Re: Reminder: Points Can't Be Added to the DSi Shop After 30th September

Llamageton

Gonna see which of the DSi-only DSiWare games I wanna buy first, then see what games I wanna buy to play on the DSi.
Since Nintendo never gave a damn about finding a way to get the games to "run off" SD card like on Wii (games are stored on SD card, and then temporarily transferred to the internal memory when running), I'll do a bit more of my DSiware shopping on an actual DSi as I hate doing data tetris just to download game.

Re: Ubisoft Has "Surprises" Yet to be Announced for Nintendo NX

@BeardedSquash
Problem is, I don't understand the "lower bar of entry" aspect. The consoles are low spec'd but they're still VERY expensive (and overpriced) for what they are since Nintendo kept shoving in VERY expensive gimmicks that not everyone who wants to play Nintendo games even wants to use.
Instead of decent specs and convenient, modern multimedia functionality, Nintendo wants people to pay a premium for features that may or may not add much to the experience, if at all (depends on each person's own experience at least).

Re: Reggie Fils-Aime on Why the Wii U Was Misunderstood

Llamageton

Nintendo needs to stop treating people like they're stupid. People know what the Wii U could do and what it's built for. They just don't care, and see no reason forking over so much money for a console that's not much cheaper than the better valued competition (more expensive than the competition now).

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo NX Deal Is A Vindication Of Nvidia's Shield Program

@Damo
Benchmarks don't tell the whole story. Any "tech-head" familiar with Android would tell you that. Or at least most of them. I have a Shield Portable, and while I still love it, my old Nexus 5's Snapdragon 800 (stolen) still beats it in performance. NVIDIA's chips are usually pretty good aside from their heating issues, but they aren't an insurmountable wall for everyone else.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo NX Deal Is A Vindication Of Nvidia's Shield Program

X1 was released last year and was already matched and surpassed by competing chips. NVIDIA has yet to even formally announce a successor, aside from a chipset for cars, for this year which either means they're bailing out of mobile or they're announcing it next year. Either way, even a chip designed and produced this year still wouldn't be more advanced than those in phones you can buy today or later this year. By the time the NX releases, even a chip that was finished early 2017 still wouldn't be "well in advance of any mobile phone". Well, such an SoC would be better than what's out RIGHT NOW, but by the time it releases it won't be that much more advanced than other mobile devices that came out 4th quarter 2016 or coming out later in 2017.

Re: Video: Digital Foundry Breaks Down Details on Nintendo NX and Nvidia's Tegra Technology

Llamageton

Tegra is the entire SoC, not just the GPU. If you're talking about GPU, then you should refer to it as the Kepler (K1), Maxwell (X1), or Pascal (possibly Parker) GPU depending on which Tegra will be in use here. Please.
Hopefully the Ninvidia Shield's presumably custom Tegra will be using an octacore Denver CPU with 8 GB of LPDDR4 RAM and a Pascal GPU with at least 512 CUDA cores, as this is only way they'll be competitive with the by-then 4 year old Xbox One. Even if these are the Ninvidia Shield's specs, expectations should be kept in check, as NVIDIA has a long track record of making their Tegra chips seem way more powerful than they actually. They're actually very similar to Nintendo in this regard...maybe this partnership makes a lot of sense.

Re: Exclusive: RIVE Delayed for Wii U and Could Switch to NX, Two Tribes Tells Us Why

I'll be getting it on PS4 anyway (finally got one of those) so I'm not too iffed, but it's good that they know that people will be pissed even though they really wish to give Nintendo fans the best version of the game as possible. Hopefully, even if NX matches the XBone in power, that Nintendo makes developing for the NX easy and cheap enough for multi-platform developers so they won't feel pressured or forced to abandon it.

@rushiosan
Except E.X. Troopers looks better than this with more detailed (if tooney) assets, yet also plays better. Of course that game has lock-on, but I wouldn't find any issue aiming if there was an aiming option.

ALSO, there were many FPSes on DS that are more detailed than this game, and ran on a lower resolution screen yet were still very playable.

This is just a poor excuse to cover up the fact that they thought "kawaii" sells games.

Re: Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition Coming This November, Ships With 30 Games

Llamageton

Now that I think about it, using the Wii controller ports is actually pretty cool. If they ever get around to SNES, N64, and Gamecube and make brand new controllers for those that use the Wii port, that'll in turn provide brand new controllers for VC players on Wii, Wii U, and presumably Wii 3 to use. Especially Gamecube, as that can give Smash Bros. players official Gamecube controllers without the need of an adapter.

Re: Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition Coming This November, Ships With 30 Games

Llamageton

They're finally doing it. They can finally grab the market that Sega, Atari, and other dead console makers still had left.
Nice list of games, but it's too expensive for my taste. It's nice that they went for max compatibility with the jillions of Wii accessories floating around people's homes, but this raises some suspicion.
Considering how badly Wii sales dropped off in the final years, I expect that Nintendo still has a ridiculously high stock of Wiis, maybe Wii Minis, left in their warehouses. I wouldn't be surprised if they're taking those, removing all the unnecessary hardware like the DVD reader, wifi, and SD/USB readers and repurposing the mainboards for plug and play machines like this.
And if not for this, then I'm sure they would do that for the eventual mini N64 and mini Gamecube, as using unsold hardware should be easier than trying to figure out how to emulate their systems again.

Anyway, someone needs to send one of these to Mark at Classic Game Room

Re: Adventure Labyrinth Story Begins Its Quest on the 3DS eShop Soon

Pretty great game. It was free on PS Mobile, so I enjoyed it on my Xperia Play. Too bad they're not rereleasing this on Vita. Some PSM devs rereleased their games as "normal" indie games on Vita's PSN store, sometimes as enhanced editions, so I was hoping this would follow suit for the people who aren't able to play it.
At least Nintendo people will get to play it now.

EDIT: You may want to fix the line about the game now being brought to the west as it has technically been in the west for years now.

Re: Hardware Review: EXEQ GameBox Game Boy Advance SP Clone

Llamageton

@Damo
I much prefer the form factor of the original. The SP did have that front-lit/back-lit screen though, which made it much more convenient to use, but the original was more comfortable to hold for long periods of time and now that I'm older, less cramp-inducing than the SP. Which is why I'm gonna stick an AGS-101 screen (with ribbon cable adapter) from my pink SP inside my pink original GBA (both were bought off ebay within the last couple years as I no longer own my original systems, fate made them both pink).

@manu0
The hell are you on about? Every FPS on Vita obviously uses the stick, every Monster Hunter-type game, every action-adventure game, every 3D beat-em-up, a bunch of JRPGs, hell even Need For Speed allows the use of the right stick for stuff. Oh, and I definitely can't forget Touch My Katamari. That uses the right stick, too.
At this point I can't help but feel that you're merely yet another troll.

Re: Someone At Nintendo Expected The Wii U To Shift 100 Million Units

Pppfffftttt.

I miss the days when Nintendo had at least a smidgeon of modesty in them, instead of this arrogant image they exude which has severely dropped the quality of their products, especially in relation to the current time period.
Well mostly it just sucks that Nintendo seems to be incapable of market research and couldn't realize that the Wii was merely a fad.
