Re: Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia Coming to 3DS on 19th May

It can take a while to explain why I don't enjoy Fates, which is why I tried to simplify it as "I didn't have fun" (plus other words).
Yes Fates makes things a little smoother with some of menu and UI changes, and the castle thingamajig is "cute".
However...that's just it. Fates is at most a "cute" game when I think about Fire Emblem games. I can't take it seriously, nor do I have any real fun playing it. It's at most a nice novelty to play, but I don't get the same feeling I get with FE6-10 where the gameplay, story, characters, world, etc. all come together in a way that makes me wish to go back to them even long after I've beaten them. I know I'm being vague, but making lists is tiring and right now I have the flu =____=

So just because I don't blindly conform to the standards set by the new generation of fans, I must be some old fart wearing light reddish hued spectacles huh?
1-5 I would agree are archaic (though 4 and 5 had certain aspects I find cool even today), however I find 6-10 FAR funner than the plop known as Awakening and Fates. Those two newer games surely add a lot to help newcomers but they also take a lot of steps backwards.
Go ahead and enjoy your new games. Your world must not be so tiny for you think that someone else who dislikes them must be a witch and burned, right?
Anyway if they ever make something that appeals to me again (which I highly doubt), I'll get it, but if it's just another Awakening or Farts, then no.

To put it in the simplest terms possible, it was boring/unappealing/uninteresting. I just didn't have any fun with the game whatsoever. Story, characters, gameplay, etc.
Nothing about the game made me excited to insert it back into my 3DS to start playing again. Unlike the games before it, it just wasn't FUN. At least for me and my close friends who were also avid Fire Emblem fans prior to Awakening.

@PlywoodStick
A Gaiden remake is fine even if it's using the Awakening/Farts gameplay, since it's so old, but I wouldn't trust the current IS with remaking anything between 4 and 10. True all those games had minor issues that the current IS COULD fix, however they're more likely than not to introduce and take away things that would destroy those games as well.

EDIT: BTW, anyone else hoping this new game will be all 2D art/sprites? The 3D models in the 3DS games have all been rather...rubbish, so the new game would look best with modern spritework.

Re: Fire Emblem Heroes Revealed for Mobile, Arrives on Android on 2nd February

Awwww it looks so cute. Looks like they managed to make the gameplay SOMEHOW even simpler than Awakening/Fates's barebones strategy gameplay.
I'll give it a download since it's free, but long term gameplay is unlikely as I get bored od mobile games quickly, even the good ones (though part of it is because I download a lot of games AND MY DAMNED SAMSUNG GALAXY S6 DOESN'T HAVE A DAMNED SD CARD SLOT). Can we get rid of unwanted characters and use them as exp or materials or something?

Re: Fire Emblem Warriors Arrives on Switch & New Nintendo 3DS This Fall

Ehhhhh, might pick this up for New3DS if the other non-Awakening and Fates lords are in the game (and if the lords from those two games can be ignored) and if the current localization team doesn't screw up their personalities which is a very real concern considering their rather awful track record.

But hey, if Nintendo really is serious FOR ONCE to support a previous gen handheld beyond its "standard" lifespan, then killing support for the OG 3DS hardware and making 3DS ports New 3DS exclusive from now on is a good idea. Gives them a tiny bit more oomph for porting games.

@Timppis
I'm pretty sure you're mistaking 200 GB uSD cards for the 256 GB ones. 256 GB cards are still over $100,unless you're cautious enough to buy one from an eBay seller with a good reputation, as people who bought last year's Galaxy Note got the card for free with many of them choosing to auction them off on eBay. I got one myself from eBay, however I'm using it for my GPD Win, which will serve me far better than Nintendo's effort ever could.
Though if course 256 GB fullsized SD cards are under $100, but those won't work here.

I'm fine with the screen res, as that'll help improve battery life, which is something that Nintendo has become absolutely horrible at doing nowadays.
However that storage is just plain AWFUL. 32 internal is nowhere close to being enough and micro SD storage still isn't big enough for mainly digital gamers.
Then again, Nintendo's sorry excuse for an "account system" will drive most people to do physical most of the time anyway.

@MadAdam81
That had better be true. Thing is, they were heavily showing Awakening and Fates stuff like they did with #FE being mostly Awaknening and Shadow Dragon, so I'm not getting my hopes up.
Then again I probably won't get a Switch. Nothing that was shown makes me excited for it unfortunately.

We all tend to give Nintendo too much credit. Yes they deserve it for making portable gaming popular in a relatively short amount of time, however even if they don't do it someone else will. It MIGHT HAVE taken longer to take root, but portable gaming likely still would've existed the way we know it now.
