Take a Look at the Nintendo Switch

Llamageton

@sketchturner
Why?
Because the Grip is for converting the JoyCon into a standardish controller, so it won't be useless when you're playing on TV or when you have the tablet standing up with the kickstand, and the Pro controller is for on-TV MULTIPLAYER or for people who want a more traditional form factor. Nintendo is offering more choices, why hate?

Re: Gallery: Let's Take a Look at the Nintendo Switch

Llamageton

Can anyone tell if this thing has analog triggers or digital? They look analog to me, but very short range.
Also, is that a vent? A built in fan maybe?
Of course that's pretty much required for a Tegra chip, but it's still great to see that Nintendo might not be gimping too much on performance (for a mobile device at least).
